Detroit’s 19 Best Breakfasts

"Named for the former department store, this downtown breakfast hotspot has a reputation for its mountain of luxuriant savory and sweet breakfast meals. The red velvet pancakes with cream cheese drizzle and the voodoo eggs benedict corn cakes, Spanish chorizo, cheddar cheese, and ranchero sauce are legendary. Now with a location in Northville." - Serena Maria Daniels

Where to Drink Bombay Sapphire Sparkling Lemon in Houston This Summer | Eater

"A relaxed but refined restaurant, Hudson House on West Gray Street draws inspiration from New York City’s historic West Village neighborhood and its dining scene, which manages to be both approachable and ambitious. Here, you can sip your Bombay Sapphire Sparkling Lemon while partaking of Southern favorites like deviled eggs, Northeastern classics like lobster rolls and chicken Parm, and even a playful assortment of sushi rolls. New Yorkers might almost imagine themselves back at a favorite West Village spot, but Houstonians can just enjoy Hudson House as a chill and very flavorful summer hotspot." - Taylor Tobin

Culinary creations best described as “Contemporary American cusine and seafood”…with an unexpectedly incredible selection of scrumptious sushi rolls. My wife and I have dined here on two occasions and every dish we’ve tried so far has been delicious. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully lit throughout, but it is loud. Open seating that shares space with the bar makes table-side conversation a challenge. The service was good on our most recent visit, but our first time dining experience was a little frustrating. You might want to pave yourself with your drink, a refill could take a while. The food is excellent. The sushi rolls: the spicy tuna crispy rice is simple combination of tuna, chili mayo, crispy rice and eel sauce. It was tasty, the tuna was fresh, and it had a satisfying chewy-crunch to it. The crunchy shrimp roll was otherworldly - a fresh combination of shrimp, avocado, macadamia nut, toasted coconut, Fresno pepper, and chili mayo. All of the ingredients taste fresh. The flavors blend perfectly. For our main course we had the fish tacos - which more resemble tortilla-wrap, than a taco. The pan-seared redfish was cooked just right: a slight crunch at the edges, the meat of the fish cooked to a firm texture, but not to the point of being rubbery. On the side we had parmesan truffle fries. Also very good. Not too greasy; just the right amount of cheese. For dessert we had the key lime pie. With a pecan and graham cracker crust and drizzled with caramel, it was a great ending to our meal.

Unbelievably delicious and outrageously stupendous experience. Our waitress Reggie was a phenomenal server. She made excellent suggestions and was very timely. All the food was outrageously tasty. Strongly recommend the burger, any form of the French fries, the tuna and crispy rice, and I'll definitely be going back for the seafood platter because I did try some oysters and they were fantastic.

Hudson House on West Gray in River Oaks is a fantastic spot for great food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere that makes it an easy choice for a fun meal out. If you’re looking for recommendations, the monthly salad and chicken poppers are both must-tries. The poppers are flavorful with just the right amount of spice, and the salad is fresh and satisfying—a great lighter option. The fries are exceptional, especially the truffle fries, with a crispy texture and savory flavor that pairs perfectly with almost anything on the menu. The bar here is a highlight, with a fantastic selection of drinks and well-crafted cocktails. Their martinis, in particular, are a crowd favorite, adding a classic touch to the experience. For seafood lovers, Hudson House offers oysters and a highly recommended lobster roll that’s packed with flavor. They also have an impressive sushi selection, which feels like a nice twist for a place known for classic American dishes. Happy hour is the perfect time to visit, as it offers a range of items to sample at great prices, making it easy to try a bit of everything. Other popular choices include the deviled eggs, which are creamy and well-seasoned, and the avocado dip, a fresh and tasty appetizer that pairs nicely with drinks. And if you’re in the mood for comfort food, the chicken parm is a standout that’s hearty and satisfying. Hudson House is a stylish, comfortable spot with an inviting atmosphere in the heart of River Oaks. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual happy hour, a weekend brunch, or a full meal, Hudson House is a gem in West Gray, capturing a lively spirit with its great food and vibrant bar scene.

The service was awful. We had to wait long periods to get water, drinks, and our food. We were sitting at the bar and the staff continued to walk back and forth but not asking if we would like anything. The food was less than desirable, we ordered a dessert and they brought us the check, we ask again for the dessert and after a long wait, we got the dessert. It was not busy so I don’t understand the service being so poor. After trying a few dishes I noticed most people ordered burger… that seems to be the only good entree they have. Very disappointed

Great stop for happy hour! This place has burgers, oysters and cocktails on special. Bar is long, fun atmosphere near some of Houston’s classic spots. Parking is easy and the crowd is always very nice. Nice casual neighborhood drink spot.

Limited brunch menu but it was all very delicious for a Saturday morning meal. We had a reservation but it didn’t seem like it would’ve been needed. The waitress was very kind and provided great service. I’d recommend the breakfast sandwich and the lemon poppyseed pancakes.

I like this place a lot! Cheeseburger is great, crispy rice is nice. Chicken bites were probably the best. Espresso martini was ugly, and no beans??? But delicious. Chocolatey which is how I personally like it. Nice crispy fries and great vibes. Will be back! Lobster roll a bit bready. Changed my mind - chicken parm is the best so good!! Can’t really go wrong with most of the menu

We enjoyed a great Father’s Day Brunch today with my son and his wife. Great service, we started with a good cup of coffee, and went sweet and savory for our meal. The pancakes are truly unique-whoever thought to use lemon poppyseed batter gets two thumbs up. And her Lox and Bagel were outstanding. Everything so fresh. My daughter-in-law got the French Toast, and it was a veritable mountain of food. Swank atmosphere and comfortable booths made our special occasion special.
