Nice train ride, and nice informative staff who care about what they're doing. But a few issues. First, while waiting in a big line at the lounge before going down to board, a staff member said a few words about how things would work during a 2 hour layover in Albany. This was supposed to be important information. But he was just speaking unaided in a loud area, and I'm sure many of us couldn't hear him. We certainly couldn't. Next, they suggest the train is a nostalgic 1940s experience, but once on our way they said the car we were in was built in 1957 -- and it looked it. Also, while buying the tickets online, we were asked about dietary preferences, and we noted that one person was a vegetarian, and one a vegan. When we went up to get our lunch on board -- which wasn't announced, BTW; we just noticed that everyone else had some food -- we were told that there was nothing vegan. So we ended up with a sad "California Roll" and some soggy potato chips. Then there's a two hour layover in Albany, and they warn you more than once to not miss the return train, so we actually just waited in the station. But when the return train was ready to board, there was no announcement, and when we finally inquired, they said we'd better rush and get on the train.
