Seeds and dahlia tubers under perform compared to every other store I've purchased from. I multiple 4 dahlia tubers from them last year and only two grew, with each barely producing a couple flowers. I have never had this issue with any other store's tubers.
Similarly, I ordered a bunch of seed packets last year, all of which said you could direct sow. I got a few zinnias to bloom but otherwise nothing germinated. When I wrote them, they said it was because I should have started indoors, which is in direct conflict to the directions offered on their site. They offered me a credit in response, which was nice.
The seeds I bought with their credit are faring no better this year. I used the winter sowing method, putting them in plastic containers outside starting in Feb, with the idea being they function as mini greenhouses. All seeds I bought are compliant with this method. And lo and behold, my seeds from every other brand are doing really well and sprouting! Almost nothing from the Hudson Valley Seed packets. Such a disappointment, again.
