Hudson Valley Seed Company

I ordered 1 lb of music garlic. I received a variety pack. No problem. I reached out to them and they sent me a return label for the order I received and my original order. Unfortunately, the music garlic that I received in the second shipment was much smaller than the music garlic that was in the first shipment. So, I called to see if I could keep the garlic from the first shipment. I didn’t want a variety pack, but the cloves in the first shipment were clearly better for planting. I was told that I could not because that shipment was promised to someone else. I was disappointed. Why would I keep a pound of garlic that was clearly not the same quality as the first? You can clearly see in the picture that the garlic in the small package are much bigger than the second shipment I received. I asked for a refund which I would get after they received both orders of garlic back. I sent it back, and today I received a refund for the price of the garlic only. No shipping refunded. I understand they are a small company, but the errors were theirs. I will not be doing business with this company again.

I have supported Hudson valley seeds ever since they were a seed library and built their farm and property from scratch years ago. I helped them set up their booth at the last Heirloom Expo in Santa Rosa 2019. Nice art work very good seeds and customer service to match. I support seed companies that grew from grassroots hard work and that support saving and growing Heirloom seeds. The fact they grow a lot of their own seeds is worth supporting. I enjoy the calendar and the art work on their seed packs as well.

Hudson Valley Seed Company is a wonderful source for high-quality organic seeds that are adapted to my region. They provide excellent information for growing and maintaining the garden, planting native species, and attracting pollinators. I love receiving emails with tips on gardening tasks for each season.

My husband and I found Hudson Valley Seed Company seeds at a local nursery last winter and have since purchased many, many packets of seeds online and additionally visited the nursery twice. All the plants we've purchased from them have absolutely thrived. Their gardens are beautiful to visit and the staff is so friendly and helpful. It is our new go-to nursery for a large, backyard garden. Really can't recommend them enough!

We enjoyed the Tomato Fest held at the Hudson Valley Seed Company. After being familiar with their beautifully packaged seeds, it was a nice opportunity to visit their store, facility, and beautiful gardens. We bought some seeds and new gardening tools. Tomato Fest was so fun with tastings and growing information and has so much potential. I hope they will have another one.

2025 update: I counted this morning and ALL 30 BULBS SPROUTED!!! Can’t wait until they bloom!!! So excited about my saffron bulbs! They were delivered in September as the company stated. I know they said that you could potentially get a harvest in the first year, but I was a little doubtful. However, today I went out and picked some saffron threads!! I am usually super skeptical about ordering from online companies since you never know. But do not hesitate to order from this company! The bulbs are quality and the instructions were perfect. I think about half of the bulbs sprouted from September to now, (I only pictured some of them but I bought 30), but I’m confident that they will all come up this spring. Thank you Hudson Valley Seeds for some wonderful saffron bulbs!!!

One of my favorite seed companies. Their art packs are brilliant. The Art of Seed calendar is a yearly purchase for me. I buy at least two, one for work and one for home.

What a wonderful experience! Beautiful space and worth the drive to get these little seeds that will become our summer bounty!
