The Best Restaurants In San Jose

"An ever-revolving line at the door is the first indication that Hue, a simple, spacious cafe in an East San Jose strip mall, leaves its competitors in the dust. Hue specializes in Central Vietnamese food like bánh bèo and bánh bot loc, rice cakes steamed and stuffed dumpling-style with shrimp and pork—they’re all next-level knockouts that’ll set you back just $6 each (even less if you order take-out with their website’s 15% discount code). And if you’re craving comfort and a kick, their spicy bún bò huế is as satisfying as a rare home team-winning game at the Shark Tank. Hue’s dining room is large enough that the wait goes quickly, and their no-nonsense efficiency will have your food on the table at lightning speed. " - shoshi parks

Google
Bun Bo hue and Mi quang- the portions are large! It’s good to share. A lot of appetizers central to hue. Service is fast and the vibe is family brunch rolling 6+ deep. I would recommend this restaurant if you’re in the mood for a different region of Vietnamese food.

Google
Food is very good and the price is reasonable. They have quite a lot of snacks / appetizers. Their food is authentic. If you come during peak hour, this place gets crowded. There is a small outdoor dining area with a few tables only. The parking lot can be crazy with many cars getting in-and-out or waiting for a space.

Google
Had a solo lunch date here a few weeks ago when I was in the area and glad I did! I got seated right away, despite it being 12:30 pm. I ordered the regular bun bo hue. It was flavorful, fairly large, and super filling! The bowl after tax and tip was under $20, which is the norm for food in SJ in this day and age. Happy I was able to stop by! The only deterrent I have to this shop is the crazy parking, which is by all means no fault of the restaurant. If you're willing to take some time to find parking, I'd highly recommend! Service: 5/5 Food/Drinks: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Atmosphere: 3/5

Visited on 2025.07.04 arrived at 11am they open at 10am. Large capacity so we didn’t have to wait for a table of six. A lot of options on the menu and will definitely come back to try that out. Had the bun bo hue vegetarian and that’s really good! Cheaper than current pho places~ Will definitely come back. Service was none… typical for Vietnamese restaurant lol.

Google
I always come here to the banh beo it’s so good and you can just eat so many of them. Got the BBH and spring rolls. Hue is great because it has a lot of options. Might not be the best BBH in san jose but you got lots of variety of food. Outdoor seating was ok with the dogs

Google
Very busy during lunch on the weekends. Probably need to wait for 10 to 15 minutes for a table. Food is pretty. A lot of options! The issue is that the items' names are not aligned with the pictures. So please make sure you are getting the right thing! We mistook an item a couple of times, but the waiter was patient enough to work with us. Definitely coming back if I am in the neighborhood!

Pretty tasty got the #48 and the portions were huge. Also got the #3 appetizer and it was also good

Google
🥢 I visited Hue restaurant on Tuesday, 02/18/2025. Overall, I enjoyed the Bun Bo Hue - it was robust with the shrimp paste. I found the noodles to be soft, would have preferred them just a little bit firmer.

Yelp
I love it here. I love their Banh Beo (Steam rice cake) and I usually order 2 orders for myself, the Cha Hue (Steam Sausage), Banh Ram It (Shrimp filled chewy mochi on top of crispy fried dough), and if I'm going with my husband he'll get the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup). I think their BBH here is average at best, but I'm strictly here for the appetizers. HOT TIP: I always order an extra bowl of chicharrones cause I'm a fatty and then as for sate (fried chili in oil) and dunk it in the fish sauce. I let the fried pork skin soak in the sate fish sauce a bit and voila, deliciousness and artery clogging goodness awaits. I always leave a happy kid.

Yelp
Sunday at 11:45am and it was packed!! Luckily a few groups of people left when we arrived. Got seated within 5 mins. But once we left there was a mob of 20-25 people waiting. The BBH is so yummy! They give plenty of meat. It's my go to place for BBH. I remember coming here when they first opened and it was only half the store. I'm definitely a loyal customer to this place. Their severs were quick and available. Water refills and Togo boxes were grabbed immediately for us!

Yelp
2nd time here. Food has improved a lot. Very delicious bánh bèo. They came out hot, soft, good fish sauce. The best I've had so far. Bánh ram ít: not as good as I expected. I will skip this next time. Bánh bèo chay same texture as the non-veg version but with tofu. The real version was better. Bún bò Huế chay: great broth, not salty. The noodle was overcooked so I only ate the vegan mock meat and drank the broth. Chạo tôm aka shrimp on sugar cane: good flavor. I wished they grilled it but it was still good being fried.

Yelp
OG Hue spot for all things Hue. This is my go-to for BBH and Banh Bot Loc/Banh Ram It. You really can't go wrong with anything here. The worst mistake you can make is not coming here to eat! It's all really delicious and very authentic (or so I've heard. I'm not Vietnamese!) I personally love the Bun Bo Hue (BBH) and Banh Ram It, but I think the "correct" answer is to get the Banh Bot Loc for your appetizer. As for ambiance and service - this is a no frills, Vietnamese speaking establishment. Come in, signal with your hand to indicate how many people will need a table, sit down, and order your food by number. When you're done, pay at the counter with your table number, planning out the next time you come back to eat at Hue!

Yelp
I'm definitely a fan of Hue Restaurant and it's definitely on my list of solid Vietnamese restaurants. Focused on Bun Bo Hue as their specialty, you'll quickly notice that their best sellers are Bun Bo Hue or Bun Bo Hue like and influenced noodle soup dishes. Now to think about it, I don't think they have any "pho" dishes. You'll also want to try their appetizers and they're always enjoyable and go so well with your noodle soup dish. We ordered the Banh Ram It to start and the texture differences and flavors were pretty awesome. My wife ordered the Mi Quang and the ingredients (the protein with the fresh veggies) all melded so well together. I ordered the Bun Rieu and it was solid. Generous with the crab portions, only issue was that mine was missing the pork blood. I asked them about it and they brought out some pork blood. Service was nice. Nothing special, but attentive and quick. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for the anti-pho Vietnamese noodle soup.

Yelp
Vietnamese restaurant with a large variety of unique Vietnamese street food. They have some very unique Vietnamese appetizers other than the typical spring rolls. The appetizers are all very reasonably priced for its portion size and quite delicious. I saw a table next to us order only appetizers for the table which honestly seems like a great idea. The Bun Thit Nuong is a lighter and more refreshing flavor with its pickled vegetables and tart fish sauce on the side. It could be a little more sour in my opinion but it was delicious nonetheless (side note: there was a mysterious piece of lemon on our table but we did not know which dish it was intended for). The pork itself was delicious too but I lowkey liked the noodles without the pork. Overall, their flavors are light and not overwhelming.

Yelp
Finally got to try the Banh Ram for the first time and it was tasty! The bottom deep fried portion was nice and crispy and the rice inside was soft and gooey. The dumpling on top held it's shape very well and went well with the sauce! Next I'll need to try the Banh Beo here! The Bun Bo Hue was so delicious here! I paid extra for the pork knuckle which was a decent size, but it was hard to eat the knuckle. I'd likely get just the bun bo hue next time! Luckily, when I got to Hue there happened to be seating for 2 available right away which seemed like the last open table. The location is super busy and hard to get a server if you need anything.

Yelp
10000/10! Banh bot loc is my absolute FAVE and I'm so happy to have tried Hue's Their BBH is #1 for a reason and you must try! Very lucky to have come on a weekend with no wait and found a spot right away in the parking lot.

Yelp
Came here because it was highly recommended by friends and I can see why! I really enjoyed the flavor of the broth here but I don't think it's quite my favorite in San Jose, but it's definitely more authentic than some of the other ones I've had out there. Personally Bun Bo Hue An Nam is my top, this would be a second. Though this place is super affordable so it's a huge plus. ~~Parking: Can be hard to find depending on the time you come. It's located in a super busy plaza and you can spend a while looking for parking if you're arriving at a "rush hour" time for lunch or dinner. ~~Service: Good. It was quick to order and pay. ~~Tips: Get the Banh Beo, it's amazing!! ~~Return: Yes

Yelp
Probably the best Bún bò Huế I have ever had in a restaurant setting. BBH is Vietnamese spicy beef noodle soup. Outrageously good with clean, crisp flavor highlights you can pick out, and in a great environment with good service. I like that they are pushing recipes too with the mochi appetizer we ordered too. We also had the base herbal tea drink as well and it matched the meal perfect -- not very sweet but had a perfect dry tea flavor. I'd go back in a second... was chaperoned by a Vietnamese friend so they helped order.

Yelp
The service here was great and kind, especially in a pack environment. They were busy, but didn't let it affect their service. It is definitely a plus for me with outdoor seating, as I like to have that option wherever I go. They are very much known for their Banh Beo. I never really had it before so I can't compare it elsewhere, but if you were wondering whether or not to get it, I would say get it! their Banh Bot Loc is alright, I prefer getting that somewhere else. The peanut sauce and Nem Nuong were good too! I would definitely recommend that if you were on the fence of trying it or not. Now for the main food! I got the Vermicelli bowl (Bun Tom Thit Nuong Cha Gio) and it was good. I think it is a safe option to get, definitely can't go wrong with it but I did leave kind of regretting not getting their Bun Bo Hue instead. I will definitely try it next time when I come back here! Everyone else I was with shared their order was great and would recommend it! This isn't the restaurant's fault, but I just wanted to share that it did take me over 40 minutes trying to find parking on a Sunday at 1pm. Tip: arrive a bit earlier than planned to secure parking if you're going on a weekend.

Yelp
Hue was great to distract us from the horrendous smell coming from outside. The inviting smell of their delicious Bun Bo Hue along with other dishes like their Banh Beo, Banh Xeo, and Bun Cha Hanoi entices you. Starting with their Banh Beo, this rice cake filled with dry shrimp and pork skin on top with nuoc mam on the side was savory and flavor-inducing. It is quite addicting. I got the Banh Xeo for myself and it was crisp to perfection. The assortment of vegetables and herbs it came with made it a refreshing dish that also made you full quickly. It was downright good! My friends who got the Bun Bo Hue wowed at how much the dish was rich and filling. It is Hue's star dish! One of my other friends was so overwhelmed by the assortment of dishes on the menu that she asked for a recommendation from the staff. I think they ended up giving her Bun Cha Hanoi or some other variation of Bun Cha, but she said she enjoyed the dish and the sizing of it was quite grand. I didn't see a dish where Hue lacked cooking!

Yelp
* Visited on Sat. 12/21/2024 around noon time :) Hue is one of my favorite go to spots for bun bo hue and the best banh beo around. It's crazy to see how popular the restaurant has gotten and how they have expanded for the years. The restaurant is quite spacious, and the staff here are pretty kind and attentive! OKAY THE FOOD: * Banh Beo! If you're looking to satisfy a banh beo craving, this is the place to be. *Bun Bo Hue- I'm a plain person when it comes to bun bo hue, so I typically order their regular bun bo hue. HOWEVER, there's different types of BBH and other Vietnamese signature dishes/ soups here that are pretty tasty * Mi Quang and Banh Canh- though different from each other, I feel like Hue makes these dishes pretty well and when I'm not feeling BBH, these are my next go tos Happy Eating! x

Yelp
Meat and vegetarian friendly. We ordered bun Bo hue (meat and veggie) and my veggie version was so good and rich! Bf and I prefer spicy and their chili oil was okay. If it was spicier, it would be 10/5 for us, lol. Overall, 5/5 Bun beo, it was an amazing appetizer. This was so good too. 4/5 Bahn ram - first time trying this. Very good! Hot so be careful to let it cool. Bf and I enjoyed this a tad more than the banh beo. 4.5/5 This place is packed but they get you in and out fast. Only 1 bathroom (men and women separate) so that can suck when they are busy. Great prices. One of the best meals during our visit. Can't wait to come back when craving bun Bo hue. They really know what they're doing right here.

Yelp
The three of us walked through the front door and immediately got smacked in the face with an overpowering fishy smell. So strong that it's hard to imagine fish sauce was 100% the culprit. We are all Asian and used to fishy whiffs in Asian restaurants and grocery stores, but this was a whole other level. Moving past the smell: The apps are where it's at! I loved the #11 grilled pork spring rolls complete with the crunchy bits. Yum! The #1 banh beo and the #3 banh ram it did not disappoint either. I didn't care that much for the bun bo hue, the shaken beef was tough and dry and the banh xeo, while it was super crispy pancake, had an overabundance of bean sprouts. Sadly, they didn't have much to offer in terms of hot sauce, specifically no sriracha. Come and get all the apps! Consider skipping the entrees.

Yelp
My friend and I arrived at Hue Restaurant around 7 PM on a Friday night, and wow -- it was bustling! Despite the crowd, we were seated surprisingly quickly, which already started things off on a good note. For the appetizer, we went with the Banh Beo. If you've never had it, think delicate little rice cakes topped with shredded shrimp and a crispy touch of dried fish skin. It came with a side of fish sauce, and let me tell you -- that fish sauce was the MVP. Pour a little on top, and suddenly, every bite is a flavor-packed mini adventure. For the main event, we had to go with the Bun Bo Hue -- I mean, it's literally in the name of the restaurant, so it felt like a must. The noodles were perfect, and the meat was fresh and tender. I do wish they gave just a little more beef, but what was there definitely hit the spot. The broth, however, felt slightly diluted. It wasn't bad by any means, but it could have used a touch more depth. Luckily, we had a secret weapon -- that leftover fish sauce from the Banh Beo! We poured it into the broth, and boom, problem solved. It brought everything together. Pro tip: squeeze that lime that comes with it right into the broth. It makes a world of difference. Honestly, I just throw in all the sides for maximum flavor. All in all, Hue Restaurant has solid offerings and a friendly, fast-paced vibe. The Banh Beo was a standout, and while the Bun Bo Hue could use a bit more punch, it's nothing a little fish sauce and lime can't fix. I'd definitely come back to see if any of their other dishes pack a bigger flavor punch.

Yelp
My partner was craving bun Bo hue, so we came here before our trip to Hawaii. I don't really like bun Bo hue that much, but I love the central Vietnamese carb dishes. Banh Nam (5/5): This rice cake dish is filled with shrimp and pork. It was very warm and moist. Love the flavor the banana leaves added. Banh Xèo (5/5): For a place that does not specialize in this dish, it was very excellent. The outer shell was very crunchy and the filling was packed with pork, shrimp, bean sprouts, and other vegetables. Still one of the best places to get central Vietnamese food.

Yelp
Authentic middle Vietnamese ( hue) food ! All the dishes I tried here were good ! Each time I've been here, the food and service have been consistent and never disappoints ! Would come back if I'm craving viet food :) Service : 5/5 Bbh : 5/5 ( not the best in San Jose but really good ) Banh xeo : 5/5 ( my family loves this here ! Said it's one of the best in San Jose ! ) Mi quang : 5/5 Banh beo : 5/5 Decor/ambiance: typical viet place haha loud and busy

Yelp
Whenever I crave Vietnamese food, this is the place!! I've brought a few friends here and they all love the food here! My go-to items: Banh Beos & Banh Bot Loc - great shareables as appetizers, or you can place a few orders to make it a meal Bo Luc Lac with tomato rice - portion size is great! The filet mignon pieces are generous, flavored well. The tomato rice is also really good. Honorable mentions: bun bo hue (specialty item!) This restaurant gives a clean ambiance. This place does get busy especially on weekends, so I recommend coming a little earlier to eat. This is located in a busy plaza so although there is plenty of free parking in a lot, it gets filled so plan ahead for that.

Yelp
One of the place to get good Bun Bo Hue and price is very reasonable. You can also get the ox tail with it. When we are around the area, we usually order Bun Bo Hue to go. The Bun Bo Hue is yummy. If I am not mistaken you can also combine it with other appetizer for couple dollar more. Overall the price is cheaper than other restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday for lunch and it was busy! Luckily the wait wasn't too long because they turn over tables quickly. I highly recommend getting the banh beo as an appetizer. Super delicious with the fish sauce. My friend recommended the noodles so I got the bun bo hue with filet mignon. I don't handle spice well but I love this noodle soup. Just drink water or something because it's worth it.

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday around noon, and it was packed! Despite the crowd, we were seated quickly, and the service was fast, which was a nice surprise. My friend and I both ordered the Bun Beo Hue--mine with oxtail and theirs with pork knuckle--along with the Banh Beo. The portions were generous, and the flavors were solid. The Banh Beo was definitely worth it for $5.95--soft, slightly chewy, and delicious. The Bun Bo Hue had a good broth with the right amount of spice, but I wouldn't get the oxtail again--it was too chewy for my taste. My friend enjoyed their pork knuckle, though! Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I'd come back to try other dishes.
google avatar

Yelp
To avoid crowd, I came for Sunday dinner (as lunch is more popular) and was seated right away! When you walk into the restaurant, you might be overwhelmed by the smell but food is very good! Their appetizers are amazing! I wanted to order banh bot loc, but mistakenly ordered banh ram, and was still good, tasted homemade and fresh ! (chewy rice dumpling stacked on top of crispy rice cake!) BBH's broth is rich, comes with just few pieces of oxtail but considering price, I think it's okay. Mi Quang was also flavorful with a lot of topping, however noodle was a bit overcooked n broke apart when I grab them with chopsticks. Service is better than many Vietnamese restaurants as they are friendly and come and fill your water etc. I would love to come back and try more appetizers!
google avatar

Crystal L.

Yelp
Popular place and it's always crowded. I try to go when there isn't that large of a wait. But people come in and out so not too long of a wait. Known for the bun bo hues, but I got for the banh beos banh ram it. Compared to others their banh beos are flavorful and have the perfect chewy texture. Not too rubbery. Love the crisp on top. I usually go for the mi quanq which is unique to other Vietnamese restaurants. Not a fan of their vermicelli bowls. I do like their bun bo hues. I have to be in a specific mood to go here. Decent service.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
I came for lunch with a friend on a weekday, and wow it was super packed. For appetizers, I got a plate of banh beo which came with five. We felt like the pork skin was so random, but it does adds a nice crunch to it. My friend & I got the bun bo hue. It was good. I felt like it came with so much meat than noodles, but that comes down with personal preference.

Yelp
Came by on a Saturday evening around 6pm. The place was packed so we were seated outdoors. It was during a heat wave so it didnt help that we were eating hot noodle soup, but we still enjoyed the food. Just note that outdoor seating means flies all over. Ordered Bun Bo Hue, Banh Beo and Banh Ram It. BBH: As good as it gets, but I do wish that it was a little spicier. We asked for extra chilli on the side but it wasnt enough kick. Banh Beo: I thought the batter was a little too thick, and they served it in a bigger plate than usual. Banh Beo is usually served in smaller plates so it was a little different given it changed the texture. This dish also took a long time to come out (last when we almost finished out meal). Thought it wouldve been first given its an appetizer. Banh Ram It: This was my first time trying this and I really enjoyed it. Crispy but soft and chewy. Definitely recommend this dish if texture doesnt bother you. Note: I think to-go orders receive a small discount since we ordered a few dishes for take out and the pricing was different.

Yelp
My friends took me here for dinner and I was blown away with how good their banh xeo was! I have seen it in other places, but this one had the best presentation. And the crispiness of it! Unmatched! Thankfully, they were able to make me one with tofu since I do not eat shrimp or pork. The portion was generous and I could not eat one by myself so took the rest for lunch the next day. It was not as crispy, but it was still decent. They were nice enough to accommodate my dietary restrictions. The other dish is usually shrimp, but I also got it as tofu. Forgive me, but I don't remember what it was called. The picture is with this review. Everything I ate here was delicious. The flavors were very fresh. I would definitely come back again. Parking was fairly easy, but the place can get very busy. The restaurant gets noisy and packed. However, it is worth the wait.

Yelp
I've been coming to Hue for years, and it continues to be one of my favorite spots for Vietnamese food. My go-to is their Special Bún Bò Huế, but I also really enjoy their Mì Quảng. The broth is always flavorful, and the fresh veggies complement each dish perfectly. One thing I appreciate is the variety of options for their Bún Bò Huế--you can get the regular, filet mignon, pork knuckle, or oxtail. No matter which version you choose, the quality is consistently great. Their Bánh Bèo and Bánh Bột Lọc appetizers are also delicious and worth ordering. The service is quick, the restaurant is clean, and payment is simple. I've also noticed how much they've expanded over the years--the space is much larger than it was eight years ago, making it even more comfortable to dine in. Portions are generous, and I always leave full and satisfied. The atmosphere is lively but not too loud, so it's easy to have conversations while enjoying your meal. If you're looking for great Vietnamese food, Hue is definitely a solid choice!

Yelp
Authentic Hue food. Be prepared to wait 10-20 minutes on a weekend to be seated since this restaurant is so popular with the locals. Love the appetizers, especially the banh ram it and banh bot loc. Mi quang here is also very delicious and packed with a generous portion of protein. They're also well known for their bun bo hue which has a strong meaty flavor yet clear broth (the best!). #banh ram it (9/10) crunch meets chewy. top is reminiscent of banh beo but stuffed with shrimp. If you had to pick one appetizer from the menu, go for this one #banh beo (9.5/10) another classic hue appetizer. a tapioca dumpling w/ pork and shrimp filling. #mi quang (8.2/10) probably the best in San Jose. I just prefer if they left the veggies on the side

Yelp
I always go to Hue for BBH takeouts or dine-in banh beos. They are really fast, affordable, and friendly. During my recent visit around 4 PM, we were seated immediately after walking in as the restaurant was pretty empty and quiet. While dining in there, I saw lots of doordash and take out orders coming in and out. Banh Xeo - 5/5 stars. Crispy, hot, and delicious! It was served with nuoc cham + chili which was very good when paired with the Banh Xeo. This was a huge portion and there were so many vegetables served on the side. Nem Nuong Cuon - 5/5 stars. These rolls literally look perfect and are quite big. The sauce that is served with it was also just as delicious. Banh Beo - 5/5 stars. These are the best banh beo I ever had, they are so flavorful and come in bite-size pieces. The fried skin on top gives it a nice texture. One order comes with 5 pieces so I recommend ordering more if you really enjoyed this dish. Overall - 5/5 stars. Service and food were amazing. No complaints and would definitely return!
google avatar

Yelp
The best banh beo spot! Each order comes with 5 plates. Two fish sauce, 1 with sliced jalapeños, one without. Beat paired with cha heo. We literally can easily eat 5 orders between 2 adults 1 kid. Service is quick! Staff is nice and friendly. It's also so packed but manage to always get seated. We always go on fridays/saturdays when it's the most busiest. But we are in n out quick. Pay at the register. Parking lot is a nightmare but it's expected with all the restaurants around.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday around noon and was seated almost immediately. We got pretty lucky because the restaurant was quite busy. You have the option of ordering via the QR code or via a server, which is super convenient especially if they're busy and you can also see more pictures online. I know that Hue is well known for their Bun Bo Hue, but I opted for the vermicelli bowl since my fiancé ordered the BBH. Banh Bot Loc (5/5) - loved the chewy mochi texture on the outside as well as the meat inside. The sauce was delicious and loved the different textures with the fried bits and fresh jalapeno. Vermicelli (4/5) - very generous portion of protein and the egg roll was perfectly fried. I do want to note that some of the meat was a little more fatty than I prefer. BBH (5/5) - lots of umami meaty flavor in the soup and loved how much veggies came with the noodles. Overall, the meal was great and will definitely be back!

Yelp
Had the Bun Rieu, Banh beo Chen, Banh Ram It and Banh Bot Loc. Bun Rieu was yummy with umami flavor. Menu description included crab paste but somehow it had both shrimp and crab flavor. The tomato and seafood paste were the distinct flavor of the soup and worked really well together. It also had a couple of cubed pieces of pork blood and fried tofu. One of the best Bun Rieus I've had from a restaurant. I like the Banh Ram It the most among the appetizers. It had both steamed and fried rice dumplings. The steamed dumpling had a sweet pork filling similar to what you can find in a Bun Bao. It also had pieces of tiny shrimp as filling. The steamed dumpling sits on top of the fried flattened rice cake which was crispy outside and soft chewy inside. The dumpling was topped with ground shrimp and green onions. I like that it had both the steamed and crispy rice cakes which makes an interesting texture and another layer of flavor. The Banh Bot Loc had similar ingredients in the pork and shrimp filling. But instead of rice dumplings the filling was in a tapioca dumpling. It had a more chewy consistency. It was topped with caramelized onions, pork rind and sprinkle of fresh green onions. The Banh Beo had the steamed rice cakes in tiny saucers and topped with ground shrimp, green onions and a piece of pork rind. Theses were served with fish sauce on the side; one with and another without jalapeno slices. The staff were ready to take the orders as soon as you sit down. They greeted us right away as we entered the restaurant. Food came out pretty quickly one after the other. Dining area was simply decorated, bright and clean. Reasonably priced. Enjoyed the food a lot.

Yelp
The hype is real. My wife couldn't wait to take me here to try their famous starter, Bánh Bèo, ground shrimp over rice cake! It's delicious and goes perfect with their sweet fish sauce & jalapeños. These are addicting! It's a set of 5 for around $6. The cake is almost mochi-textured like and has a nice gluten taste. We also ordered their Bún Bò Huẽ, which is spicy noodle soup with beef shank, tendon, ham, pork and blood cubes. This is delicious especially with squeezed lime and the slaw toppings on top. I recommend coming here during off peak hrs which is the weekday during down time. I'd avoid the lunch rush hrs as well. If you're coming on the weekends, expect a line. Inside is clean with lots of employees doing their part taking orders, cleaning tables, serving, etc. it's a quick paced restaurant so expect some type of high intense vibe. I want to come back again and try more! Huge thanks to my wife for taking me!

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday at 12:15pm and there was a 15-20 minute wait. They have a paper for you to add your name to inside the restaurant by the door. People usually hover around the entrance as they wait for the server to call. The waitlist moves pretty fast. Once you get seated, you can order via QR code or directly with server. We ordered ban beo, ban ram, bun bo hue, and bo luc lac (shaking beef) with garlic noodles. The food came very quickly. I loved the bun bo hue, the broth was super flavorful and there was a lot of meat. The banh beo and banh it ram were very fresh and light. The shaking beef was super tender and came with a large portion of greens. The garlic noodles were okay. This place is cheaper than most of the other viet places we usually go to and the portions were huge. I will definitely be back whenever I want bun bo hue.

Yelp
My boyfriend LOVES the banh beo here. We both got the bun bo hue and I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor, just personal preference. My boyfriend finished his entire bowl and four of the banh beo (I taste tested one) and LOVED all his food. Just not a big fan personally, but the food seems pretty authentic and there were a lot of customers.

Yelp
I've only had this place via DoorDash because their prices are actually reasonable and they have not disappointed me yet whenever I've craved some Vietnamese food. I've had their bun Bo hue, banh beo, banh ram, banh bot loc and they've all been way delicious. The food taste authentic and good and it's reasonably priced. Winning on fronts.

Yelp
I frequently visit Hue restaurant for their banh beo, banh ram it, and banh xeo. Surprisingly, their banh xeo outshines the one from the "Banh Xeo Ngon" restaurant in the same plaza. The banh xeo has been crispy every time, large portion, large amount of lettuce wraps given, and service is quick. Plus, seeing plenty of Vietnamese families and aunties dining here is a good sign that the food is authentic and well-loved

Yelp
Date: Thursday, July 4th, 2024 Party of: 2 Meal: Late Lunch / Early Dinner Delivery How: DoorDash DoubleDash Time Ordered: around 3:15pm Time Arrived: around 4:15pm Delivered to: Evergreen *Bún Bò Huế ($16.50) *Mì Quãng ($16.50) *Bánh Bèo ($6.95) *Bún Thịt Nướng ($16.50) I was craving Bun Bo Hue. When I realized I never tried Hue Restaurant, I figured let's give it a shot. Plus it's in a plaza with a boba tea spot and I was craving that as well. I got the banh beo since that seems to be the thing to order here. Even delivered it was good. Good amount of dried shrimp, tho I could have used more jalapeños. Added sambal for a kick. The bun bo hue broth could have used more flavor, but I was able to add 4 different hit sauces to give it some heat and savoriness. The noodles however were waaay overcooked. Maybe from transit? I'm not a huge noodle person anyways, so it didn't bother me. I did adore how much veggies they provided with the noodle soup. Since there wasn't much meat. The hubby typically likes straight up #1 pho. They don't offer it here, so he decided to try the mi quang. The broth was more tomatoey than he expected, but add a bunch of hot sauces and it cuts into the sweetness. He always orders the bun thit nuong, so that was as expected. I've had this place bookmarked for a while, so glad I finally tried this spot. REVIEW #3483

Yelp
Came back to try different options! I unfortunately have a food intolerance with beef for some reason so I always crave bun bo hue so I tried the bun tom cua hue and it was really good! Flavorful and I enjoyed the little shrimp crab balls. The banh beo is so good here, I love the fried pork fat on top. The banh bot loc was a bit on the chewy drier side, so I think next time I'll stick with the banh beo. Service is great, workers are always quick and accommodating. It's always very busy and crowded on the weekends and can get a bit cramped but worth it!

Yelp
I love Vietnamese food for its fresh veggies and intense flavors. As packed as Hue was on a Sunday late afternoon, I was prepared for a taste explosion. It was like a "tastes fine" then.. nothin'. I cheated by ordering dishes another Yelper recommended and wasn't overly impressed. I didn't get the flavor bomb, not even in the cold tumeric noodles of my dish. I didn't taste tumeric at all. The cold shredded pork roll ($6.95) was crunchy and delicious and filled with savory pork, fresh lettuce and mint, recommend. Neither of us liked the steamed and fried shrimp and pork dumpling appetizer ($5.95) that tasted unappetizingly gummy. We put it aside. With the exception of one appetizer we liked most of what we ate, we just weren't wild over it. Every ingredient was fresh, especially the crunchy shrimp. Maybe our expectations were unreasonably high. Hue was slammed with business, every table full and turning quickly though not rushing us. They did forget our drinks but brought them quickly once reminded. It was fine. Hue offers a fresh and healthy meal infused with crunchy lettuces and lots of refreshing mint, great on a warm San Jose day.

Yelp
Today, I stopped in for some takeout. They currently have special pricing for specific items on their menu items if you order for takeout. I picked up Mi Quang (tumeric noodles) for my wife to have for lunch/dinner. I didn't know until I saw the price was lower than it normally is. Score!

Yelp
The banh beo was delicious, super soft and flavorful with the shrimp bits and fish sauce! However, I got baited by the shrimp and pork plate as there were only two shrimp. The pork was also thin and hard, but still tasted good with the fish sauce. I would come back for the ban beo and bun bo hue, but not their grilled plates as there are better places for that! They were very nice to not kick my group out once we were finished eating as we were still chatting.

Yelp
I had very high expectations for this place due to yelp reviews and that huge sign that says #1 bun bo hue. Service: Slow. This place is very busy, but servers are not attentive. Banh Ram It: Good. I'd get this again. Bun Bo Hue: Meh. Soup was underwhelming and kind of bland. Noodles were overcooked and falling apart. Mi Quang: Pretty good. Bun Hen: Just okay. Bun Rieu: Soup was flavorful. Noodles were overcooked and falling apart. Not sure if the day I went was just a flop day, but not sure if I will be back any time soon.

Yelp
Took my parents to Hue since they were craving SJ Vietnamese food. I got the canh bun crab paste noodles - so good! Was craving their thick noodles with broth. And took leftovers home. My dad got the shaken beef with vegetables only - he said the beef was very tender. And my mom got the bun (vermicelli) bowl with all egg rolls. Our server was patient answering my parents questions and customizing their orders. The noodle bowls are around 15$ and we took home leftovers - so worth it. My mom liked the booths, decor and AC on a hot day :) Still one of, if not my favorite spot in SJ for Vietnamese food (northern variety).

Yelp
As a name, suggest, this restaurant specializes in food from Hue or the central Vietnam region. The atmosphere of the place is always frenetic it seems, because of its popularity. And I would say the service is good or at least what is on par with restaurants in the area. This place is family owned and operated it seems. It's been a while since my last review here. And since then, I've seriously visit this place like 3 to 4 times. It's one of my parents' favorite place in San Jose. My most recent trip, I brought my parents here to grab a nice lunch to hang out with the three of us. For the table we got the banh beo and banh it ram. My parents split a mi quang and I got the banh canh cha ca or noodle soup with fish cakes. I wanted to change it up a little bit since I've been here quite a few times now. If it's your first time visiting, definitely get the bun bo hue or the mi quang. Definitely their specialties also try and order the appetizers I mentioned above. I could see why this place is a favorite among my family. I really enjoy coming here every time.

Yelp
Hue Restaurant is bomb! I remember when I first tried this place like a decade ago, I was a Bun Bo Hue An Nam stan - no one could convince me any other spot could make as good a bun bo hue. But over the past year, my family has started going to Hue Restaurant instead, and I am a total convert! The bun bo hue here is perfectly spicy, beefy, and savory. Savory is key cause I hate when the broth of my savory noodle soups end up tasting too sweet! And it comes with so much noodles and meat. When I went back to An Nam recently, the soup tasted way too sweet and there was barely any beef T_T But my fave dish at Hue Restaurant is def the banh beo! Which is shocking because I grew up hating fish sauce and I always said banh beo is basically a vessel for inhaling fish sauce. I know, everyone in my Viet-Chinese fam thinks I'm insane. But around a year ago, I tried the banh beo here WITH fish sauce, and it is amazinggg! So soft, so smooth, and nice and savory with the nice crunch of the pork rind. Still the only spot where I will willingly eat fish sauce! No one can tell me otherwise!
