It is ok...not too bad. Great location. Staffs at cafe are the best. 🥰 Working very hard, quick, nice service, friendly and thoughtful. The cleaner is also very good. It would be good if there was kindness to let us park (we forgot to book&pay for parking) for a few minutes to unload stuffs. Pretty hard to find parking on weekdays. The quality of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and toilet paper needs to be improved a lot for the word 'boutique hotel'.

Fantastic place for short stay. Loved the atmosphere and breakfast included at their little cafe. ( Very good too!) Helpful staff. My room was in an outside wing..so a little strange. And pretty noisy with road traffic etc. But generous size and all amenities you need. Would go for an inside room next time and will definitely be back. A little gem and homey as others have said. Big thumbs up.

Just stayed there our second time with some friends, and had a great stay, came up to watch the Anzac football game, found the hotel in a very convenient location, old but charming. The room was neat and tidy, the bedding was fresh with white crispy clean sheets and the bed and pillows very comfortable. The bathroom was unfortunately too small and narrow making it very awkward for a large person to get in and out of shower but overall it was lovely and charming, hope to go there every year on Anzac Day!

I stayed with my mother in the family suite which has two bedrooms and small lounge and kitchenette. It is dark and not a nice place to spend any time in. However beds were comfortable and location excellent. The rooms in the main house upstairs are probably much nicer. |Cafe does a good coffee and staff are very nice. Location is excellent and the restaurants and pub in Woollara are great. Love this location

I had a lovely overnight stay on the 7.5.25. Received a friendly welcome from Reception staff, and helpful bus numbers. The gentleman even carried my suitcase up to my room for me.The atmosphere in Hughenden is so lovely and homely, with a fire burning in the cosy and spacious loungeroom fireplace as the weather was dark, wet and gloomy outside. My room was small and cosy with a view (to Queen Street) as I had requested. My bed was so well-made and comfortable, and bedding, so clean and crisp. Great house-keeping! Very small bathroom with a step-up but very clean. The (included) breakfast was sufficient, hot and tasty. Coffee (lattè) was one of the best! I commend and thank the staff and guests who came to my assistance when I took a fall with my luggage the next morning. Thank you all so much. I would like to stay again if in Sydney from North Coast. Best wishes for the future. Cheers, Anne

I found it difficult to write this as there were some lovely parts of this hotel but unfortunately some real negatives. |Starting with the positives:|- well located hotel in a nice area|- period building gives an old school feel|- the lady manager and barista at breakfast were super friendly and helpful|- limited free breakfast which is appreciated|- free access to a washer and dryer- again appreciated on a long trip. |- comfy bed and although a tiny room (10sqm), I was aware of this before and the room had everything I needed. |The negatives:|-the biggest issue was noise. I know it’s an old building so not well noise insulated but you could literally hear everything from the lobby to other rooms. The hotel is pet friendly (which I totally support) and one night the people in a room down the hall must’ve left their dogs in the room while popping out- they were howling for ages. I. The morning the staff would be cleaning and vacuuming and the lack of noise insulation woke me pretty much every day. There are small things that could be done to try and minimise this eg blocking spaces under room doors or replacing doors or double glazing windows - mine was internal. |- the hotel is only staffed from 7am to 3pm. This usually isn’t an issue as it’s a small hotel but it did mean when noise issues arose during these times there wasn’t much you could do. Usually I would let reception know about this sort of thing at the time so that they could try to resolve it. |- the property is in need of a refurbishment. Windows had peeling paint, bathroom grouting was a bit mouldy, carpet in my room had an iron shaped burn on it. There was an iron and ironing board in the room (which I didn’t need but is appreciated if you do), but the ironing board cover was absolutely filthy. Had I needed an iron I wouldn’t have used the ironing board. Also in a small room, this probably could be removed for more wardrobe space. |- my room didn’t have aircon which wasn’t promised to me so I was ok with it. Except opening the one external window resulted in ants and mosquitoes in the room. I know this is Australia where bugs are plenty and nothing that can be done about that but perhaps that calls for AC in all rooms- especially in a Sydney summer. |- I had an issue with wifi on the first day and night. When I reported it to the male manager he loved the router and it then worked fine. His manner in helping though made it seem like I was the only person to have ever had this issue and it was as a result of something I had done. Given that the service from the other staff was lovely, this stood out as a negative experience. ||I really hope that the hotel takes this I. The co structure manner it is meant as I really feel like with a few small changes this could have been a 5 star review.

My entire stay was a delight! The staff is incredibly caring and personable, always ready to assist. Don't be afraid of the "cosy" room.... it's lovely! Will never stay anywhere else when in Sydney

Had a great stay at the Hughenden. Gary at reception was so friendly and helpful, the room was lovely and clean and it was a great location to get to a concert at the Hordern. The free breakfast was a nice surprise and they make a damn good coffee. Will definitely be back, thanks for a great stay!!

Yelp
I thought they would show some compassion and let me cancel my room because of the smoke from the bush fires but no I am going to be forced to go to Sydney and stay in a hotel. No hotel should have anon refundable policy (And don't claim it is because of velocity, you decide your fairs)

Yelp
Hotels in Sydney are a dime a dozen. There's so many to choose from and they all look pretty much the same. Except for this little boutique hotel in Woollahra called The Hughenden Hotel. It's a Victorian Manor rich in history and beautifully restored to give their guests something different from today's normal hotel offerings. There are marble fireplaces, reading lounges, Victorian dining rooms, a grand staircase, and even art exhibitions. They offer warm, personal service that adds to the charm of the place and the pleasantness of your stay. And if you're wondering how much it costs, their rates are very affordable. You get great value for your money AND you have a one-of-a-kind hotel experience. So if you're thinking of visiting Sydney, The Hughenden Hotel should be your hotel of choice.
