Where to Eat the Best Salads in Houston | Eater Houston

"Timbergrove’s cozy neighborhood tavern serves up some of the area’s best Vietnamese food along with an incredible craft beer selection, so salads might not be your first thought, but the kale salad is an unsung favorite. Shredded kale is served with feta, red onion, and other mixed veggies that further prove kale is indeed a superfood. Top it with the popular shaking beef or any of the other proteins on the menu to complete your meal." - Katie Holtman

12 Affordable Houston Restaurants for Family Night | Eater

"Because of its fun vibe and progressive Vietnamese-American eats — you’ll have the spring rolls and country fried steak, thank you very much — this raucous tavern is a favorite among everyone in the family. Although it’s currently takeout-only, kids will love the baskets of buttermilk chicken tenders and waffle fries as much as parents do the steaming plates of shaking beef. Don’t forget to add some steamed pork dumplings, eggrolls, and sweet chile wings for sharing." - Vox Creative

Google
Great service and excellent food; there is a nice selection of draft beers as well. We had calamari, a burger, a rice platter with pork, fried rice, fried egg, and an egg roll. We sat outside on the covered patio, but they also had plenty of seating inside. I recommend checking this place out.

Google
Food was different from the usual Vietnamese food I have tried, lacked a little salt , but maybe that's just how they make it . Service was attentive and quick. My only complaint would be that instead of getting full slices of chicken, that it be in strips so it would be easier to consume

Google
I brought my kids to Hughie’s Tavern and Vietnam Grill and we had an awesome experience! The chicken tenders were a big hit—crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I was also impressed with their great beer selection. One of the best parts? They’ve added a green space for kids to play, which made it super family-friendly. Plus, the fans and misters outside are a great touch for staying cool. Can’t say enough good things about this place—it’s become a new favorite for us!

We absolutely love Hughie’s! And we’re so excited when they opened their new restaurant in our neighborhood!! Fun, warm atmosphere and fabulous food as always! They deserve 10 stars!!

Google
Our group enjoyed our dinner during the Friday reverse happy hour (8pm - 10pm). Chicken fried steak is always a hit. Service was a bit slow but still a great place to eat.

Google
Absolutely fantastic! The food is so darn good and on top of that, an amazing beer selection! Hughie’s just got added to my rotation!! 🙏🏼

Google
Shaking beef was cooked to perfection! Service was great, a little too frequent on the check up to my liking but better more than not. Perfect place for a quick Friday lunch!!

Google
We really love the new location. The naked basil wings and spring rolls were excellent. We really only ordered cocktails and appetizers last night but were very happy with the food, service and atmosphere. It was surprisingly quiet. Great parking. Clean restrooms. Friendly staff.

Yelp
My husband and I have been coming to Hughie's for years so we were thrilled learn they opened a location minutes away from our new house. The food is ALWAYS amazing and the service is top notch. Today we watched as the staff went above and beyond to accommodate new customers who were not native english speaking learn and understand the menu. The bartender even brought out a tray full of sample beers for the guy to try to break the language barrier. I can't say enough good things about this place. Such a gem.

Yelp
Damn yall! I wasn't thrilled when I saw the Main st location was closing, but knew they'd been working on a new spot and have been excited to check it out. They knocked it outta the park too. Parking was never great when it was busy, but the new lot is HUGE, the patio is massive. Inside looks exactly the way the old Hughie's did, but some how new and improved. Maybe it's the new bar. Definite upgrade from Main. Staff are all familiar faces. And they were all there Saturday. Nice seeing them all make the move to the new spot. Food is same as always, and they now serve cocktails! My only gripe, this location is about twice the distance Main at was from mi casa, so both locations are now a 11 mi drive, but that's not your problem. :)

Yelp
I really wanted to enjoy my experience here, but I was disappointed by the lack of awareness around dietary restrictions. I asked whether the vermicelli noodles were gluten-free and clarified that I meant whether they were made only of rice or if they contained any wheat. The server stared at me blankly and didn't offer to check with the kitchen. As someone with a medical reason for avoiding gluten, I always try to ask respectfully and clearly. It's frustrating (and honestly a little concerning) when restaurant staff can't answer basic questions about ingredients or aren't trained to follow up with the kitchen or a manager. I hope the team will consider improving communication around allergens and special diets. It really makes a difference.

Yelp
My friend Tri D. and I stopped in for dinner after searching for restaurants on Yelp. I hadn't eaten at Hughie's before this visit. We were greeted immediately and seated at a booth. Beth was our server and she was extremely friendly and very informative when we had questions about the menu. One thing I really appreciated is that she brought over HRW menus (they were offering dinner for $39). Some places will not bring out an HRW menu unless you specifically request it. We weren't planning to do the HRW offering, but I was happy to see that we had the option without having to ask. I ordered the Kale Salad with Salmon. This salad was so good! It's probably one of the better salads I've had in quite some time. The salmon was cooked medium and it was seasoned well. I really enjoyed the raspberry vinaigrette dressing as it gave a nice sweetness to the salad. The different ingredients provided a nice texture contrast which I thoroughly enjoyed. Tri had wanted to order pho when he saw the hoisin and Sriracha sauces on the table, however Beth informed us that pho is only served from October to February (it was September when we visited). He ended up ordering the Shaking Beef Fried Rice. I tried a small piece of the beef and it was tender and very flavorful. He also ordered a Thai Tea which he liked (if you know Tri, you know he has a high standard for tea). I didn't have anything to drink besides water, but I noticed that they have an extensive beer menu. If you're not in the mood for beer, they do offer wine. They also offer daily specials (except for Sundays) and they currently have a special on Fridays for Lent. Both locations are a bit of a drive for me, but with excellent food and excellent service, it's worth it!

Yelp
Hughies new spot on Shepard is beautiful the ambiance the space the outdoor patio, it is top tier with screens everywhere inside for games and beer menu. The service was great I was greeted at the door to get seated but sadly I was just doing a quick to go order so I'll try the sit down option later. I ordered a bahn mi and a Vietnamese coffee which both were delicious and came out quick and the staff was super nice I wish I had spent more time there to try more of the food options but I guess I need to come back.

Yelp
Heard they opened up a new location nearby, so decided to give it chance! We can during a lent Friday', evening and they actually have a lent menu! We came around 730, and the place was fairly packed, but was quickly seated within minutes. The service was excellent, they were very tentative to our drinks and very knowledgeable on our dishes. We ordered off the lent menu and everything was excellent. We had the tumeric fish and chips, and shrimp fried rice. They don't skimp on the shrimp Thats for sure. They were huge and juicy! Everything wss flavorful and largely portioned. We sat outside in the patio, cause the weather was perfect, also equipped with fans and heaters if needed.

Yelp
This is the first time I came here with friends who love Hughie's. I think they moved from their old location to this one. This was pretty big and spacious. If you love Asian Vietnamese fusion then try them. We went in and just picked a table and you can sit where you like.. they have a huge outdoor space as well. The ambiance is warm and good music. We ordered a couple of starters and drinks. If you like beers they have so many choices. I gave them 5 stars as their fish and chips were really good. So far the best one I have tried in years.

Yelp
I love Hughie's. Having known about the place for years, I finally decided to make a visit one day. What I really like about this Vietnamese spot is the fact it reminds me of old restaurants which are no longer around. At this point, there's a fairly long list of these places which only exist in memories. But just in terms of the high quality of everything I purchased, Hughie's is a solid 5-star establishment. The sautéed beef banh mi is probably my favorite beef banh mi at this point. The meat was tender, the baguette upper echelon, and they were generous with veggies (cucumber, carrot, cilantro and jalapeños). The spring rolls were also really good (shrimp/pork), and I really liked the peanut sauce. Next time, I'd like to try one of the shaking dishes or perhaps a tofu banh mi. The service at the counter was great. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Tavern and Vietnamese Grille. Friend was in the neighborhood and we settled on lunch and found Hughies. It was a dreary slightly rainy and cold Saturday afternoon. Parking - lots of businesses (gym, jujitsu, nails, dessert, insurance and Hughies) so spots are premium. We had to wait for someone to leave (8-10 min) Inside, full bar with both table and booth seating. Scan the QR code and the menu pops up. They were promoting Pho Saturdays so it was perfect. Ordered: filet mignon pho, combo brisket and meatball pho, order of cha gios (viet fried spring rolls) Pho (3/5) - pros - good portion of noodles and meat, cons - soup was lukewarm not piping hot as most places and the broth was not hearty enough for me - did not have a deep rich meat broth taste. Cha gio (3/ 5) - 4 to an order, nice size - taste was standard, sauce was better than most places, came with 2 pieces of lettuce and pickled daikon and carrots Overall, it was a nice lunch and the place was a good mix of tavern and restaurant. They play some music but it was not too loud. Staff was nice. Probably would not do weekend during lunch, maybe during off hours or a weekends. Interested in trying their com tam and bun options and maybe a banh mi.

Yelp
Hughie's was an awesome surprise ; we didn't plan on coming here but we were happy we did I went with the shaking beef and my buddy with the shaking chicken glad to say both plates were delicious. The service was great & we really enjoyed our experience

Yelp
My boyfriend has told me to try this place last night. I had to process my experience for 24 hours before writing this review. I ended up getting a few menu items to try. I ordered 2 Pork Sandwiches (1 without Cucumbers), Crispy Dumplings, and a Kids Grilled Cheese Sandwich with fries. The Pork Sandwiches was really good, the pork was thin and seasoned well. The bread was toasted with a thin layer of mayo. The veggies was fresh and crisp. The dumplings was probably in my top 3 favorite dumplings of all time. It was so good, I was close to going back and getting more, the sauce that came with it compliments the dumplings so well. My son really liked his grilled cheese and fries. I also had fries with my pork sandwich and it was really good, crispy and seasoned well. The service was amazing. 2 young men greeted me fairly quickly and got my order ready to go. The restaurant was busy, not too packed on a Monday. I will come back soon.

Yelp
We used to go to the Hughie's off of Main Street but they've closed that location and this is the newest one. We had tried the one off of 18th for Eat Drink HTX week and thought this one was worth a try. It's off the main road and there's a huge sign so you know where to turn because it isn't at a light. We came during lunch on a Friday and here's the situation. 1) Parking: Spacious parking lot with a drive thru type situation going on to the side of it. Had no trouble finding a parking space. It also appears to have street parking should the lot get full. 2) Building: Huge and lots of seating and very open. There's an outdoor patio they were working on for lights and what not but it looks like it is either open when not being worked on or will be very soon. 3) Food: I came for the Friday gumbo special. The menu said it had crab, crawfish, fish, and shrimp. Crab was there but not a lot. Lots of good tender fish pieces. Shrimp were sliced in half which was weird to me. I had two pieces of crawfish. My husband enjoyed it and I've included a picture of it. The bowl is HUGE. I should have gotten the cup. I had enough to bring home. I did not love it but it was still good. I like my thinner with a darker roux so it's really whatever you prefer. We also got the fried dumplings kids meal and my son enjoyed that and ate all of it. My husband got the spicy shaking beef fried rice. Hughie's has this on lock down. The beef is always tender and the rice is tasty. I really need to get on board and try their non Asian/Vietnamese food the next go around. 4) Service was fast and table clean up was expedient. Water was always filled. There was a guy working really hard to refill water and bus tables. I was impressed. Waitress was nice and even put our to go order in to time it so it wouldn't be cold when we left. The 18th street location is closer for us but because this place has a patio and better parking, we would probably choose this one.

Yelp
Great service and cool concept. Great selection of beers and food has wonderful flavor. Get shaken shrimp and can feed two. Very friendly service

Yelp
Wasn't blocking any space, thank you! Shouldn't assume I was, not professional but expected.

Yelp
This was my first time here, but this spot is well known and has been here a while. I think it's unique for offering Vietnamese and American food in a very casual setting. Service was friendly, for some reason on the particular day we came (Friday around 5pm),a ton of families with small children were there so it's family friendly if that's something you're worried about. The braised pork belly was ok, a little drier than I expected. Both fried baskets were got were solid, I like the batter they use and the fries were perfectly crispy. You can't really taste much tumeric on the fish and chips though, but it was still good.

Yelp
I've had the pleasure of dining at Hughie's multiple times over a few years, and each visit has left me craving more! This hidden gem in Houston serves great food. The Banh Mi sandwiches are a must-try - crispy baguettes filled with tender meats, pickled carrots, cilantro, and spicy chili sauce. I personally order the lemongrass beef and it always hits the spot. The Vermicelli Bowl is another standout dish. The noodles are good and it's topped with generous portions of grilled meat (I opt for the beef), lettuce, carrots and a fish sauce. The combination of flavors and textures is pure magic. What sets Hughie's apart is the welcoming atmosphere, attentive staff, and great selection of craft beer, which is also displayed on untappd. Moreover, it's a great place to watch sports since they have TVs + craft beer + great food. *Will I return?* Absolutely! Hughie's has become my go-to spot for Vietnamese cuisine in Houston. Unfortunately, I don't live in Houston anymore but it's always my first stop when I arrive. Peace

Yelp
What an amazing viet spot! Delicious food and super nice service. The spring rolls were refreshing and tasty. The shaking chicken vermicelli bowl was flavorful. Great atmosphere as well.

Yelp
A casual Vietnamese American restaurant with a wide variety of fusion food including vegetarian options. Formerly Queen Burger, they have renovated themselves since long and call themselves a unique hybrid of classic Vietnamese with an American twist. The interiors is actually more American than what you would normally associate with an Vietnamese restaurant. I remember we had a huge group so this fit into our interest- both budget and variety wise, very well. Got the crispy dumplings and the tofu spring roll for starters. The dumplings were especially good, crispy outside, soft inside, dipped in that tobacco sauce, was really yummy, but so were the spring rolls, on a more mellow side though, soft, spongy with a side of that classic peanut sauce. For main course it was just the Banh Mi with egg on the side, a request they accommodated. The bread was fresh and soft, like just off the oven so the sandwich taste was really enhanced. Very nice. What was especially great was the Vietnamese tiramisu. Priced at about $8, it really hit the tastebuds with the Khalua. I would not suggest it for kids, but it is definitely worth an indulgence for an adult. Service was considerably fast which was appreciated.

Gary L.

Yelp
Great food! Service was good with nice ambiance. They have a nice outdoor area for kids, etc.

Yelp
My friend Tiffany J. and I were in the area and this spot popped up and their reviews were solid so we decided to give it a try. Walking in we felt the warm welcome from the staff especially our server. She went over the menu with us & since there was Hoisin and Sriracha sauce on the table I assumed that they had Pho. I wanted Pho, Unfortunately it's seasonal so they only serve it from October to February, which is understandable because Pho is suited for cold weather. I would take the Hoisin sauce off the table during off season because I can't think of anything on their menu that requires that sauce. Also, that way customers won't be disappointed when they're informed that they don't have Pho during March-September. The menu is pretty self explanatory, it's a twist of American and Vietnamese dishes, so there's something for everyone. I decided to ordered their Thai tea as my drink & Shaking beef fried rice and my friend got the grilled salmon with Kale salad. My Thai tea was refreshing with the right amount of sweetness. I could've ordered two more to go. The shaking beef was very good, the beef cubes were marinated to perfection bursting with flavors. The rice was soft and fluffy & the caramelized onions added some texture to the dish. I would've like the beef cubes to be more rare but it was still tendered. I will say that the portion is a little smaller for the price tag but I was still full. My friend kale salad with salmon was solid, the fish was moist (maybe 2 mins less on the grill and it would've been perfection for me). Everything that was in the salad along with the sauce went well together. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience. The service was great, the ambiance is chill and inviting & the food was good. They do have a daily special which you can find on their website. On Thursday it's half price for all the wines. Will I come back? Yep, came back for the 2nd time for a to go order & ordered the same shaking beef with fried rice & got the same results.

P S.

Yelp
We love this place, driving in from Clear Lake once a month or so. The fresh spring rolls are some of the best in Houston, and the shaking dishes are wonderful. While I'm no fan of kale... their Kale salad is excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
Love the new location. The food is always excellent and so is the service. I like the little outdoor patio they have here too. Definitely my go to Vietnamese food

Yelp
Hughie's is a fusion country Vietnamese style restaurant. We opted to try the country fried steak and grilled salmon. Both dishes came with mashed potatoes and a salad. I enjoyed everything, but the dishes do have a strong fish sauce taste to them so if you're not used to it, you might not like the taste. The country fried steak was crispy and tender, and I liked that the mashed potatoes had some potato chunks in them. The salad was a bit sour and had the most fish sauce taste out of everything; I liked how it broke up the heaviness of the rest of the dish and how it had a variety of textures with the pecans, onions, and kale, but I think they could go a little lighter with the dressing. The salmon needed some sauce/seasoning but was nice and flaky. The dumplings were good but nothing special. For dessert, we got the caramel pecan cheesecake and Vietnamese coffee tiramisu. Both were okay, tasted average. Service was fine. There's indoor and covered outdoor seating. The parking lot is a little small, but we managed to find a spot.

Sheila K.

Yelp
Great tasting Vietnamese food. I had the Shaken Beef with Kale Salad. My go to dish. If you are in the area try. Lots of local beer however I'm not a beer drinker.

Yelp
This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant which draws young and old and families. Their parking is on both sides of the restaurant, but note the left side is more roomy. Their patio is semi-secluded, and I believe fans and mist devices help cool it. At 4 pm on the weekend, it is just starting to fill, and by 6 pm it is pretty full, with just 1-2 inside tables available (meals arrive quickly, so tables turn quickly). It can be noisy when packed.
google avatar

Amy P.

Yelp
Great service and consistently good food. We always get the steamed pork dumplings for app. Husband gets the fusion fish and chips. I get vermicelli or bahn mi. Son gets the shaking beef.

Yelp
Cozy Vietnamese American gastropub in the heights. Got the shaking chicken speciality. Loved the kale salad, complimented the chicken well. The chicken portion size was a bit small, but flavorful. They have parking out front as well.

Yelp
we sat next to these amazing people. We were just talking about random things, laughing, spoke about our passions and how crazy having fish sperm for the first time was ! He told us he owned this place called Hughies. I got excited because Ive been coming here ever since I was a freshman in high school. I'm graduating college this year. Thanks Paul, you're an amazing person. Im eating a Shaking Beef Bahn Mi with an egg and a side of fried rice rn. Thinking about this night, Spend your money here.

Yelp
While my palate & pocket were spoiled by past & current Vietnamese spots in Midtown, it's exciting to hear that Hughie's has moved its N. Main St location even closer to home for us. The vermicelli dishes have exciting additions of flavor and the shaking shrimp and beef are a must try. I'm curious to see if the new spot also includes a bar with tasty beer selections & the same awesome staff. Making plans to go soon!

Yelp
Hughie's has long been on my bucket list of places to try. Affordable Vietnamese food with beer on tap sounds like a fun combination! While I originally was set on some Vietnamese fare for lunch, I happen to see that they served chicken fried steak, which happens to be one of my favorites when done right. Unfortunately most places fail at serving a delicious chicken fried steak, but I had a good feeling given the high ratings for the establishment. Well my feeling was right! This was an amazing chicken fried steak! The seasoned batter clung to the meat, the pepper cream gravy was the right consistency, and the steak was tender! Simply delish! I did have to ask for more gravy, but that was easily rectified. The mashed potatoes it came with could have used a bit more butter and cream, but they were okay. The kale salad was the perfect way to balance the usually rich heavy meal, and it was much appreciated! I didn't partake in beer this time, but they seem to offer a good variety. Definitely plan on returning for that delicious chicken fried steak and perhaps one of their Vietnamese dishes.

Yelp
My family and I had a pretty good dinner here. Upon walking in, it was a bit loud due to the dinner crowd. Because of this, service was on the slower side but was definitely more attentive after some of the tables cleared out. I tried their Houston Restaurant Week menu. I got the Vietnamese mango salad, the cognac peppercorn steak, and the pandan creme brulee. The mango salad was pretty good, and I liked the freshness of the mango. Regarding the steak, I wish it could've been cooked to my liking since it came out well done. The mashed potatoes, however, were very creamy. Lastly, the pandan creme brulee was a delight. It had a solid sugar crust and had a nice pandan/coconut flavor. Other items I tried were my dad's shaking beef, my brother's Vietnamese ceviche, seafood crispy noodles, and Vietnamese coffee tiramisu. The shaking beef had a nice lemongrass flavor, the ceviche was ok, the noodles were very crispy and were tasty when paired with their chili oil, and the tiramisu had a wonderful coffee flavor. They also offer a lot of various beers on tap if that's your thing. And because it's not, this is probably why I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way and make a second visit.

Yelp
Try chicken rice or shaken beef next time. 4 - Shaken Chicken, no onions. More words to meet minimum length.

Yelp
Always delicious, great beer selection. Seating can be crowded, with inside getting loud quickly and outside being at the mercy of traffic.

Yelp
1st time trying out this location having been to the one off 18th street. Good casual Vietnamese-American fusion with a great concept of draft beers, food, and TVs making it a sports-bar feel with a more pleasant ambience. Menu had alot of the classic Vietnamese cuisine options like the Spring Rolls, Banh Mi, Vermicelli bowls and Rice Plates.. I wanted to try the Kale salad but unfortunately they don't allow customization as it was pre-mixed (can't do feta). Got to try the Vermicelli bowl with an added egg roll, portions were ok. good mix of flavors, a bit overpriced for what it was but understandable. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food and service was responsive. Restaurant also features indoor/outdoor patio seating. overall a solid casual fusion place we see alot more now these days. They also have daily specials (check out their website) Food 7.5/10 Service 7/10 Ambience 7/10 Price/Value 6/10

Yelp
Hughie's is a solid choice if you're craving Vietnamese food, especially Bahn Mi. If you're a craft beer fan to boot, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. They have a massive selection of craft beers, local and beyond. FYI: They don't serve Pho. They have just about everything else you'd ever want, and you'll be fine. Interior is casual, wooden tables, big bar top, and lots of tv screens rotating through the craft beer selections. Service has always been friendly, fast, and accurate. Come for the Vermicelli bowls, Bahn Mi, Shaking Beef/chicken/pork, and a pint of some rare tasty brew.
google avatar

Sonie P.

Yelp
This place is delicious! They have a happy hour of some sort each night, including the weekend. Banh mi was amazing. We got the shaking tofu which was also fantastic. Great selection of beers on draft. Casual vibe with chill service. Will be back!

Yelp
In a word, Hughie's fusion food was incredible. I had Vietnamese Spring rolls with pork AND shrimp while my buddy had just shrimp sans pork. We also enjoyed fried sweet chili wings, perhaps the best tasting of any I have had to date (and I'm pretty damned old). Enough with the appetizers. I had a Viet pork vermicelli dish that could have been served at any reputable and authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Beer & stout selections? Outstanding. Get there early, it's rightfully popular.

Yelp
Nice spot to stop for a drink and a meal, very solid 4 stars. Nice selection of beer on tap and a good amount of Vietnamese and American dishes on the menu. Daily specials on drinks! Shaking Beef, was some of the best I have had at a restaurant in Houston. The beef was large tender chunks with a flavorful marinade. The Kale salad that comes with the meal is interesting. It had a nice dressing and the combination of taste and textures set it apart from an ordinary side salad. I enjoyed the salad, but could see how some people would not like it. Grilled Pork Banh Mi. It was not bad the grilled pork have very good and the bread was flaky, but still soft inside. I would say its a solid average Banh Mi. The service was good and the restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. If you are in the area and want a night cap or a happy hour drink and bite you could do much worse than Hughie's. Would recommend and return.

Yelp
Went with a group and loved the food and beer selection! Enjoyed the tofu spring rolls and banh mi. Other people in the party tried the shaking beef and vermicelli bowl which they thought were delicious. Friendly service and a nice patio if the weather is cooperating.

Yelp
Flavor want there at all. The mushy rice made everything even worse. 20 bucks with to tip... I won't be back...

Yelp
The food did not disappoint. I love trying new restaurants and this one didn't disappoint. Crispy dumplings tasted wonderful. They have a very nice beer selection.

Yelp
Went to soft opening at new location off Shepherd. Place looks really nice and you go in first to the counter where you can order drinks and if you're ready, you can place your food order. If not, you can seat yourself and a server will be there. I had the vermicelli bowl with shaking chicken and spouse got a pork banh mi, as he always does. Both were delicious. He also likes the nice selection of beers. All employees were very friendly and helpful and the manager came by and visited a couple of times and he said there were 2 pickleball courts coming and they should have their liquor license soon. Nice guy. I think he is actually the owner. Much prefer this location over 18th st.

Yelp
Lemongrass tofu specialty is my favorite. Got regular dipping sauce with my takeout spring rolls so a little comment ding this time but Hughie rarely disappoints.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had lunch here last week and it was good, but not a place we would necessarily go out of our way to go to again just because there's so many amazing restaurants in Houston to choose from. We did like it though! Parking lot will likely be full, but there's street parking near by. It's a walk in and seat yourself kind of place. The service was really good!! We had a very attentive and kind waitress. We ordered steam dumplings and split an entree. The dumplings were a little sticky, but we liked the sauce that came with it! We got the Shaking Chicken Specialty, it was pretty good but nothing crazy. It came with a kale salad which was good, but didn't necessarily pair with the meal. The environment of the restaurant is very casual, with plenty of booths and tables to choose from.
