This is hands down one of the best steakhouses in the area. The crab cakes were absolutely divine, I had the salmon with the glaze on the side that was the perfect balance. Jason the manager came around to check on us, very kind. Definitely worth a visit.

Dinner for two with tip $255 well worth it located in the rivers Casino Here’s the real question when I go back in a heartbeat !

We all have this first-time experience. I have tried frog legs for a starter. It was delicious. Scott, the server, was very informative about the menu. The asparagus is a must-try.

Very surprised by an old school bar and restaurant in a Casino! We had delicious cocktails and then appetizers. The mussels were delicious and a huge portion! Bonus - no cigarette smoke at all!

We decided to plan our family Thanksgiving meal out with our family this year. We chose Hugo’s since we’ve had many great meals there and at Gibsons over the past 25+ years. We had a table of 12. We were sat at a long table. There were 2 servers assigned to us. Nice enough guys, but they were not as attentive as I would expect at a restaurant where with that many people, the bill will be substantial. I like to order drinks and wine, but the amount of times the team checked on us, I never had a chance to discuss wine with them. The pacing on the food was off. We probably should have been more clear, but they didn’t time various dishes to come out in timing that made sense. For example, my wife and I ordered crab cakes, but they were delivered at the same time as our entrees. We ordered a bunch of sides for the table plus soup. Had to send the soup back as it was served room temperature. The brussel sprouts were advertised by the servers as coming out “crispy,” but they were so soggy, we asked them to be removed from the check. We ordered calamari and it was average at best. I ordered the pork chop and it was very good and their crab cakes are likely the best in all of Chicago so that’s a dish I’d always recommend. They also do nice oysters. We had a snafu related to ordering gift cards. It was not handled well, but thanks to the manager, Jason G., he went above and beyond to try to help us rectify the situation as best as he could. Overall, we were disappointed in our experience, especially since it was Thanksgiving, but as I mentioned, we’ve dined a lot at Gibsons and Hugo’s over the years and I won’t let one below average experience prevent us from returning. I might suggest choosing a different spot for a large gathering, especially on a holiday.

We were really looking forward to dinner at Hugo’s as longtime weekly customers of Gibsons on Rush, we figured a night at the casino with friends followed by dinner next door would be a fun change. Unfortunately, our experience at the bar with Joe the bartender was nothing short of a disaster — and a surprising disappointment for a Gibson’s-group restaurant. From the moment we sat down, it was clear that Joe listens to no one but himself. I ordered a Grey Goose martini, easy dirty with blue cheese olives — not a complicated drink. What arrived was a short glass with no blue cheese olives and the question, “Do you need fruit?” That set the tone for the night. Next, he pushed soup on us relentlessly, even after we said multiple times we weren’t interested. He was so insistent that two people finally ordered soup just to end the pressure. We placed our full dinner order — appetizers, salads, steaks/fish, and sides — and within five minutes the soup, salad, and both entrées arrived at once. No pacing, no explanation, no apology — just “here it is, eat it.” When I told him it was unacceptable that we needed to choose between soup, salad, and entrées all at the same time, his solution was to take the steak back but leave the fish at the table, guaranteeing it would get cold. A few minutes later, our crab appetizer arrived — after the entrées. At that point we were completely out of order and the meal was a mess. We finished what we could and asked for the steak back. As expected, it was totally overcooked and crisp from sitting under a heat lamp. Meanwhile the fish was cold. At a restaurant of this caliber — especially one associated with Gibsons — this should never happen. By the time we got the bill… we normally would have stayed for dessert and after-dinner drinks. The Turtle sundae is one of our favorites and we would’ve happily shared one with the group. But instead of owning the experience, Joe continued to blame everything and everyone but himself. At that point, the only thing left to say was check please. We absolutely love Gibsons and Hugo’s other locations — we’re there weekly for a reason — and we know what outstanding service looks like. This was the complete opposite. Joe has got to go, or at minimum, needs serious retraining. Hugo’s is too good a restaurant to allow the bar experience to sink like this.
