The experience was average and did not fully justify the price. The atmosphere was pleasant, but the service was not among the best. Several staff members seemed inexperienced and unfamiliar with the level of attention expected in a higher-end restaurant. The food was inconsistent, and the black pasta was unfortunately overcooked, which was disappointing. On a positive note, the team did offer us a complimentary dessert, which was a nice gesture and appreciated. Overall, it was an okay experience, but there is room for improvement, especially considering the pricing.

We came on Friday (10/03) for our wedding anniversary dinner. And boy, it didnt disappoint. We ordered the specials of the night along with oysters and calamari and it it was all super delicious. Calamari was fried to perfection along with a yummy marinara. Oysters had a nice taste and delightful vinegar/garlic sauce. My husband's beef something was very filling and he loved it. My halibut with corn puree was sooo delicious. I will definitely wanna have it again. 💖❤️

We visited Hugo’s for the Thanksgiving Feast and, while there were some standout elements, the overall experience did not match the premium pricing. Atmosphere & Décor The atmosphere was excellent and the décor throughout the restaurant was truly fabulous—warm, inviting, and festive in all the right ways. However, for a fine dining holiday experience, the tables were noticeably out of place. They were the same type of tables you would find at a casual $8-burger spot, which clashed with the otherwise beautiful décor and the elegant chairs that did match the occasion. Food Quality The meal began on a high note. The roasted butternut squash soup was absolutely sublime, one of the best parts of the entire evening. The entrées also showed great promise. The meat was well-seasoned, tender, and served warm. However, the temperature of several sides was noticeably inconsistent: The cranberry sauce was cold, The green beans and mashed sweet potatoes were barely warm at best, Despite this, the flavors themselves were spot-on, showing that the kitchen knows how to season well—execution just missed the mark. Desserts Unfortunately, dessert was a disappointment. The pumpkin pie suffered from an off ratio—the crust and filling were nearly the same height. The crust was extremely hard, and the filling had little to no flavor. The ice cream was frozen solid, while the whipped cream had the right texture but lacked flavor. Additionally, one dessert arrived missing its caramel decoration, which only further diminished the presentation and overall impression. Service Service was good—polite and attentive—but not excellent. For a special occasion dinner priced at this level, we expected a more elevated and polished service experience. Value For a party of six, the total was roughly $650, with only one special drink included. Considering the inconsistencies in food temperature, the disappointing desserts, and the mismatch in table quality, the meal simply did not justify the price. Overall Hugo’s has a beautiful atmosphere, excellent décor, and some truly delicious elements (especially the soup and the seasoning of the meats). But with the high cost of the Thanksgiving Feast, the gaps in execution—both culinary and service-wise—made the experience fall short of what was promised and expected.

We had our welcome luncheon, for my daughter's wedding, at Hugo's on October 9th. The restaurant is lovely and had the upscale vibe we were looking for. I worked with Maria, many months in advance, to select the perfect menu for our out of town guests. They went over and beyond to make sure our guests were well taken care of. Several of us had the Lobster Cobb Salad and it was delicious! Please consider this hidden gem as Chef Hugo offers so many delicious meals, and the waitstaff is so kind and accommodating!

Google
One of the best meals we’ve ever had at a restaurant. The service was excellent and the food. THE FOOD! We will be coming back no doubt! We visit about 4 times a year and have tried most restaurants in Glenwood and Carbondale. This blows them all out of the water.

Mike G.

Google
Today we visited for brunch and were totally blown away, again. Soup, pasta, burger, wings, Dutch pancakes, salmon Benedict; all have been incredible across different visits. Chef, your passion shows through your food every time - no matter what time of day I’ve been in. Awesome flavors, period. Professional, attentive, and courteous service helping seal the deal as to why we keep coming back. Hidden Gem of Glenwood.

We were super excited to try Hugo’s for the first time. There was ample off-street parking and we were lucky enough to get a spot right outside the front door. We were greeted by a server and told we could select any table. Once seated we ordered drinks and an appetizer to share. The wine list was somewhat limited and our server had very little knowledge of wine options. The appetizer was well prepared and made a great presentation. Shortly after finishing the appetizer our entrees arrive. The timing was a little off but not too noticeable. The server should have marked the table so we didn’t have to wait for our steak knives after the entrees were served. The servers we were interacting with spoke very softly which made it hard to understand what they were saying. The overall ambiance was rather poor. When the restaurant is busy it can be challenging trying to conduct a conversation due to excessive background noise. This made it difficult to conduct any conversation. The overall decor doesn’t align well with the brand and is noticeably worn and stained. Not sure we will be back…but pleased we gave Hugo’s a try.

Google
It was our first day in town and we couldn’t have ended the night in a better way! Eating at Hugo’s was amazingly delicious! Everything was just incredible, from the presentation, to the combination of flavors, the texture of the vegetables were on point, the sauces were exquisite and the dessert was a delicatessen. We are definitely going back and if you are in town and enjoy fine dining, Hugo’s restaurant is a must! It was Michelin quality! 🤩

Yelp
The chicken popsicles were delish! We really enjoyed the side of veggies and the sea bass. Everything taste fresh and high end. The testaments it self is very clean with a nice atmosphere.

Yelp
What a little gem! We visit Glenwood Springs two or three times a year and I've noticed Hugo's while passing by time after time. It's an unassuming property I'd call the anchor corner of a strip mall. I've seen cars in their lot and patrons coming or going, so it's been apparent that Hugo's enjoys some degree of patronage. Now I know why. My wife and I dropped in for dinner. The interior decor sharply contrasts the strip mall facade. It's clean, beautiful and welcoming. The lighting is perfect: light enough to read the menu, but dim enough to exude elegance and charm, even romance. The staff were friendly. They knew their menu and were able to answer every question we had about the food's preparation, content, or presentation. The service was exceptional. I don't go out of my way to eat pasta dishes at restaurants. But I have eaten carbonara in Europe and I'm a big fan. So when I see carbonara as an offering, I'm always tempted to give it a try. Sadly, I'm always disappointed. The carbonara sauce is always lackluster and, honestly, a let down. But I keep looking, hoping to find that dish that equals those I had in Europe more than avdecade ago. Tonight I scored at Hugo's. It's without a doubt the best carbonara I've eaten in North America. It's the perfect balance of traditional ingredients. It's creamy, smooth and flavorful. It reminded me of the carbonara dish that first made me a fan. And my wife had a similar experience. She had pappardelle and short rib ragu. It to was top-drawer. Delicious in every respect. The plates were beautifully garnished and tasty. The portions were generous and filling. The cocktails were as beautiful as the entrees. And they were reportedly tasty, too (I'm a non-drinker). Desert was a unique and delicious pistachio crème brûlée. We will be returning, for sure.

Yelp
Don't know where to start! The entire dining experience was the best we have enjoyed since moving to the Roaring Fork Valley. Their attention to every detail; service, beverages, food....amazing considering Hugo's was hosting several large Christmas party groups but never missed a beat with our 2 top. Food was outstanding! I had the special, halibut with jumbo shrimp. Husband had the beef tenderloin, cooked to perfection. The calamari was the only problem because it was so delicious, we couldn't finish our dinners.

Yelp
My family and I love to visit Hugo's for lunch or dinner. They are always super accommodating and all the cocktails are awesome and we love the charcuterie board.

Yelp
Hugo's was a wonderful lunch spot. Located in a small shopping center. It's a bit deceptive you think it's not going to be anything special but you will be pleasantly surprised at the quaint ambiance inside. Wonderful, friendly service and delicious food! I got the bbq chicken salad with huge chunks of chicken and the perfect amount of dressing. The guacamole was fresh and my friend got the fish tacos that she loved!

Older P.

Yelp
Chairs are uncomfortably low for a short person. Had to find a cushion to sit on. Atmosphere is a little sterile. I had a lobster salad at lunch. $30! Greens and additions were very nice and fresh, but just a handful of chopped lobster, for $30. I would expect more lobster for that price. Dressing was tasty but a little too sour, less vinegar or lemon juice, please. My companion had the special, a grilled short rib sandwich. She said the bread was a bit greasy. With 2 glasses of $16 wine. (Why no less expensive offerings, there are plenty of good, less pricy wines out there), my bill came to over $100 with tip...at lunch. I'm getting tired of dinner prices at lunch.

Yelp
We had high hopes for Hugo's based on the reviews, but our experience was really disappointing. We went in to pick up our order and the place was completely empty, which was surprising. We ordered fried pickles, soup, a chicken sandwich, and fish and chips -- and unfortunately everything missed the mark. The fish and chips were especially not good. For almost $200 for lunch, the quality just wasn't there. Really disappointed because we expected much better.

Yelp
Weird confused atmosphere but good makes up for it. Drinks also comes through. Service is fast, knowledgable and great recommendations. Would come here again.

Yelp
Surprisingly, this was the most reasonably priced meal of our Aspen trip, and also one of the most delicious. Pastrami sandwich -the meat did have a fridge smell but it was still very tasty. Fries were crispy and well seasoned. Calamari was flavorful and wish it was a bit cruncher but still tasty. We came here wanting pasta but server said only available during dinner. Meal was roughly ~50$
google avatar

Yelp
We have eaten here at least four times, only once for lunch. Food is delicious! Almost everything tastes fantastic. We went to Hugo's for dinner tonight and we enjoyed everything. The service was great, very attentive but not overwhelming. The place is softly illuminated, which is perfect for us, and also very clean and spacious. Tonight we had the French onion soup, prime rib with veggies and mashed potatoes and for dessert the raspberry chocolate mousse cake. Everything was really well done and delicious!

Yelp
A good place in Glenwood Springs, nice ambience, food, desserts & drinks. They need more vegetation options.
google avatar

Hilary S.

Yelp
Perfectly cooked, had nice and good service, and was very fancy and super clean. Food had a perfect cris cross and ice cream was sorted very well
google avatar

Dan D.

Yelp
My Angus Prime Tenderloin was amazing. My wife said her halibut was great. Our server, Corina, provided superior service. We had a very nice evening...couldn't have gone better!

Irvin H.

Yelp
Ordered a burger with bacon added, asked for it to be cooked medium well. Received my food and when I cut into the burger to halve it, it was medium rare. Picked at my fried while I patiently waited for the server to come around and ask how everything is. Finally got the hostesses attention to confirm how I ask for my burger to be cooked. When it was confirmed I ordered medium well, the hostesses took my plate back to the kitchen. Five minutes later I received the same burger back just on a new bun, seeing there was cheese and a burger sauce in one side, they could only cook one side to bring it to the proper temperature. Which in turn the bottom side of the burger was burnt. I would expect more from a restaurant that's charging $23 for a single patty burger
google avatar

Deborah L.

Yelp
The food was good but the service is trash. They also charge for the bread but don't tell you when they ask if you want bread. A group of ladies across from us found a hair in their food and they tried saying it was the customers hair. Group of 6 ladies but they could only split their check 3 ways so if you plan on coming in a group keep that in mind. Owner was nice the trashy service was the waiters.
google avatar

Kyle O.

Yelp
The food was good, and the ambiance was slow for a Saturday night. The service was prompt and friendly. We didn't have reservations, but this place didn't look like you needed to worry about one after 7 pm. This is off the main downtown Glenwood Springs area, so we assumed it to be a more local spot. My dish was good but ended up swapping the wife for her dish as the sauce on her halibut dish wasn't sitting right on a pregnant stomach. The wine list was reasonable, and they had options for all with a full bar. Wished places like this carried more local (Palisades) wines when they're just down the road. Overall, a good local find.

Yelp
Sat outside on the porch. Lemon blueberry 'pancake' was delightful. Had lemon custard and berries on top. My husband had the pork hash which he loved.

Cu L.

Yelp
Easter Sunday Buffet was very Poor Quality of food. Roast Beef was tough, Chicken was bland and cold. Service was bad and requested drinks were never served. At $30 per person for the Buffet is about 1/3 higher or worse than most other restaurants that have buffets with better Quality. I never will return.

Robbie A.

Yelp
The hype isn't worth the price. Under seasoned food, bland, and lacking flavor. The wine menu is short and leaving something to be desired. Quite disappointing after reading the other reviews.

Stephen H.

Yelp
Good service apart from getting side order wrong, food was well presented but the pork chop had was under cooked and probably the chewiest I've ever had, there we some nicer parts but hard to find. Also not the cheapest place.

Luis H.

Yelp
The food it's pretty good the service it's ok the ambience cozy but the hostess I am to disappointed.

Yelp
Hugo's is an absolute GEM!! We've been to Glenwood Springs so many times and have always stuck to the main strip restaurants (because we just hadn't ever bothered to ventured further out). This time we tried something different and it was the best meal we've ever had in Glenwood Springs!! Not only is the food delicious but the atmosphere is wonderful, they have a dog-friendly patio and the service was incredibly friendly and efficient. Hugo himself came by to say hello to us and our dog. Everything was just wonderful and we very highly recommend it!

Sean H.

Yelp
The exterior is a bit weird, but the interior looked nice. One of our party was NOT comfortable in the chairs. The restaurant was very accommodating to a dietary restriction we had, so that was great. The food, however, was not. Everything at the table was overcooked, including a $40 lobster. They replaced the rubber with another lobster that was just as bad. The medium rare steak was hard medium. The shrimp was rubbery and crunchy - 2 of them weren't fully cleaned and the tails were on but they were served IN pasta. The only thing that wasn't overcooked was the risotto and that was undercooked. It was too much money for moderate food

Yelp
Publicly Shamed....Within 5 minutes of sitting down, the man playing the piano told the entire restaurant how offended he was that our kids were watching their tablets instead of listening to him. Five minutes later he mentioned it again. Then he took a break and gestured towards us as he talked to other guests. We let the waitress know two times how uncomfortable we felt. The manager did not come out. We still paid full price for the meal and tipped, a total of $150. We were very frustrated with the lack of character from the entertainment and the response from management.

Yelp
Food was great! Friendly and helpful staff! Great place to chill with family and friends!

Yelp
Great food! The service is attentive and meticulous. And Kid's Healthy Plate is so thoughtful, my picky eater was very happy.

Yelp
Don't judge a book by its cover. The outside is certainly not a reflection of the inside. We all expected a dive bar (which we also were looking forward to) and instead experienced magic. The food, every detail, was done with care and refinement. The quality of the ingredients was only heightened by the preparation. The executive chef came out to every table to not only help deliver but check in to ensure expectations were exceeded. While it's pricey (what you would expect for fine dining), it was absolutely worth it. The service was beyond wonderful and we experienced so much joy in view, in taste and in memory. Thank you Hugo's! Go! You won't regret it

Michelle B.

Yelp
Won't disappoint! Don't judge this place by the outside! Clearly a real chef works here. The food is delicious and absolutely stunning to look at. I had a salad and calamari and carrot cake for dessert. Food is fresh and dessert scrumptious.

Ann R.

Yelp
Pretty fair food, great service. Wouldn't make a special trip out of town tho. Crew actually started cleaning around us as we were finishing dessert.

Yelp
What a restaurant...Lovely ambience and very delicious food. The wait staff were awesome with their service. Would definitely be back!!

Yelp
My husband and I spent the weekend in Glenwood at the hot springs. All the restaurants within walking distance of the Glenwood Lodge were packed with 2+ hour waits. We ask the don't desk for recommendations for locals and Hugo's was top of mind for them. The food was all so good with little culinary twists but not trying too hard. I love that is Chef owned and operated and all the food we had was delicious. Left full and very happy.

Lisa M.

Yelp
Lovely spot for lunch if you want to avoid the packed crowds in town. Doesn't look like much from the outside but a delightful dog friendly patio, amazing cocktails, delicious calamari and great service.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
5stars! Amazing food! Everything we ordered were fantastic. Beautiful presentation, perfectly prepared and served. Don & Michelle from Woodland Hills, CA

Collington S.

Yelp
Excellent food and personalized service in an intimate setting. This was my second visit in one week
google avatar

Forrest G.

Yelp
What an absolute gem tucked away in this adorable little town! Service couldn't have been better, smiles all around from the patrons. The presentation is the best I've seen (possibly ever, certainly in CO), food was delicious. Caught myself eyeing up the bolognese at the table to my right, I'd say it's my excuse to come back in the very near future!
google avatar

Jacqui E.

Yelp
Mother's Day Magic. My first time at this local eatery and I was wishing I hadn't waited so long. The atmosphere was elegant, bright, and cheery. Perfect for brunch. I had the mouth-watering Belgian pancakes drizzled with lemon sauce and my husband had smoked-salmon eggs benedict. Delicious! The friendly and attentive staff were wonderful, especially, our waiter, Octavio. I'm looking forward to returning for dinner soon.

Chris L.

Yelp
5 stars!!! I'll start this off with saying, I travel for work and go to a lot of nice restaurants all over the country. This is a top 5 dining experience I have every had! from the personalized amazing service from the staff and OWNER, to the amazing drinks and OUTSTANDING main dish, Hugo's is a phenomenal place to eat. Thank you Hugo and Staff. lifelong customer here anytime I pass through.

Cyril G.

Yelp
Stopped in as we are staying in GS for a couple of days. Did not expect much and was not sure about the location. The restaurant is located off Grand Ave., the main road that goes to Snowmass/Aspen. They have plenty of parking and i did not make reservations. They have plenty of seating and a bar. Upon getting there the restaurant was half full. We ordered the calamari and truffle parmesan fries, pasta carbonara, tuscan pasta shrimp and a salad. Everything was very tasty, the calamari cooked perfectly and tender, the truffle was not overpowering the fries. Both pasta dishes were also cooked to perfection! It was amazing after a long day on the road and hiking. The salad was also perfect, with just the right amount of sauce. We ordered the chocolate chip cookie, served in its on skillet, fresh, warm cooked and topped with ice cream. Service was also excellent, and the staff was appreciative of our visit! I will definitely visit again next time i am in town!

Dirk G.

Yelp
I have dined there many times. Best Restaurant in the valley. Everything from the apps to the entries is just brimming with flavor.

T K.

Yelp
We had Sunday brunch at Hugos and the food was outstanding! For starters, the calamari was excellent and everyone in our large party was delighted with their meal. The service was exceptional and we could not have asked for a nicer meal. We will absolutely return.
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
New restaurant in Glenwood Springs with great local reviews on Facebook for good reason. The food was delicious and presented well; service was excellent. I'm looking forward to returning, hopefully for weekend brunch.
google avatar

Dash H.

Yelp
Service was great and the patio was comfortable. Try the French Toast. In fact, try everything! It's all good.

Amy W.

Yelp
Hugo's has amazing food and fabulous service! We will return next time we are in the area for sure.

Dave L.

Yelp
From the moment you walk in your senses are titillated with the smell of fresh food. The ambiance is relaxing and classy, with staff that match from the time they greet you. The menu is expansive without being exhaustive. The drinks and food exceeded expectations and the desserts were fantastic. Highly recommended!

Emily T.

Yelp
What a delightful surprise this restaurant is! It had received great ratings on Yelp, and a few locals highly recommended it. The dining room is lovely, and the service is great. The food...next level! The chicken lollipops and fried pickles were unique and savory. The pickled vegetables on the charcuterie board were clearly homemade. We tried the pork chop and a couple pasta dishes, all of which were delicious. We were stuffed, but Hugo himself insisted we try a couple desserts. They might have been the best part of the meal! I like to eat out to try foods I wouldn't make it home, and Hugo's is definitely serving up something very special. I highly encourage stopping in for dinner, and I've heard their brunch is also exceptional. Give it a try. You will not be disappointed!

Theressa S.

Yelp
Food was outstanding!! Service was great. You wouldn't think it would be this great by the looks of the building outside. Inside was so cozy and the white seats very comfy. I had the scallops and my husband had the braised short ribs. Calamari was very good weird a light batter. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Cameron H.

Yelp
Great experience! My MIL and I sat at the bar after our family had to cancel our reservation of 7 due to golf. Our bartender made us two incredible cocktails, and I had the best Espresso Martini I've ever had. So creamy! We shared the seafood pasta which was also delicious! And we both ordered a side salad-- which was incredibly fresh and the dressing was delightfully tart and summer-y. I will be back very soon for my new favorite local restaurant!

Lisa M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were so impressed! From the moment we walked in, the ambience felt warm and welcoming and staff were super friendly. We decided to order quite a bit and were satisfied and delighted with everything! Literally the best calamari we have ever had. We highly recommend saving room for dessert because you will be missing out if you don't. I do not drink alcohol, and the mocktails were so tasty and complemented the entrees well. Don't miss out on this gem in Glenwood Springs! We live on Sunlight mountain and we will definitely be back!

Kelly L.

Yelp
Went for my daughter's birthday. Great food, great service, and comfortable atmosphere. A gem in Glenwood Springs.
