Following Hurricane Beryl, Houston Restaurants Work to Recoup | Eater Houston
"I noted that Hugo’s, located near other Montrose restaurants, remained dark in the wake of the outage, underscoring widespread disruption to eateries across the area." - Brittany Britto Garley
Houston James Beard Award Winner Hugo Ortega’s Dishes Are Now Available at HEB | Eater Houston
"Operated by James Beard Award–winning chef Hugo Ortega, this restaurant contributed slow-cooked carnitas and tres leches cake to a six-item take-and-bake lineup for a local grocery chain; the selections were chosen to be comforting, easy to reheat at home, and to include vegetarian options that reflect the restaurant's menu. The partnership is part of a broader pivot creating a new revenue stream for restaurateurs facing financial pressure." - Amy McCarthy
Houston Water Main Break Causes Major Headaches For the City’s Restaurants | Eater Houston
"The restaurant's co-owner, Tracy Vaught, said they purchased bottled and jug water, purified ice and canned drinks; are boiling water for kitchen use; have suspended the sale of raw oysters (which require substantial water in preparation); and recalibrated dish machines to use hotter water and increased sanitizing solution. These steps were taken to comply with a city health order that required shutting off tap-water appliances, discarding potentially contaminated ice and beverages, using bottled water for food prep and produce washing, and encouraged disposable plates to reduce dishwashing. While necessary for diner safety, the measures—combined with cancelled reservations and temporary closures—have imposed significant costs from tossed inventory and the need to buy supplies from outside sources." - Amy McCarthy
I was meeting a friend here and it was my first time. The place is so big, you can't tell from the outside. Met my friend sat at the bar. The waitress was nice. The atmosphere was pleasant and nice.

that one star must be from a competitor. I went in and got chicken with rice and beans and it was delicious. the service was fast and great and the employees were very nice. I left them a generous tip. I would say this restaurant is a top 5 in taste in my book. 5/5

It’s a heavy Mexican population filled restaurant. When we entered all the customers were literally staring at us. It was awkward. One customer pushed our chairs. No response from the staff. Never recommend anyone non Mexican here. First time experiencing it from Mexican restaurant.

Food was great, atmosphere was nice and at decent price . Unfortunately the waitress didn't speak a bit of English and we had to order by pointing at the menu. Still worth going to

The waitress was very rude!!!! And the staff was so unfriendly...we had some drinks there and when it was time to pay all we did was a few questions and the waitress got mad to a point that she was cursing at us for no reason...she even called us names ...is it wrong to double check your bill?... I mean it was something like this .... and that's why I wanted to make sure ....

Yelp
I have yet to eat in. We order through GH. Sometimes ordering/delivery is slow, but worth the wait. Food is stellar. You can whoever works in the kitchen loves their job and knows what they are doing!
