"Hui Lau Shan is readying to open its first San Diego store on Convoy Street. The chain was founded over 60 years ago in Hong Kong as a Chinese tea shop but transitioned into a dessert cafe in the 90s and now has hundreds of franchises worldwide. Hui Lau Shan is best known for its large selection of refreshing mango-based desserts, ranging from chilled bowls of fresh mango with pomelo and sago pearls or chewy tapioca balls and mango ice cream to mango pudding, mango mochi, and crepes folded around fresh mango and whipped cream. The menu also features a variety of drinks, including fresh fruit slushies swirled with cream and topped with cheese foam, and other treats like black glutinous rice with durian and black sesame porridge." - Candice Woo

This store specializes in mango desserts definitely a must-visit for mango lovers! I tried the new Mango Tiramisu on the menu and really enjoyed it. Also gave the mango and coconut juice a try—it was just okay. The place can get pretty crowded, and it’s a bit tough to find a spot to sit. Parking was also a challenge it took me almost 20 minutes to find a spot. Still, a great place if you’re craving some unique mango treats!

Google
This store specializes in mango desserts, and since I love mangoes, I had always wanted to try them. I ordered the Mango Chewy Ball, Mango Pancake, and Yogurt Mango. The Mango Chewy Ball was delicious, with mango slush, mango chunks, mochi, and coconut mango ice cream. I highly recommend it, as it’s something you’ll want to eat again. If you’re sharing with someone, I suggest getting the large size. The Mango Pancake is more like a crepe rather than an actual pancake. The Yogurt Mango drink was refreshing, not too sweet, and very tasty. The store is clean, and weekdays are not crowded, so I recommend going on a weekday. On weekends, parking can be difficult.

I first discovered Hui Lau Shan in Houston and instantly fell in love, so when I found out there's one in Dallas, you know I had to check it out! We got there early—one of the first customers of the day—which turned out to be a smart move. The servers were friendly and quick with our order. And let me just say: if you're a mango lover, this is your paradise. From mango drinks to desserts, they’ve got it all. The shop has a few tables if you want to dine in, but it looks like a lot of people opt for takeout too. One cool thing that sets this place apart? Their containers and utensils! Everything is neatly wrapped in paper—spoons, straws, the works. It’s the little details like that that make it feel extra clean and thoughtful. Budget around $10 per person, which is pretty fair for a sweet treat this good. Just a heads-up: it’s located in a busy shopping center. Early birds will have no problem finding parking, but come lunch or dinner time? Good luck. Between overly confident young drivers and a few reckless ones, the parking lot becomes its own kind of adventure. Overall, Hui Lau Shan is a fruity, mango-filled gem—worth the visit and the parking lot chaos!

Google
One the best asian dessert place out there. I'm glad they opened one near 99 ranch area. I recommend their mango coconut sago or jelly and their ice cream dessert are good too! It is always crowded at night if you want a sweet treat! Wan is Awesome!

Google
The mango coconut aloe jelly drink was a hit, but the coconut jelly could’ve been better. It didn’t taste as fresh as I’d hoped, and the coconut flavor was a bit too sour.

Google
This place has no service, as you have to order from the counter, and the ambiance is not great. The chairs and tables are shaky and could use some maintenance. However, the desserts were great. I especially liked their coconut and black rice desserts. Come during their happy hour to enjoy 50% off a second dessert.

Google
I’m so glad they opened a location in Dallas! It’s a cute spot with a great variety of drinks and mango desserts. My favorite is the fresh watermelon drink with coconut juice, pomelo, and mango with sago—super refreshing! They’ve also added more seating since they first opened, and the service is pretty solid. Definitely recommend for anyone who loves mango!

Google
Exceptional dessert here with varieties of options you can choose from . I’m not a big dessert person but this place got me wanting more and more . Staffs are amazing and pretty relaxing place to sit and enjoy the delicious desserts. The durian and mango tasted so good .

Yelp
Go to dessert spot and love that it's close by! It is in a busy plaza so parking tends to be like finding gold, esp during weekends. Our go to orders are A7 and C8.

Mary V.

Yelp
This is such a cute shop with fantastic Asian desserts. Their durian pancakes are a great way to introduce someone to the magic without being overwhelming. I personally love D4 - The Mango with Coconut and Sago. The little sago pearls are so satisfying and the drink itself so refreshing. Just watch on because weekends are insanely busy. I'd order ahead and go to the left counter if you don't want to wait forever.

Roan A.

Yelp
The cashier was kind, listens well, and was accommodating. Some of the food was new but good new. This place has Traditional Taiwanese dessert. Love the E8 purple sweet potato osmanthus rice mochi. We got it warm but you could also get it cold. The texture is pudding like and similar to the sticky goodness of mochi (which it also has). It had a pleasant surprise of some sweet red bean and tapioca pearls the further down you scoop. The mango here is fresh and really refreshing/good. The popular one is A4 mango chewy ball. Love this cold dish :) it's still has the delectable soupy texture with a cute scoop of icy mango ice cream. Love this place :)

Olivia E.

Yelp
Still my favorite after dinner treat. I come here a lot since they've opened up a location in the area. Always good and fresh. Even the durian filled pancake thing is good and I dislike durian. Service is ok. If you order the egg waffle expect to wait 10-15 min. That's my only complaint but definitely worth the try to come here. I recommend it to all my friends and family

Marcus R.

Yelp
Perfect spot for mango lovers! Went with the mango romance so I could try a few different things and loved every bite. Staff is super friendly and there's plenty of dining area inside this store. Can't wait to come back!

Nicole R.

Yelp
Great dessert place! I recommend the pomelo & mango with sago. Can't go wrong with any of the mango products. It was a bit loud when we went but the service was very quick. We went after lunch on a Sunday.

Zhesi C.

Yelp
My second time here. It is on Sunday afternoon, the store is just so busy. I just still cannot believe that there is a Cantonese dessert shop in Dallas. It is full of mango, coconut and pomelo, my favorite for summers, so much childhood memories. If you had been to HK, you know it is very authentic dessert. My mom loves their black sesame porridge, smooth and medium sweet, not powdery stuff from supermarket. The decor looks really modern and the service is fast with so many customers. Highly recommended. Ambience: 10/10 Food:10/10 Price: 10/10 Service: 10/10

Abbie C.

Yelp
Average service and drink. Clean aesthetics in the store. Probably tastes better when mango is in season mildly sweet, more tart.

Trinh H.

Yelp
Okay - I swear that I didn't like mango desserts but this place made me do a whole 180! The mangoes are such a delight and perfectly sweet. The desserts here are super unique and sooo pretty. Pricing wise, is a little bit on the upper end but definitely worth a try for something unique and new. The establishment can definitely have better seating as there is so little for how extremely popular the place is, you're better off getting your snack and eating it in the car. The place itself is well decorated and super cute. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the ordering process is easy as they have menus accessible everywhere!

John C.

Yelp
Saw a lot of posts about this new dessert spot and finally got to try it. It was a decent spot; the storefront was clean and welcoming, with plenty of seating for a post meal snack. The portion size was decent so we ordered a few bowls to share. The black sesame porridge had a right flavor, but the consistency felt too watery. The taro sago chewy ball came with a lot of ingredients, but could use a little more sauce? It tasted bland towards the end. The mango chewy ball was definitely the best, which made sense for that's what they're known for. The ice cream on top was super good and the mango was sweet and refreshing. Definitely a spot for mango lover!

Henal M.

Yelp
What a cool place - truly a mango lovers paradise (and yes they have some stuff without mangoes too!). The vibe of this place is good for a date, grabbing a treat to run errands, or making a family outing out of it. We ordered two desserts and it was BEYOND. My fav part was that they were not too sweet and did not leave me feeling ick after eating them. I will def be going back to try more!

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
I love Hui Lau Shan so much, I'm soo happy they opened one in Dallas! I've been a huge fan ever since I first tried it years ago in California. My favorite is the D3 Mango Pomelo sago!! The pomelo pieces are tart and add some texture to the mango sago. There are also mango pieces inside and coconut milk. I always inhale this drink so quickly when I order it. It's a bit on the heavier side as mango sago usually is, it's kind of like a smoothie! I also love the Purple Sweet Potato Osmanthus Rice Mochi so much, it's so delectable and even has pieces of purple rice in it. It tastes kind of like a taro dessert and I love getting it hot. It's hard to describe how good it is, but highly recommend trying it if you love mochi and sweet potato. The service is quick for the amount of customers bc it's always soo busy. I wish they had more tables inside though because it's hard to get seating during busy hours. But I'll definitely be back!

Alicia F.

Yelp
Mango. Mango.Mango That's my jam and this place delivered, from my mango boba to mango pudding. This store is giving DELICIOUS. Cute little shop that has more than items and I look forward to going back to explore more.

Khiem H.

Yelp
I dropped by to try Hong Kong desert. The food was ok nothing to write home about. The cashier was nice and the place was cleans. I'd comeback to try other stuff next time I'm in town.

Deja V.

Yelp

Yelp
Everything mango! This is my new favorite dessert spot! From drinks to cakes, ice cream, jelly, and mango dessert bowls, you can't go wrong trying an assortment of menu items here. I love the mango slush bowl, adding rice balls, jelly, and sago. It's pretty busy but the line goes quick and it doesn't take too long to get your order. Grab a seat and hang out with friends & family before a meal, after a meal, or even AS a meal

Cedrick T.

Yelp
Great Place for MANGO LUVASSSS 4/5 Food/Drinks Swirl was my personal favorite 4/5 Interior, lots of seating, design matches the mango vibe~~~ 5/5 Service, a dessert place so it came out fast! YUH

Cat N.

Yelp
I'm so grateful there's a location in Dallas! I grabbed durian crepe, pomelo mango sago but didn't taste any pomelo. Also got the sweet potato sago with mochi balls. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the durian crepes omg I can eat two sets of those. It had whipped crème inside and durian meat inside the crepe. Will order more next time!

Jessica D.

Yelp
If you love mango, you will definitely love this place. Their mango sago drinks are so good. I usually get the mango coconut one for my kids and the one with pomelo for myself. They're very similar, just the pomelo one has pomelo bits and a small scoop of ice cream. The mango mochi is a must try but be warned, it's very addictive. Every time I've been here, the customer service has been top notch. The guy at the front is so nice and cheerful. Compared to the Austin location, this location isn't packed and the service is super quick.

Jennie L.

Yelp
I can always make room for dessert! Since it's mango everything we had to try 2 things. First was the mango mochi and I gotta admit it's better than I expected. The mango jelly bowl was also a refreshing delight. What I appreciated was how both desserts really cater to the Asian tastebuds. The mochi and the jelly weren't terribly to sweet but still had lots of flavors and fun textures.

Yelp
I've already been to hui lau shan about twice already but my dad wanted to take my mom to try it out. This mango dessert shop is from Hong Kong and they have been expanding all over Texas lately this year. When we arrived, there was already a long line to order with every table inside already occupied. However, the line moved by fast and the people at the tables eat quickly. They have a display of some of their most popular items so you have an idea of what they look like. They also have several menus that you can take to look at while you're in line. I recommend this because some of the colors on the TV menus make it hard to see some of the items. I tried the mango pomelo sago and the mango chewy ball. Both were really delicious and refreshing. The mangoes were ripe and chewy. The mango pomelo sago also has some coconut in it. I'm personally not a big fan of pomelo because it can be a bit bitter, but I like the sago. The chewy balls were good texture but kind of lacked taste. There's a slush of mango at the bottom of the cup as well. Overall it's a very enjoyable desert, try their mango mochi too if you get the chance.

Michelle C.

Yelp
D4 Mango & Coconut With Sago: The taste and texture is what you expect when you look at it. It was acceptable, nothing too crazy. D6 Aloe & Aloe Jelly In Watermelon Juice: It was the best thing we got out of the three items that we ordered from there. It's super light and refreshing and the best thing about it is that it's not too sweet! Durian Pancake: I love durian, but this was respectfully, mid. I wouldn't get it again due to the pricing of $8 not matching up to par with the quality expected. I totally understand the pricing of everything. It is more on the expensive side, but you're also paying for the quality. You can tell the ingredients they used were fresh and natural.

Yu Qi W.

Yelp
I'm so glad they opened a location in Dallas! It's a cute spot with a great variety of drinks and mango desserts. My favorite is the fresh watermelon drink with coconut juice, pomelo, and mango with sago--super refreshing! They've also added more seating since they first opened, and the service is pretty solid. Definitely recommend for anyone who loves mango!

Yelp
Finally able to try HLS after a few weeks! They have been super busy since their opening and we finally got a chance to try some of their menu. They offer a variety of desserts including chewy balls, fruit drinks, mochi, ice cream and pancakes! Majority of the flavors include mango but there is also coconut, watermelon and durian for those who are brave enough to try! Restaurant is a good size with a handful of tables but they are very busy currently, so expect a wait when you come during peak hours. Mango Romance - 7/10. A bit small but good to try different items. The chewy dessert and coconut noodles were the best. Watermelon and Coconut Juice - 6/10. Not bad, but would probably not get this again. It needs boba or jellies Mango coconut sago - 8/10

Allie Y.

Yelp
Hui Lau Shan is a mango specialized dessert place. originating from Hong Kong. They use combinations of fresh mangoes, mango ice cream, glutinous starch (chewy ball, black sticky rice, sago, red bean), coconut milk to make their desserts. Their most popular dessert, the Mango Chewy Ball, is my favorite with perfectly ripe mangoes paired with chewy glutinous rice balls, refreshing mango ice cream, mango puree, and mango pudding hiding at the bottom! A1 version is big enough to be shared between two people, and A4 is a personal size. I have tried their mango & coconut w Sago drink as well and it was refreshingly light and packed with chunks of fresh mango and sago, providing a perfect balance of sweet and tart. Not overly sweet too which is the case for most Asian desserts. The addition of coconut milk makes for a perfect blend of all the flavors together. They also offer non mango desserts such as egg waffles, green tea jelly, durian pancake, etc, which I haven't tried. Although they just opened and the line can be long, the service is actually prompt and friendly especially for a new business. There are very limited seatings inside so you may have to order togo. If you're in the mood for a refreshing, light and delicious dessert experience that showcases the best of what mango has to offer, Hui Lau Shan is the place to be. You can always find something you like from their extensive menu. I was sad that Mango Mango closed down in Carrollton, but am so happy to see a better version of mango dessert specialty place pop up!

Cynthia C.

Yelp
Newly opened, this place is very well known in Hong Kong. Since it's new, there was a ton of people there. The line moved relatively quickly and didn't have to wait too long for our to go order to be ready. The shop is really cute, cheery, and definitely screams "we do all things mango here". We got the mango coconut sago drink (delicious, creamy, and not too sweet with fresh mango all blended up in there and no artificial flavors or syrups), the passion fruit mango icey (also a ton of pureed mango in there and deliciously refreshing), and the mango pancake (light, airy, full of whipped cream that tasted fresh and not overly sugary, and a delicious almost braised textured mango on the bottom. Wrapped in a thin crepe). Everything tasted really good. I did also order a mango pudding but I didn't get to try it because the lid wasn't very tight on the container and it ended up opening and spilling all over the take out bag. The pudding did seem a lot more watery than a traditional pudding though. Will come back again!

Susan N.

Yelp
So excited to have this chain open up in DFW finally! There was a decent line, but the crowd moved quickly so we were able to grab a table for 6 by the time we placed an order. Their menu is pretty large for a dessert shop so we ended up getting 6 different things to try. Some of the bowls can be served hot or cold. We got the purple sweet potato rice mochi, durian pancakes, black sesame porridge, durian black glutinous rice, and obviously some mango items: mango chew + mango coconut noodle. The mango desserts were the star of the show. So refreshing, sweet and delicious! Their durian desserts were also very good. Would definitely go back and order more different mango items to try next time!

Yelp
The people that work there are just fantastic humans all around. I had the best time. I went in alone during their busiest time and my friends stayed in the car. The employees handled the biggest rush of people I've ever seen with such grace & big smiles! After a while, my friends regretted their decision and decided to go in close to closing. The people working there were so kind and helpful even though we walked in later. The food had a wide variety for all food sensitivities & it's not too sweet. The area was so clean despite how busy they were. I'm really impressed and they are my fav place to have dessert now. This was on February 23rd everyone working that closing shift was just awesome!

Caroline Z.

Yelp
Okay I've been here too many times in both cali and now dallas, and I'm obsessed with everything. But this post is really dedicated to these fish balls. Like it's so random for a mango dessert place to sell savory fish balls, but holy crap they are delicious do not miss out on them!!!

Jasmine T.

Yelp
Centered in Dallas' little Asian town; it's so convenient to grab dinner near by and to stop by right after! We had their mango pomelo sago with chewy balls, egg waffle, and mango pudding. The chewy balls and mango pomelo sago was my absolute favorite; and the egg waffle came out so hot and crispy yet soft in the middle. Our order came out pretty quickly and can't wait to come back to try other desserts.

Jacqueline L.

Yelp
This place is always super crowded whenever we go, but they always have seats available after we order. My husband and I love their mango chewy ball bowl. Their mango is always super fresh and the chewy balls are cooked to perfection. They're seriously addicting. Even whenever it's super crowded, it doesn't really take that long to get our order. I definitely recommend checking this out if you love mango desserts.

Megan W.

Yelp
I love all the mango desserts here! The fruit and flavors are always so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the drinks. I usually get the one pictured or the mango + coconut drink.

Janel L.

Yelp
Food is basically the same as the one in Hong Kong. It's way way way better than mango mango that use to be in the same area. Service is great the employees here are super nice. It's simply decorated, clean and tighty. Only complain is sometimes their music is loud so definitely order take away if you could. They have very limited space.

Grace I.

Yelp
i am such a mango sl*t, so i KNEW i had to come try. the fruit is super ripe and well balanced together in the desserts! it wasn't TOO sweet/sugary, and i loved that a lot about their menu. the service was fast and easy, you just go and order at the window, and wait for your dessert to come out. the space is clean, bright, and minimal. wish there could have been more seating options, but overall, really cute!

Phuong Dung N.

Yelp
Great place for dessert! If you like mango you must visit this place. Service was quick and friendly. We like it so much that we went back for 3 times over a few days. My fav was the Mango w coconut juice and aloe vera jelly. Very refeshing and not too sweet!

Ashley D.

Yelp
Highly recommend the mango mochi and mango coconut sago drink. It is on the pricier side but you can a definitely taste the fresh mango used in their products. Though it is pricey, me and my friends love it here. It does get really loud and busy over the weekend, but that is expected. Definitely recommend this place, especially if you love mango like I do.

Larry L.

Yelp
For the Hong Kong mango lovers. Best during summer heat It was a treat. Not sure affordable for daily consumption.

Ele A.

Yelp
Drove by this place and looked up what it was. After some shopping, we decided to stop by and try some of the warm desserts. The staff member was really friendly and our order was ready quickly. I got a taro dessert and it had large chunks of taro which was really good. Place could use a little cleaning but it looked like there was only one person working so it's understandable that sometimes it might not be the cleanest if she is solo working the register, making the snacks, and cleaning up. Would definitely try again next time we're in TX.

Jill M.

Yelp
Wow! I love this place. Clean ambiance, fast and friendly service despite being busy, and well, the desserts are exceptional! We ordered: Mango pudding, Coconut mango smoothie, Jumbo mango pudding chewy balls and Mango mochi. All were super fresh. The mangoes were ripe and well balanced with just enough sugar!

Meeh T.

Yelp
Nothing much to say other than expensive tasteless drink. Really over hyped. Tried this place somewhere near Dallas and my drink was all liquid when it was suppose to be a slushy. They were really busy, so it seemed like they just didn't care about the quality they were putting out. I gave it another shot in Houston, but nope tasted just as bland. It was nice and slushy though but still bland

T L.

Yelp
Good stuff but way too expensive for the portion you get. It's a shallow bowl for the Mango Delightful Trio that costs almost $8. Barely enough for 1 person really. Meet Fresh portion sizes are much better.

Michaela M.

Yelp
Went to the soft opening to this new mango dessert shop!!! I got the mango pomelo sago drink which was a 10/10! It was so creamy and fresh! I also got the durian pancake. It taste like a crepe cake and was also creamy. If you like durian you will like it! Can't wait to come back and try more stuff out!! This place for people who love mangos

Cindy N.

Yelp
This is my favorite dessert shop of all time! I was obsessed with it in Houston and was ecstatic to see it opening in Carrollton. My FAVORITE thing to get is the C8 Coconut jelly with mango. It's so creamy, not too sweet and the mango is the perfect ripeness every time. The coconut flavor isn't as strong. The drink, D4, with the sago is so good, too. It's more prominent in the coconut flavor. It's still creamy and the perfect amount of sweetness. I tried their mango and durian pancake, as well as their mango coconut noodle dessert (big enough to share). It was just OK so I would opt out of those desserts. I'll always be back!!!

Hyun P.

Yelp
I would probably go here every 2 weeks if it were closer. I hope they open a location in Arlington/Grand Prairie area. Refreshing deserts that's not too sweet. Good size cup that can be reuse for other things

Kayla P.

Yelp
It was a long wait, but it was worth it! Very refreshing and delicious! I love that they use fresh mangos!

Jerty L.

Yelp
Just a personal comment. Mangos taste sour, and the background music was too loud, for me it's a bit annoying. Maybe the owner wants to serve more customers because loud music makes people vacate restaurant sooner!

Nancy V.

Yelp
Amazing desserts! Perfect flavors, great presentation, and excellent service! The staff is so nice.

Victoria N.

Yelp
Definitely worth the hype. The employees are very sweet. Those poor employees on the weekend when it gets packed! Make sure to tip them well. Everything is so fresh and perfect level of sweetness. Very busy on the weekends. Recommend going on the weekdays. Casual vibe.

Lilian N.

Yelp
Cute little shop! When you walk in, there is a display of the items, which is extremely helpful. We ordered the mango coconut noodle (10/10 if you love both mango and coconut), pomelo with mango and sago (I liked but I personally am not a big fan of pomelo), and the mango crisps (similar to cheesecake bites with mangos). Everything was so refreshing and not to sweet! Also, they offer a discount (I think it's 10%?) if you bring in your receipt from Too Thai which is right across the street.
