"Hong Kong’s famous dessert shop Hui Lau Shan opened its first California outpost in Irvine on August 25. The popular mango-centric dessert chain, which has more than 300 locations around the world, brings its signature fresh fruit desserts to Orange County, with plans to eventually expand into the greater Los Angeles area and San Diego. Hui Lau Shan has come a long way from its roots as a traditional herbal tea shop in the early 1960s, where it sold herbal teas, herbal jellies, and other nutritional supplements. At the time, there was high demand for Hui Lau Shan’s tortoise jelly, or guilinggao, and bird’s nest, as they were said to have numerous beauty and health benefits. It wasn’t until 1992 when the establishment added fresh mango sago (a kind of starch extracted from palm stems) desserts to their menu that it became an international sensation. In Hong Kong, there is a branch of Hui Lau Shan virtually everywhere you turn. The bright, eye-catching yellow and red signs are more popular than Starbucks or McDonalds. Hui Lau Shan is popular for being a casual, affordable, and take-out friendly dessert shop. Each store is so busy in Hong Kong that it’s nearly impossible to secure a seat inside, with many people having to share tables with strangers if they choose to dine in. Hui Lau Shan’s signature mango dessert, the Mango Chewy Ball, is the most popular dish despite the large menu of savory and fruit-filled desserts like a bright green durian pancake, as well as taro and coconut-based snacks. The Mango Chewy Ball starts with pureed mango, which then gets topped with a scoop of mango ice cream made fresh every morning morning on the premises. The kitchen then finishes the dish with the namesake chewy tapioca balls. The three-layered mango and coconut juice with aloe jelly seems tailored to post onto Instagram, but the drink also allows diners to taste three distinct flavors in one sip. Hui Lau Shan also serves seasonal items like the current Red Dragonfruit (also known as pitaya) Fruit Icy, which uses fresh pureed dragonfruit placed on top of aloe jelly that surrounds a piece of honeydew. Fresh chopped kiwi tops the treat. The Mango Crisp, a sort of mango ice cream sandwich, fuses layers of fresh mango with cookie powder and cream. “Mangoes known to be rich in antioxidants and high in vitamin C. They are also known to boost the immune system as well,” says store manager Tobby Liu. Liu sent the staff here to train in Hong Kong while Hui Lau Shan dessert chef Billy Ho arrived in Irvine to help with the opening. The staff comes in four hours before opening each day to prepare the fruits and make fresh aloe, coconut jelly, and tapioca balls from scratch. “The biggest difference I would say is that the mangoes we use in our Hong Kong and Asia stores are from the Philippines. For our U.S. stores, logistically speaking, we get our mangoes from North and South America,” says Billy Ho. The popular Philippine variety used in Hong Kong and Asia is the known as the carabao mango, which is juicy, soft, and very sweet when ripe. The variety that the U.S. stores use is derived from the same strain. “The mangoes taste basically the same as the Carabao variety because they are from the same strain. They are still very sweet,” Ho adds. Hui Lau Shan has been concentrating on its US expansion. The first permanent U.S. location was in New York City earlier in the year followed by a location in Redmond, Seattle about two months ago. “The menus might slightly differ due to weather differences. For example, NYC’s menu may have a few more hot menu items than Southern California’s. However, we will be adding more seasonal and new items as we go forth. The core menu items are the same as those in Hong Kong. There are all made from the same recipes,” said Liu. Hui Lau Shan currently has locations in Australia, Canada, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Macau, Taiwan, Paris, Vietnam, Philippines, and counting." - Kristie Hang

Had to also come to my favorite mango dessert chain for some desserts after a meal. It’s apparent to me that asian guy workers are either stressed out or not really satisfied working in the greater Los Angeles because they clearly don’t liked being ask any questions wth is going on lol. Again, the asian girl workers are very nice.

I recently visited Hui Lau Shan on Alton Parkway, and it was a fantastic experience that left me wanting more. From the moment I stepped inside, the friendly and welcoming staff made me feel right at home. They were quick to greet me, answer any questions, and provide recommendations with a smile, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Their menu is impressive, offering a wide variety of dessert options, but the real standout is their signature mango treats. The fresh mango flavors in each dish were perfectly balanced — sweet but not overwhelming, with just the right touch of tanginess. I tried a few different items, and each one was beautifully presented, showing the care and attention they put into their creations. The ambiance was cozy, with a clean and well-maintained interior, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy your dessert, whether you’re catching up with friends or taking a break by yourself. Despite being fairly busy, the service was prompt, and I appreciated how quickly everything was prepared without feeling rushed. For anyone who loves mango or Hong Kong-style desserts, this place is a must-visit. They offer the option to customize some desserts, adding a personal touch to the experience. The prices are also very reasonable considering the high quality of the treats. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, Hui Lau Shan delivers a consistently enjoyable experience that I highly recommend! ✅ Friendly and welcoming staff ✅ Wide variety of dessert options ✅ Signature mango treats are fresh, sweet, and perfectly balanced ✅Beautiful presentation of each dish ✅ Fast and efficient service, even during busy times ✅Authentic Hong Kong-style desserts ✅Customization options available for some desserts

Google
Friend took us here few days ago. My son and I love mango so we were all in for it. I ordered the Mango & Coconut drink while he ordered the Mango Chewy Ball. We both loved what we got. It was so good that I finished it in no time. Will be back!

This place has super good mango desserts. I got the jumbo mango chewy ball last time and it’s so cute and delicious!

Google
If you LOVE mangoes, then this is your paradise. The mangoes here taste absolutely fresh and are so delicious on a hot summer day (too bad it was kinda windy when we came). Place also seems super popular, with a line coming up right to the door. The service was good, but our desserts took a while to come out, though that's expected since they're super busy. The decor is really nice, modern and urban and also really clean. However, the place is small which means lack of space to sit inside. However, there's loads of tables and chairs right outside, so there isn't much of an issue there. As for price, fairly decent pricing for what you get, but we also got the Jumbo Mango Sago which is good to share if you don't eat much. I'd definitely come again if it's hot out.

Google
If you like mango desserts then give this place a try. We went there after dinner and enjoyed everything. The server was very friendly and helpful. The place is comfortable and clean. And there’s a good selection of desserts. I had the Pomelo and Mango with Sago. My wife had the Mango Chewy Ball. And my daughter had the Mango Sago.

Google
I'm obsessed with mangos, so I always try to go to a Hui Lau Shan when I'm near one. I love everything on the menu, and I don't think you can go wrong with any pick. This time I got the chewy balls, coconut pudding, and pancakes. I wish the mango pancakes were bigger. They're probably my favorite item. Also plenty of seats inside and outside.

Anthony Q.

Yelp
Quality dessert at a great price in this economy Its feels fresh and consistent what they can put out. Ordering was very quick and the store is very neat

Jenny C.

Yelp
Calling all the mango lovers to the best spot for fresh, delicious mango treats! Their pomelo with mango sago is one of my staples since it adds the right amount of sweetness from the scoop of ice cream and has chunks of citrusy pomelo to balance everything out. They have seating inside with adequate tables outside so it's the perfect spot to hang with friends. The service is also friendly and efficient as we got our drinks really fast. I highly recommend this place and I can't wait to try their other items!

Elizabeth X.

Yelp
==FOOD== I got the Durian Black Glutinous Rice. It was pretty good 8/10. Durian seemed to be lacking but I know durian is expensive to get, so I'm still giving it 5 stars. My friends got the Mango and Pomelo Sago with Mochi Balls. ==SERVICE== Cashier was super nice but he said he didn't like durian :( All the workers got the drinks and desserts out very quickly. Some of the tables were kinda sticky, but that's easily remedied by wiping it down. I know the workers are busy making the drinks. ==AMBIANCE== This place in Irvine can probably seat around 15 people? There's lots of seating outside, but at 8pm on a Saturday night, it's pretty chilly outside. I did not want to be sitting outside in the cold and eating a chilled dessert.

Kirsten S.

Yelp
Chewy mango ball and waffle. 10/10. Went to the Rowland Heights location. Would definitely come back!

Rick S.

Yelp
Their mango-based desserts were delicious and tasted as great as they looked. The staff were friendly and worked quickly to move the long line. Ambiance is comfortable and cozy. It was packed when we're there in Thursday evening so come early. Highly recommended!

Jaline C.

Yelp
I've only been here once while on vacation but this place is wonderful!! It's such a lovely treat and it's not horrible for your health as well!

Joy Y.

Yelp
I was visiting in the area and my friend recommended I try this desert spot and I am obsessed! I love everything Mango and this place definitely hit the spot! Every item was delicious and just the amount of sweetness I love! I love the different portion sizes available as well can easily share or enjoy our own. We had great service and it's a perfect spot to come enjoy a sweet treat! Definitely a must try if you haven't already!

Fiona L.

Yelp
Both my fiance and I love this place and came back so many times when we were in OC. The mangoes are so fresh, flavorful perfectly ripe - the mango quality is just so much better than other mango dessert places I've been to. Our favorite mango desserts are the mango yogurt, mango romance, and mango mochis. Also loved the black sesame porridge which was perfectly thick and not too sweet - reminiscent of the ones in Hong Kong. There's tables outside with umbrellas which is a nice environment to eat in.

Hannah H.

Yelp
Hui Lau Shan is one of my favorite dessert spots in Irvine. I love how efficient and easy the grab and go service is here. They also have indoor seating if you wanted to dine there. I always get the A4 mango chewy ball. The chewy balls are my favorite part of the dessert because it pairs so well with the mango ice cream. Any time of the year, the mango tastes ripe and they always give a good amount of it. This sweet treat is such a delicious pick me up! Parking: Parking available in the plaza.

Ying S.

Yelp
Delicious dessert friendly service ‍ clean environment reasonable and affordable price

Ava C.

Yelp
This place always hits. Mango chewy ball 10/10! mango is always soft and sweet. Ice cream is wonderful albeit a bit sweet. chewy rice balls r nice n taut and a little weak on the flavor profile but its ok. Coconut jelly with mango 10/10. I could eat dis shi for the rest of my life. Melomelo is quaking in their boots. finally service was great. those two lil boys holding down the fort all my themselves were spectacular. applause!

Anna L.

Yelp
Someone pinch me because I'm in mango heaven!! Quick service and casual ambiance great for family and friends to enjoy a nice cold dish. Pros: Great options for all kind of mango delicacies Mangoes. Must I say more? Cons: A little pricier than I would have wanted for the portion

Steph G.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place ever since it opened, but I'm in this area only unlimited occasions. Finally visited on a Saturday evening. Was able to walk right in and place our order. We got a mango coconut sago. I think that's what it's called. It was made fresh and tasted super delicious. We took a seat in the little area, but then we wanted another drink so we ordered a passionfruit green tea. I believe iced. Very helpful staff. Clean. Plenty of parking out front. Definitely wanna come back and try some of the bowls and sweet treats.

Grace S.

Yelp
My family and I came here for dessert after dinner and it was refreshing and delicious! The toppings mix well with the fresh blended mango. The blended mango part is made with fresh mangos, and you can definitely taste that the quality of the mangos is top tier. The mango chewy ball did take a but of time to come out, but the wait was not too long. There are plenty of seats both inside and outside so it was perfect for my family of five to hang out!

Elaine O.

Yelp
We've been to this location twice and once in Bellevue, WA. Even though it's a chain, there's not many Hong Kong style desserts in California. I like the durian sago and mango coconut desserts. I like it hot when it's winter time though the durian sago in a coconut was warm.

Kelvin V.

Yelp
Hui Lau Shan has overtaken Boba, Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt or any other sweet treats as my new favorite dessert spot. Hui Lau Shan offer a unique Hong Kong Style mango dessert. There is a wide variety that includes different jelly's, chewy mochi like balls, and fresh cold dessert that is light, refreshing yet packed with delicious mango or other flavors that they offer! Every time I go I get something new and I am always satisfied. The service is quick and standard, just like what you would expect from boba shop or cafe. So while it's nothing special it gets the job done and done well. There's a wide open space with decent seating. So it's a great place to sit down with friends and spend time together. Although sometimes It can get crowded since lots of people have the same idea so keep that in mind. Overall 6/5 for me

Vi H.

Yelp
The mango here is so fresh and delicious! I'm a big fan of their desserts and mango sago but a must for me is their mochi!

Richard W.

Yelp
I like how they display fake mango dishes to show you what you'll be ordering. It's popular here, but crowded, loud and somewhat disorganized, in fact, a long delay due to a clearly confused staff scratching their heads from one order to the next prompted me to write this review during the 15-20 min wait. Super annoying to get skipped over and order forgotten. HANDMADE FRUIT Pomelo and Mango with Sago (small tapioca balls) Light and refreshing. The pomelo adds an interesting angle but it works. Super good. HANDMADE DRINKS Mango and coconut juice with aloe jelly all layered beautifully into the cup. It's a colorful display and a solid drink with multiple flavors and textures. Aside from the operational deficiencies, I would come back to sample their other items. That's all...

Joanne W.

Yelp
HLS is very nostalgic for me. Growing up in Hong Kong, this is a staple dessert or snack shop after school. However, this place is permanently closed in Hong Kong and I'm glad that I can find the same taste in the US. I usually do to go, but they do have a nice environment to sit inside and outside. I don't think they can host large parties but is good space for 2 to 4 people. I really enjoy the mango dessert. I think it taste natural and not artificial, and the sweetness of the fruit is perfect. I'll definitely come back for a memory and for the taste.

Steve H.

Yelp
Group of 4 friends decides to hang out and have nice desserts after pickleball games. We ordered 2 boxes of mango mochi(6 per box), mochi is very yummy - real mango jam and perfect mochi that is just soft and kind of melts when you take a bite. 1 Durian black glutinous rice hot dessert as I didn't have lunch. Durian it self is fresh and the conbination of ingredients makes it taste sweet, and yet not as strong of taste on Durian. And last we ordered mango sago, basically it is mango ice cream with other notable ingredients like sago. Service is friendly and the dessert shop does have good combo vibe of welcoming HK style and yet touch of modern accent. Good for hangout and if you like mango desserts!

Lucy K.

Yelp
10/10 experience in the small space of irvine its so hard to find good drinks and dessert along with good customer service this spot had all 10's a worker named Brad took time to help me pick what drink i would like along with a bowl told me what toppings where good 10 out of 10 customer service had the best drink and bowl ive ever had in my 27 years of living in irvine thank you Brad and thank you kind soul who made my drink and bowl :)

Laura J.

Yelp
Got the F3 Pomelo Sago. Overall really liked the dessert, my favorite parts were the sago, coconut milk, and the mango ice cream. These three ingredients tasted the best in my opinion and tasted great in any combo with regards to one another. The mango and the pomelo were not as good, but this good be because it was not the season for these two fruits. The mangos were a little sour and the pomelo was sour and bitter. The sourness did not mix well with the sweetness of the other ingredients.

Katie S.

Yelp
Best mango smoothies. My favorite is the one with Aloe and Crystal jellies. The coconut one with Crystal jellies is also good.

Crystal L.

Yelp
A comfort dessert spot for me in Irvine. I love mangos and this place has the best fresh and sweet mangos incorporated into an iced dessert with the BEST chewy and sweet mochi balls. Seriously got to get the mochi balls from here. The ice cream was a bit icy, do wish it was more creamy mango ice cream sorbet. The cups are also cute and service was great. They gave us extra bowls as needed. They were busy and it's hard to get a seat inside. There are tables outside but it is cold! They gave us one of our orders as cold when it was suppose to be hot, but had no problem exchanging it for us.

Kelly T.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place as I do love mangoes and have seen tons of promos about it. The store was nice and clean, on display were sets of mango mochi and mango pancakes for takeout. The workers helped us out and got our order out pretty quick. I got the mango mochi, mango and coconut sago, and the mango pancakes. Mango Mochi (3.5/5), nothing particularly crazy or something I would get again. The coconut shavings were good but the mango inside was pretty sour. Tastes like what you expect mochi to taste like, but it was super soft which I liked! Mango and Coconut Sago (4/5), this drink tasted pretty fresh! It was a blend of a mango slush with coconut cream and sago at the bottom. The sago was cooked well but it could have been a bit more flavorful-- the sago did get a bit overbearing at times and a bit tiring to chew. I still enjoyed it though. Mango Pancake (4.5/5), so delicious! The wrapping tastes similar to a crepe cake. It was filled with sweet whipped cream and also fresh mango. I would definitely get this again. I was a huge fan of the texture, if you like layered crepe cakes you'll like this!

Emily E.

Yelp
This location is definitely one of the better ones I've been to. I ordered the D3 -- mango and pomelo with sago. It has a balanced amount of sweetness. Service was quick however the prices are a little steep in my personal opinion. It's probably because they use fresh mangoes, however it's definitely a once in a while treat for me. Ambiance is casual and can get moderately loud for a weekend night out. There is patio seating outside and a wide selection to choose from!

Harry P.

Yelp
Come here if you like mangos! Pretty fun place with a lot of coconut mango related drinks and dessert items. I really like mango coconut drinks with sago and they have it but the slushy coldest tends to freeze the sago and making it frozen instead of soft. The service staff is very friendly and will make special accommodations if asked. I hope this place stays open for a long time.

Kelly N.

Yelp
My first and favorite pomelo mango sago drink (I think D3). I crave this sometimes and definitely prefer this location over the Westminster location (flavor and ambience are better). I take people here just to try this drink. Pricey over $8 last I went over a year ago, but super fresh fruit, multiple textures, and most boba drinks are getting up there anyway. Service is standard. They make your order fresh. Try it: you won't regret it.

Kiyo M.

Yelp
I always have hard a time remembering the name of this place!! It should have a side name called Mango Paradise or something easier for Americans to remember. But anyways, I love this place! This is a well known chain in Hong Kong founded since 1960! If they lasted this long, you know they're doing something right. Quality fresh! It's fresh mango, so your health won't regret it either. I'm always disappointed often with most boba places with just watered down fake powder sugar/only a few sips; just ending up full of regret. But this place, I'm so satisfied. I mostly get their D5 "Mango & Coconut Juice with Aloe Jelly" $6 or their A1 "Jumbo Mango Chewy Ball" $12.50. I love the combination variety of chewy balls, mango ice cream, pudding, and fresh mango. So good!! I tried their limited flavor D2 "Red Dragon Fruit Icy" $8.50, but I was disappointed with that one, as it honestly didn't taste any different from the mango drink. It's so satisfying on a hot day. I crave coming here all the time. They do not take cash. Good place to take a date to. Easily one of my favorite places. I would drink here all the time if I was rich.

Shaye W.

Yelp
Hui Lau Shan is a great place for a dessert that isn't too sweet. Mango Romance (4/5): a small trio sampler of their top sellers. The mango slushy and mango crystal jelly were our favorites out of the 3. It was very flavorful and unique. I would recommend this if it's your first time here! Coconut Jelly with Black Glutinous Rice (4.5/5): the portion is big, especially compared to other coconut jelly places like Melo Melo. The glutinous rice added a nice texture and sweetness to the coconut jelly.

Sheila T.

Yelp
Everything in the menu is great. From the coco jelly with mango to all the drinks with watermelon, sago, aloe vera etc Service is ok. Parking is huge. Ambiance is ok. There are very limited number of seats and the dining tables are always full.

Juan U.

Yelp
Killed my mango craving. The fruit was ripe and sweat, the coconut noodles were delightful and the mango ice cream was creamy. The sorbet was a little watery but with the combination of everything else it was still Mango enough. Added mochi balls on the side but was surprise they were warm and not cool like everything no else. The cashier was nice and helpful, described the items in detail and made great suggestions. The place was small and was playing interesting music, not sure if it was welcoming enough for me to sit and enjoy my dessert there but will def come back again for another mango treat.

Ricky Y.

Yelp
If you love Mango, this is the place to go. I absolutely love this their Mango Romance which is like a sampler of three little dishes. The mochi balls are absolutely phenomenal, like actually please try them out. Passion Fruit and Mango go together, and when they appear in the same drink, it is perfect. I highly recommend their Passion Fruit Icy Drink. Overall ambiance of the place is fine but it does get loud due to its popularity. Service depends on its workers, I have had visits when service was great and others when it was mediocre. As a final note, because this place depends on their mango, if they do not have high quality mango in stock at the time, it kind of ruins most of their menu.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Delicious! My daughter and I are big tropical fruit fans so this was a no brainer. Anyone who loves real tropical fruit needs to try this. We got D7 drinks, mango pancakes and A2. Will be coming back to try their other items

Jessica N.

Yelp
One of my favorite sweet treats, ever!! My favorite order is always D3 which is the Mango Sago with pomelo. The mango is so smooth and sweet and pairs really nicely with the pomelo and the sago. I have also tried their mango pudding which is really good. Service is pretty quick even though it can get crowded at times. There are several tables inside for sitting and chit chatting with friends which makes it a perfect stop after dinner. All in all, it's a great spot to stop by for a drink or a mango dessert as the mango quality is TOP NOTCH. Definitely on my top list of favorite desserts/drink spots here in Orange County.

Rachelle F.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! I love mangos and the fact that I know I can get mango desserts here all the time, and it's still not too sweet is the best. I've tried several things from the menu so far. My favorite have been the Mango Chewy Ball, and mango crisp for desserts, but if I wanted a drink or something easier for to go, Mango & Coconut with Sago. The bubble waffle here is good too, but I come here for the mango lol I will say that the food is better when mango is in season, which makes sense obv. But I've never had a bad time here. Inside dining can get crowded in the evening because it's so close to UCI, but it's easy to take your food out and eat outside if you need to.

Diane C.

Yelp
Enjoyed the mango mochi was super super fresh and chewy! It had real mango at the center which made it even better. Ordered chewy ball, enjoyed the base but not the balls. The chewy balls texture was like stale boba. But my friend enjoyed it?

Esther J.

Yelp
First time and last time. It was clean airy a little compacted. The drink was umm, well I didn't like the jello part of it. To me it ruined the watermelon. The service mediocre and the cashier/order takers wasn't inviting both male and female were bland and dry. My suggestion is, I'm guessing the point of the store is the Mango. Try it for yourself. I pass on it.

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place. Very refreshing. Really enjoyed my mango romance. Hubby got the mango sago.

Marzi M.

Yelp
Really liked this place. Our friends introduced this place to us for the first time last night and loved the concept. The dessert was very good and will definitely come back and try the other items on their menu.

Alice S.

Yelp
I ordered D5 drink the mango with coconut juice and aloe jelly, it tasted nice and fresh and refreshing. I definitely want to try some of the other mango desserts next time!

Sarah Y.

Yelp
I love mango and their mango pancakes is my absolute fave! One of my colleagues pre ordered me their mango pancakes for my birthday and they had them ready for pickup before the store even opened. Thank you to the owner for being so considerate!

Jake T.

Yelp
Calling all mango fanatics! Hui Lau Shan specializes in all things mango, and let me tell you, they do it right. The mangoes are the real stars here. They're incredibly fresh, sweet, and bursting with flavor. Don't miss their signature dishes! The chewy mango balls with sago and mochi are a textural and flavor adventure you won't forget. The service is very nice and they always are attentive to your needs. Regarding the price, be prepared to spend a bit more for your mango fix. The portions can be on the smaller side for the price. If you do not like mangos beware. While they have a few options for non-mango lovers, the menu is heavily focused on mango dishes. The ambiance of the store is nice. It is clean and well-kept. Overall, Hui Lau Shan is a must-visit for mango enthusiasts and anyone seeking a light and refreshing dessert. The unique offerings and explosion of mango flavors are totally worth it.

Serene A.

Yelp
First time I've ever heard of this chain, I was looking up desserts in the area when I was visiting my friend and this came up and looked so yummy and fresh and I've had mango and sago desserts elsewhere, the mango was sweet and soft on both desserts we got. I loved the mango mochi. It was a cute place with the cute mango characters all over and there is seating inside and outside. The guy taking our order was very helpful and he was making all things to order.

Jonna G.

Yelp
A must get especially during this summer heatwave! It was my first time here and my friend and I debated between omomo and this place. So glad we got this instead. I got the Pomelo and Mango Sago drink. It had the right amount of sweetness and I loved the bits of pomelo it had. The mango pancake was very light and airy. My friend ordered the jumbo mango chewy ball. I got to try it and the chewy ball reminded me of kochi but more dense. Keep in mind, this place can get very busy but they move quickly.

Jamie A.

Yelp
Hui Lau Shan is one of those warm weather staples for me. Actually... come to think of it, hot or cold I'm always craving it. This location in particular was near my old apartment so it was just a short drive away which meant I was there almost every week for my mango fix. The classics are undeniably delicious - mango mochi, mango pancake... incredible. But I also love trying the other mango dessert variations on offer - the coconut jelly with black glutinous rice and the coconut jelly with mango are two favorites of mine as well as the mango yogurt icy and mango coconut sago. Insanely refreshing and while the prices have gotten a bit steep in recent years (thank you post pandemic world..) the quality remains superb. I'll always choose Hui Lau Shan over anything else when it comes to a sweet treat or post dinner dessert. Service is very quick (sometimes so quick that I never get to finish signing my name on the tablet before they slide my order over to me). There's a modest amount of seating indoors but there's also plenty of those comfy and quintessentially Irvine Company orange umbrellas and patio chairs (you know the ones..) to enjoy lounging on outside. No notes, highly recommend!

Brandon B.

Yelp
Our favorite dessert spot in OC. If you love mangos then this is definitely a must try!

Yelp
I grew up in Hong Kong with Hui Lau Shan mango desserts being a huge part of my childhood so having this option in between home and work is great, even though the prices (aka value) prevent me from frequenting this place. I always love the mango with pomelo and sago, and the mango or durian crepe are quite favored by our household. Maybe because of the high prices(?) it almost never had lines whenever I drove by, so it was easy to opt for this (as opposed to, say, Omomo in the same plaza) when I'm strapped for time. But drinks seem pricier than other drink places around even though it's difficult to compare apples to oranges (or mangoes...), so we almost always get the desserts instead. Hopefully they'll be able to stay in business without raising the prices too much!

Yelp
What a great vibe. The food was delicious and the ambiance was nice. Friendly staff and variety of choices. Love that they have a Durian pancake?! Will be back.
