Second time visiting this place, first time for lunch. Dishes are spectacular, Taiwanese dishes newly innovated but inspired by a lot of local ingredients. Everything was fresh and cooked well. Portions are good and filling. Enjoyed every dish both times. Quite a young chef, talented and dedicated, can feel he is quite passionate in his cooking. Small but lovely place, not many seats so reservations a must.

Wine Tasting with Thirsty Scholar at Huist Restaurant. Together with Professional sommelier Tony and with a Michelin Young Chef Award winner 陳莛諭 (Chen Ting Yu) both created a wonderful dinner pairing last night. HUIST 卉寓 (West District) is a low-key small restaurant in the alley near Shen Ji New Village. It is a restaurant that combines Taiwanese cuisine with a unique French style. Every dish was exquisite and delicious. The service was also very good, definitely a highly recommended place to go!

Amazing little restaurant in Taichung, churning out elegant, finessed plates full of Taiwanese authentic flavours. Particularly enjoyed the fried deboned chicken wing stuffed with bamboo shoot and mushroom, the inventive eel and Napa cabbage dish and the perfectly cooked duck. The proprietor graciously fit us in last minute due to some confusion over the booking. Service was warm, informative and efficient. I’m sure a Michelin star is not far away.

The food is very tasty and elegant. Highly recommended for those who are looking for a quiet place for dating/ anniversary/ family gatherings. The only pity part is that the food didn’t filled up my tummy 🤣🤣🤣 Oh and one more thing is that they’ve got very nice dessert, the Dacquoise！ The sweetness is adequate👍 The service is very nice, the server explained carefully on every dishes, and also all the background information about the ingredients.

Excellent dining experience. Food, service, atmosphere all perfect. Great to have such a quality restaurant so close to our home here in Taichung. Will definitely be back regularly. Thanks much.

Menu is simple, but food quality is superb with a good mix of flavours. Value for money.
