The 18 Best Restaurants in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico | Eater

"Huitzil, located inside the El Recinto boutique hotel, fits the bill for an intimate yet casual dinner — the experience is approachable and the food filling. The restaurant uses local ingredients and blends international and Mexican flavors in dishes like crispy chicken with peanut sauce and roasted carrots or crab cakes with creamy garlic sauce, watercress, and Parmesan cheese. Cocktail-wise, opt for a local riff like the Mexican mule or the flavored mezcalitas." - Natalia de la Rosa

The food is delicious, the presentation is good and the portions are of a really good size. The prices are just a bit high, but given the place you are, the taste, and the size of the portion, it is completely justified. The staff is kind and the service was relatively fast (they prepare everything at the moment, so it is fresh), but the wait is worth it. The menu includes mushroom soups, pastas, burgers and some side dishes (french fries, chicken tenders, etc), but you won't find traditional Mexican food here!

Huitzil offers a more upscale environment set in the forest, and seems to be inspired by Oaxacan/local mountain forest ingredients. In terms of celiac/gluten free… items are not labeled as gluten free but after speaking with staff (in Spanish) we identified some good dishes such as a mushroom soup and steak with potatoes which were both delicious!

The best dinner we had in Mexico so far! The mushroom soup was so tasty and so were the coconut shrimp, served with a delicious dipping sauce. The place, run by a young couple, is hidden in the trees and the ambience is just magical. Good job guys!

Hidden Eden. If I hadn’t stayed in the cabaña next door, I would’ve never found this lovely little spot. Even just for a cup of coffee, it’s absolutely worth coming here to enjoy a peaceful moment.

This was my Favorite restaurant of San José del Pacifico The presentation of the plate, when you receive it, you think its the best.. thats when you realise youre wrong and the taste of it is 10x better 🤩 (I only have two picture, well damn me cause i should have taken every meal i ate tho it was sooo good its gonna stay in my mind forever👑) P.s i hate shroom, and there i loved itttt 🍄👌 it the rainy season oufff delicious cant be more fresh Also, When you arrive at the place you feel like you enter in a Magical forest where there is a columpio of multicolors stairs that you must do Was about to forget mentionning 😮 Best place to do Temazcal with Gollo ! Its not like some other place where you feel its too hot cause you put your own water plants on the rocks so you can go with you vibe of intensity

Celebrated my birthday yesterday at Huitzil with my wife, and everything was fantastic! My wife started with the mushroom and cheese soup, which was really tasty. She had the fried shrimp which were golden, crunchy, and came with a delicious dipping sauce. I had the arrachera with grilled shrimp. The arrachera was cooked to perfection and was very flavorful and tender. It was accompanied by chimichurri sauce, french fries, and salad. The fríes were good.....the sauce and salad excellent. The grilled shrimp were a little bland, but greatly improved with a little of my wife's dipping sauce. I had a mojito, which was very nice. We finished our wonderful meal by splitting a strawberry cheesecake, which was great!
