The Best Phoenix Restaurants That Are Great for Big Groups | Eater Phoenix

"A 21st-century spin on the tiki bars and restaurants of the 1950s and 1960s, Hula’s dispenses tiki cocktails and Island-inspired dishes, as well as American fare with a tropical twist. The menu offers something for everybody: classic Hawaiian dishes such as Loco Loco as well as luau pork sliders, spicy Thai fish cakes, poke, and Island flavor-inflected burgers. These are great places to informally pull a few tables together, but for a private party, consider reserving the dimly lit and wonderfully atmospheric Tiki Room, which takes parties of 12 to 40 people." - Nikki Buchanan

This place is honestly such a hidden gem and really underrated! I had one of the best meals I’ve ever had in Phoenix here. The Hawaiian jerk chicken was bursting with flavor and tasted like absolute heaven, while the fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned just right. The atmosphere was another highlight—it felt cozy, pretty, and calming, which made the whole dining experience even better. The staff were also friendly and welcoming, which added to the good vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back soon and recommending it to my friends.

Give this place a shot! The vibes are cool and the food was so good. We got tuna and white fish tacos with the potstickers. Everyone’s food around us looked so good too. It was packed with happy fun customers. People working at the bar too which is cool.

The Hawaiian-inspired food and drinks were delicious and well worth trying. The staff especially the bartender was super friendly. I’d definitely come back again.

If you're near the Phoenix airport and craving bold island flavors with a modern twist, Hula’s Modern Tiki is a must-visit. Tucked away just minutes from the terminal, this vibrant, tiki-inspired spot offers an unexpected escape with tropical vibes, exceptional food, and one of the best happy hours around. We stopped in recently and were seated and served incredibly fast a huge plus when you’re on a schedule or just looking to unwind quickly after a flight. The atmosphere is fun and inviting, with modern tiki decor that hits the perfect balance between playful and polished. Whether you're sitting at the bar or in a cozy booth, the place immediately feels like a getaway. The happy hour here is nothing short of fantastic. From the moment we sat down, the energy was upbeat, the service was on point, and our bartender was absolutely incredible. Personable, knowledgeable, and quick on the pour, they made the experience even better with excellent drink suggestions and spot-on execution. The cocktail menu is filled with tropical classics and creative twists, and each drink we tried was perfectly balanced strong enough to feel it, but smooth and flavorful. Now onto the food and wow. We started with the ceviche, which was light, bright, and absolutely bursting with citrus. It had just the right amount of heat, and the fish was fresh, tender, and perfectly marinated. It’s easily some of the best ceviche we’ve had in Phoenix. Next up were the fish cakes, which were nothing short of phenomenal. Crispy on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside, they were perfectly seasoned and served with a zesty aioli that brought everything together. The texture was spot on not too dense, not too soft and every bite was packed with island-inspired flavor. The menu has a lot of tempting options, but these two appetizers alone would be reason enough to come back. Combined with the attentive service and upbeat atmosphere, Hula’s makes you feel like you’re on a mini vacation without ever leaving the city. Whether you're a local looking for a great happy hour or a traveler passing through Phoenix, Hula’s Modern Tiki delivers a memorable dining experience. It's fast, flavorful, and full of good vibes a rare find so close to the airport. Final Verdict: A tropical oasis in the desert don’t miss the ceviche, fish cakes, or happy hour cocktails. Cheers to great food and even better service!

The fish bites appetizers were tasty but I wasn't a fan of the edamame. For dinner, the BBQ ribs with mango bbq was tasty, but unfortunately it was too grisly for me. The cocktails were delicious!

Ordered 2 drinks both were pineapple n orange based little on sweeter side but at the bottom felt good during happy hour, in food ordered sweet potato fries with dips which was yummy and main course went with jerk chicken which so so yum

Just flew into town and it was a nice first stop. It was sunny and clean. The waiters were attentive and the food came quickly. Cute patio, assuming it's used more for fall or winter. Lol. Unique Tiki drinks. Drink menu has a ton of options.

We recently returned from a vacation in Hawaii, where much of the food fell short of our expectations. So, we were pleasantly surprised to discover a Pacific-themed restaurant in the desert that not only exceeded our expectations but also far outshone the offerings at many touristy spots in Maui. The highlight for me was the beef skewers, which were perfectly cooked—not chewy at all and almost melting in your mouth. They came with a dipping sauce that complemented them beautifully. The dishes overall were packed with flavor, and the service was exceptional—our bartender was particularly attentive while waiting for our table and made sure we were well taken care of. This is definitely a place we’ll be returning to!

Yelp
Made a reservation for our friends birthday dinner, & we had such a nice time! We were in a secluded room which was nice, one other reservation in there with us but was not at all crowded or loud. Our server (whose name I've forgotten, she has dark hair & we were here in a Sunday night at 6!) was prompt & truly so nice and patient with us as we took quite some time to order & kept those drinks flowing! The food was obviously delish, no questions there. Overall a very great and calm night to celebrate our bestie, we look forward to coming back very soon!!! Drink rec: lilakoi marg & captains colada (NA) Food: chicken wings were FIRE

Yelp
Love the fish tacos, fish bites, white fish ceviche, spicy edamame and lettuce wraps for the table and me - what are the rest of you eating? Best happy hour deals in town. Fun tiki drinks with all the rums! Nice ambiance, patio is nice when the weather permits.... And great service! A favorite over the years!

Yelp
Stopped in here for lunch on a weekday and it was a nice quick-ish lunch. It's bright, clean and airy when you walk in and we were greeted and sat quickly. There is a good selection of items and I ordered a few appetizers for the table and we got the coconut shrimp rolls, sweet potato fries, crispy fish bites and a key lime pie for dessert. The coconut shrimp rolls were filled with mini shrimp and were good. The sweet potato fries tasted like any other spot, personally I would've liked a bit more crisp to them. The fish bites were really good and the key lime pie was too! Nothing stood out as the best thing I ever ate but I left fill which was the point. Overall, food was good and prices were fair, service was quick and friendly. I would stop in again!

Yelp
A cute small independent restaurant I found via a Yelp search. I really liked the mod 60's meets Hawaiian interior design. Nice big long windows for great natural sunlight, open bar in the center of the space, cool curved booths scattered, and two glass garage doors that open to their nicely spaced outdoor patio. Great house music playing. Service was good, no complaints; polite staff, checked in on us, no rushing. Nice menu, not too crammed, several things that sound delish, pokè bowls, fish tacos, Hawaiian themed burgers, etc. I was craving poke, so we shared the Island Style Poke: also happened to read the description for their Crispy Coconut Shrimp Rolls, so we tried those too. The food was excellent, seriously! The Coconut Shrimp Rolls were divine! The wrapping used was phyllo dough thin and did not detract from the guts of the rolls. The rolls were filled tight and all components melded wonderfully! Even the dipping sauce, which I was expecting to be spicy hot, was just sweet and complimentary; really, though, I didn't use the dip much since the rolls were bursting with flavor solo! The salmon poké was also seriously delicious! I really enjoyed the very lite "sauces used as they didn't retract from the subtle salmon and chunky avocado; perfect undertones. I can wait for my next trip to AZ. I dare hesitate to say a meal here might just have to become a regular tradition when visiting Phoenix!

Yelp
We came at a good time. When we walked in we were greeted and told to grab a seat anywhere. They were still serving brunch, but, thankfully, they were serving at their regular menu as well. This place isn't a tiki bar like you'd see in Palm Springs. Rather, it's more truly-, inspired--except the cool tiki room of to the side. There are some fun pictures on the wall. Make sure you look at underneath the bar on the far end--there are lots of little treasures to see! There is a patio with seating for those cooler days (at least cooler than today!!). We ordered: *Pink Bikini Martini *Moco Loco *Jawaiian Jerk Chicken Plate The jerk chicken, which is shredded, came with two pieces of johnny cake, fried plantains, and rice topped with mango salsa. My jerk chicken was good, but I wished I had ordered the Moco Loco. The Moco Loco was the best! The gravy was delish! The martini was not my cup of tea, but it was my son's cup of tea, so he finished it for me. This is a good choice, and it would be great to have a party in the tiki room.

Yelp
I love the location! They were so kind and prompt to move us to a booth after our request so we could sit next to each other. Lighting and vibe inside is nice. The Hawaiian ceviche was so fresh and tasty. Our burgers were good too. The drinks were tasty and had cool glasses. I would definitely come here again.

Yelp
A pretty decent spot that doesn't stand out but is not bad. I tried the Cajun burger, bbq ribs, and the crispy fish bites as an appetizer. The service was pretty great. Quick with friendly demeanor, really all I could ask for. The fish bites was good. Good crisp, lacking a little bit of flavor. The sauce makes up for it but I'd have liked a little more seasoning. 4/5 The bbq ribs were very tender, good flavor, a bit too sweet for my liking. The sweet potato fries were pretty average, a little too soggy and now tender enough. The slaw I thought was also just ok. I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor. 3/5 overall. The Cajun burger was also just alright. The patty lacked a little bit of the crisp that I like on it usually. The Cajun seasoning I found to be strange on the burger. 3/5 as well Overall definitely would not say it's bad but not a recommendation from me either.

Yelp
We celebrated a birthday here and we loved it! I got the crispy fish bites, spicy Thai fish cakes, Jawaiian jerk mahi, and the captain's colanda. -CRISPY FISH BITES - white fish, panko and togarashi encrusted, with an island remoulade for dipping. -SPICY THAI FISH CAKES - white fish, cilantro, chili, red onion, ginger, aioli -JAWAIIAN JERK MAHI - jerk sauce, rice, fried sweet plantains, jamaican johnny cakes, mango salsa -CAPTAIN'S COLADA - coconut cream, allspice falernum syrup, pineapple juice
google avatar

Josephine T.

Yelp
This place was the perfect spot for my birthday! They had great mocktails, which as a recovering alcoholic, I really appreciated. The food was excellent and our server was very friendly. Definitely worth a stop!
google avatar

Jeannie N.

Yelp
Solid spot for Hawaiian foods in a tiki bar setting. I would guess that the food is not perfectly authentic to Hawaii local foods but it seems to be a modernized take on local dishes. My friend and I enjoyed locomocos, spring rolls, and mocktails. Would come again for casual hangouts!
google avatar

Athena B.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with my sister. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. As a vegetarian, I never eat Hawaiian food, but the options were plentiful for me! I got the Vegan Jungle Tofu and I really enjoyed it. The curry sauce on top made it even better. The ambiance in here also looked very cute and like a good date spot. While our waiter did take a bit before coming over to take our order, I still had a very pleasant experience and would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
Hula's is a favorite already, but I'm here to write about Tyler, our bartender tonight. Amazing service, so kind and helpful!!!!
google avatar

Caitlyn A.

Yelp
Great spot! Got the martini - first one was perfect, second one was a bit tart - and a margarita. For food we shared the wings, beef sticks, burger sliders, and fries. Everything was tasty. The only thing that was just okay was the sliders, I wouldn't order them again. The wings, beef sticks, and fries were incredible though! Loved their hula sauce. Highly recommend and would go again.
google avatar

Molly P.

Yelp
Sweet potato fries were flavorful and yummy, but veryyyy soggy! Which is cool if ur into that kinda thing. I wanted extra crispy and forgot to ask. I loooove the crispy coconut shrimp rolls, but am pissed they took it off the happy hour menu, now it's $11 instead of $8. My friend got the pork taco from the happy hour menu and said it was really good. Decently quiet atmosphere, soft background music. Nice chill casual place for a date or to come with family or friends

Yelp
Went to Hula's Modern Tiki for a friend's birthday. We made a reservation, but it wasn't too packed when we got there. They seated us in this cool semi-private room, which was perfect for our group. I ordered the Hula's pan-fried Mahi for my main--it was good, but the sauce was a little too salty for me. For appetizers, we got the crispy fish bites (so good and crunchy), spicy Thai fish cakes (nice and spicy), and the Hawaiian ceviche (super fresh and tangy). I also tried the Castaway Cooler mocktail, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste. My friends loved the Captain's Colada though. Our server was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely return to explore more dishes from their menu.

Yelp
Kyle gets 10 stars out of 5. Best service we have had in so long. We were the annoying couple playing cards at the table and he was super chill yet somehow perfectly attentive. Give this man a raise. Give this man a hug. Give this man whatever his heart desires. Kyle - we will come back to Hula's just because of you! Thanks big dog

David Y.

Yelp
Food was great. Kyle was excellent. Stopped by 3 times in a week during our trip. Definitely will be back next time in town.

Yelp
Hula's was way cooler than I expected. Both the food & the drinks were excellent. Definitely swing by if you want some island love.

Yelp
FANTASTIC!!! I have nothing but incredible things to say about of experience at this Hula's location! My team celebrated the holidays at this location and we had incredible, attentive and fast service. The atmosphere was fun - everyone was friendly! The food was delicious! We split several appetizers - my favorite was the spicy seaweed salad and the crispy shrimp rolls. I will crave the crunchy spicy chicken tacos until I can have them next! Our drinks were perfect, beautiful and balanced! We ordered one of each of the desserts and while I thought the brownie would be my favorite - I will dream about the coconut cream pie (no photos because we devoured it in two seconds!!). Seriously, run to this location and celebrate eating here!
google avatar

Sandi K.

Yelp
We have enjoyed Hula's on past trips to the Phoenix area and this continues to be a favorite! Loved the poke appetizer and the macadamia nut encrusted mahi! The key lime pie is amazing! I had a lilikoi margarita which was so good! My husband a mai tai and zombie. Can't wait to visit again! Service was great.

Yelp
This is my second time going to this place, This time we went for a birthday party for my aunt and what an amazing time. Food was delicious. Service was amazing. I appreciate it and I look forward to visiting again soon

Yelp
I'd only been once, about 3 years ago, and remembered having good food and a great time. I was meeting 2 friends and we were looking for somewhere "in the middle" for all of us. I suggested we go here. Our reserver was Jerry, I believe that was his name, and he was outstanding. I ordered the fish bites. Although it's an appetizer, it's what I had last time and they're awesome and enough as a meal. I also ordered the mac and cheese. It was yummy. My friends teetered back and forth, and he was super patient. After we ordered, we flagged him down to hold our order because a fourth friend was coming to meet us. Again pure patience, he was great as she couldn't decide what to eat. Two of our group ordered the fish tacos. I can't remember what are fourth friend ordered. I believe it was a sandwich of some kind but I can't swear to that. She did also order the mac and cheese after seeing mine. Whatever she ordered, she had fries with it, and she said, those were really good. The bottom line, our server was attentive. The food was really good. We even had leftovers and the prices are super reasonable. We met at lunch. None of us drink any cocktails, but I can say the last time I was there, I went for a happy hour and that was really good as well. All of my friends commented on what a cute place it is. It's very comfortable airy, it's an open environment, very inviting. All in all great atmosphere and great food, we were all happy.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
I went here for a work lunch and I will say the outside seating is nice. I do feel like it's pretty pricey for what you get. The food looked beautiful which was promising, but lacked in flavor. Everyone at my table ended up adding salt and pepper to our dishes. That just doesn't seem right as that's basic seasoning. I think in concept it's great, but in execution it just didn't live up.
google avatar

Jenni W.

Yelp
Great tasting food. Was a little crowded for a Wednesday night. Parking was full even in overflow, had to park across the street, which was fine.
google avatar

Trinity C.

Yelp
This is a good spot to get together with friends to watch a game. Very fun, sports bar-like environment. The service was just ok. Our waitress was not very friendly and it kind of set the vibe off. However, our food did come out very quickly. I ordered the pork tacos. They were plated beautifully and were a great value for the price of $15! However, they were very sweet. Almost to the point where I couldn't eat more than one taco because of how sweet the sauce was. My food also was cold. Other than that though, the meat was cooked perfectly, the salsa was delicious, and the rice/beans were incredible. I think we just came on an off night, as my friends said normally the service is more friendly and the food is delicious. I will most likely be back to try more of their extensive menu as their food is well priced and decent for sports bar food!

Yelp
I was so excited to finally try this place. It has been on my list for a while. I have tried the slider next door at the bar and they were really good. So I was hopeful the rest of the food was but I was wrong. The food: we ordered the wings and the Baja fish tacos and a side of fried plantains The wings I ordered extra crispy they did deliver on that. But the wings were soooo salty and very spicy. I was thinking it was going to be a sweet and spicy type combo from the description. It was not sweet at all just very salty and very spicy. 0/10 for me and my gf agreed. The Baja fish tacos were flavorless. The tortilla was so thin and was not heated up, so it fell apart right away. The cabbage that they put inside was definitely from a bag, and it was so so dry the. Fish itself was only a small portion inside it was fried OK but there was zero flavor. There was a sauce top but also had zero flavor. It came with rice and beans and the beans saved the rice. The sauce it came with for the tacos on the side was like a salsa but it didn't taste good. A pineapple salsa would have been way better than whatever that was. I guess I should have stuck to the sliders but I wanted to try something different. The plantains were good. It was the small baby bananas . It was good nothing special. My gf got a mai tai and she said it was ok not overly sweet. I won't be back. If you go don't order what we did. Try the sliders.

Yelp
Here from MD and my cousin brought me to this location for happy hour. It was fairly empty when we arrived so we grabbed seats at the bar immediately. I ordered: Pink bikini (2x) - 10/10 delicious, just the right amount of sweetness without turning your stomach Slider trio - fish cake was spicier and thinner than I expected, lamb was delicious, the burger I couldn't eat. The onions had a very weird taste to them so I couldn't get it down. My cousin had a beer and fish bites. The bites were amazing, they had great texture and were served with what I believe was a lemon aioli. It was the perfect pairing. I'm into tequila so my cousin asked the bartender to try something new and we took shots of the fortaleza repasado which were really good, along with another that I wish I could remember. I didn't enjoy it as much but it was still decent tequila. If I find myself visiting again I'd def come back here for sure. They have a great happy hour menu and enough variety to try a bit of everything. The environment was both adult and family friendly, the bartenders were great and the patrons were as well.

Yelp
Seasonal drink menu and good food. Super yummy! I love their salads and bowls. The heat is coming, support local businesses.
google avatar

Heidi A.

Yelp
Great ambiance. I love the dark, moody, yet Hawaiian vibes all the way. I loved my virgin piña colada and the coconut shrimp rolls. They were top notch! I just couldn't quite love the loco moco. Maybe I didn't like the rice, maybe I didn't quite like the consistency of the patty. I'm not sure... the service was great though!

Yelp
Tried out Hulas for an early Friday night dinner (4:45 pm) and was shocked at how busy the restaurant was! The restaurant has great happy hour specials and it's clear Hulas has a lot of loyal customers. Beware- the parking is a disaster! Don't make the mistake of entering from the wrong point as the whole front lot is one-way and more than a few cars mixed this up. Hulas' patio is a very fun vibe and really elevated the dining experience. We tried out the pork potstickers as an appetizer and then experimented with a Modern Tiki Fish Sandwich and the Hunkin Samoa Burger. The appetizer was solid with two nice pairings in the sauces. However, my dining companion and I were disappointed at how the burger and sandwich construction quickly crumbled. The content tasted great, but the delivery made it challenging to eat. Overall, we would totally go back but plan to avoid anything with bread. The brunch menu looks fantastic and I cannot recommend the happy hour specials enough. We also had attentive and speedy service.

Yelp
This is the OG Hulas in the Phoenix area + is by far the best. This is the only place outside of Hawaii that I'll get a Mai tai because they actually make them properly here. FULL of rum :) 2 of them + you probably are not driving, just as a heads up. Their white fish ceviche is one of my favorite items in the menu + is gluten free with tortilla chips. When I was on prep they use to bake the chips for me areas of frying them - which was much appreciated! They used to have a gluten free calamari, but unfortunately it's no longer on the menu. Hoping they bring it back!! Their gluten free menu options are quite extensive. I'll also do the vegan jungle tofu bowl + sub the tofu for blackened chicken. Service here is always good, have never had a bad experience. Most of their staff has been there for a while + they are ON IT during happy hour. Their happy hour is all night on Wednesdays as well! When it's nice out in AZ we definitely sit outside on their patio, which is dog friendly. The entire restaurant is just a vibe + it's one of my favorite restaurants in AZ!!
google avatar

Sophia M.

Yelp
So many delicious options as a vegetarian. Always amazing food and good happy hours deals, especially Wednesday nights. Drinks are strong and tasty. I love this place!
google avatar

Caroline P.

Yelp
Delicious food and awesome service. My friends and I went and had lunch and it was amazing. I got the Vegan Jungle Tofu. It was the bomb. So satisfying and filling and delicious.
google avatar

Aaron W.

Yelp
Another great time with friends at Hulas. Tried something new and the ceviche was delicious, I highly recommend it. Little spice was perfect to not overwhelm the fresh fish and it was a nice healthy portion even from the happy hour menu. Great service and always good vibes with strong drinks. Never a bad time at Hulas

Yelp
We went for mothers day a few weeks ago and it was a pleasant surprise! My first time visiting, I wasn't expecting a restaurant with so many menu offerings to be such good quality. Definitely different, but delicious! Also, our server was the manager and the busser let us know that he was the only server on the floor and it was BUSY! He provided such great service that we never guessed he was by himself so very grateful for that. We sat on the patio too which was nice, they had fan misters on as well.
google avatar

Maddie T.

Yelp
LOVE this place! came here for a quick lunch and it was great. this one guy doing everything too he absolutely killed it! hosting, serving, food running and bartending. still very attentive while doing it all. indoor and outdoor seating, big bar, great food. Had the coconut shrimp wrap appetizer, and smothered pork fries, and the lettuce chicken pineapple cups. couldn't even take a picture in time before we dived in. 10/10
google avatar

Garett B.

Yelp
Walking in the environment felt very commercial. A few tiki theme decorations. There is a small room that is a bit more tropical. Also no one working appeared to want to be there. The menu doesn't have any traditional drink recipes that I saw. We got the Mai Tai, Dr. Funk and the pain killer. They were ok but didn't taste like their intended recipes. I ordered the pot stickers they left a lot to be desired. Very dry and salty. I ate 3 of 6 and couldn't finish them. I can't say I'd recommend this place.
google avatar

Susan A.

Yelp
This gem consistently is a " go to" for me. Personally, I like the small room off the main area--a perfect spot to sit with friends without the noise generated in the rest of the restaurant. I find myself ordering the ceviche most often since it's something I most likely would not make at home. It's fresh tasting and surrounded by crispy tortilla chips it's a great alternative to a salad (and lets you indulge in a tropical drink without guilt). Service is always good and I think the prices are reasonable. It's a favorite spot when at Desert Ridge.

Hailey G.

Yelp
The poke tacos are my absolute favorite -- so fresh and flavorful every single time! They also have an excellent drink selection with something for everyone, whether you're into cocktails, or a simple drink. A special shoutout to our waitress Alyssa -- she's amazing! Super knowledgeable about the menu, incredibly friendly, and just an all-around outgoing person who made the whole experience even better.

Yelp
Hula's has a very nice happy hour menu of items that are both yummy and filling. It was enough for three of us to have a light dinner on the way to an event. It also has a unique open concept from the restaurant to the patio, perhaps not always available in the Phoenix heat. Where I found Hula's lacking was in the service. The hostess had the enthusiasm of a corpse and the energy to match. Our server didn't identify himself and he was quite busy, so a runner brought everything to our table. We requested a different condiment from both the runner and the server before we got it, and that was a chore as, again, we didn't know our server's name. Good food. Nice drinks. Pick up on your service.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Yum a little taste of Hawaii in the desert. Ive been here a handful of times, always a great experience with great food. Today we're on the patio with our pups for brunch. My husband got the loco moco and I had the traditional breakfast subbing rice for the muffin and some hula juice. Every thing was delicious!

Yelp
Whilst I've been to this Hulu's location at least half a dozen times before and have always had a nice visit, this time was extra nice. I brought a group of 6 with me and we sat outside in their lovely shaded patio area on a Sunday for brunch. Our server was friendly, on top of it, and food and drinks were all fabulous. Happy to say that weekend brunch is now the full/All day menu with a few specials on a small brunch flyer, instead of a whole brunch menu that was limited on some of my favorite items. Now I can get my ridiculously amazing Ahi tacos at brunch time as well, when they used to not be available. Also somehow I always forget, but they do a weekend happy hour for drinks only and all of their fabulous creative Mixology drinks are only $8, so you can try out a couple! My favorite are the Tropical itch, and the Mai Tai with easy lime. So good! Also a good mention how vegan friendly this restaurant is, and an extra special mention for the Madagascar sauce. If you'd like spice, ask for a little side of this little devil, and you will be wowed!! Everyone at my table loved it, and I personally liked dipping it with their sweet potato fries. It's a spice that hits different, because I'm told it has charred Thai chilis (and Serrano if I remember correctly)- and they are small but mighty!

Yelp
Just okay. Service is good. Hula's Modern Tiki is a fun restaurant with your go-to Hawaiian staple dishes. Thinking loco moco!?! Sadly, the Loco Moco was aggressively salty. Mushrooms good but again salty. You can also substitute for an impossible patty for meat-free. The vegan Jungle Salad was okay. Not terrible not great. Overall it's just okay. I want to love them so I will be back!

Yelp
Hula's on 7th Street serves up the same vibrant island fantasy as its Scottsdale sibling. The food is a bright, tropical indulgence--tender chicken skewers, tangy ceviche, and fries with a perfectly crisp exterior. But brace yourself for happy hour, where the crowds surge like a mid-century cocktail party gone wild. The staff, though stretched thin, handles it with admirable grace, even if service slows to a leisurely island pace. Tucked away is The Captain's Cabin, a secret premium bar with a nautical sailor's vibe and a more refined drink menu. We haven't yet ventured in, but it looks like something out of an old seafarer's dream. Drinks are strong, and happy hour offers one of the best bargains in Phoenix. Hula's remains a fun, flavorful escape, just as it was designed to be.

Yelp
What a great find! Such a nice ambience with great food and even better service! Tried both their alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks- they had plenty of variety and had beautiful presentation. Their appetizers were wonderful! The potstickers and their coconut shrimp rolls were a hit. Will be back again

Yelp
10/10 place atmosphere very cute, had the option of indoor and outdoor seating, everyone was very nice and welcoming. The food was delicious definitely different than any foods I've eaten by far and the drinks were delicious I ordered the zombie drink and I will say it is very strong it's the only drink I ended up needing and hit me pretty hard I do recommend coming here if your in the area 10/10 experience

Yelp
Everything was great from the moment the GM booked the reservation to accommodate our large group to the service. It was a lively evening during the holiday season but the server provided impeccable service! We started with some appetizers and a few of my favorites were Hula's Chicken Wings (perfect amount of crunch and the sauce was divine!!), Hawaiian Ceviche and spicy edamame. It lived up to its name and too spicy for me, but I'm a wimp! The drinks hit the spot and were fun to look at! The Mac and cheese was scrumptrulescent! I ordered Hapu white fish macadamia nut encrusted. Pretty great but I wasn't a fan of the mango sauce. Again, my fault as I'm not a big mango fan so my bad. It still hit the spot!! Overall, I would come back in a heart beat. Fun vibe, great service, awesome drinks and delicious food. What more can you ask for!!!

Yelp
We decided to try this place last night for food and a few drinks. We loved that they had a large bar seating area. It was Saturday evening and we had never been here before, so we didn't know what kind of crowd to expect. As we were here, it filled up pretty quick. I was surprised because they actually had a sour beer on tap. He chose a local IPA that he was familiar with. We both needed a little bite to eat to go with our drinks. I chose the Hilo sliders that can come in three different variations or you can have all three the same. I had three pork sliders, that didn't disappoint He chose the hula chicken wings in a spicy Asian bbq. We were very impressed at the presentation and flavor of each dish. I tried one of his wings and they were meaty and full of flavor, if you can handle a little spice. We were helped right away and they kept checking on us through our visit. We appreciate good service. As the evening went on, the temperature dropped drastically as it was mid December and they had the garage style doors open. Which they chose not to close until it was 60°. I had a sweater on and was freezing. Non the less, we both look forward to visiting again.

Yelp
Solid food with a great, mid century vibe. I will confess, I came here for the decor and mid century ambiance. I didn't expect much on the food front. And the decor delivered. In the 1950s and 60s, suburban America began a love affair with all things Polynesian and Hawaiian. These places were seen as exotic, far-away, and just what every suburban housewife longed to duplicate. We became obsessed with grass walls, tiki mugs, tiki heads, tiki masks, hula dancing, and all the tropes and trinkets emblematic of the South Seas. So this place is a throwback to that and the decor is right on. It's a cool vibe without delving into the realm of parody. I dont drink but the bar scene looks hoppin,. Ok, now onto the food. So it was pretty good. The menu is a mix of Carribean, Hawaiian, and barbecue-esque choices. You've got your ubiquitous "Loco Moco" which is a simple and memorable dish of rice, hamburger patty, and egg smothered in a savory gravy. It's popular in Hawaii and there are many variations (the traditional one is made with fried Spam). There is a decent sweet pork dish which is really just a sweeter, pineapple infused version of pulled pork. It's ok. They have several fish dishes which come encrusted with various things. They were also pretty good. The burger was good as well. I'd stay away from the chicken skewers, which came burnt and bitter-tasting. Overall, the food was decent if not memorable. The service was outstanding, with servers who knew the menu well and could suggest things readily. And they're always there for a refill. Nice job. My overall takeaway was that it's more a bar than anything else, and the food is standard, commercialized fare. It's not bad, but it didn't light me on Fire or made me HAVE to come back. I'd come for the vibe, sip a pretty drink with an umbrella in it, and absorb the tikiness all around you.
