The 31 Essential Restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

"As you enter Hum, by walking over a small pond filled with lotus leaves and fish, you immediately feel relaxed and calm. The restaurant’s aim is to demonstrate that vegetarian food can be a wonderfully complex experience for the palate far beyond fried tofu. The mushroom coconut curry, served in a fresh coconut, is at once sweet, creamy, spicy, and meaty, while the square deep-fried spring roll of mushroom and veggies is crispy on the outside and rich on the inside. Wash down the meal with shots of Vietnamese apricot rice wine." - Linh Phan

"Hum Vegetarian, Café & Restaurant Though vegetarian restaurants aren’t uncommon in Vietnam , they aren’t always easy to track down, and many vegetarian and vegan visitors end up settling for nonmeat options at normal eateries. (A traveler tip: The word chay means "meatless" or "vegetarian.") Hum Vegetarian Café & Restaurant is a reliably satisfying, MSG-free spot that prides itself on its eco-friendly practices and alluring flavors. Its inviting interiors include a tiled floor and hanging potted plants that create a calm, relaxed ambience. Warm, knowledgeable staff members serve dishes that regularly lure carnivores who are open to the principles of conscious consumption—at least for one meal."

Nicer veggie restaurant - very peaceful & feels spa-like. Get the mushroom fried spring rolls & sesame lotus chips.

The best small course meals ive had where I enjoyed every dish. Very creative and delicious dishes whether your vegetarian or not. The experience and ambiance is lovely. The server was knowledgeable and friendly; their passion and pride about the origin of Vietnam's vegetables and fruits was great. I enjoyed that the chef created an unconventional dish from a traditional/staple ingredient in everyday vietnamese food. The Kobucha was delicious too. Definitely be a place we come back to when visiting Vietnam. If you have any food allergies they will adjust the menu for you. If you're looking for something truly delicious, unique experience, and have an appreciation for vietnamese vegetables and fruits then come here for dinner!

Hum is one of the reasons we love spending time in Saigon. Our third visit for dinner two nights ago was exceptional. Guest manager Phu-o-ng Vu and his team provided exquisite plant-based food that vibrated with surprising, delicious flavours and nutrients. And the service and ambience was second to none - warm, friendly, and prompt without being too overwhelming. Hum is without comparison for a unique, high quality vegetarian dining experience - or any dining experience for that matter. Each dish is like a piece of artwork, with flavours that surpass all expectations. Thank you Hum for yet another incredible culinary experience.

Food was beautiful and delicious. Service was excellent and friendly. Ms. Kang Huynh did a great job explaining the dishes and providing excellent service. We tried so many new ingredients and it was definitely an experience. Mr Vu, the manager came out to speak to us and also brought up Chef Thanh. They were very gracious and humble. My only wish was that they would cater the menu to be more Vietnamese cuisine. What we got was more ecletic modern cuisine with some molecular gastronomy using local Vietnamese ingredients rather than reinterpretations of traditional Vietnamese cuisine. It was great and a nice concept but just not what I was hoping for.

We were lucky enough to enjoy the 12-course tasting menu on New Year’s Eve, and it was one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve ever had. Everything from when you see the building from the outside, to the way the staff guided you through the building to your table felt carefully considered. The atmosphere was calm and softly lit. A truly peaceful place. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was outstanding. Each dish felt like a small work of art, both visually and in taste. Highly recommended for both plant- and meat eaters. They also have a shop on the ground floor with a lot of beautiful handmade Vietnamese products.

We had an amazing experience last night at HUM Signature with Ms Anh Nguyễn. Her service was immaculate. We were so impressed by the drink menu and all the descriptions of the food/ingredients and how they were used. We highly recommend visiting if you are looking for a special culinary experience in HCMC.

From the minute I stepped into the restaurant, I realized it was going to be an amazing experience. The ambiance, the colors, the setting, and the simplicity of the place were just very inviting. Hǎng who did an amazing part of story telling and orchestrating the whole dinner; from presentation and explanation of various vegetables, plants, mushrooms, just took my imagination on a tour of Vietnamese landscape. This was one of the most memorable and most unexpected find! I still have the fond memories of the whole experience, dining was just a part of it. Really worth it to experience not just as a restaurant but an experience. Thank you Hǎng, the chef and the manager for all the enriching experience. I hope to see you all again in the future.

As someone who's always been apprehensive about a fine-dining experience, when we found out that Hum Signature was offering an 11-course vegan menu, we were intrigued. With Trang welcoming us with a beverage at one spot before we were moved to our table, there is so much care to detail that you really feel like you're special. Given it was my partner's birthday, Hằng and the Father (as he's fondly called by staff) really did that, even offering a very thoughtful gift. They're so attuned to our needs that they gave us hot water for a nagging cough and conversed about our preferences. The food, of course, is like no other in that every ingredient has a story that Hằng narrated so well. We also ordered baked coconut water that was the sweetest we've tasted. It is certainly higher priced, but it's well worth it because it's like a culinary tour of the country, right at one's table.
