"Famed for its elegant, French-inspired seafood cuisine, Torfan is set in a 19th-century building (the restaurant's name refers to Bernhöftstorfa, a historical part of the town) that’s decorated with traditional paintings on the walls, ornate ceramics, and classic wooden floors. Aside from the laudedIcelandic lobster it serves, the restaurant also offers up game, beef, fish, and even horse asà la carte options; set menus such as the Langoustine Feast and the Surf andTurf Feast; and vegetarian itemslike mushroom risotto and broccoli with oyster mushrooms—all of which balance tradition with modern techniques and influences. Service is friendly andprofessional."
Food was good. All dishes were tasty. But the service was really slow. We waited 20 minutes for 2 starters and more than 30 minutes after that to get the main courses. Overall, a bit pricey but worth the money. Just don’t come when you have limit time.

Quaint location (literally a stand-alone house) and some very good seafood specialties (languoustine croquettes, Baked lobster tail and the like) prepared in fusion-like style with all its foams and trying a bit too hard, East meets West characteristics. Overall a nice night. Friendly service.

The restaurant was recommended by the hotel and it was well worth it.
Ordered lobster soup for starters and 6 pices of mini lobster as main and now I wish I ordered more.
Highly recommend visiting and trying the food.
The place is very cossy and staff are super good.
Only draw back is the high price tag. But it is expected in Iceland.

We saw this place on an ad on the plane and it looked amazing. Having to eat our way through Iceland I wanted to try everything on the menu, instead we did a bunch of appetizers which was filling enough for two of us. We did the foie gras which was amazing, the horse, smoked char and minke whale, the beet carpaccio and the Langoustine soup. Everything was delicious, the service was impeccable and the decor was top notch. Would highly recommend this place to anyone thinking of trying it.

Incredibly delicious meal and friendly waitstaff. The atmosphere was very romantic.
We had some of their set menus and can highly recommend the Seafood Feast and Surf n Turf. Both were delicious and it was really nice to try so much of their menu.

Absolutely amazing...down to every detail!!
First of all the place is cozy chic with hidden gems everywhere. The waitress was top professional as well as a kind soul. Secondly...the 'Sweet Lava' cocktail...an original tasty drink by far! And of course the food...I am speechless...(languostine soup for starters then the shellfish symphony)...every bite was treasured!

A local classic positioned regally atop a hillside in downtown Reykjavik and rightfully so. A beautiful old building encapsulates a fine dining experience with a relaxed vibe and wonderfully friendly and professional hosts. For Christmas Day we had the Langoustine set menu which was simply stunning with a delicious bottle of Chablis. Starting with a rich but balanced Langoustine soup and folle by The main course of lobster , scallops and Langoustine cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. To finish off was a perfect crème brûlée. To sum it all up in a word ‘sublime’ - HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This dinner was a disappointment from beginning to end. I decided to check out this place because of the reviews and I was left dissatisfied. I feel this restaurant is very overrated and incredibly over priced.
Pros: The atmosphere was good and the service was attentive but not intrusive. The desert was simple but good.
Cons: The soup tasted off (bitter) and left a very unpleasant after taste. Once the soup is combine there was a green sludge that floated on top and made it unappealing. The main course was flavorless. I was expecting a grand experience, but that is not what occurred. There was just simply no flavor. I also did not like the bathroom. It was strange very small room. When sitting on the toilet you have to put your feet on the door sill because there is no room in front of it. Further I had to crouch down to wash my hands in the sink because the ceiling was too low.
Bottom line: I would not recommend or return for another meal at any point in time.
