Humble Grape Crouch End - Review - London - The Infatuation

"Crouch End is the latest place where Humble Grape has opened a wine shop, bar, and restaurant. The space is bright and warm, with bottles lining exposed brick walls, and come summer, there’ll be a terrace out front. Like the other five locations around London, tastings and masterclasses will be on offer too. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

A very mixed experience at Humble Grape 🍇 The food - the pork belly and the pickled mackerel were both very good, but the crab gnocchi weren't very crabby, the courgette fritters weren't a star, and the flat iron steak lacked seasoning and flavour. The service - this almost felt like a scam, the restaurant has a deal where you can buy wine bottles at the "take away" price rather than dine in for 50% off one day per week. This was heavily sold on us by the wait staff, and so we went for it, but ultimately the bottle we bought was only £1 less than that on the menu. It would be better to say, you can explore a larger range of wines or better wines for prices similar to the menu, pushing 50% off wines when you have no context of the prices of said wines, whilst there is a menu with dine in wine prices in front of you, is not good practice.

We had an incredible time. The food was excellent, and the wine selection was impressive. We sampled the monthly flights, currently featuring California wines. We'll definitely return.

Outstanding Sunday Roast - the vegetables were as good as the meat which is saying a lot for me. Great Service and Atmosphere. The Butterscotch pudding was outstanding. Generous portions - I highly recommend!

When you walk in to humble grape it does not seem to be as spacious as it is. The front of the wine bar looks rather small with few tables at the front, next to the window. It’s a wine bar with delicious food served. There is plenty of seating area at the back. The wine bar stocks more than 400 wines from different countries. They are a bit pricy to be honest. I am not a wine drinker and I came here to eat. The food was excellent, I had one of the best dining outs that I could remember. It was simply amazing and delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection. The prices on the menu are above average and you are also charged compulsory 12.5% service charge on the top, which are not included in the menu prices. I disliked the tables and chairs they were small. That’s probably the only thing that caught my attention. Overall I was extremely impressed with the food. It was the best and I would definitely recommend it if you don’t mind spending a bit more on your bill.

This is a very warm and welcoming restaurant. You are made to feel very comfortable as soon as you enter. The service is great, the menu is very interesting and the wine list is excellent. We went with another couple and all were extremely pleased with food. Lovely flavour combinations, all very well cooked. Thank you Humble Grape!

The Bulgarian wine was delightful and the cheese plate was delicious. Quite small inside but really warm and welcoming. Unfortunately there was a strong sewers smell when we entered.

As always the food and staff were top notch. As I'd forgotten to request a table in the bar for our Sunday lunch we were placed in the restaurant where the acoustics were such that it was quite hard to hear each other. Will definitely always book in the bar in future.
