Funny enough, this brewery is literally down the street from where I grew up. Obviously I wouldn't have cared when I was a kid (if craft beer had even been a thing back then) - as an adult, though, every time I come back to Santa Cruz to visit family, I *mean* to check this brewery out, but I keep not actually making it. Well, a couple months ago, I finally actually made it. (It helped I was there a random weekend in October, rather than during the holidays like usual, when hours are all weird.)
Anyway, it is your usual order at the front sort of place - I was happy it's also the sort of place that lets you get tasters in any configuration, not just pre-set flights (or worse, only serving full pints - I want to try all of a new brewery's beer, you can't do that if they only serve pints!) Each 5oz pour had a different price, ranging from $3.50-4.50. Super friendly people, and tons of space (though mostly outside), so it would be a great place to hang out for a bit. They do have a fish & chips truck every weekend, with fairly reasonable prices for Santa Cruz - it looked great, but we already had lunch plans that day. I will have to try it sometime though.
Beer-wise, they specialize in hazies, so if you weren't into that style, they'd have a much smaller menu than if you do, at least when I was there. I like hazies fine, so I tried a couple. Personally thought their flagship hazy was just ok - the double hazy I tried, though, I thought was wonderful. (Though it's likely they have a totally different beer list by now - it looks like that sort of brewery. I also tried a totally wonderful ESB that isn't on their current list.) If I lived in this area as an adult, I would definitely be there all the time.
