19 San Francisco Bay Area Restaurant Closures to Know This October 2024 | Eater SF

"I learned Humphry Slocombe, which launched out of its 2790 Harrison Street space in 2008 and later expanded into additional locations and grocery-store pints, will close its original shop as of October 30; co-owner Jake Godby called the situation "heartbreaking," saying they've been losing money since Covid and lacked the resources to maintain the store the way they would have liked." - Justine Jones

A local Bay Area ice cream spot with many locations around the bay. Looking for some dessert or ice cream while around Bay Street in Emeryville, this is the spot. Open fairly late with both indoor and outdoor seating. There popular flavors are their Vietnamese coffee and cereal type of flavor. They have unique flavors and lots of options. I like to get mine sometimes on a cone or to share with a cup. There’s parking garage parking in the area. Service was great, the worker was very patient with our group as we sampled many flavors. We went with like a mint one and I forgot the other and got 2 scoops and shared it.

Lots of really odd sounding flavors, but we weren’t in the mood to experiment. But they had a chocolate malt flavor, and it was the best chocolate ice cream I’ve ever had! Place was clean, the server was very nice and helpful. Not cheap ice cream but worth the price

Ice cream is pretty darn good. I love the unusual flavors. And the ice cream has a good texture. Today I got two scoops of something minty and one scoop of pumpkin. Service is always friendly. They let you try samples before buying. Clean comfortable dining area. All in all a good ice cream experience.

I tried the scoop of ice cream over a brownie. The ice cream was creamy, but the flavor didn’t stand out. The brownie, unfortunately, tasted reheated and was overly chewy. Overall, just okay.

Absolutely loved this place. The flavors weren't what you'd expect, but it was definitely appreciated. We had the secret breakfast, and honestly, we were a mixed crowd. Some loved it, and others could live without it. It's all about preference on that one. The Taihitian Vanilla was phenomenal and I added fudge on top and it made it that much better.

It’sa cute little spot. The flavors could be better or they could have more variety. The service was great.

I’ve had ice cream before. It was today that is discovered that I’ve never had ice cream from here! Their DQ Sundae is the most amazing creation to compliment a day in Emeryville. The staff were professional yet down to Earth. The establishment was clean and there was plenty of seating. The wait time was minimal and it was pleasant to watch them create your order. I recommend this location to all!

I bought a hot chocolate for 5 dollars, but my cup barely had 2 centimeters of chocolate. Besides, it didn’t even taste like chocolate—it was just water with sugar. I told the cashier, and he said that was all they had.
