Cybelle’s on Piedmont Closes in Oakland After 37 Years - Eater SF

"Humphry Slocobome made a new tart, smoky ice cream flavor inspired by the production: Earl Grey with burnt lemon. It’s available starting today at all Bay Area locations." - Janelle Bitker

Where to Eat and Drink in Oakland’s Northgate-Waverly Neighborhood | Eater SF

"The only East Bay post of SF’s popular Humphry Slocombe offers scoops, sundaes, and pints of both classic and notoriously unconventional flavors. Since it’s located inside a shipping container in the middle of the Hive complex, there’s only a handful of outdoor seats, so plan accordingly." - Janelle Bitker

SF’s Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream Opens Today on Abbot Kinney in Venice - Eater LA

"San Francisco’s Humphry Slocombe ice cream company opens today in Venice. The popular Mission District shop starts scooping midday, with a grand opening party to come on Saturday. Humphry Slocombe is one of the better-known ice cream brands to come out of the Bay Area, famous for its unusual concoctions and happy-go-lucky vibe. Diners can dive into everything from carrot mango sorbet to the once-boozy Secret Breakfast, a bourbon ice cream offered with actual corn flakes on top. The company also sells cakes and pies and their own ice cream cookbook from locations at the San Francisco Ferry Building and in Oakland; they even popped up earlier this year at Smorgasburg in Downtown LA. Now they’re jumping to the south end of tony Abbot Kinney, right between The Tasting Kitchen and Lemonade. The compact 1,000 square foot shop offers some limited seating inside and out, but is mostly meant for diners to grab and go as they peruse the boulevard. The company has some stiff competition on that front though, considering Salt & Straw is just down the street, and Jeni’s isn’t far away. As for the opening party on Saturday, look for free scoops from 11 a.m. to midnight, plus music and giveaways and more. Expect limited hours now until the opening reveal on Saturday." - Farley Elliott

I will keep posting it here and google can keep deleting. Let’s see how long this will keep going. Here are pics of two sundaes from last night. Paid $20. Look at the serving size and look at the amount of fudge. The brownie was hard and had to be crushed with spoon. Is it worth the price?

We've had HS ice cream on occasion over the years and it's as good as it always is. Definitely one of our favorite ice cream places. The finish/mouth feels clean and milky vs creamy and viscous like Mitchell's for example (both have their place and time). We have tried to like one of the other currently popular places whose name has salt in it, but after three tries we've come to accept that it just wasn't up to our liking. HS is much better for us. Service was upbeat and friendly here even though I know he was tired from what must've been a busy day (extra warm outside).

Google
Had a great double scoop here. Always love Humphrey flavors. Novel, but not weird.

Google
Delicious ice cream with very different flavors, I really liked it! This was my first time trying and I was very surprised there was a lot of people and it was very late at night. Some of the flavors’ names didn’t say anything to me and I wish I could have more explanation about them but I guess you can’t go wrong with this brand and you just need to trust your instincts and try one. I went for the ginger stout flavored and it was incredible.

Google
We love HS’s ice cream and this 1-star review is entirely for the lack of service at this location tonight. We approached, looked at the menu, excited for the new flavors (I got HS’s newsletter about them this afternoon!) and waited for the woman to turn around to help us. No acknowledgment. So I said “Hello?” And she does not turn around. I’m puzzled. Does she have earbuds in both ears? So I practically screamed to get her attention, at which point, she turned around, looked at us, mumbled something, and turned back to cleaning the counter. Seriously? We watched her clean for another 20 seconds and decided to go to Miharu instead. Apparently this happened to my partner the last time he came, too. Am I trying to get her fired? Maybe. But this really is a management issue. Train better or you will lose business. And there was no line tonight to say she was busy. That back counter better be sparkling!

Special Breakfast was a little runny, but delicious! Great flavor options

Google
Visited this truck while in Oakland for work. Some very nice staff and they have some interesting seasonal flavors but I settled on Chili Vanilla and Secret Breakfast. The Secret Breakfast was excellent but I decided to give 4 stars because they had to use a chili caramel sauce for the chili vanilla since the chilis weren't mixed into the ice cream well and were all at the bottom of the container.

Google
literally cannot help myself when I walk past, especially after a few at drake’s next door. They do have 1 or 2 vegan options, usually almond joy which is great but I look out for their chocolate.

Yelp
Lovely service, open til 11 - not to be missed! Began milk and cookies hit the spot and the lavender was devoured by my teen daughter.

Yelp
I came here for ice cream and asked if I could try, the employee working here Wednesday, 6/12/24 around 6:40pm said, "no." Literally after I got my ice cream, I went to sit down and she allowed other people to try ice cream! I am Asian, the other customers were non-Asian.

Yelp
Ice cream is pretty good. Prices are really high and mostly not listed so feels kind of sneaky. People working there seem like they really hate it.

Yelp
Humphry Slocombe is a Bay Area must, nad we're lucky to have one just north of Downtown Oakland. First, let's give it up for HS for doing samples. Gone are the days where you can sample ice cream flavors...I feel like that's so rare these days post-pandemic. Second, there was ONE person working the entire ice cream truck. Props and shoutout to you love! They're located inside "The Hive" with a bunch of other shops like a barber and just around from Drake's beer garden. They're a takeout situation, they share communal space with other shops and a tiny table but it's more of a grab-n-go vibe. The menu is easy to read in large chalk and by the ordering station. I had to go for the Secret Breakfast as that's one of their namesakes. The crunch of the corn flakes and the delicious but not overly sweet bourbon vanilla was the perfect choice on a warm summer night. I also sampled the strawberry blondie which was tasty, but one the sweeter end for me. I love me some berry ice cream with the yummy texture of a cheesecake or some graham bites, and the blondie cake was very satisfying. I was curious about a bunch of the others but didn't want to hold up the line, so I will def be back to sample and try the others next time. My friend loved the honey graham ice cream. The service was so kind and sweet. We got great scoops that felt very generous, and I love that HS supports local events as I saw some flyers here and there for other local biz and events. Highly recommend stopping by HS for a taste of a Bay Area local ice cream joint.

Jane K.

Yelp
Maybe tried them on an off day at Off The Grid (food truck) at OMCA, but the ice cream was half melted and the lavender flavor was okay...not very nuanced. In terms of flavor, I still think Salt & Straw is the best. I'm pretty judgmental about doing the right thing, so if you're running a business that is ice cream, make sure your goods are frozen well! The lack of care with it being half melted was off-putting. I would not go to a storefront to try more, and definitely will skip next time they're at OMCA.

Yelp
Highly recommend the Berry Kouign Amann as one of Humphrey Slocombe's best flavors EVER! Actually got their famous Secret Breakfast. Always a good choice and throwback flavor with bourbon and cornflakes but then sampled their Berry Kougin Amann and was blown away by the flavor and texture. It tasted like light blueberry and strawberry mixed together with flaky pieces of crossaint. That's what it tasted like to me, and I absolutely loved it. Seriously a medal winning flavor! Also, great staff here who were not stingy with samples and who were kind. Great experience today!

Yelp
A bay area staple and for good reason. The special is the secret breakfast but I will say that all the flavors that I have tried are amazing (in addition to all of the wonderful service). At least on this particular visit I got a pint of the cornflake crunch and a single scoop of the salted caramel with cocoa nibs. If I have one piece of advice it would be to get the salted caramel. It was a lovely mix of salty and sweet and the crunch of the nibs just really brought it all together. Again, I have not met a flavor I did not like here so try a bunch!

Yelp
Came across this ice cream place while searching for dessert in the area on Yelp. My husband and I were not disappointed at all! I can't remember what flavor he got but he said it was super good. He got his in a sugar cone while I got my single scoop of Hong Kong Milk Tea in their homemade waffle cone. We arrived at a perfect time with only one person in front of us and once they left we were helped by the nice lady. She allowed us to have many samples which we really appreciated since it was our first time trying this place! We almost couldn't decide which flavor we wanted but went for the most unique since we're not local to NorCal. There's a small seating area nearby so we took out cones to enjoy our dessert there, and that's when things really picked up and a huge line formed! There's lots of street parking available nearby and some parking lots (but you'll have to pay to park there). Sundays on the street are free! I am definitely keeping this ice cream company bookmarked so I can try it again when I'm in town!

Yelp
This place is and amazing sweet tooth craving treat after a long night. My favorite scoop of ice cream was the cornflake scoop because it was so spot on. Adding cornflakes on top was the chefs kiss because it complimented the cornflake ice cream and added a nice crunch. The cornflake ice cream came with surprising chunks of sweets like a dough of some sort that I absolutely fell in love with. Our bottom scoop was the peanut butter fudge ripple and I also thought it was pretty good. The texture was dense but it just melts in your mouth after that first bite.
google avatar

Cindy G.

Yelp
This place is amazing & a must stop whenever we're in Oakland! I always crave dessert after a meal & they are conveniently located next to Drakes Dealership beer garden. I had the cornflake crunch and it's been my go to for a while, the nostalgia this flavor brings me is just chef's kiss! They provide samples and even pint sizes to go.

Yelp
I swear, this place gets me on the way out of Drake's every time (unless it's closed or the line is busy). It's such a convenient little ice cream stand, and everything from single scoops to "S'mores" (scoop of ice cream, fudge, graham crumbles, and marshmallow brûlée) is killer. It's also cute that it's tucked away off Broadway in the Hive pedestrian alley. There's a life-sized chess board nearby too, if you want some strategy with your scoop.

Yelp
I visited this location that is situated in a courtyard off of Broadway in uptown Oakland, CA. This location is an upscale ice cream truck on wheels. It was well into the evening and close to closing when I arrived to see there were no customers in line and the courtyard was empty. The attendant was very friendly and engaging and I think our conversation carried on longer than I expected because we both realized we had ties to the Washington, D.C. area. I appreciated his customer service. The ice cream was good. It is on the same level of similar ice cream shops that attempt to distinguish themselves by having unique flavors and ice cream concepts. Overall a good sweet treat experience. On this occasion I ordered a brownie sundae with cookies and cream ice cream. I was a bit indecisive with the ice cream selection as I originally wanted to order a two-scoop cone, however in a rush I didn't take my time in selecting a more traditional ice cream flavor to accompany the chocolate brownie with chocolate fudge. But it was still delicious. Give them a try.

Yelp
This outstanding ice cream is served out of portable container building and it's been here for years. the ice cream is first rate, and expensive, with very friendly service. My favorite time is during warm weather, enjoying a snack on the nearby outdoor seating.

Yelp
So from all my many many check-ins I guess you guys can tell this is my FAVORITE ice cream spot in Oakland!!! Their Tahitian Vanilla! Hands down best vanilla I have ever had in my entire life!! I could eat this stuff everyday if it was for al the calories, fat, sugar etc etc lol but you catch my drift! I pretty much come here whenever I get a sugar craving Aka sweet tooth kicks in and I practically run to this place for a fix! I've never had a bad flavor but I usually stick to my fav! Lately I've been adding hot caramel with whipped cream and omg it's a sugar explosion!
google avatar

Courtney S.

Yelp
You really can't go wrong with any flavor here. There are vegan options as well. My favorite is a tie between the secret breakfast and the strawberry shortcake.
google avatar

Yelp
My newest favorite ice cream spot HANDS DOWN! Conveniently located right next to Drake's Dealership, it's the perfect place for dessert after a night of dinner and drinks. While my friends and I all ordered different flavors, it's hard to pick a favorite. The ice cream isn't overly sweet, and some flavors have added sea salt, which makes the dessert even more rich and complex. I ordered the Strawberry Blondie in a sugar cone. I expected it to be very sweet, but the strawberry flavor was understated, and the blondie bits added some salt and sweetness. The cone was absolutely delicious and really complemented all the ice cream flavors we tried. I also loved that the portion sizes aren't too large. Most ice cream places give way too much, and I always feel very wasteful because I can't finish it all. The portions here are perfect; even after eating a full meal, you'd want to finish it all!

Yelp
DATE: 08/13/2022 I've been to this location quite a few times and I've never been disappointed. Well, maybe because this ice cream stall is conveniently located right next to Drake's Dealership. So after having a few drinks and a nice chat with friends at Drake's, I always go here for dessert, which is always something that completes the night. They have many ice cream flavor and they do allow you to try and taste them before ordering. The ice cream specifically in the picture is the Churron flavor. It is a new flavor (probably a temporary flavor) that combines Churro and Turon (a Filipino fried banana dessert). This flavor was a partnership with Señor Sisig. Honestly, the ice cream was good but weirdly interesting at the same time. It was heavily banana-flavored, which I like, but it does not really resemble the turon taste since turon is made from plantains, which you'll know the taste difference if you grew up eating turon. The ice cream also had churro bites which I didn't specifically find satisfying. Nonetheless, it was a unique flavor and I give a thumbs up for the effort. Their regular ice cream flavors are really good, so make sure to stop by especially after a nice time at Drake's!

Yelp
YUM!! I was hoping for secret breakfast to be on the menu as it's my favorite flavor whenever I'm at the ferry building in SF, however this night I was not as lucky, but I branched it and tried a triple scoop of other flavors - Chili vanilla - better somehow than the tahitian vanilla which was too sweet. This was my hubby's favorite flavor. It was a very solid vanilla a must say in par with Häagen-Dazs - vietnamese blue bottle coffee - light and satisfying. Can never go wrong with coffee ice cream - OLIVE OIL BLOOD ORANGE - wow I'm blown away! This was on par with salt n straws olive oil ice cream. It's that buttery yet clean taste! But to throw blood orange syrup in that mix is a whole other level! If you like the flavor of the blog orange san peligrino soda and the freshness of olive oil this week be your jam! I don't know if it's my pregnant belly taking over my brain but I have thought about this flavor for 2 nights now Lady at the counter was very nice and was patient as we sample the flavors Great ice cream as always from this establishment!

Yelp
Ice cream tastes better in the winter! This is the cutest, little hidden gem ice cream shop! Love all the flavors and the secret s'more was the perfect treat. Perfect for 2 people to share.

Lance C.

Yelp
Ice cream was good! Love me a good sundae. Service was friendly and as quick as an ice cream scooper can scoop tbh. Ambiance gives me a sort of grab n go kind of ice cream, like buy it and walk around on a Sunday vs a sit in ice cream parlor. There aren't a crazy amount of flavors, but the ones they have are good. Try it out!
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
Located directly next to Drake's Dealership, a sundae or cone from Humphrey Slocombe will top off anyone's palate after an afternoon of chugging beer and pizza. My friends that are the ice cream experts said that the Secret Breakfast Ice Cream is the one to get. Unfortunately it was sold out. So I ordered: Fudge Brownie Dee-Lite: this is of course a brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with fudge. I also added an additional scoop of chocolate ice cream. I think what surprised my wife and I the most is how delicious and unique the vanilla ice cream is. Usually there's no wow factor when eating vanilla ice cream. It's like watching Lady Gaga at the Grammys, I began to surf the web on my iPhone when she started singing. But not the case with Humphrey Slocombe vanilla ice cream. It's like watching live TV when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock, I was like "WOW". All that being said, good ice cream with some flavors providing a wow factor.
google avatar

Portia P.

Yelp
Drove a nice distance to pick up some Bourbon Caramel, but when I got to the window they said it was sold out... excuse me, what?!?!?? I cannot comprehend sold out. I gave one last pitch and asked again.. u sure there's not one left?!? Worker says no, I'm sorry. But I'm standing/looking at displays of Bourbon Caramel & the caramel/fudge kits. So I ask about buying the display & he said sure! He checked the expiration, rung it up, and the bourbon caramel was on it's way home. No risk, no reward! I made banana sundae's and it definitely takes the edge off like it states on the jar. You can smell the bourbon. This is NOT for kids folks! Definitely worth begging for, I love it!!
google avatar

Cynthia L.

Yelp
First time coming here and it was such good ice cream! It's an ice cream truck but they do have outdoor seating available. We opted to get a double scoop (instead of two singles) because it was cheaper. My group came on a Friday night and we beat the rush. The next thing we know, there was this crazy long line! We felt bad since there was only one person working there :( Flavors: Tin Roof - vanilla with peanuts & fudge (similar to a rocky road) Blue bottle Vietnamese coffee - light coffee flavor Great for an after dinner treat or to hang out with some friends!
google avatar

Reina L.

Yelp
Located in The Hive, so it's a great little snack when you're waiting for your spot at Drake's Dealership! I've come here so many times and always get the Honey Graham flavor. It's a little sweet but tastes so good when you get a little graham cracker with every bite. They also used to have this seasonal flavor - Cornflake Crunch that I would do anything to have another bite of. Stopped by recently and they had run out of the Honey Graham flavor :(. I took a risk and tried the Smokey S'more's flavor and it tastes like I inhaled a forest fire in my mouth. The smoke flavor overpowers the S'more's flavor :(. I will not be finishing this one but I'll be back for my Honey Graham!
google avatar

Soh Imm O.

Yelp
Love the selections of flavor. So glad they opened a place on the east bay, we usually travel to SF to get Humphry slocombe! Our all time favorite is secret breakfast but the seasonal cherry elderflower is amazing! Love how the elderflower complemented the cherry flavor so well. Service was fast and staff were friendly
google avatar

Jacqueline F.

Yelp
This is overpriced ice cream. And I had a scoop and ordered the Peanut brickle. What I got was the saltiest ice cream that I have ever eaten. It was inedible. I went back to the woman who assured me that she had given me my peanut butter brickle. So, I was ordering from another spot and saw the $9, still overpriced ice cream. I bought it because I was curious and wanted to know what the flavor actually tasted like. It was good and tasty and I was right the first time, I was given an entirely different flavor at the food truck. So my score is 1 star for the wrong flavor and the grossness of it and the serious gaslighting. And four stars for the good ice cream. But I also take off for the price. Ice cream should not cost $9 per pint. I have been so curious about them because they have so much press and the flavors seem very interesting. But, never again. The truth is that I know that good pricey ice cream has existed. That's what I loved about Ici on College Ave. That was worth waiting in line, waiting to taste and suffering the switching our of one flavor for another. They also had other treats available and they were worth the price as well. But Humphry Slocombe isn't Ici and my days of chasing fancy, good tasting ice cream are over.
google avatar

Sanjeet S.

Yelp
Been a few times to this chain and the second time I've had this location. Never disappoints. Flavors are always delicious. Wanted to keep in simple and got the vanilla in a waffle cone. They also have other great flavors like honey graham and hong kong style milk tea. Definitely recommend. Also being right outside Drake's is a huge plus!
google avatar

Winnie Y.

Yelp
Couldn't resist making a stop here even during a rainy holiday season. I didn't know what kind of flavor Secret Breakfast was, but I just trusted that it would be good and it sure was. It was a kind of vanilla/malt flavor, absolutely delicious. It was pretty sweet, so sharing a small scoop with a friend was enough to satisfy my ice cream craving. Prices are standard here for the quality. Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
I experienced good service! And good ice cream. Secret breakfast is yummy! At the time they were not doing samples. They do have a grab and go case. This is right next to Drake's Dealership. There's a parking garage behind Drake's where we parked. There was a couple tiny tables outside their little shop. Across the way there was a few benches and tables.
google avatar

Sue L.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try the Matchadoodle for the longest time since it came out, but was a little disappointed with the taste. I couldn't really taste the snickerdoodle since the matcha overpowered it. Also, the ice cream is a bit overpriced for the amount you get. I do enjoy the open seating that's available in this area, especially since Drake's is right next door!
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
It's a little tucked away location! But stumbled upon it and went to try it. The girl who took our order was super nice and let us try some samples. The Tahitian vanilla was good. I highly recommend the Harvey milk & honey Graham or the Vietnamese coffee flavors.
google avatar

Yamileth R.

Yelp
All the pictures I saw looked so amazing even when i received mine I took a picture because i imagined it was going to be worth it. Honestly very disappointing, I asked for vanilla twice and was still given a different flavor. This place is for pictures, not worth the drive or money. The caramel had a very bitter taste and the ice cream flavor they ended giving us had some sort of gram crackers in it but it was awfully salty.
google avatar

Nicky M.

Yelp
employees are so kind to me here I work next door and ill come here on my break sometimes. like the ice cream is pricey but what ice cream isnt fucking overpriced in oakland .... EXACTLY
google avatar

Lawrence C.

Yelp
This is an ice cream place in Oakland that I've been to multiple times, as they have a ice cream stand/truck in a plaza there. Usually the wait isn't too long, and you're able to sample a lot of the flavors before you order. Humphry Slocombe has some pretty unique ice cream flavors, so definitely try some that you're interested in! Some of the ones that I've enjoyed include the Secret Breakfast and the Vietnamese Coffee ice cream. The Secret Breakfast has a nice bourbon taste to it that goes great with the ice cream, while the Vietnamese Coffee ice cream tastes pretty authentic to the coffee I've had before. I like the texture of the ice cream, and of course the flavors are great as well. I would highly recommend checking out this ice cream place if you're ever in the mood for dessert!
google avatar

Andrea M.

Yelp
Supper yummy - not too sweet but sweet enough with different textures from the crumbled graham cracker around the bowl. One of my favorite flavors. A tad bit on the pricey side but would definitely come back for a treat!
google avatar

Andy B.

Yelp
I was walking around downtown Oakland wanting to grab a bit of ice cream. When I saw that Little Giant Ice Cream was closed, my disappointment was short lived when I happened upon Humphry Slocombe! I ordered a scoop of the Smoked S'mores, and let me tell you-it lives up to the description. I didn't even take a picture, I was so eager to dive in. There was a bit of tanginess in the initial spoonful, which gave way to the smoke and mellow, marshmallowy sweetness. I later got small chunks of graham and chocolate. It was really a lovely ice cream and hit the spot.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
The worker was super sweet and attentive towards each customer! It is a one person show during the weekdays, please be kind! They unfortunately do not have taste testing any flavors which is completely understandable! The icecream was super flavorful and there were so many unique flavors. I did get a waffle cone, and I'm not sure if this is the signature consistency, but it was kind of hard to eat. The cone itself wasn't as chewy as I usually prefer the cone, it was very hard to bite into and chew. They are offering a deal if you buy 2 pints of icecream but I can't remember what that deal is.
google avatar

Kiana A.

Yelp
Really good ice cream and cute environment! My boyfriend got the double scoop (Vietnamese coffee and secret breakfast) and I got the a single (honey graham with hot fudge). We were both extremely happy with what we had! The service was also really good! The employee working was doing her absolute best. She was the only one working and had a line of customers, yet was patient with me when I asked for samples. It was a great experience.
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
Always the best quality ice cream and their cornflakes bring me back to youthful days! One of my favorite flavors are their Secret Breakfast, Vietnamese Coffee, and they always have rotating flavors to keep you coming back for more. Thankfully, they now sell the pints at Whole Foods and readily available at more places. Thank you for blessing us with magical happiness!
google avatar

Yelp
So happy this place was open late during COVID! I was craving my Fenton's but because of COVID they closed early. But Humphry slocombe was still open at 10pm! Unfortunately they are not letting people sample right now because of COVID. So we did the buy two pints and get the 3rd one free! We tried honey Graham, hong kong milk tea, and matchadoodle! The honey graham was my favorite! Rich and creamy just as ice cream should be! I can get a little sweet after a while though. My second favorite was the matchadoodle. It was yummy matcha green tea with snickerdoodle cookies. You could taste the matcha which I liked! It's also not as sweet so it's a nice balance. The hong kong milk tea I may have to try again fresh. It was a little hard in the pint and not as fluffy. I can't wait to try more flavors!

Yelp
Buy 2 get 1 free, $20 from your cloud kitchen in East Oakland. Using the Mother's Day promo from DD, I got 20% off on your delightful dessert. My late mother would of enjoyed your delicious ice cream.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely love this ice cream spot!! One of the best, creamiest ice creams with unique flavors in the Bay Area! They're generous on the free samples and give a free sugar cone with your scoops too! We ended up getting one scoop Vietnamese coffee and one scoop XXX chocolate and it was the perfect blend. Def will come again!!

Yelp
Located in "The Hive" in downtown Oakland, this is a pretty cool place because the ice cream shop is built into a train car. Humphry Slocombe has some special and unique flavors that make it really stand out. This location is in a really hip part of town surrounded by some nice restaurants. The most unique flavor here is the Tahitian vanilla. It's also a flavor that you cannot buy as a pint to go and for good reason. It's really good. Just the right balance of vanilla bean and sweetness to really accentuate the vanilla flavor. I know i know, how can vanilla be that good? Well come and try it out. Also another go to for me is the honey flavor. If you like honey, this is a must try here. Overall the flavors are all good and very unique. Some are seasonal so you just never know what you're going to get when you arrive.

Yelp
Set in a refurbished container next to a popular beer garden, this small shop packs a large ice cream punch. The flavors are always unique and delicious. Secret Breakfast is their stand-out with bourbon flavored ice cream. Bonus if you read this during September 2021 - they're giving out free pints of cornflake crunch if you're vaccinated.

Yelp
They have AMAZING FLAVORS! I had a difficult time deciding which flavors but decided on harvey milk & honey graham AND matchadoodle. They were both DELICIOUS and so creamy and perfect in the hot summer days! I finished both scoops in a heartbeat! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Yelp
A friend introduced me to this place hidden within a complex that neighbors The Peoples Barber, Drakes and Red Bay Coffee. It was easy to find and pretty nice to hang out at on a warm Sunday afternoon! Okay okay the ice cream part - DEE-LISH. I'm a chocolate lover so I tried their malted milk chocolate with their cornflake crunch topping. I wanted to go all out but I just had a hefty big lunch so I thought I'd keep it simple for now. It was creamy, sweet (not super rich), and pretty dense (if I wanted softer ice cream, I would hit up a soft serve yogurt joint). They were serious about getting the "malted" right, otherwise, it would have tasted like regular chocolate ice cream. Now, I'm an ice cream-a-holic (Hi, my name is Quin) . And these variety of flavors and concoctions are unique. I mean it's not your usual "chocolate" or "vanilla", though there are similar tastes, but they get pretty creative (even literally Van Gogh creative). I mean, their name is creative already (curious? Check out their story!). I can't wait to come back here again. Sooner than later hopefully! So why the 5 stars if I've only tried just one flavor and topping? I'm pretty sure that if what I tried already exceeded my expectations, the rest will also.

Yelp
i thought this was an ice cream store at first, but it actually a small shack locate in a public dinning area. I came for some candy cap ice scream, but they don't make it anymore so I ended up with 1 scoop of black sesame with a waffle cone ($6), it turn out to be pretty good, there was a lot of sesame flavor, and it wasn't way too sweet, seem just right. Also the portion was generous. the price seem to be cheaper the more scoops you buy, but they didn't have the flavor that I wanted at the time, may be next time

Yelp
Humphry Slocombe makes the richest-in-flavor ice cream I've ever had! What do I mean? The salted caramel ice cream with cocoa nibs is the most salted caramel ice cream I've ever had. The graham cracker and honey milk is the most honey milk ice cream I've ever had. All their flavors are so strong and rich. The ice cream is also very creamy. For the ice creams with accompanying crackers or nibbles, they are all big, satisfying pieces that elevate every other lick of ice cream. I like that they make fun flavors, use local ingredients/coffee shops, and have wooden spoons to minimize their carbon footprint on this Earth.

Yelp
CARROT CAKE ICE CREAM! woowwww... that's all I have to say. A MUST have! My kids & I love it here, they love the milk and cookies, and honey graham. We don't mind the 25 minute drive for this delicious ice cream. This is not your average ice cream shop, the flavors are quite interesting and one of a kind.

Yelp
I admire the place for trying to be a part of the Oakland culture, but it's just another place built in Oakland's gentrified locations with overpriced items. Being an Oakland native, I've been here a few times to give it a shot. Loard's ice cream is usually my spot. I get a single scoop of ice cream, but even that for over $4 is too much. This time I got the Secret Breakfast Sundae and 1. It didn't come with marshmallow fluff like it had advertised, and 2. the bourbon caramel was straight liquor. It was so strong I had to pick it off. We also waited in a short line for 20 minutes. $9 later... We get it, you make cool ice cream.
