The Most Fantastic Philly Food Trucks | Eater Philly

"After longing for a spot for late-night bites, Chef Joe Ermigiotti and his friends Patrick Doyle and Jack Craig brought Humpty Dumplings to life in 2014. Serving a variety of deep-fried stuffed dumplings, wings, salads, and noodle bowls, you can find its food truck vending at local events and festivals, or visit its storefronts in Glenside or behind the Saint Lazarus bar in Fishtown." - George Banks-Weston

This is my experience at a food truck they had set up. Pros: I had the cheese steak dumplings and they were pretty good. Kind of what you expect. Wasn't too hot to bite in. They were set up at my soccer practice which can be kind of convenient. The size of the dumpling is above average. The person running the truck smiled and didn't take too long. The truck looked kept well and clean. Cons: The first and biggest thing is the price. I know food trucks are not known for having decent prices, but guess I'm just tired of this. $17 for 6 dumplings? This isn't fine dining. They taste ok , but would be better if they had either onions or peppers in the cheese steak dumplings. Or the option for that would be nice. I didn't have much to say about them , mainly because it was really a mediocre experience. This is why the 3 stars. I wasn't impressed or disappointed. Wouldn't go out of my way to find one ,but if there I might get something. I'm Beef and that's where I was.

Absolutely delicious! The dumplings are packed and the noodles were very filling. 10/10 suggest this place! Great for delivery too

We went to the pop up they had at the Lantern Festival in Philly. I’ll start off with the fact I was skeptical about this place. The dumplings were round, deep fried, there were cheesesteak dumplings and they give you teriyaki sauce or ketchup to dip. I’m a traditional dumpling kind of person so I pre judged. Then I asked about the dough, was it like gyoza or is it like jiaozi? The woman at the register told me they’re on the thicker side but they’re in between. I LOVE jiaozi and living in NC it’s hard to find anything other than gyoza so I ordered the traditional pork dumplings..I’m so happy I got over myself and tried the dumplings. The dough was the ringer for me, the inside could’ve been trash and I would’ve been satisfied but they just got better the further you got into the bite. I even used the teriyaki sauce to dip them in. I’m super happy I pushed myself out of my box and had the chance to enjoy the dumplings. Next time we go back up to PA we will definitely plan a visit to the store front.

Google
The prices are SUPER reasonable for the food. The prices for the drinks are a bit over the top. For a .99 cent can of tea they charge $2.50. But the drink selection is good. I got 12 dumplings & some general tso noodles. The dumplings I got were broccoli & cheddar, buffalo chicken, cheesesteak, honey chipotle chicken and spinach and cheese. They were all ok. The cheesesteak, broccoli & cheddar & spinach and cheese were my favorites! They were sooooooo good! The chicken on the noodles were delicious & the flavoring on the noodles were also so delicious! The noodles were just soooo thick so too much of them wasn’t good. The service was ok. We weren’t greeted and he had a blah type attitude. We dined in and it was very big, but it did have like 2 or 3 booths that seat 4 people. We spent $50 dollars total on 12 dumplings, fries, noodles & 3 drinks.

Google
Wow- these were AMAZING!! Tried their truck at Musikfest and I’m super impressed. Wish they had a location in the Lehigh Valley!

Google
I recently tried Humpty’s Dumplings food truck. There were a variety of dumplings to choose from on the menu. They were packed with fresh ingredients and very flavorful. The fries were tasty too. The service was fast and friendly, and Charlie was so personable. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend Humpty’s Dumplings.

Google
I had humptys dumplings at the patio in horsham. I thought they tasted ok. They were hot but nothing I would run back to have again. I felt they were a little overpriced. Maybe they are better at their restaurant?

Ciara Royster

Google
I love Humpty’s Dumplings so I decided to try another location! They didn’t have the cheesesteak flavor when I went but I had the Honey Chipotle Chicken, Buffalo Chicken and S’mores with Asian BBQ sauce. They were delicious as usual and the s’mores had an overload of what tasted like melted brownie mix. I recommend.

Yelp
I am a very picky eater and can't have many foods. I found this place about 4-5 months ago and I have order every single day since. Their dumplings are incredible. they are well priced $12 for 6 and on Wednesday its $1 dumpling day!! They have a nice variety of flavors and they aren't small little dumplings. I usually don't like or eat fried foods but they are NOT greasy or oily at all. My family loves the broccoli cheddar, cheesesteak and honey chipotle chicken the best. Those are staples and then they change up their temporary flavors as well and most are incredible! The Chicken Parm were my absolute favorite! They also have well priced filling noodle bowls. We loved the chicken pot pie. It actually tastes like chicken pot pie with white meat chicken, veggies, crust topping and thick filling noodles with a sauce that's amazing. I recommend getting extra sauce as the noodles absorb the sauce so extra makes it PERFECTION!! I can not say enough about the customer service and kindness of the people that work there. I do order on GrubHub, DoorDash and the Toaat app (only on Wednesdays as the other apps dont Have the dumplings for dollar dumpling day) but anytime I called or contacted them on Instagram they've been incredible and go out of their way for their customers! Definitely Give them a try! You won't regret it!!! If there were 10 stars I'd give them a 10 star review!!!

Yelp
There are NO steamed options. We just called to ask. Other reviews seem to suggest there are - maybe that used to be the case 5 years ago when those reviews were posted. But as of 2/15/2025 they do NOT have steamed dumplings. They look good but we can't eat there because of the frying-only. Will rate 4 stars because I don't want to unfairly downvote them having not actually been there. Can't give 5 stars because they verified no steamed options which would have hurt my rating if I did go there.

Yelp
I was visiting a friend in Glenside and he suggested we order from Humptys Dumplings since it had been a while since he ordered from here and he knows I'm a foodie who likes to try new things. I had heard of Humptys Dumplings from the Christmas Market but the line was always long and I never tried them. We opted for the buffalo chicken, cheesesteak, spinach and ricotta, and chicken parm, along with a side of fries. Everything arrived hot and fresh. We tried the buffalo chicken first, dipped in ranch. They immediately burst in our mouths, both literally and figuratively. The flavor was insane. I make the best buffalo chicken dip according to friends and family, and this tasted JUST like it, with a little more of a spicy kick. We cleansed our pallets with the crispy French fries we ordered and then did the cheesesteak dipped in ketchup. The cheese oozed immediately and I knew this would potentially be my favorite. The spinach and ricotta needed a little more flavor, like onion and garlic, or a garlic aioli dip since the recommended soy sauce didn't pair well for us. Finally the chicken parm nailed the flavors you'd expect to find but could have used a creamy tomato vodka sauce dip or rosa sauce, although I'm a sauce dipping girl so I will ALWAYS recommend a sauce pairing even if others feel it's not needed. These dumplings were all PACKED with filling. I'm a big girl and I had 4 and was full so we had plenty leftover. Overall a great experience and fun to try!

Yelp
I had my party Platinum Garden celebration on Sunday. The dumplings were absolutely delicious. The variety was delicious. Everybody enjoyed them. For most of my guest, This was the first time had experienced your delicious dumplings. My husband picked them up at 1:30 as they were ordered and the staff there was phenomenal. I stopped by there a couple times just to check on the order prior to the event and they assured me that everything would be OK. It was beyond OK it was phenomenal. You will have many more people Experiencing your dumplings. Thank you so much. They were one of the most desirable finger foods at the celebration.

Yelp
I've only tried Humpty Dumplings from their food truck but I wanted to share how delicious they are. They have several different types of dumplings. My favorite is the cheesesteak dumpling. They're the perfect size if you need something quick. Also perfect for catering as well. I will definitely plan on stopping by the store in Glenside soon.

Yelp
Love the name. Love the food. These are not Chinese, Japanese, Polish, or any other category of dumpling. They are a wild mashup and I love it. By now I've tried most of the dumplings. So when we took our gift card to the big location, I decided to take advantage and try the noodles that aren't available at the location at The Saint. The noodles were fresh and chewy. The sauce was rather sweet, but with the fried chicken it worked. The noodles come with ridiculous (but tasty) toppings, usually based on dumpling fillings. We got some frozen dumplings to take home. I'll keep visiting the Saint for my dumpling fix. But my SO occasionally laments that he can't get those crazy noodles there.

Yelp
My experience getting food from Humpty's Dumplings was just okay. I recently got some dumplings from them for the first time in over 5 years since I was in the area and I remembered them being very tasty. Unfortunately the dumplings I had didn't live up to how I remembered them. They weren't bad, but definitely not what they used to be. I can only recommend getting these on the $1 per dumpling deal they have on Wednesdays.

Yelp
Came here for lunch in the afternoon, wasn't too busy. The place was rather small but had a self order kiosk which I found really helpful. The service was alright but not exceptional. Seeing as it was my first time here, I decided to order a sampler of assorted flavors, running me about 6 dumplings for $12, which is a bit on the pricy end. Still, I wanted to put them to the test to see if it was worth going anyways. The flavors I tried were: Buffalo chicken, honey chipotle chicken, pizza steak, spinach/mozzarella/ricotta, broccoli/cheddar, and --the most popular flavor-- cheesesteak. They came out a little smaller than I expected from the pictures, but the flavors were really nice and the dumplings held up more than I expected. My favorite flavor was the cheesesteak as I feel it was the most well rounded and -- rather familiar -- flavor, but I felt like the Buffalo Chicken was in close second. In addition to the dumplings, I helped myself to one of their noodle dishes too, specifically the Buffalo chicken flavor ($14). It was honestly really nice and had a lot of toppings (Buffalo sauce, ranch, and some blue cheese) and little bits of crunchy Buffalo chicken bites that really held the dish together! Was it good? Heck yeah! Was it worth the money? It's a bit on the pricy end so I wouldn't go here too often but one thing is for sure: I will definitely be returning here, and will bring a couple friends along too.

Yelp
Delicious and creative! Definitely recommend for a casual quick bite when looking for something new and interesting.
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered various dumplings and the Generals Noodles. Everything was delicious. The cheesesteak dumpling were my favorite and the hot honey chicken dumpling was a close second.
google avatar

Calahan Q.

Yelp
Those dumplings are so good. I got 2 Asian Pork and 1 cheesesteak. Came out in literally 3 seconds. Food is so good.
google avatar

Pamela S.

Yelp
Interesting flavors but extremely oily and greasy. The oil is dripping out the dumplings and you bite in.
google avatar

Caitlin L.

Yelp
This "dumpling" place is the epitome of gentrified Asian food, so don't get your expectations too high. The "dumplings" are fried, fatty, and taste unhealthy, so I recommend you eat the "dumplings" as an app or snack, not a meal like I did. The "dumpling" fillings were for the most part, unmemorable, but I think I did like the buffalo chicken one. Service is run by a bunch of teens, and there isn't much to the ambiance. I don't recommend this place and don't plan on coming back.
google avatar

Hailey G.

Yelp
i love their unique twist on dumplings; there are so many different flavors, all of which are delicious
google avatar

john b.

Yelp
Tried out their dumpling sampler. 6 for $12 seems a little pricey as you'd expect to be somewhat full. There was no way to find out which dumpling was which without biting into one. I couldn't differentiate a couple of the dumplings which I guessed were buffalo even though I know I ordered only 1 buffalo. Flavor wise it wasn't bad for most of them. Some of the dumplings looked more fried than others but it didn't really take away from the flavor. Nothing really bad but I don't think I'd drive out of my way again to have these.
google avatar

Yelp
Fries were solid I'd pass on the boba it's basically lemonade with popperz not the worst tho. Gotta say the dumplings were good the elote ones I got however I just wanted more lol but like in a good way definitely tasted fresh and contemporary as far as street food goes and tastes and creativity with the menu n all go here n find out its like good stuff ngl couple more cheeses probably would go a long way

Yelp
Dumplings are amazing Very nice costumer service . Very clean environment. Everyone was friendly.

Yelp
I was at a wedding this weekend and Humpty's food truck was present as part of the late night bites. It was AMAZING! The staff was on top of the orders with over 6 options for 130+ people. All of the dumplings were freshly made and HOT! (This is difficult but they were on top of it) highly recommend based on the quality, taste, and attention to detail from the staff!

Kristopher B.

Yelp
Gave me an order of chicken dumplings despite the order i placed which was entirely vegetarian which I did not realize until i had already walked the 15 minutes home. You need to be more responsible with this as food allergies exist for a reason and my wife bit into the dumpling not knowing it was chicken. I then had to take it back and wait in line to get the correct food but there was no refund/% off/manager apology for this mistake, just the kid at the register handling it. Worst part is they use the guilt trip card machine that automatically asks for tips and I was feeling generous so I tipped and then got the wrong order that I had to bring back. Unfortunately screwing up and giving me meat despite my order, means I will never eat there again.

Kevin E.

Yelp
Tried their dumplings at the Irish Festival in North Wildwood and they didn't disappoint. We tried the cheesesteak, Asian pork, and chicken bacon ranch. They all were delicious made with high quality ingredients.
google avatar

Joanne M.

Yelp
Stopped in here for lunch, okay service! Variety of Dumplings are offered but when ordering a sampling nothing labeled so you don't know which one you're eating til you taste it! I would say it's okay! But not impressed!
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
Don't expect to get an Asian style soup dumpling, dim-sum, or even a chinese restaurant potsticker. These dough balls are bloated, fried, heavy globs designed for the after-bar drunk crowd. Cheesesteak dumplings, corned beef dumplings. Yuk, no thanks. When I went (and tried a second time just to be fair), the counter person couldn't answer any questions that I had about the food. And I mean anything. The ingredients, the type of dumpling, or even the sauces. And did not provide utensils or napkins. People say that it has gotten better, but no, not for me. I'll see you in Chinatown!
google avatar

Nina E.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with their cheesesteak dumplings and I love their $1 dumplings on Wednesdays
google avatar

Brooklyn R.

Yelp
I love it! I ordered the cheesesteak and the chicken honey chipotle! Sweet dumplings dipping sauce was so good... I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Andy R.

Yelp
I've had this place a few times, it's just ok. Maybe it was great when it first opened and cheesesteak dumplings were a novelty, but time moves on and Humpty's hasn't. The dumplings are uninspired and usually dried out and the last two times I ate in, (pre-pandemic) the place was especially dirty. If you prefer your cheese steak in dumpling form then maybe this is the place for you, but there are far too many better restaurants in the area for me to continue trying my luck here.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
I've had Humpty's bookmarked for a while and I was in the area yesterday, so I finally gave it a try. Oh my god. There is no other place like this! It's basically fried dumplings. YUM. I walked in and was surprised at how spacious it was. From the outside, it looked tiny. There was plenty of ample seating when I was there. The employee at the register was very kind. I asked him which of the dumplings were vegetarian/vegan and he said they had 2 varieties available - broccoli cheddar and vegan chili. I ordered 5 dumplings; 2 chili and 3 broccoli. Every Wednesday, dumplings are $1 each. The dumplings are made to order so I sat at the table and waited for them to call my name. The same gentleman who took my order walked around and brought over my basket of dumplings. He explained that he included a cup of ranch sauce to dip the broccoli dumplings in and that there were other sauces located on every table that I could also put on the dumpling to add a little extra flavor. The sauces provided on the table ranged from mild to extra spicy. They were original Humpty's sauces, buffalo wing type sauces. I used the mild one for the chili dumpling and it wasn't bad at all. The broccoli dumpling was a bit more savory than the chili one. The chili dumpling was somewhat dry but it was still delicious. On their menu, I saw they have noodles and salads as well. A girl at a table across from me was having noodles and they looked great. Not sure if they have a vegetarian option for the noodles. I honestly can't believe I didn't try this place sooner. It is to die for.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered two types of noodles. The sauce and cheese on the noodles are very rich. I like this mellow taste. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Vishali P.

Yelp
This fast casual eatery was not really what we expected. What was good: -Atmosphere was modern casual limited seating but wasn't busy -service was fine -clean bathrooms -the honey chipotle chicken dumplings BUT the sauce it came with was way too sweet. The dumpling flavors were too weird for me such as cheese steak and cheddar broccoli. If you do come here get the chipotle chicken but eat it with the spicy sauce on the table What was bad: -Honey sriracha noodles were just so sickly sweet I wouldn't recommend it. The chicken it in was fine but it just makes you feel gross eating it All in all wouldn't come back
google avatar

Veronica K.

Yelp
This is a very cute idea for a fast casual styled restaurant, and I was mostly pleased with my dumplings. If you order different flavors it's a nice little guessing game of what you will bite into. They all look the same on the outside and there's no labeling. The far and away winner in my opinion was the cheesesteak dumpling. It reminded me a lot of cheesesteak egg rolls, which I love. It was very cheesy and greasy, a good guilty pleasure. The Asian pork is a close runner up, very traditional and melts in your mouth. The buffalo chicken and cheddar broccoli were both decent, but did not really stand out. The chipotle barbecue chicken though was far too sweet, and fell in last place. I would not get it again. Overall I think this is a nice little addition to the Keswick area. Service is quick and the shop is clean, if you like dumplings it's worth a shot.
google avatar

Jess T.

Yelp
This is a great treat for anyone looking for a small savory bite. The options are delicious and I am a fan of their broccoli and cheese dumpling, but I have tried all of them and they are fan favorites in our house among the teenagers.
google avatar

Jenaya P.

Yelp
Humpty Dumplings, you were delicious, creative and fun size! Humpty Dumplings is a small shop that specializes in different flavored fried dumplings, they also have noodles and salads but they are more like the supporting actress in the screen play! The dumplings are where it's at and they come in multiple yummy flavors. I decided to get the cheesesteak, buffalo chicken, breakfast dumpling and the blueberry cheesecake. My favorites were the blueberry cheesecake and the cheesesteak! The prices are reasonable, I came on a Wednesday so they were each a dollar, however you can get 5 dumplings for like 7.00 on any other day. If your every nearby and feel like indulging in some deep fried goodness, check out humpty dumplings, then apologize to your heart later lol!

Thayer H.

Yelp
great dumplings! had some at the Irish festival in wildwood and they were very good.
google avatar

Eboni F.

Yelp
The cheesesteak dumplings are simply devine! The roast pork was just okay to me. I also got the deconstructed chicken pot pie, it was 3 stars by itself. If they had put the crust on top that might have been a gamechanger. I would definitely order the cheesesteak dumplings again though :)
google avatar

Cynthia F.

Yelp
I was very excited to try this place. I have been hearing great things about the dumplings. I must say that the dumplings were delicious however one was missing. Also my two dipping sauces were also missing. The noodles however were mediocre. I would not order those again. If your thinking of trying this place I highly recommend sticking with the dumplings. I feel obligated to note that I ordered through Grubhub so I can't say if the missing dumpling and dipping sauces was the delivery guys doing or the restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
Had Humpty's Dumplings at the Christmas Village in Philly. They had a booth set up which was a nice option from the other foods available. They are around fried balls stuffed with different fillings. We ordered six dumplings for $12. We got two of the fried apple, honey chipotle chicken, and the loaded potato with bacon. We had to wait a few minutes as they were making a fresh batch of fried apple. All the varieties that we got were very good. There was a good amount of filling in each of the dumplings. Yes, they are fried. Fried. But they don't feel overly fried. The fried apple was a nice little dessert. Have seen their food truck around at different breweries. Definitely will try them again
google avatar

Paul W.

Yelp
Quick, satisfying, and the to-go options are clutch. Some good vegetarian options, and a nice space to dine in, if you're in the mood.
google avatar

Dwight T.

Yelp
Overly oily. I bit too fatty for my taste. Try something more healthy, Good luck with the taste and oil.

Kylie M.

Yelp
Foods good nothing much to complain abt it but it is very very expensive it's like a 1.20 for each dumpling
google avatar

Yelp
Expectations are everything and I had verrry high expectations for Humpty Dumplings and I'm sad to say that I was disappointed. The location in Glenside is right by the Keswick Theatre, so it is in a prime spot if you are looking to go somewhere quick before a show, which is what we did, but with that being said the food was just okay. First off - they are not dumplings. I was expecting the asian type soft outside dumplings filled with tasty and unique things, such as buffalo chicken, edamame, thanksgiving flavored, etc. Instead, these so-called 'dumplings' are basically just fried balls, similar to mac and cheese bites you would get at the Cheesecake Factory. I also didn't like that you HAD to order 5 at a time...dude, what if I only wanted one or two, which I did. Let me pay for what I want!!! It's 2017, you should know this by now - options and a la carte is EVERYTHING! In addition to the dumplings not being dumplings, I also tried the chicken pot pie noodles! I should've honestly just gotten that because it was pretty good. What I didn't like, however, was that there were ZERO vegetarian options for noodles. I'm not a veg, but I think that is super inconsiderate. Like I just said - hello it is 2017, give the people what they want. This is also a grab and go. Order at the counter, take a number, they bring it to you. That being said it's way too pricey here for that type of meal. It's also BYOB, but it took them 15 minutes to find a wine opener and we had to drink out of solo cups. The place is also very small and the line got out the door and you could hardly walk to get to the bathroom. I think I'm also this salty because the woman at the counter was so unfriendly and rude and that started off my whole experience with a bad taste in my mouth. I'm honestly bummed cause they did just open a location in Philly, but I probably won't be back. :(

Yelp
Just tried the cheesesteak dumplings at parents day at Arcadia U. Outstanding! Wife also liked the chicken chipotle. Will have to go to the restaurant for the pork. Heard they were really good too
google avatar

Amy E.

Yelp
Food was great but the staff not so much. Definitely moody. Didn't seem to want to be there & were pretty rude. Idk if I would come back on the strength of the staff, but ehh we will see.
google avatar

Liz N.

Yelp
Order cheesesteak dumplings and it was weird it's like they changed it from the first time I was here and loved it and then tried it again and wasn't happy at all they changed the ingredients I think oh well no more for me I and I won't be back
google avatar

Nan G.

Yelp
What a great treat! Friendly staff, nice variety to choose from and very quick!

Yelp
We had always talked about trying this place but never did before tonight. Our thought was the dumplings were going to be greasy. COULD NOT have been more wrong. They weren't greasy at all just awesome. Our favorite was the Taco but the Chipotle Chicken was close. We will be back. They also sell them frozen so you can make them at home. We will try this next. If you're in the mood for something different and have t tried Humpty's Dumplings 100% do it.
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
Thank you for having a vegan menu item! The vegan mac n cheese dumpling is great. Their menu describes the cheese sauce to be made of "nutritional yeast, potato, and carrot" so don't expect it to taste like vegan companies' cheese products. I got to try all the sauces on my dumplings and I like to use the BBQ sauce the most. I'm a big fan of hot sauce so I really enjoyed their hot sauce that they had out -- pure heat, no vinegar taste.

Yelp
Great little place to check out for noodles or dumplings! Place is on the smaller side. There are benches outside along the Main Street to sit as well. Dumplings are only sold in groups of 5 unless you head over on Wednesday when they have $1 dumplings. Typically you can not mix Sweet and savory but the counter guy was feeling friendly and allowed me to do so. My friend and I ordered a cheesesteak noodles and a 5 pack of dumplings. Taco, buffalo chicken, cheesesteak, apple pie and cheesecake. There are sauces on the table are great for dipping. As a condiment lover, enjoyed them greatly! The dumplings were packed with flavor. The cheesesteak was my favorite savory And the cheesecake my favorite sweet. Apparently cheese is the key to my happiness! I might have ordered another if they available individually. The noodles were fresh. Ramen style but fancier. They were tossed in a white super gooey delicious cheese sauce with large pieces of cheesesteak and perfectly cut scallions. Looking forward to hearing back to try some more. Hopefully my next trip will be on a Wednesday where you can buy as many or as few as you would like!

Yelp
Dumpling Jackpot!!! Location: In a cute little town with ample parking right behind the restaurant. You do have to pay to park, it literally cost us fifty cents. Atmosphere: Absolutely like another reviewer said, it's the front of a food truck. Don't expect fine dining... duh. You go in, order, and then grab a seat... they'll bring your food out to you. Seems like most people take to go though. Food: Wowza! I love dumplings, and I love when there's an American twist on things. We ordered pretty much one of all the dumplings and then also got the buffalo chicken lo mein bowl. 10/10!!! The pork dumpling was my favorite and it was also my husband's. Plus the dumpling sauce was delicious. I also really enjoyed the broccoli cheddar and cheesesteak, but he had buffalo chicken as his second place. The bowl was so yummy! Would order again for sure. Not as spicy as the dumpling was. Overall: What are you waiting for?!?!

Yelp
I've been going to Humpty's Dumplings since they opened but was even more impressed with the catering experience I had! They were very responsive and accommodating through the whole process and I would recommend them for any event. Not to mention, there were no leftovers because they were amazing!
