Expectations are everything and I had verrry high expectations for Humpty Dumplings and I'm sad to say that I was disappointed. The location in Glenside is right by the Keswick Theatre, so it is in a prime spot if you are looking to go somewhere quick before a show, which is what we did, but with that being said the food was just okay.
First off - they are not dumplings. I was expecting the asian type soft outside dumplings filled with tasty and unique things, such as buffalo chicken, edamame, thanksgiving flavored, etc. Instead, these so-called 'dumplings' are basically just fried balls, similar to mac and cheese bites you would get at the Cheesecake Factory. I also didn't like that you HAD to order 5 at a time...dude, what if I only wanted one or two, which I did. Let me pay for what I want!!! It's 2017, you should know this by now - options and a la carte is EVERYTHING!
In addition to the dumplings not being dumplings, I also tried the chicken pot pie noodles! I should've honestly just gotten that because it was pretty good. What I didn't like, however, was that there were ZERO vegetarian options for noodles. I'm not a veg, but I think that is super inconsiderate. Like I just said - hello it is 2017, give the people what they want.
This is also a grab and go. Order at the counter, take a number, they bring it to you. That being said it's way too pricey here for that type of meal. It's also BYOB, but it took them 15 minutes to find a wine opener and we had to drink out of solo cups. The place is also very small and the line got out the door and you could hardly walk to get to the bathroom.
I think I'm also this salty because the woman at the counter was so unfriendly and rude and that started off my whole experience with a bad taste in my mouth.
I'm honestly bummed cause they did just open a location in Philly, but I probably won't be back. :(
