I really enjoyed my visit to Hunan Bistro. The ambiance was beautiful—loved the decorations and furniture. We ordered General Tso’s Chicken, and it wasn’t overly sweet like at most places. The Eggplant in Garlic Chili Sauce was superb. We also got the House Special Fried Rice. It was simple but so tasty. This will be my go-to spot for good fried rice from now on! The staff were also very friendly and attentive. Great experience overall!

This place just open a month ago and I was totally surprised that the food was pretty good! The portions are huge especially the fried rice! The wait staff were very friendly and pleasant! We were there around 5 pm and too busy but by the time we left, the place was pack! We had the following: Salt and Pepper Shrimp (cooked perfectly with awesome spices) Spicy Dry-Pot Beef (spicy and very favorable) Eggplant with chili garlic sauce (great flavor and eggplant was very tender) Sautéed celery with dried Tofu (the tofu pieces were kinda hard and wasn't enough celery) Pork Fried Rice (the pork was very tasty and the rice was perfect texture) Beef Noodle stew with Soybean Sauce (the noodles were cooked perfectly, not too soft, great soup too) Very nice place to hang out with friends! If you're in the Rochester area, you need to try this place!

Great food. Great serving a very pleasing atmosphere. We had the private room, so I cannot comment on the standard dining room experience. Staff was attentive, they were quick to take our orders and answer questions. The food was received in a timely manner...even for a dinner party size of 11. I would go back.

Good chinese food is hard to come by. The food has great balance and was not too salty or, in most cases, too sugary. We ordered Pork Fried Rice, Spicy dry pot Pork Intestine, Eggplant with chili garlic sauce, and Chongqin Spicy Chicken. Everything came out fast and hot. Every dish had its own unique flavor and portion are right on with the prices. Will definitely be making stops here when in Rochester. If you are a visual menu ordering person, some of the dishes do not look like the pictures on the menu.

This was my first time here. We got several dishes: pepper steak, beef chow fun, 10 flavor ribs, Japanese tofu, and scallion pancakes. The dishes were delicious 10 out of 10. Our favorite was the beef chow fun. It was so good that we got a second plate.

I had the privilege of being the very first customer to dine in at Hunan Bistro on their grand opening day, and what an unforgettable experience it was! I ordered the pepper steak lunch special, which came with two pieces of chicken, a crab rangoon, and a soup of my choice—all for an unbelievable price of just $12. I also treated myself to an egg roll as an extra appetizer, and it turned out to be the perfect addition. Not only was the food bursting with flavor, but the interior decoration was absolutely stunning—it created a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere. The menu is thoughtfully designed, with plenty of pictures showcasing the variety of delicious dishes available, making it easy to explore new options. It's clear that Hunan Bistro takes pride in their food, presentation, and ambiance. For anyone in search of a delightful dining experience at a great value, this is the spot to try. I can't wait to return and discover more of their menu. Highly recommended!

I am writing to share my positive experience at Hunan Bistro. I particularly enjoyed the finely made eggplant dish. Additionally, the pork rib specialty dish was excellent and had a satisfying tangy flavor. The staff were very friendly and accommodating! I highly recommend Hunan Bistro and look forward to dining there again soon!

We were here on Sunday, 8/31/25 - wasn't terribly busy at all. First impression was that the restaurant was really handsome and clean, and they greeted us as soon as we arrived. Our server was at the table shortly after we were seated, and our sodas and rangoons were on the way! The rangoons were piping hot, loaded with filling, and served with hot mustard and sweet and sour - and they were delicious! We got Ta Chin Chicken and General Tso's Chicken, and an order of Yangzhou Fried rice. The food was plentiful, perfectly prepared, loaded with flavor, and arrived very quickly! We saw our server exactly enough - drinks stayed full, and plates arrived and went away when they were supposed to, but we weren't hurried or interrupted - it was a nice, leisurely meal, and we really enjoyed ourselves! We will absolutely be back - this will no doubt become our go-to Chinese choice when we're in Rochester!

Have only ordered take out. Experience has been wonderful. Online ordering system is easy. Food is prepared fast. Requests are honored. Had asked for hot mustard and chili oil on the side. They gave me a huge portion of each! The staff is always friendly and prompt at the front desk. The food is solid Chinese cuisine. I love chow fun and it can be a challenge to find places that serve the broad flat rice noodles. Here, it's perfect. Beef and broccoli was a huge portion and reasonably priced. The chili oil was a must, and was so glad they provided it. I have also had several vegetable dishes which were good. Veggies weren't overcooked. Sauces were a little watered down but that's likely from the vegetables as they released water. Overall, this is my go to restaurant for quick, solid and consistent take out food. Highly recommend!

Best house fried rice in town hands down!! And loaded with meat and several shrimp. Very clean and great atomosphere. Chicken lo mein also good!

Waited over 20 min for anyone to come to our table. Once a waiter arrived he said, "I'm checking on you... do you need anything?" We said "we have waited for 20 min for water...perhaps? And no one has taken our order". He brought us water and walked away. We waited another 6 min. And then got up and left. WORST SERVICE EVER! Too bad. We are link g forward to good food, but never got to try it.

Was looking for a place for a quick dinner after a business meeting in Rochester and I came across this chinese restaurant. The place well decorated with traditional Chinese decor and painting and contributed to a favorable ambience. I ordered a spicy Beef Noodle soup with a stir fry vegetable dish. Both entrees were good. The beef noodle was really spicy but truly authentic.

Excited to have some Hunan-style dishes in town. Staff was really attentive, space is situated in the heart of Miracle Mile, and a menu that leaves you asking for me. We came during the first week of opening, and ordered all the suggested dishes. Overall impression was it was solid. Many dishes were a bit salty which doesn't help with the already favorable punch. Look forward to re-visiting and trying other dishes

I always go to Sushi places, but they closed for July 4th so I give this place a try. Disappointed for the following reasons: Ordered ribs. The sauce flavor was fine (sweet and sour plus some garlic taste), but the meat quality was terrible. Not really rib, but meat scraps. Size was not matching the price they charged. I swear you are able to find something better at Rochester with this price. Fried rice had no flavor either. Atmosphere looked good, and waitress was polite, but I definitely do not plan on another visit. Going back to my sushi places.

Hunan Bistro has saved me as I'm always craving Szechuan food since I moved here. Although they serve a lot of the Americanized Chinese food that I think serves well for the city's demographic, they also have great Szechuan staples. A few of my favorites: Szechuan poached fish, cumin lamb, and eggplant with chili garlic sauce. I think anything on their chef's special list is amazing. The portions are huge, and we always have leftovers for another meal. The staff is always so great and attentive. They also have a great lunch special. One of me and my husbands fav places in Rochester.

Great selection of the core Chinese dishes including pork chops and potatoes in a great garlic sauce, an amazing soup that hit the spot, shrimp, egg tofu fried with vegetables and wood ear mushrooms, sweet and sour fish, beef chow fun, and more. Food wasn't too salty and has good variety. Service - Food came out quite quick. Highly recommend getting their coconut drink to sip on while waiting and chatting. They Ambiance - modern with East Asian influences in the art style and seating. Definitely the closest one can get to authentic Chinese cuisine here in Rochester without having to go up to the Twin Cities. Hope it stays around!! Definitely will be back.

I wanted to try this so bad. It was well worth it. I had the best waitress ever. She was so polite, kind and well worth the tip. Brianna. She is so worth the wait to sit in her section. I loved her kindness and help finding the best tasting dishes.

Great ambiance and food. They have a huge front room and table that seats 13. The food was great, but we didn't do spicy. Our favorite was the smashed cucumber salad. The fish dishes looked good.

Friendly service in a nicely decorated space. The lunch specials were plenty of food at a great price.

This place is great- very fresh, authentic and delicious. We had the Hunan chicken and the Szechuan chicken with egg rolls. Service was outstanding. Beautiful decor and very clean. We will be back!

Excellent menu with some unique dishes. We absolutely loved what we ordered- Fragrant vegetables and Mongolian beef with dumplings and ragoons. Atmosphere is very nice and the booths are nice to have quieter spot. We are coming back. So much to try. For sure want to try the greens beans and pork, scallion pancakes and Japanese tofu. This will be on our frequent rotation!

Our new favorite restaurant! We had it to go, so hot and delicious. Amazing flavors, like the old days. Coming back for sure over and over again.

As a mainland Chinese, this Chinese restaurant is very authentic. Golden fried buns dipped in condensed milk are a snack I often eat in China, and the beef noodles have a very strong flavor.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. My wife loved their chicken with vegetables dish. I asked for extra hot version of their hunan beef dish, and got it. It was excellent. We both enjoyed the fried rice. 2 minutes from our hotel. Food was reasonably priced, and was delivered quickly. Solid five stars.

Everything was excellent for my family that eats Asian cooking quite regularly. The vegetables were not overcooked and the heat level was as expected. Service was very attentive and the environment was conversation friendly. Will certainly be back the next time I am in the Rochester area.

The ambiance is comfortable and well done without being tacky. The service was friendly and prompt, but the highlight is the excellent food at great prices. Check out the lunch specials served seven days a week, and the dinner menu looks just as good.

My wife and I like Chinese food, so we decided to try this one shortly after we heard they had opened. We came for lunch and I had the Mongolian Beef with fried rice and egg drop soup. She had the shrimp and assorted vegetables with fried rice and hot & sour soup. She commented that her soup was very good! I liked the egg drop, but I have had better egg drop soup. We both liked our meals! I thought the Mongolian beef was the best I have had in Rochester. My wife commented that her meal had a lot of shrimp in it. The decor is very nice. The price was reasonable. I would certainly recommend it!

This place was an amazing experience for me and my family. The short ribs are exquisite, and I will be coming back again soon
