Hunan Egg Roll King is actually pretty good. I ordered the small sesame chicken (came with white rice) and pot stickers. The chicken was everything you'd expect and had a good flavor. Nothing to complain about, and I'd definitely order it again. The pot stickers were great as well, and larger than I expected. Overall, I can see why this place has good reviews, and I'll definitely keep coming back.

Overall great spot for Chinese food. Carry-out is really fast. Amazing crab ragoon as well as the egg rolls!

The Beef Chow Mein was tasty but came with a small amount of little noodles that were fried. I think more detailed descriptions & pictures of their offerings online would’ve made this situation avoidable, as I’ve typically had to request for the noodles to be fried and the default is fresh noodles

They are super fast and friendly. Good food and not a bad price, recommend!

You get what you pay for. This isn't high quality Chinese food. It's a bunch of food for a pretty cheap price. It's fine, considering that. Rice is hard and old.

Stopped by one evening and it was so good! The food was made within 10 minutes and everything was fresh and hot. I wish my dish had more veggies but the spicy garlic pork was still delicious and flavorful. The egg rolls are nice and crispy with ample filling and flavor! They have a great meal deal for only $15 which includes and entree (plus rice), egg rolls, and drink. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quick and tasty bite, fast service, and laidback ambiance.

Best egg rolls in the area. Hands down. The other food is decent, too. Reasonably priced, quick for pickup, no frills. Fast service. Truly, just get the egg rolls. Trust me and don't ask questions. Bomb.

One of the best shrimp and broccoli you will ever taste is from mom in the kitchen hands. This restaurant is my favorite place to eat whenever I feel for delicious Chinese takeout. Their service is pretty quick too, I've ordered, and had my food delivered and they never keep me waiting for long. This is a take out spot even though I stop in to eat every now and then because just I like my food fresh off the stove. The ambiance is pretty much a mom and pops traditional take out look and feel. However, there is more to this restaurant than the looks, the people here are good people and they make delicious food so stop by and check them out if you're in the neighborhood. Oh and get you a side of chicken wings, they are amazing!

I ordered for the first time tonight as I was craving a solid egg roll and they offer a vegetarian version. Ordering was seamless and delivered within 30 minutes. I got the sweet and sour shrimp and really appreciated that they put the fried shrimp in a sealed container with part of the plastic cut out so they wouldn't get mushy. Hello??? Thank you so much for that thoughtfulness! 4 stars because the sweet & sour sauce only had a few pieces of green pepper, tomato & pineapple. The small portion will be 2 meals so I wish there would have been more. Egg rolls were good! I will definitely be ordering again.

They delivered timely. Food is tasty. The order was incorrect. I called and they immediately remedied the order. 5 star service. Good Chinese food options when ordering take out. I ordered the chicken lonmein, egg rolls, fried rice chicken and orange chicken. Orange chicken was a bit watery but maybe that's from the condensation but otherwise I was pleased. Thank you!

We were in the mood for Americanized Chinese and so picked up carry out from here. First of all, the phone # on Yelp is incorrect- look it up on Google! Anyway, everything else was fine. The egg rolls were very good. A little mushy inside but tasty and crispy. Pork fried rice was wonderful. Pork lo Mein was very good. Husband liked the pork egg foo young a lot. Portions were huge- husband and I ate it the first night and then we shared with our daughter and son in law the next night and there was plenty for all. Total price was about $45 for a boatload of food. Only issue is that they use a lot of onions which were in large pieces. This will be our go to when we have a craving for this type of food!

I stopped off here on the way home the other day and picked up some Chinese food for dinner. This is a very tiny Ma & Pa restaurant. I called in the order as I was driving and was told it would be about 15 minutes. When I got there a young girl and I assume number one son were at the front counter. The girl seemed kind of shy and remained seated behind the counter with her head down. Number One Son was totally immersed in a tv program. He looked up long enough to tell me it was almost ready and went back to his tv show. It looked like Ma & Pa were in the back cooking dishes to go. I ordered 3 dishes hot and sour soup (way too much corn starch creating a gelatinous blob of soup. Shrimp egg foo young once again way too much corn starch creating a gelatinous gravy. I've been cutting my meat intake so I thought I would try the Mongolian chicken in lieu of the beef. Doesn't Mongolian Beef come with noodles? This Mongolian Chicken didn't have any. The food wasn't very good. I won't be going back anytime soon.

My favorite hangover dinner. Is this top notch, definitely not, but man does it hit the spot when you want some greasy Chinese food. I absolutely love the doughie dumplings and this place has the absolute best. Cheap, reliable, and quick delivery!

Hands down still the absolute best chicken noodle or chicken rice soup in the city! Soups here across the board are excellent.

Not the king of egg rolls. Sorry, but I would not recommend this place and my husband has a Mongolian beef and I had sesame chicken. Nothing I would order again.

This place was recommended to me by my sister. She told me that they have the best eggfooyoungin the city. I've tried several times to come here but something would always happen. I went tonight and had the shrimp egg foo yong which was dynamite. I also love hot, sour soup but it's always not hot enough or not sour enough. This is perfect. This restaurant is mostly a takeout and delivery place. We decided to dine in. I am definitely going to order again, even though it's not near my neighborhood I'll pay the extra delivery fee. This place is worthy of the extra delivery fee.

Egg rolls were just okay. Crispy wrapper at least. Filling pretty blah. Packaged duck sauce bland. Shocked to see no steamed version of potstickers available. Tried to order 2 orders of the fried pork ones (the only version on the menu). Website confusing I ended up with three orders on my order oh, no way to go back and edit it that I could see. So I just let it go figuring how bad can potstickers be. Well, I found out. Worst potsticker I've ever had. The Noodle wrapper was super thick and rubbery, I couldn't believe it. I even weighed the dough versus the filling - wrappers mostly weighed 2.5 ounces versus 1/2 ounce of filling. And BTW, I feeling looked and tasted a little like canned dog food. Not a vegetable in sight. Sauce was bitter and otherwise tasteless. If you love potstickers, don't order these. I will never order from here again.

So good. Love the veggie egg rolls and the prices are super affordable. Delivery is always prompt and the food is piping hot.

I had a very good experience here. The woman who helped me was able to make a vegetarian version of the soups (they usually have chicken broth) and tailor it to my selected ingredients. It was invented on the spot but it was very good! The chicken has a nice hearty flavor, it tastes fresh and not too much salt. Not too much corn starch in the sauces. Good recipes :) The egg rolls are what you would expect. Egg rolls are always great.

This place is amazing! Fresh and delicious food! Efficient take out service. I love ALL the dinner specials! You will be set fir the night plus some left over for the next day. Just an FYI you have to order through the restaurant directly not through this Yelp App.

Don't let the high rating fool you. REALLY not good. I got General Tso's Chicken and my partner got Mongolian Beef. The beef was really bland and the chicken tasted sort of like biting into your grandma's couch. You have been warned!

Best overall Chinese food, price, portions, deal and flavor!! BBQ pork appetizer was tender! Sometimes you can get more burnt edges than meat, not at Hunan Egg Roll King! I'm a big fan of the orange chicken. It is a little bit of spicy and sweetness. The lunch special was $8 and change for egg roll, rice, entree and a can of pop!! You don't see that too often in Chicago (anymore.)

Trusting other yelp reviewers, I tried this place out on a Friday night about two weeks ago. I ordered a chicken fried rice and the general tso chicken with two egg rolls. While the food was good, it was not great. So much so that I had to force myself to eat it the last two days.

Ordered here through Grubhub on a weekday evening. The food came pretty quickly. Ordered the chicken wings appetizer, egg rolls, chicken fried rice and the orange chicken. The chicken wings were great. They were fried and seasoned perfectly. The egg rolls were just okay. The orange chicken was good. Not too breaded and not too sweet. The chicken fried rice was different. It wasn't typical Chinese fried rice. The chicken and onions were diced, and the seasoning was yellow in color and it tasted a little bland. Will order the chicken wings and orange chicken again. And possibly next time try the beef dishes.

Maybe I just came here on an off day, but I have to say for a place with "egg roll king" in the name, I'm anticipating an amazing egg roll. From the outside the egg roll looked amazing, but inside was another story. The filling was a mix of something and had a consistency similar to mashed potatoes. Almost as if it was a dumpling filling that didn't get cooked long enough. The egg drop soup and entree were okay, but the "fried rice" again seemed off with a strangely dark color and little taste

This place is great! It may be the best pork fried rice that I have ever had! Lots of meat and very flavorful. The sesame chicken and General Tsos chicken are also great. The General Tsos has a slight kick and that really makes the dish. They forgot our eggrolls in our take out order yesterday and we didn't notice until we got home. I called them up and the woman who answered the phone was so apologetic and delivered them to us within 15 minutes! Talk about great customer service! The only downside (which they have no control over) is there is very little parking on the street near them, so if you get take out and have a car it may be tricky to find a place to park while you run in.

My first experience of my visit to the restaurant was fantastic ! My friends and I ordered our favorites of the menu and EVERY dish was delicious. The staff was extremely friendly and had a vast knowledge of the ingredients in each dish. This restaurant has been in business for years and I now understand why. Great food. Great prices and a fantastic staff. I will be a repeat customer for sure.

This is my 3rd Chinese restaurant since moving to Chicago and it's another disappointment. Kept it safe and ordered the Sesame Chicken with Fried rice and fried dumplings. The Egg Roll was the best thing I ate. The rice smelt and tasted burnt and the dumplings were burnt as well.

Nasty. Disgusting waste of money. Orange chicken had this sickly sweet taste behind it Rice was disgusting. Crab Rangoon was clumpy pieces of cream cheese

Cantonese chicken was such an insult. The chicken they used was not fresh and definitely spoiled. My noodles were burnt??? It's as if someone boiled a bunch of ramen and then burnt it on a pan.

My favorite Chinese food restaurant in the city. Great egg rolls and my favorite is the shrimp fried rice.

Delicious! They make tofu Cantonese style for me by request, with the pan fried noodles. The seaweed soup, loaded with shrimp and vegetables is delicious. Everything I've tried there is yummy.

Rude front desk person. I suggested to the manager he gave a conversation with the front desk person (his sister). She is a teenager according to the manager. Say hi to customers. I suggest you find somewhere else for Chinese.

Yum!!! Food is very good and great size portions. Ordered the Triple delight (excellent), orange chicken (excellent) and the sesame chicken (ehhhh, would nit get it again, way too sweet), hot and sour soup (I'd give it a 6.5-7 out of 10), egg rolls (excellent). Service is good over the phone and in person during pick up. Will 100% go back, this is my new Chinese spot!

I wouldn't know great Chinese food from good Chinese food, but I certainly know bad Chinese food. Hunan Egg Roll King is good food but doesn't excel much more than most of the other fast food places I've tried. It's a hole-in-the-wall place; blink & you'll miss it along the tiny storefronts along that stretch of Broadway. They were friendly, and the food was tasty. The pot stickers were not the best. I asked for fried, but only one had the golden brown crispiness that you'd expect. The rest were steamed. The egg rolls were perfect. The Ma Pow Tofu was bland; why does every Chinese place over saturate the tofu with too much sauce? The best tofu is firm and sauteed before adding to the gunky brown sauce. The tofu cubes here were a little soggy. A clean and tidy, family-run restaurant serving up delicious Chinese food.

So good! Our go-to Chinese spot. Egg rolls just the way you want them. I usually order the shrimp and vegetables or triple delight. Both are consistently delicious. Husband always gets Kung pao or hunan beef- also great.

Not impressed. I ordered delivery, orange chicken, cream cheese wontons and egg rolls. The flavors were so bland. The orange chicken had no orange in it at all I swear. It's a bland, beige plate of food. The sweet and sour sauce they sent along with it had a funky taste to it as well. Just look for other options out there I would.

I had walked by this place a few times before ordering from here. The order process was simple and my food was done exactly when it said it would be there when I arrived to pick it up. The staff was friendly and helpful in making sure my order was complete. When I got home all my food was delicious and hot. The portions were huge and I had more than enough for lunch the next day. Will definitely be a returning customer.

A sweet, sweet older couple seems to run the place and are always super grateful for your patronage! Great food, good prices, and willing to accommodate special asks. Love living so close to Hunan (although it can be a tad dangerous!)--I order out two to three times a month.
