Hunan Garden Chinese Restaurant

Had high hopes but the few dishes we ordered were very much like affordable but unremarkable Chinese takeout. The business is set up very odd on the inside which makes it look like they are closing. My wife liked her noodles but both of the chicken dishes were soggy and the black pepper chicken was not very flavorful. This being said I did finish my dinner and I can't say it was bad but the prob could have been larger. Might be a good spot for quick check takeout in your area

Clean jumbo SHRIMP!! Delicious. Nothing fancy about the building… but the Food! Wow. Better than the high $$ spots . I had shrimp with Chinese veggies. All were Fresh and cooked in the Wok perfectly! Oh and the hot n sour soup was good too!

First time customer here and omg. The food is absolutely delish. Mongolian beef is so spot on. The crab rangoon is to die for. I love Chinese food and this is by far one of the best places. It is a hole in the wall type place so not to busy but definitely worth the drive to get it. Ive lived and been to multiple different states and this is by far the best. So if your in the mood for Chinese I highly recommend this place. And the staff is amazing and friendly.

Just ordered from there the lady hung up on me and they serves me old food I'm a loyal customer and the lady hung up on me for making a complaint rude and unprofessional don't eat here they give u hard old food that taste bad

The sesame chicken was good but the rice had that old, rancid, musty flavor that grain and oil products can get. 4 stars otherwise.

Not bad! I think they rushed my order though. The chicken isn't as seasoned as it normally would be, so it's kind of bland. I've noticed that when it's late they tend to rush with the food, so that's disappointing. Overall though, it's a solid restaurant.

Service was quick - waited about 10 minutes for a takeout order - but call aheads were even faster. Lunch menu is a great deal for a hefty portion. Not sure I would want to eat inside as it was not super clean and pretty dingy. Food was mediocre - orange chicken, general tsos chicken, and fried rice not super flavorful or anything to write home about, but decent enough. Egg rolls were pretty solid though, and hot and sour soup not to my taste. Not my go to place for Chinese.

The food has ALWAYS been fresh; I've placed large orders from here several times. The service is nice. They are always cordial. The ambiance is nonexistent. The inside is clean and quiet. But it looks more like a school cafeteria.

Went to this spot to get some egg drop soup.... Covid 19 has really done a change on many, many restaurants... The order was quick and on point... The Drop soup was soooo good, and the honey chicken/fried rice will be dinner....

If you are looking for Americanized Chinese food, then this place is probably fine. If you are looking for authentic flavors and foods, you will have to go elsewhere. It was very run of the mill, average food, like Panda Express. While inexpensive and fairly quick, having lived in Shanghai for 3 years, I had higher hopes. The pepper chicken was ok, the sweet and sour pork was just balls of dough in a sauce that was way too sweet. The hot and sour soup was average. Overall very "meh", kind of a disappointment. Food was flavorful. Service prompt. Order was ready when promised. Quantity of food was unbelievable. Will go back!

I'm only in town for the night so ordered food to take back to the hotel. I ordered the Family Dinner for Two deal. $14.99 and pick two combos. I got the House Egg Foo Yong with pork fried rice and the Generals Chicken with pork fried rice. Seriously, the best Chinese food I've had in many years. Really really good food and huge portions. Sorry no photo of the eggs but both of the foam boxes were stuffed as full as possible. Very pleasantly surprised. Even the roasted pork fried rice was amazing. My only regret is having so much left over and no way to get it home.

In a hotel for a few nights, from texas. Was craving chinese and read some reviews and decided to go for it. Got the black pepper chicken, honey chicken and lo mein. WOW. So good. Was still hot from doordash. Honey chicken probably one of the bests ive had. 5/5!

Great FRIENDLY service. Food is always hot and fresh. Did I mention how FRIENDLY they are? House special rice is Very good. Party trays are great for the office.

We needed good food and like to stay away from the chains. We ate it in the car because there was no indoor seating.

Ok, let me start out with my fried rice is yellow with white onions? It's good although I'm a bit surprised at the presentation. The sweet n sour pork is served separate from the sauce and there are no veggies just chicken and sauce. My husband had triple szechawan delight which are prawns, chicken and beef with steamed rice. My daughter had sweet n sour shrimp and orange chicken. All in all everything was good it wasn't presented in the way we do in California. I can definitely recommend this place

Hands down the best orange chicken I have ever had! The szechuan chicken and general tso's chicken were both great too. Even the egg roll was amazing. This was my first visit to this restaurant but most definitely not my last. The chef was also very friendly and checked to see if we liked our food. Never would I have imagined counter service as being my favorite Chinese restaurant, but if my next visit is as good as this one, this restaurant will be just that.

Just moved to Montgomery from ATL. This was our first time ordering from this place and found it to be extremely good. We ordered Shrimp Rolls, Shrimp Fried Rice, and Shrimp Lo Mein. Much better than where we came from. Definitely will be our go to Chinese place.

Love this hidden gem. They give you SO MUCH food for a very reasonable price. The customer service is amazing!!!

In town for a job and had a craving for Chinese food. I got the chicken rice soup and the Szechuan Triple Delight. Both were delicious and very reasonably priced. Only draw back is no delivery. Other than that, I couldn't of been happier with my experience.

I would give it between a 2 and 3. Lets start with good and move to what I see could be improved. My wife had General Tso, very tasty chicken all the meat was tender. I had a classic pork egg foo young, cooked perfectly. Know for my detractors we also order crab Rangoon and the batter was great and cooked great but their was next to NO filling inside, very disappointing. The gravy for the egg foo young was tasty but very thin and watery. Our pork fried rice had a burn flavor (like smoked, good for meat but not Chinese rice) and the last item the egg roles had a extra salty bite to them. Overall we may give this place a try again to confirm or improve.

This was first time going there about a month ago. The inside is okay. It could stand a makeover some. The food is pretty good. Don't taste that salty and don't have a lot of oil in their food which is good. Friendly people. Been going ever since.

By far the best Chinese restaurant in Montgomery. Customer service is stellar, the cashiers are very polite. The food is always freshly prepared and steaming hot. I always come here on my cheat days.

First time here but it won't be my last. The food was delicious, prepared correctly and on time. Service was also very hospitable. They were low on wonton noodles so they gave me a discounted price, which they didn't have to do as I wasn't going to count the noodles. I'm so full now that I had to take my pants off.

The worst Chinese I have ever eaten! Hands down! Awful. Waste of money. Hot & Sour soup was terrible! The Orange Chicken was terrible. Have no idea what that was..but did not look or taste like chickenThe spring rolls were just mushy. Had to throw it all away! Look further if you want good Chinese. This is not it!

Been going here for two years now and the food has always been delicious, until last night. I don't know if there are new owners or what, but the quality of the food is markedly different.

All of the food was good quality and tasted good. It was a menu that is pretty comparable to other Chinese Restaurants. It was not overly expensive.

I don't like Chinese food normally but this place is great. My husband and I just moved here and couldn't figure out where to eat. We saw this place and I suggested it even though I didn't think I would enjoy it. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was so delicious! I had the general Tso's shrimp. The restaurant is very clean and the staff was super nice. Highly recommend for good Chinese food.

I ordered the Szechuan Beef and Kung Pao chicken to go. It took about 15 minutes for my order to be prepared. Both dishes were very good and the egg rolls were fantastic. Everything tasted fresh and it was not greasy and no MSG. This will definitely be my go to place when I want some Oriental/Chinese takeout food.

We went there for the first time last night. The food was so good and fresh. I had the snow peas and chicken. The sauce was nicely seasoned and the snow peas were crispy and cooked perfectly. You could tell the vegetables were fresh and not frozen. The egg rolls are awesome and are almost a meal in themselves. I haven't had Chinese food this good in a while. My husband liked the sweet and sour chicken but didn't like the special fried rice. Their health rating is 92 and the whole place is clean, including the bathrooms. Overall a great experience.

This is my new favorite Chinese food! The restaurant is very clean and the food is fantastic!!! Trust me, I eat a lot of Asian food. Some of my favs are the chicken broccoli, crab Rangoon and any of the mei fun noodles!!!

This is the cleanest Chinese restaurant I've ever seen. It is new and the food is excellent. The owners are very friendly and are very sociable.

Hunan Garden is absolutely fantastic! Go for their lunch buffet for affordable, fresh Asian cuisine. Friendly staff are always happy to see you. This is my first review of this restaurant, but my fourth lunch here. I will be back again!!

If you are looking for quality over quantity, Hunan's lunch buffet for you. The buffet consists of about 15 items. They place smaller quantities on the buffet, thus the food is fresher than most Chinese buffets. Also you cannot beat the price.

This is a truly fantastic restaurant and phenomenal for take out. They are consistently the best Chinese take out in Montgomery and the owners care for their customers. The food is exceptional and always made wonderfully. I have ordered take-out now 8+ times over the past 4-5 months and it is always amazing and delicious. Huge portion size, great prices.

Ate at dinner time. They cooked our meals to order. Great fresh taste and good service from this family business. Food volume was so large we took enough home for at least another meal.

We are from out of town and we're on our way home from Alabama football game and Google Drive good Chinese food couple different ones came up but we went with the closest Hunan Garden and it was absolutely the best. fresh food cooked to order. it was good to the palate couldn't have asked for more and the portions were huge actually order some extra to take back to Florida. will be back next time we are in town.

It was an ok experience. It was clean, but why a 92 on their health rating. I forgot to read why. The food was ok, but I like Top China's food better I give this 3 star.
