Hunan Gourmet (常湘聚）

The restaurant has big round tables and private rooms with karaoke, which makes it perfect for group gatherings. Dishes overall are flavorful but not overly salty, which is a nice surprise. The sweet rice balls were the perfect finish. Plenty of parking right in front and across the street.

The food’s really good, the vibe’s great, and you can even do karaoke.

This new restaurant is outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the service is excellent with a friendly staff and every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything right from the start, but this one does. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the food and service here. Prices were reasonable. We were a party of 8 and left full for less than $160 after tip/taxes. The food was flavored well and not overly salty. The meat was also properly cleaned and grilled. We will definitely return!

The building located right next to the Halsted Orange Line has been vacant for as long as I remember. A couple businesses have attempted to open, but the location seems to be difficult to park. Do not worry, Hunan Gourmet has an extended parking lot across the street. Given their exquisite cuisine of the Hunan province in China, and extensive menu of BBQ skewers. So glad a high quality restaurant is accessible and here to stay! The dining hall is spacious dutifully equipped to accommodate parties of all sizes. The staff are friendly and you can always refer to the QR bilingual menu to order and customize spicy level of your dishes. Give them a try! I think you’ll like it.
