It's a nice place for a date, hang out, or family outing. We ordered the scaillon pancakes, tangerine chicken, and beef with chili peppers 🌶. They were all really good. My beef dish was spicy and flavorful!

Excellent food and really large portions. Service is very quick and surprisingly they even give wet towels at the end. Didn't expect this for the prices. The very fair prices for large portions and excellent service bring tons of value for your money. Definitely must visit.

One of the best Chinese restaurant in Northern New Jersey. Place is huge with enough room between tables. Extensive menu with clear description of each dish. Food is delicious and staff is very attentive to our needs. They have free parking; however, limited spaces available. We went for dinner on a Tuesday night, and were surprised how busy it got. Definitely recommended!

A group of six friends ate here during the holiday week. The group dines here a lot. One vegetarian friend ordered the tofu meal, and five of us shared several meals - the beef and scallions dish, the chicken & eggplant entre, a shrimp dish and the vegetable platter. Everything was delicious at a very reasonable price for Montclair, NJ - around $20 each with tip. The servers are wonderful. The place was packed. Highly recommend!

Date night on a weekday at Hunan Taste in Montclair. The restaurant's interior is beautifully designed, making it suitable for family dinners, gatherings with friends, or even a date. The atmosphere is inviting, and the service was friendly. To start, I ordered the French roast coffee, which was brewed right in front of me. It was a delightful cup of coffee, rich and satisfying. My girlfriend opted for the complimentary jasmine oolong tea, which had a beautiful aroma of jasmine and a delicious taste. The tea provided a nice finish and added to the overall pleasant experience. For appetizers, we tried the crab rangoon, which had a tasty combination of soft crab interior and a crunchy fried shell. The spicy chicken dumplings, however, were less impressive, resembling steamed gyoza but lacking the appeal of sautéed varieties. Moving on to the main course, the General Tso's Triple Fragrance (beef, shrimp, chicken) was a standout. It was among the best I've ever had, and I would return just for this dish. On the other hand, the Mongolian Triple Feast (beef, shrimp, chicken) was a disappointment. The dish was overloaded with onions, lacking in meats and mushrooms. The dish should be called Onion Triple Feast. Despite its promising appearance, the flavor was surprisingly bland. I even shared it with my girlfriend, and we both found it lacking in taste. Despite the mixed experience, the restaurant had a good ambiance and friendly service. Considering the positive aspects, I might give Hunan Taste another try with a different dish in the future.

We had a wonderful small birthday party for my mother. Party of 8. The service was outstanding, the food is great, the atmosphere was very nice, the place was very clean. The bill was pleasantly affordable. i can’t say enough. Hunan Taste is a fantastic choice for a meal.

Google
Tastefully decorated Chinese restaurant offering Cantonese, Szechuan and Hunan food. Lots of parking, very attentive staff and large menu with many options. In addition to regular a regular soup, appetizer and entree options, Hunan Taste has an extensive list of House Specialties to include the fabulous Peking Duck. I liked that fact that even though it was very busy today at lunch (Saturday, and day before Mother's Day), although there were many tables, you could carry on your own conversation without hearing your neighbors. Large portions with delicious food. And hot towels at the end of the meal, as well as fortune cookies. Will return.

We stopped in for a quick bite before movie. The place was very nice and clean. Friendly staff & attentive, they asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We choose inside because it was our first time here. We ordered the fried dumplings. I have to say very meaty. They needed a touch more flavor, for the amount of meat inside, other wise very good. I ordered the wonton soup which was amazing! Due to time restrictions and playing safe, we stayed basic with the chicken and broccoli. Nice amount of both and tasty. It could have used a touch more flavor but all in all we were satisfied with the dishes. We will be back for more with more time. To be fair I only rated 4 star due to the fact that we were in and out quickly and didn't want to under or over rate. In the short time there definitely better then a 3.

Yelp
Ordered from here for Christmas dinner instead of cooking this year. The food got rave reviews. Everything was delicious.

Susan D.

Yelp
arrived and seated right away, put BYO wine on table, and waited and waited. All the servers on the floor were clearing tables and ignoring us Finally got to place order-the ribs were dry and tasteless, the crab rangoon appetizer filling was all crab and no cream cheese filling, so it was a bit off-putting Hunan Lamb was tasteless. Bok Choy however was very good, but that is hard to screw up I have been a customer here off and on for many years, and its just not as good as it used to be

Emilee S.

Yelp
Ordered from Hunan many times for delivery and it never disappoints. Always good quality and fresh. We have tried everything from the fried rices, dumplings, egg roles, beef dishes, shrimp dishes, and chicken dishes, and you can never go wrong. Recently, decided to eat inside and it was equally as good. I tried the mooshoo this time and again, very good. Hunan is one of the best spots in the area for Asian cuisine.

Yelp
I really enjoy this restaurant for Chinese takeout. We also sometimes go and dine in. The restaurant is pretty and the service is always great. Everything in this place is fantastic tho my favorite is the egg drop soup.

Dragonlady L.

Yelp
Ordered catering takeout to supplement our family's celebration for our twins' Confirmation. The Singapore meifun noodles with chicken and roast pork were delicious and plentiful as were the sautéed Shanghai bok choy and Shitaki mushrooms. I wished I took pictures so you can see how much food we had and still had leftovers (ordered to feed 10 people!). So glad to have thought to order from here. Authentic, delicious Chinese dishes. Have ordered in there also and had tasty soup dumplings and hot and sour soup! Both delicious and glad to have this restaurant in our town!

Vivian C.

Yelp
Went here for a birthday dinner and the food did not disappoint! We came here on a Sunday night, I had read reviews that Friday night needed reservations, but thought we wouldn't need to on a Sunday, but went on a whim and called the restaurant earlier in the afternoon to make a reservation that night with no issues. Thank goodness I did, we arrived and saw 20 people waiting outside! They had a small parking lot next to it, a few spots to parallel park right outside, but there's an acme parking lot also across the street. The food was all reasonably priced and tasted pretty good! It's fun for a casual or dressed up environment. The decor isn't anything like you would expect in a chinese restaurant, but it looks nice! Service was fast and efficient and food came out fair quickly as well. I'll stop by again when I'm in the area!

Yelp
Did not have dim sum as advertised. The food wasn't grey even though the location and ambiance is comfortable. Casual dining.

Yelp
I love this place. Ever since we moved into town, we cannot get enough! When we walk in we are greeted with a nurturing feel. They put much pride into waiting on us. The atmosphere was so cool. We felt very comfortable. They made us feel like we were at home. Half-Peking Duck 10/10: This was amazing. Duck is hard to do, but they got it right. Duck is known for being greasy. But this was delectable. Shrimp dumplings 10/10: Not much to say. It was great. Not doughy. Cooked perfectly. Surf and Turf 10/10: Delicate meat. The lobster was perfect. Not overcooked, but tender. The filet was presented in a non traditional way, but it was still great. Come here if you want great service and food.

Christina M.

Yelp
Had a very good meal here a few weeks ago. The pu pu platter was a great way to try a bunch of appetizers. All were very good. The steamed seafood in scallion sauce was very good and low in points ( for any other Weight Watchers out there) It's a BYOB which is always a plus.

Yelp
We had a time last night. We had a time! Hunan Taste was our prepandemic NYE's outing and it felt good to be back onsite last night. I love dining with my cousins because they're pescatarian and try a lot of things I may overlook. For example, my cousin had an incredible fish stew - fish lightly fried, resting in a red pepper sauce. The after kick was a pleasant and twangy surprise! My end of the table ordered tangerine scallops, general tsos shrimp, house special fried rice, dry spicy green beans (a fave!), rolls, and scallion pancakes. Although I didn't partake, everyone said the whole Peking duck was fantastic. Service was super attentive as always and our table always had what we needed promptly. Kudos to our waitress who had been working all day. I would eat here at least once a month if it wasn't so far away from me. Happy New Year!

Nicole B.

Yelp
The best Asian restaurant around! Nice sit down restaurant serving fresh, delicious food. I love their lunch specials and soup dumplings! Service is fantastic! I highly recommend giving them a try!

Liza F.

Yelp
I don't usually review a takeout order, but I'm making an exception because the food was really delicious. Everything came very well packed. They gave an extremely generous portion of free crunchy noodles with duck sauce and mustard. We ordered- Wonton soup, Boneless Ribs, Chicken and Broccoli, Mongolian Lamb, Grand Marnier Shrimp, Cold Sesame Noodles, and Sautéed Bok Choy Everything was very flavorful. The dishes are more exciting and interesting than your run of the mill local takeout Chinese. And they dishes that are familiar are much better versions. The prices are higher but the quality is there. Also, the portions are very generous. You get your money's worth. We will definitely order again.

Walter G.

Yelp
Found this place to be average at best, nice people, good service average food! Too bad as I was looking forward to frequent visits. These folks have another restaurant in NJ that I found to have much better food.

Mike P.

Yelp
Maybe I'm not getting it, but I've never felt that the original, and now this newer location are doing anything that's particularly special. Yes, it's good Chinese food. I simply don't feel that they are really a cut above other local cuisine. However, the menu is extensive. There's sure to be an option for just about any fan of Chinese cuisine. Vegetarian, seafood, etc. I'm not certain that what they're doing warrants their higher price-point compared to other local establishments. It's Americanized Chinese food with better marketing and presentation. That being said, one thing that certainly separates them from the pack is their consistency. They don't really have off nights. You know exactly what you're going to get. I appreciate that they offer gluten-free options as it's become a necessity in our household. I will admit that I prefer most of their dishes when they're done traditionally as opposed to gluten-free, but it's still high quality. The takeout is usually ready when they say it will be. The only exception may be major holidays, but even then it's only a short delay. The service in the restaurant is impeccable. The servers are knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating.

Rita H.

Yelp
Tasty, quick service. Attentive, fried noodles given and water refills regularly. Easy parking in Upper Montclair. Nice waitstaff. We had tofu dishes that were as good or better than any meat dish. The soups were great too. I had the egg drop and my dining partner had the wonton. Both good on a cool Fall evening. After dinner we took a brief walk and explored Upper Montclair. A cut above average Chinese food worth the ride.

Nuno M.

Yelp
Amazing Huan Duck and pork fried rice Wish they still had the dim sum lunch Surely plan to come back.

Corey S.

Yelp
Maybe I caught the chef on an off day but I dont understand all the high reviews for Hunan taste. Ordered sesame chicken for lunch and the chicken was very crunchy and chewy, even had to spit a few pieces out. have had better chicken at those random Chinese shops in Paterson. Was not worth the $20+. Also terrible value for the crab rangoon as you only get 4 for $8. Other places its 6 or 8 pieces. To top it off the crunchy noodles were stale They open at noon which hurts them a little as the other lunch places in town open 11 or 1130. Montclair has good Chinese food places but I would take this one off the list for now

Yelp
Wow, the atmosphere in Hunan Taste is wonderful. Even the outdoor seating is beautiful and I plan to enjoy it when it gets warmer out. Human Taste has a large menu and we arrived just before 5:00 which was great because by the time we finished our meal there was a line and the restaurant was packed. We ordered a bunch of stuff including Soup, Egg Rolls, Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings), Volcano Filet, and Cantonese Noodles. Human Taste was at five stars when we arrived. Service was excellent and they sat us right away without a reservation. The Egg Rolls are huge and delicious. Even the free Crispy Noodles they serve are yummy. The Soup Dumplings truly surprised me, they were actually very good and something I have a hard time finding in the area. The dipping sauce for the Soup Dumplings were perfect, however they didn't give me the spoon for them and I had to ask for chopsticks. The guy next to me also ordered Soup Dumplings and he got the spoon. We started out very impressed, but unfortunately, both our entrees took quite awhile to arrive. The person I was with ordered the Volcano Filet so I understood since they asked for it to be medium well, it might take awhile. I had asked to substitute the meat component of the Cantonese Noodles with Tofu and they accommodated, but forgot to bring it with Tofu. So they left the steak sitting on a table for about ten minutes while they placed tofu on the noodles in the kitchen. It kind of felt weird since the food was in the middle of foot traffic. I could have ignored these little hiccups as they were busy and friendly and fixed everything, but our entrees were disappointing. We both felt we had just ordered the wrong meals since our appetizers were so delicious. We both ordered meals that included alcohol and they alcohol hadn't been cooked long enough in the sauce to give the right flavor. Despite this, I would still highly recommend this place. I want to go back and try a special which I really should have done. Atmosphere is excellent, it's clean and beautiful, service is friendly and accommodating, and the food we did like we really enjoyed.

Tawnya M.

Yelp
Bad experience. My family and I experienced racism on Sunday 1/14/24 and we attempted to dine here but was ignored by staff for over 25 minutes we waited in the front and no one said a word to us attempted to greet or seat us . Horrible experience the restaurant wasn't crowded and was fully staffed we didn't feel welcome so we left . The staff should be very careful of whom you treat bad

Tracey R.

Yelp
I have eaten here before but recently went for the lunch specials. The atmosphere is very nice, and the lunch was delicious! We had the general Taos white meat chicken, roast pork and chicken Lo Mein and the shrimp with broccoli, we all had wonton soup with our lunches. The wontons were homemade in the soup and so fresh and delicious! Everything was very tasty and fresh. The shrimp and broccoli came with four really nice size shrimp. All in all a great lunch and atmosphere, I will definitely go back. I would also like to add our waitress was awesome, as well as the rest of the staff!

Lady F.

Yelp
Great Food, good service, nice ambiance - make a reservation- this place is popular - there is a wait for walk-in's.

Alison C.

Yelp
My brother and sister-in-law insisted that they take me to Hunan Taste, a Chinese restaurant they loved for both its food and its atmosphere. From the moment we parked in its lot, I could tell that this was an upscale place. They had a large outdoor patio, as well as the beautiful dining room where we sat. It was decorated simply, but had modern touches of Asian flare scattered about. The staff was also extremely friendly, though the service was rather slow. We wound up trying a plethora of items, starting with the Pork Soup Dumplings and Special Wonton Soup. I found the pork within the noodles to be rather fatty and strong flavored. The soup, though, was very good; it was well-seasoned and not greasy. We then moved onto the Dan Dan Noodles, which were a great rendition with a decent hint of spice. Next came two entrees for us to share. The House Special Sizzling Tofu included sliced chicken, pork, baby shrimp, snow peas, black mushrooms, and red peppers in a brown sauce. The meal was served on sizzling pan, which kept the fresh vegetables nice and crisp. The tofu was fried, which I did not love, but the robust sauce was very enjoyable. The House Special Chow Fun consisted of wide rice noodles with shrimp, chicken, pork, and vegetables. As far as the veggies for this item, the ones included were onions, scallions, and red and green peppers. Despite the limited vegetables, all of the included proteins were cooked to perfection. The dish had a lot of flavor, despite not being very saucy. From the vibe to the cuisine, Hunan Taste provided a delightful dinner.

Anna Marie G.

Yelp
Chinese restaurant like no other. Decorated to please the eye. service impeccable food is fresh and very tasty.

Username N.

Yelp
Food: Wonton chips with duck sauce and mustard- crispy as they should be. Mustard was very Horseradishy. Too strong a taste for me tbh. Vege rolls- 5/5. Perfection. Served hot. Chicken corn soup- 3.5/5 - good flavor and consistency but too salty. Also,i wish they served it with some sauces( like chili sauce, vinegar and green pepper, or soy sauces were not served) Beef fried rice- 5/5- outstanding! Definitely worth a try here. Mongolian beef- 4/5- honestly, compared to the other dishes, it was a bit boring. But tastes good with fried rice alone. Carrots were unnecessary Crispy hot chili pepper shrimp- (with peanuts) - 6/5 hands down my favorite dish on the menu tonight. Huge shrimps. Not overly spicy. Dry and crispy. Gen tso's chicken- 5/5 - i absolutely loved it. So did the kids. Not spicy. Just sweet and perfect. saucy. Service- Reservation (required)- 7pm Actually seated at around 7:20 Overall, good and prompt service. No complaints Ambiance: Loud, alive, pleasant. Good for small or medium sized groups.

Donna V.

Yelp
First time here and I have to say the food was excellent. We started with the wonton soups, Pu Pu platter, ribs and fried dumplings. If we knew the Pu Pu platter was going to have that much stuff we would have not gotten the additional dumplings. Mongolian beef was delicious. Beef with broccoli was just as good. The filet steak was good. The shredded crispy beef from the traditional Chinese menu was awesome but very spicy . (They didn't put the spicy warning on the scan menu) so they remade it not so spicy. But it was excellent both way. Sweet and sour chicken for the kids. Very large portions. All around nice place. Service was excellent. Very clean too.

Kat J.

Yelp
Decided to order Chinese food on the eve of Lunar New Year, and picked this restaurant purely due of the fact that they had Peking Duck. I ordered half of a Peking Duck, Sautéed String Beans, Hot Beef with Peppers and Pork Chow Mein. The food held up quite well despite the fact that I was approximately 30 minute late. They were all still warm when we got home. I really liked the string beans, they were cooked perfectly with nicely blistered skin and seasoned well. The spicy beef had the perfect amount of kick and the portion size was fairly generous. The only drawdown was the Peking duck. First of all, the portion was really small, definitely not half of a duck, more like a quarter. I recently ordered half of a duck from another establishment and it was more than double the size. With that said, the skin of the duck was pretty crispy and I loved how they included all the necessary accoutrements, ie mandarin pancakes, scallions, cucumbers and hoisin sauce. It was good enough for my Peking duck craving. Overall, I liked Hunan Taste, and would order takeout from here again.

Kenya M.

Yelp
When it comes to good food- I am a follower! I saw a lot of positive reviews for Hunan Taste, so I jumped on the bandwagon and took a ride on over! I called ahead to place my order, and the guy on the phone was very nice. He asked if I wanted to come inside or have them bring my order to my car. He then asked me if I wanted to add a tip to my credit card for "delivery." Once I arrived in their parking lot, I called and told them I was there and the make, model & color of my car. A girl came out in less than 5 minutes with my food, and I was well on my way. Now onto to the FOOD: Meh. It was good but not great! I was expecting to be wowed, but I honestly wasn't. The sesame chicken looked amazing but it was just ok. The sauce had little to no flavor, but chicken was tender and cooked well. The broccoli in garlic was extremely spicy and oily, and the scallion pancakes were soggy. We took a few bites and ended up throwing it all away! $45 worth of food in the garbage did not make me very happy... My first visit wasn't a good one, but I might give them another try in the future. It's a nice dine-in Chinese restaurant (the prices reflect that) so I'll opt to dine in next time maybe. 5 star service 3 star food

Amit K.

Yelp
The place looks grand from outside and elegant upscale inside. Not huge but pretty big. They have a their own parking lot so you do not need to park in the Acme lot. The service is professional and friendly. The menu is large. It has the staple American-Chinese dishes and many specials and traditional dishes. This is a place to come in a group and eat family style. The food itself was great. Good flavor and quality. The portions are large. The complimentary hot tea was also good. The complimentary chips with the sauces was nice. At the end of meal they bring a hot towel so is a nice touch. Overall this is how fine-dining should be.

Bee C.

Yelp
Friendly staff, great presentation of food, and beautiful establishment. Some of the items felt a bit pricey when first ordering. However, the food is consistently quality + delicious (and generous as with most Chinese takeout I've ever experienced - I average 3 meals on any order).

M G.

Yelp
The restaurant is pleasant enough. The servers and other staff are attentive and present. After 5 visits over the last few months the only menu item that's yummy are the shrimp egg roll. Food is often not hot, is heavy handed and either has no taste or is waaaay salty & I like salt. It's time to move on from this restaurant .

Mai Tai C.

Yelp
We make frequent cross-country drives for business and this is our favorite Chinese food anywhere. We always make a point of stopping here when in the northeast even if it's out of our way :)

P J.

Yelp
OK. So we stopped here after a Saturday morning dental appointment. It was 11:50 AM, we were both hungry. I ordered general chows chicken, my wife the pepper steak. The food was quick, delicious and somewhat warm. We were seated in a booth with 19-inch ripped vinyl cover on one of two benches. The ripped vinyl exposed the wood frame and cushion material as it appeared to be detached frome the frame itself. The top of the 1large wood table had severe worn marks, scratches and wobbled approximately 3-inches when touched with hand(s). The service was expedient and well organized. The food was excellent in taste, smell and appearance. The meat was seasoned, well done and tender. The chicken could have used more vegetables. The broccoli was raw and not cooked. The pepper steak was OK with wife as evidenced by her silence. The veggies fried rice was exceptional as observed by the assortment of veggies and egg,,,,,,,,, yes egg. The Jasmin tea was good but faint as noted by the lack of fragrance when sipped. The food was good and plenty as we later had the leftovers for dinner that evening. Overall, it was a good experience as we hope to have Dinner there one night soon.

Jack S.

Yelp
Ever since chendu 46 closed I haven't found a GOURMET chinese restaurant. Hunan taste in denville is close. I find hunan taste in denville is better than the Montclair location. The Peking duck was fair at best. Even though this is closer I will go to the denville location

C. E.

Yelp
First time trying Hunan and I plan to order again. I ordered delivery for 3 people, wait time was an hour, and I received updates when the delivery time was pushed out. Delivery is by Grubhub. Food did arrive luke warm but was still good and everyone enjoyed. We kept the food simple, since it was a new restaurant; chicken, veggie, shrimp fried rice, egg rolls and ribs. All of the food was flavorful, and delicious. I plan to try other foods on their extensive menu. It may be best to visit the restaurant or do food pickup.

Brodé M.

Yelp
There is really good takeout in the world...like T.S. Ma. Then there is ok takeout followed by garbage takeout I wouldn't feed my dog. Hunan Taste might as well not even be fit for a rodent. What a disappointment for $90 worth of take out. I Ordered the General Tso's Chicken and the Tangerine Beef...I mean I forced myself to eat it. Both had zero flavor and just some dark brown lousy excuse of a sauce. I had to add some Fly By Jing Szechuan sauce and some Korean BBQ sauce just to make it palatable. On top of the sauce the meat is just disgusting, barely any real meat and the rest was batter filled gunk. I'll never patronize this place in house and I'll for sure never order it again. If you are considering ordering this for takeout please consider pulling yesterday's leftovers and or whatever is in your garbage and eat it instead...I wish I was kidding. Places like T.S. MA operate so that people don't have to eat at places like Hunan Taste. I hope this review is transparent enough for others and that you steer clear of making a big mistake. Cheer....egg drop soup was ok.

Bryan E.

Yelp
So the food here was pretty flavorful overall, everything was just a bit over cooked. Especially the General Tso's chicken, it was really chewy. Hoping it was just bad luck on our part because everything did taste great. The steamed dumplings alone will bring us back here, they were phenomenal

Nelson M.

Yelp
A Montclair hidden gem off the main drag. Delicious Chinese food. Great service by "Tina". Well done. We'll be back!

Wei W.

Yelp
What a hidden gem!!!! It's my first time coming to this restaurant and I LOVE It!!! I am a Hunan girl, it's really great to try some of the authentic Chinese dishes. I would definitely go back here again and again!! The staff is very nice and sweet as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves Chinese food!

Amelia C.

Yelp
Some solid options here if you're craving Chinese food in Montclair. They also do their own delivery within Montclair, which always comes within the hour and hot! Recommend the: - spicy beef with peppers - Mala seafood (scallops and shrimp fried in batter and sczechuan peppercorns) - sautéed string beans - Peking pork chop - scallion pancakes Huge portions, and efficient and helpful service. Option of brown or white rice with every dinner entree. They have a lot of seating so good for big groups.

Amber S.

Yelp
Amazing all around. The service, food, and prices per dish. Hunan Taste is an absolute favorite of mine. If you're ever in the mood for authentic Chinese food then this is your place!

Shawn S.

Yelp
Ehh. Ordered 2 orders of chicken lo mein for family to share just now. One order has no chicken and huge mushrooms and one has VERY LITTLE chicken. Crab Rangoon is over cooked as well.

J A.

Yelp
The BEST Chinese food I've ever had. Pricey but so worth it. I order at least three times a month and come in for their dim sum which is also terrific. Management is amazing. Try their shrimp dumplings and Grand Marnier shrimp. Truly the best thing I've eaten in a long time. Peking duck was magnificent. Trust me, you'll be leaving a positive review too!

Brittany V.

Yelp
Have been ordering here for two years! This is 100% upscale Chinese food, they pride themselves on not using MSG which I love because I'm super sensitive to that. This place literally NEVER DISAPPOINTS! The staff is always on point when I call for to-go orders, they're insanely quick, my order is always accurate and tastes phenomenal- just as good as if I ate it in the restaurant. My personal fav's are General Tso chicken, fried rice, egg roll, boneless spare ribs. Absolutely give this place a try!

Laila M.

Yelp
So decided to try a new place because I was craving Chinese and my favorite spot Ts Ma in Montclair is closed on Tuesdays. Worst decision I could of made let me tell you. First off it was way more expensive and not nearly as good. The General Taos chicken was horrible. It was not all white meat, had fatty parts, and was brown like bbq sauce and it wasn't even spicy. The fried rice has no onions or scallions and way to many peas to top it off no flavor whatsoever. The scallion pancakes were so oily. Only thing that was half decent was the veggie lo mein, egg roll and fried wonton strips with the duck sauce. They didn't give me any fortune cookies, soy sauce, or hot sauce. Needless to say the worst $65 i spent, waited 45 mins for delivery and I will never order from them again. Threw away all the general Taos chicken that's how bad it was .If you want good Chinese, clean, and flavorful food hit up Ts Ma in Montclair instead you will not be disappointed. Save your money!!

Yelp
Overhyped and overpriced. Consistently some of the worst Chinese I've had over the years. Which is a shame as it used to be very good, back in the 90's.

Yelp
I'm surprised by the 4.1-star review. I've been here twice and both times left disappointed. First time I had General Cho's chicken. It left me wanting... I love spice in my Chinese food and remember it didn't have a lot of spice. Plus it wasn't as crispy as I would have preferred. And it was almost blackened. Had a weird exterior. Def not what I was used to. Went again last night. Had the king-po chicken. Very disappointed. No spicy heat at all. There was more chestnut in it than chicken. And frankly the chicken wasn't great. Some of it was tough or rubbery. I did enjoy the steamed dumplings however.

Yelp
Probably my fav chinese food place in this area! Fresh food, big portions, great flavors - what more could you ask for?! I tried the sesame chicken, and my friend got the General Tso's. Both were great, and we ended up packing some home to eat for leftovers!

Yelp
The best Chinese I've had so far in the Montclair area. Highly recommend the crispy shredded beef.
