My brother and sister-in-law insisted that they take me to Hunan Taste, a Chinese restaurant they loved for both its food and its atmosphere. From the moment we parked in its lot, I could tell that this was an upscale place. They had a large outdoor patio, as well as the beautiful dining room where we sat. It was decorated simply, but had modern touches of Asian flare scattered about. The staff was also extremely friendly, though the service was rather slow.
We wound up trying a plethora of items, starting with the Pork Soup Dumplings and Special Wonton Soup. I found the pork within the noodles to be rather fatty and strong flavored. The soup, though, was very good; it was well-seasoned and not greasy. We then moved onto the Dan Dan Noodles, which were a great rendition with a decent hint of spice.
Next came two entrees for us to share. The House Special Sizzling Tofu included sliced chicken, pork, baby shrimp, snow peas, black mushrooms, and red peppers in a brown sauce. The meal was served on sizzling pan, which kept the fresh vegetables nice and crisp. The tofu was fried, which I did not love, but the robust sauce was very enjoyable. The House Special Chow Fun consisted of wide rice noodles with shrimp, chicken, pork, and vegetables. As far as the veggies for this item, the ones included were onions, scallions, and red and green peppers. Despite the limited vegetables, all of the included proteins were cooked to perfection. The dish had a lot of flavor, despite not being very saucy.
From the vibe to the cuisine, Hunan Taste provided a delightful dinner.
