Love Hungry Hippie! It's been a long time.. I mean since the Mall and Dome days! Far too long. I forgot how much I enjoy their slaw and garlic sauce! Mmm!! Inhaled that large Tree Hugger bowl like it was my first meal in several days. Try their That's My Jam smoothie and thank me later. 😉

It was a tough decision between 4 or 5 stars but I decided with giving them 5. I got the free bird burrito, chips and queso, plus bubble tea. I knew the burrito was going to be different but it lacked flavor which was surprising since it had a lot in it. The chips and queso were good but not special seemed like it came out of a bulk container. I did really enjoy the pineapple strawberry bubble tea. I wish the burrito/chips were better and that is why I was going to give them 4 but the menu did have other items like bowls, tacos, and nachos that caught my attention and make me want to go back since the food was enjoyable just think I didn’t pick out the right burritos for what I was looking for, plus the food is reasonably priced.

Ok folks all I can say about this place is it's FAR OUT MAN! Gonna add a plug here for my nieces tattoo shop, the Lucky rabbit tattoo in Alpena because of it wasn't for going there to get my first tat (I'm 60) I would have never got to check this cool place out. What a great experience they both were. They're both true artists. My wife had the Boss Hog bowl and I the Tony Burrone burrito. Too many ingredients to list but I will say this the way they rocked it out was nothing less than groovy!! Just check out the photos. First time and not my last time eating there. I'm from the down state and was looking for a local place to eat and came across the hungry hippie. I ordered the backyard bbq bowl, and it was amazing. The service was top notch from when I walked in till I left. The atmosphere was awesome. I love to hippie vibe it had going for it. When back up this way, I will definitely go again.

The service was great and the large box is large, I got the back yard BBQ and it was really good and a good bang for your buck. Bubble tea wasn’t sweet enough for me, but popping bubbles were good.

I have fallen in love with the Hungry Hippie! Food is always delicious prices are reasonable and the Vibe from all the employees is amazing. Highly recommend giving it a try.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for so long and today I saw the special posted, the Pierogies, I asked my husband to stop and get it since he was up there. He brought it all the way back to Barton City where I warmed it and it was still outstanding!!! Well done. I knew I was going to love these flavor combos. Can’t wait to try everything else.

Closed and for sale so...was looking for GF in Alpena Michigan but that didn't happen! Yelp needs to remove this from their platform.

Take out isn't pretty but man is it delicious! Came with a big craving for Mexican and left overly satisfied. We ordered pulled pork nachos, the dazed and confused and tree hugger bowl. All flavorful and delicious! Each dish is well mixed, sauced and seasoned well. The dishes aren't bombarded with spice or sauce, Hungry Hippie lets the ingredients speak for themselves.

Stopped by for lunch. Ordered the Southwest bowl, unbelievable freaking delicious!! Must try!!

I've always really liked this place, and I'm always super excited to try their daily specials. This time i got their Turkey Rueben and it was delicious! The cabbage was still a little crunchy (which I like) and overall the flavors went really well together. This place as two locations as well, one on Ripley and one right across from the starlight beach. Their food is quite pricey, which is why I only go when I have some extra cash lol. But you really can't go wrong with what you get here:)

Don't let the low-key vibe of this tiny restaurant fool you. They prepare entrees with big appeal. I ordered a large portion of the teriyaki chicken bowl and had a hard time finishing it. So tasty and satisfying. I'm looking forward to returning to try other menu selections. While waiting, it was fun to walk around and check out the "hippie art details."

Was visiting Alpena with my bf and I picked this spot for lunch. I recently moved back to Michigan from California and this place is awesome! Fresh, healthy and absolutely delicious!!! Paper drinking straws and dog friendly outdoor picnic tables. Only things missing is a public restroom and a recycling can so the paper boxes and plastic cups don't end up in our landfills! Thank You Hungry Hippie!!

Great people, great food. We drove back and forth trying to find this place. It's in the parking lot of Water's Edge motel, behind a putt putt place. If you live near, grab a punch card! They have a few smoothies and a few different sandwiches and a happy bowl with brown rice and beans and avocado.

Always nice to see a unique new restaurant popping up in Alpena, and always sad when they fail within a year, but fortunately Hungry Hippie won't fall into that category because their food is AMAZEBALLS. Whatever is in the Happy Bowl sauce (possibly a combination of sorcery and/or a secret ingredient the owner had to sell his soul for) is just straight up excellent. I haven't tried all of their smoothies, but the chocolate one was damn tasty. Also liked that HH is right on Lake Huron and next to the mini-golf, which makes for a perfect Alpena combo on a summer day. Eat here before they close for the season!

The food was a little pricey and mine didn't taste good at all. I'm not sure what the yellow stuff they put on top is but it tasted like mustard. Mustard, rice and beans do not mix well together. My food was also cold and I picked it up as soon as I received the message that it was ready. I was parked outside waiting so I'm not sure how it got cold in the minute it took me to walk in the mall to grab it. Won't be coming back but my boyfriend liked his order so I'll chalk it up to just a bad dish I chose.

Best place in NE Michigan. Finally good, fresh, affordable food. Great service. Cool place. No indoor seating, but picnic tables outside. Take your food to-go and walk to beach across the street. Hungry Hippy is the best!

You know when you're traveling and all you're eating is processed food and you start to feel yucky and you just need some fresh, nutritious food? MAN did this place hit that spot! I had an original bowl, a tabouli salad and a smoothie. 100% would eat again, and look forward to it.

Delicious and great service. There are so many wonderful items it's hard to list all of our favorites- the bowls, chocolate thunder shake, tacos, nachos. They are all delicious. (The chipotle sauce is tasty but sometimes I find there to be too much so I ask them to go light). There is usually a wait but it goes quickly. It would be nice if there were umbrellas at some of the tables to get out of the sun. So we usually get our food to go.

Odd place for a food vendor unless you are playing mini-golf or at Starlite beach. Even more odd are the hours. No weekend times next to the beach?!Try to grab a close parking spot, bring a book or have a fun app on your phone because it will take awhile for your grub to be ready (30 minutes for our two orders). Maybe next time, we will see if we can call in our order in advance. The Rueben sandwich that we got was delicious, even if it was more of a flavored grilled cheese (TONS of cheese if that's what you're into). The burrito bowl was really good though. Had a slight curry flavor to it that was great. I would recommend this over the sandwich that we bought. The mango and chocolate thunder smoothies were both good (mango would be my choice). Both seemed like good ingredients. The staff seemed very nice, even if they were a little overwhelmed and behind. Who I assumed was the owner handed one of the workers some keys with instructions to his close-by apartment for more cheese. Should have grabbed a punch card, so don't forget!

The hours are short but the food is great! My hubby and I shared a Big Boss Bowl. Pulled pork, rice, black beans and more. It was delicious. This place is perfect for a lunch break when playing at the beach across the street. Also, if you still have room the Scoops truck is parked behind The Hungry Hippie!

Funky little place in a putt putt golf course. Tasty Buddha bowl, the curry sauce is a nice touch.

Not impressed with this place at all! Sandwich selection was limited and very small serving . Also had nachos that were stale tasting , would not go again !

A little difficult to find, but defiantly worth a visit. The food is extremely fresh and delicious.

Real good.look for the putt putt golf and it's right behind it by the water. Just simple food trailer run by a couple guys who care. Nice lunch.

This food is so fresh, unique, & delicious. Service always fast, professional, & courteous. A great addition to Alpena.

This place is delicious! My wife and I both got bowls, and they were both fantastic. Wish this place was closer to home.

Great food, juice...had grilled cheese..amazing. Bowl was good too. Clean eating, yet has fast food fun, and quality ingredients. Great logo.

Love Hungry Hippie! Have not been disappointed in anything yet. I don't even look at the menu anymore. Just order the special because you know it will be good!
