Hunky Dory

I'm always a little skeptical of highly rated restaurants. Is it really that good? At Hunky Dory, I can confidently and excitedly share it is indeed that good. The food was exceptional and the service somehow even better! We ordered drinks, the country ham as an appetizer and for the main course - the grilled BBQ fish and fried chicken. The fish was so beautifully plated, a mix of colors, flavors and textures all perfectly cooked. The fried chicken was everything you want fried chicken to be, hot, crispy, juicy and flavorful despite a good allergy which reduced the chefs options for spices. They were friendly, accommodating and fantastic. Special thanks to Colleen our wonderful waitress and the kitchen staff for working around our allergies!!!!

Booked a reservation for two through the website, was an easy experience using Tock. Arrived on time and our table was ready for us in the corner (great spot, near the cookbooks and kitchen. Our server (can’t remember her name) was absolutely fantastic, very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. She also shared some great information about how Sam creates the meals from scratch and how and where they source the meat and produce. The cocktails were awesome, very well done, and balanced. The Ginger Grant was the best of the four. The Hunky OF was very smooth. We started with the Pimento Cheese, the cheese was delicious and the the house crackers that were served with superb, really paired well with and complemented the cheese. The Hot Honey Drop Biscuits came out at the same time and these were my favorite food item, they were cooked perfectly, tasted amazing and the hot honey brought them over the top (they also were good with a little smear of pimento cheese) For the mains we also had the wings, cooked perfectly and the Alabama white was delicious, could have used more sauce, but I should have asked for more! Wife ordered the burger, which was tasty, with a side of the fries (so yum, the crispiness was perfect) and a side of the dilly beans, she loved those. Dessert was a perfect end to the meal, the almond cake was good and I thoroughly enjoyed my S’More cup (blend of chocolate graham and ‘mellow was on point). This place is truly a hidden gem in this area. We had dinner there as family of four ( Two kids under 4). Not only the food was amazing but also their hospitality was exceptional. Huge thank you to Talia who was our server that day. She was so sweet to kids as well and made us welcome there from the time we enter the restaurant. Back to the food, the bisquits were to die for. We are going to coming back for this. One thing tho, if you plan to dine here, make a reservation in advance. There are not many tables there so. Can’t wait to come back to that place~

Hunky Dory is a restaurant that feels like you're hanging out in your best friends backyard, and your best friend happens to be a genius chef that gets all their ingredients from farmers in the neighborhood. I loved the crab Rangoon squash blossoms. Perfectly fried so they only tasted lightly toasted and the filling had delicious crab with a kiss of cream cheese. The scallops were also to die for. It's such a relief to find a place that makes you feel better after you eat the food instead of regretting that you over ate. Can't wait to return again!!

loved everything about Hunky Dory: the service was super friendly and welcoming, they are very conscientious of dietary restrictions, the food is DELICIOUS (fried chicken sandwich ftw). their menu has a few non-alcoholic beverage options which I always appreciate. yummy dessert menu + some french press coffee for after dinner enjoyment. plenty of parking available in the lot across the street. the atmosphere was quiet - music played very gently, it was not too busy, perfect for an intimate conversation. I loved the very pretty dining plates, and the decorations around the space were thoughtful and inviting. Will definitely return next time I'm in RI!

The absolute best dinner we’ve ever had!! From the atmosphere to the menu, we’ve been blown away. We’re self-proclaimed foodies and we we’ve traveled near and far to try places. Hunky Dory’s has nailed it!! We will definitely be back ❤️

I always get the chicken sandwich and fries but have recently disappointed with the food quality and proportions. They advertise (and used to have) chicken that was massive but now it’s rarely bigger than the bun. The fries went from a potato wedges to thin crinkle, but the price has stayed the same. Feels like I’m getting jipped and each time I order out there’s less and less. Edit: Just tried out the chicken sandwich again. Way smaller than it used to be. Maybe it’s because I do takeout that they don’t give the best cuts but the price is staying the same and the portions are getting smaller. Sad to see

Charming space, lovely staff and delicious food. We got the shrimp & grits special, chicken sandwich, dilly beans and Brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious.
