Burger was good. We had a cheeseburger and a mushroom Swiss burger. It was very filling. The patties are well done and do taste under seasoned. I’d say the star of our meal were the hand-dipped onion rings. I did not try any desserts since we were so full but perhaps next time! We parked along the street of bishop arts without realizing that they had parking instructions. We had to wait in line quite a bit as there was only one cashier, but service is friendly. Food came out without too long of a wait.

Simple burger spot in a central location within Bishop Arts. Good kids menu. Not many frills.

This place was amazing! 🤩 it feels like you stepped right into the 50’s! The each employee we encountered was so nice and helpful! They made sure we had an amazing experience. They checked on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed! Parking was a bit crazy on Saturday afternoon but they will validate parking in a certain lot. So the food! The pictures speak for themselves, the burgers were excellent and made just how you ask. We wanted greasy unhealthy comfort food and that’s exactly what we got! I didn’t love the onion rings, they retained too much grease for my taste. The fries were excellent and that is my first love! We had the elote bites, and fried mushrooms. We also topped off the meal with a brownie and they had just gotten in fresh cakes! They had a variety. Everything was reasonably priced and I recommend!

Whenever I'm in the area, I try to go to Hunky's. The food is good. The burgers are fantastic. The service is great, and the menu has something for everyone, including vegans. The tater tots may be the best side dish. I thought the onion rings were far too greasy. The chicken fried steak sandwich was a little dry. With that being said, I've never had a bad burger there. The desserts are fantastic. I suggest you try a piece of cake or take a slice home when you go there.

Great burger joint tucked off in the trendy Bishop arts district. If you like burgers and fries this is for you. We had the double cheeseburger and the chilli cheese Hot dog with fries, onion rings and fried mushrooms. They split the hot dog down the middle before cooking it which gives it a great flavor the chilli and cheese were good, the double cheeseburger was huge. The onion rings were awesome. The fries were ok. Those fried mushrooms were great. Over all the food was good enough to return to try other food on the menu. The service was great! We got in, We were served. We ate and left. No problems. The atmosphere was was awesome. They really captured the "burger joint" aesthetic to a tee. One way in and one way out. They had several TVs broadcasting several different shows. Overall a nice experience. If you are in Bishop arts check this place out.

Good burgers and fries. Excellent shakes and malts. Funky little old school style diner vibe.

Google
Solid, classic American diner experience, complete with 50s style tables and chairs/booths. Chili is smooth, dogs aren't wimpy at all, and the burgers are juicy. The value is amazing! Friendly, attentive staff. Clean and cared for. Consistently busy but food comes out at a good pace. A great, affordable option, rare in a touristy area. Great if you want some solid comfort food. Best onion rings! Bathrooms are gendered single rooms.

Google
Loved the 80s feel of the place. Timeless signage and cups. Wish they sold t-shirts. Many vegetarian options. Impossible burger is tasty flattened. Fries are a must.

Yelp
First time in the Bishop's art district. This place was pretty simple but I have nothing to complain about. I did really enjoy that the buns on the chicken sandwich were not stale despite being wheat. It was super soft and almost dough like compared to the rocks you get elsewhere. The service was good and the interior is the american classic feel.

Yelp
The hype is just that...hype. Many people told me Hunky's was a Dallas staple with amazing diner food, but most of it is not anything special in my opinion. I will say the saving grace was the onion rings which are hand battered and delicious but not worth the almost $4 for a small which is 5 rings total. We also ordered the salted Carmel shake and a salad. The salad was reminiscent of a day old salad bar salad that had been out all day with chicken that was fried in oil that was definitely used for other food items as well (tasted almost like fried fish) and the shake was runny with low quality ice cream. The staff is kind but nothing over the top and the facility was clean and well kept. All in all, nothing spectacular but will satisfy if you are hungry.

Yelp
It's a nice concept of a diner and I like how you order up front and then bring your number to the table. For my taste, the hamburger could have used a bit of extra seasoning or grease to give it a depth of flavor. It didn't quite taste like it was cooked on that well seasoned griddle like at other burger joints. A cute little little spot in a cute part of town but might try something new next time I'm in that hood.

Robert J.

Yelp
Well they could make better French fries and the burger needs to be cooked with love, doesn't really have a good season taste, and take time toasting the buns, they can do better if they try, just stop being so lazy

Yelp
They serve tasty old-fashioned hamburgers and shakes. I love the old-school diner vibes and the quick service. The Texas toast was toasted just right, and although the patty melt was messy, it was very delicious!

Lexi H.

Yelp
We came here after bishop bazaar because we were craving burgers. cute old school diner vibe. The staff is friendly and tried to get through the line quickly. They validate parking for 2 hour timeframe - you can do so by the register. They have their standard menu and have a whiteboard with other options. We got the Hunky's Texas burger with sweet potato fries and jalapeno poppers. One of our poppers was very cold but the others were good. My parents got the hotdog and fried mushrooms. They also serve beer, wine and premade cocktails which is nice.

Clarissa S.

Yelp
The cheeseburgers here are delicious no joke. I always walked by thinking it was just an overrated bishop arts restaurant however it lives up to its hype. 10/10 classic cheeseburger would definitely be coming back for more.

Ajai H.

Yelp
Good food, great vibes, nice staff, old time vibe. Their ranch is really good. Will be back!

Julia M.

Yelp
One of my favorite diners in the area! Great place to hang out with friends or family. The staff is always nice. I enjoy just a typical burger with fries. The fried pickles are good

Gill S.

Yelp
Every time I've seen this place, it's always been during an event that was really busy and it was going to be at least an hour wait. I finally decided to try this place out on a Monday where there was no wait and reasonable amount of people This is actually a solid traditional hamburger place. It's not greasy, but certainly does it lack flavor. They do put the veggies on the bottom, which is a pet peeve of mine, but I forgive them on the overall experience of it. I didnt want to get anything crazy or ginormous, so I stuck with a bacon cheeseburger with tater tots. The burger is a decent size for what you get for the price. The bacon was a fairly thick slice and was well pronounced. The burger meat had a good amount of moisture, with a nice char on the edge that wasnt all around but still enjoyable when it was there. The tator tots were nice and crispy. I do enjoy me so tator tots when they are done right!

Cathy O.

Yelp
The burgers were delicious, but the fries were disappointing--lacked seasoning. On the plus side, service was fast.

Bobbi S.

Yelp
Good for burgers of different varieties, fries, salads, sodas, milk shakes (pricey & underwhelming), etc. In other words, the usual "American fare". Interior looks like a classic, old fashioned soda shop. menu is a decent size, some prices are moderate, some on the high side. Dining is both inside & outside.

Yelp
I'm a new resident of the Bishop Arts District but I've heard that this neighborhood was RADICALLY different (i.e., Less poshy) as recently as 10 years ago. Hunky's is a relic from that era, and has not appeared to make any effort to adjust their vibe to the younger, hipper, richer clientele that now habitate their neighborhood. This is 100% part of their charm. If you've grown tired of the chirpy, immaculately dressed millennials at Casablanca or Written By The Seasons, the gruff Boomer cashier at Hunky's will be a welcome change of pace. Tired of intentionally minimalist interiors interspersed with tasteful foliage at Paradiso or Lucia? The brown booths and red burger trays will fit your fancy. Can't stand paying $10 for a slice of pie at Emporium or 1 taco at Tejas? You'll love Hunky's $12.50 burger combos. Basically, Hunky's is everything that every other joint in the Bishop Arts District is not. And has pretty decent diner food to boot. Will definitely be back.

Keyona D.

Yelp
I found my burger spot. I was craving a burger and found this place near me. Got a ground turkey burger with onions rings. The food came out very fast. It was sooooo good and fresh. I enjoyed every bite of my meal. I will definitely be back to try one of those desserts.

Maria S.

Yelp
Was told basically to hurry up and eat because they were going to close before posted hours by employee named Dave. Food has also been hit or miss for a bit now.

Robert C.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a quick lunch before heading home. Very friendly staff and very clean location. I ordered the Hula Burger with onion rings and Jalapeño poppers for starters. The poppers were kind of cool inside and the cheese wasn't melted. It's like they had the temp too high on the fryer. Also, my onion rings were dripping with oil. I think they just take the onion rings right out of the fryer and put them in the basket. My burger was delicious and the toppings seemed fresh. Everyone with me at the table enjoyed their food. They commented on much they loved the crunch of the tots.

Marva R.

Yelp
By now everyone knows I love a good hot dog and burger. Hunky's as always doesn't disappoint. Lunch time yeah it is busy and it is hard to get a seat sometimes. But the staff is always pleasant and ready to serve. Just reminds of a feel good time. Small, bustling and fun. Now I order for the crew two double hamburgers with cheese, chilli dogs and onion rings. Well worth it.

Byron T.

Yelp
Ok I've been eating at Hunky's since 1991, in Oak Lawn, now I have one close to my home. I really like the Biship Arts Hunky's, the burgers are great I always get the Hamburger Special; they make it the way I like it, love the tots, reminds me of going to dinners with my grandparents when I was a kid. The service has always been good, and the dining room and bathrooms have always been clean. Great kid place.

Melissa B.

Yelp
First visit here and only came because wait at another restaurant was too long. Love the diner feel. Shakes, onion rings and tots were good. Was disappointed in our burgers- way over cooked and so were very dry. I noticed other tables were also having to use ketchup in order to eat. They were really crowded but every burger in our order was overcooked and dry. Will give them another try during the week to see if they do better.

Marisol H.

Yelp
I got two bacon cheeseburgers one with no tomato and add jalapeño to it and the other regular... they gave me the regular one with jalapeños and the one with no tomato without jalapeños and then when they were remaking them brought the fries back to the table and said they were making the burgers again and now I have cold ass fries and tarot tots

Lauren W.

Yelp
Cute, home style spot with quality burgers! I got the blue cheese cheeseburger & the patty was juicy & delicious. I stopped in on a busy Sunday afternoon & the food was out super quickly, I would definitely recommend for a quick & filling meal perfect to keep you going while walking around the Bishop Arts area.

C S.

Yelp
Service crazy slow. They refuse to open 2 registers when there are 11 people in line. Not enough help and all the tables are dirty. Burger was dry and overcooked. Fried mushroom small order was 5 mushrooms for $4.99. Really? A dollar a piece.

briana r.

Yelp
I love it here! It's such a great spot to get a classic burger! The vibe is great. I always get a classic cheese burger and a side a of fries after work.

Toni S.

Yelp
Touring the area at lunch time and my family and I decided to stop at Hunky's. This was my first visit so I was not prepared. The lunch special was a mushroom and Swiss with fries and a drink. Wasn't sure if I would like it but the pictures on Yelp helped me make up my mind. You walk up to the front door to place your order. The guy was friendly and answered my questions. Right in front of you is a bunch of cakes that look delicious! The restaurant has a diner feel to it and was really cute. Overall I will say this place was good. Traditional burger and fries place that will fill you up.

Jessica M.

Yelp
I love Hunky's.. the burgers are great.. super juicy and flavorful. They also have amazing cakes and pretty good milkshakes. My favorite thing on the menu is actually their corny dogs - the batter is sweet and they don't taste microwaved. Parking is difficult for this location but I also love the oak lawn location, though it's smaller. Service is great at both!

Yasmin H.

Yelp
I can't emphasize enough how good this place was. It was my time visiting this place, so I ordered a classic burger with sweet potato fries. If it wasn't for the fact that it was a double burger, I would have happily finished all of it. The burger itself was really good. As for the fries, I can say these were the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. I loved the service. The cashier was in high spirits which made the experience better. The servers were very kind when handing out the food and very attentive to its customers, which I appreciate. I am a sucker for vintage aesthetics, and the ambiance of the restaurant delivered that. The neon signs, vintage tables and chairs, and the saturated colored photos gave a real feeing of nostalgia. I found myself looking around the place constantly to admire the details. If you're in the Bishop Arts area, please check this burger joint. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
This place made Me Happy Yummy Everything was Great! The food and service The Ambiance was very chill

Rush G.

Yelp
They have a nice ambiance with an old fashion atmosphere. The place is bustling with people, making it very alive, while the food is also good. If you visit you must try one of their sundaes or their Banana Chocolate chip Cake! The combination of the sweet cake and the savory icing is a must have for any foodies.

Delilah M.

Yelp
The service is amazing and the food is delicious. I just felt so jolly in this place :) It was so hot that I came for an ice cream stop, and it did not disappoint!! Totally recommend coming here when you get the chance

Cheryl M.

Yelp
Amazing food and atmosphere! We always try to have a meal there following my husband's appointment at UTSW.

Tabokingu N.

Yelp
These hamburgers.... They hit!!! Best burgers when you are in the bishop area. Cute date spot

Jate' J.

Yelp
Hunk's!!!!! Omg, an actual good burger spot in Bishop Arts! Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!!!! I personally love all of the alternative options. You want veggie? They got you! A lil turkey......seafood option? They. Got. YOU! This is a cute lil spot to grab an authentic handmade patty, fries, and soda. No matter your preference. I've had the black bean burger and was literally licking my fingers. The options of sauces gives you the ability to do whatever you please. All you true burger lovers.....no, I have not tried the true beef. Only the veggie and turkey.....but if I like those I JUST KNOW that beef is gonna give you what you need. They also have daily specials for an amazing price' check them out.

Chase L.

Yelp
In sum: Hunky's has that old diner feel to it that brings you back to a different time while enjoying comfort food where everyone is welcome. Ambiance is that of a classic diner feel, or at least comes very close. Plenty of room and good comfy seating (although a bit tattered over the years). Friendly staff with a giant list of comfort food from burgers to hotdogs to delicious deserts such as red believer cake, malts, and more. You're bound to come back time and time again to try something new. The taste was a bit average but for the price and location, I can't complain. You just need to set your expectations coming here. You're not going to get a life changing burger here... but you'll leave happy and full. Had the jalapeño burger and corn elote Bites. The alcohol section was stacked. Great drinks list only rivaled by that of the food menu itself. The frozen Margarita was well with the brain freeze . I would definitely suggest you give it a try. All in all, it's a place worth visiting in the bishop arts area and I'm bound to return.

Arran D.

Yelp
Generic burger place. Their onion rings and fries are good, and their service is prompt, but the food is nothing to write home about. The restaurant is decorated like a diner (think blues and reds with booths), so it's adorable. It's a fun place to be and Bishop Arts is a good location for it. Parking is a pain, but that's what's to be expected for Bishop Arts. It's worth a trip and taking a few pictures, but definitely plan on going elsewhere in Bishop Arts to make the cost for parking worth it!

Marisa M.

Yelp
To quote my mother "it's just a greasy spoon is what it is." The sandwiches we order fell apart immediately, they weren't cut all the way through, one had only one small tomato slice with a stem, and one had no mayo. Deep fried stuff was alright.

Vickie K.

Yelp
Excellent hamburgers and there's shopping to boot! This particular "Hunky's Hamburgers" is in the Bishop Arts District, and it reminds me of New York's Soho area. If you're looking for a good burger with shopping/ambiance this Hunky's Hamburger nestled in the Bishop Arts District where you can eat, sight see and shop is a nice little gem.

Sharon W.

Yelp
So this place was recommended because my niece wanted a cheeseburger for lunch. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. I had to chipotle cheeseburger and it came with bacon. my niece had a cheeseburger is she absolutely loved it as well.. Oh, and the customer service is on point so helpful. Always checking in. Definitely recommend people to check it out.

Misty J.

Yelp
Was here this passed weekend and really enjoyed my patty melt and tots. As someone from out of state I appreciated the rye bread as I'm accustomed and not Texas toast. My friend really enjoyed their cake too. Plenty of seating and space but the customer service can use some work. Great location in the art district of Dallas. Overall, would definitely try it again.

Luis E.

Yelp
Burgers are very good flavorful and tasty. Fries are also good the space itself is in a shop in the corner of bishop arts nice little spot

Alicia F.

Yelp
Stopping for a meet and greet this place was recommended and I agree. Though Bishop Arts is crowded with small venues this place has a pretty decent size large retro 50's look. The bacon burger was great except slightly salty probably due to the bacon but my black bean burger was excellent! It's hard to find a veggie burger that's not dry and flavorless. This was the opposite the flavor was good with a slight hint of spicy and juicy, maybe it was b/c it came with avocado. They serve dessert which I didn't try but looks enticing.

dino

Yelp
this place is amazing, comfortable setting and amazing sweet potato fries. most of the staff are kind and they have awesome daily specials

Mark T.

Yelp
The Hamburger Man had catered our company luncheon 3 times and the burgers were great. So was thrilled to learn that they have a restaurant. Visited Hunky's and had a hamburger, fries, and piece of cake. Hamburger was awesome, fries were average. Cake was average as well, and over-priced. Will return for hamburger and will try tater tots instead of french fries.

Ken P.

Yelp
By far the worst grilled chicken salad I have ever had. The greens were wilted and tomatoes mushy. I regret the experience but learned my lesson. It's a hamburger place, next time I'll stick to what they know.

Debbie R.

Yelp
My husband is a burger aficionado and he said this was at the top of his list for a great burger! I try not to eat beef so I got a tuna sandwich which was really and sweet potato fries!! They were very crispy. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful. The ambiance isn't the best but it's cute and serviceable.

Michelle W.

Yelp
This is a fun, old school burger joint. I love the atmosphere here. My burger was super flavorful and juicy and my fries were super hot. I'll surely be back for more

Adeola W.

Yelp
S U M M A R Y After eating this place, I was sick for the rest of the night. I'm not sure how they have such a prominent location in Bishop arts with such low quality and bad tasting food. T A S T E Per usual, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with fries. I did not like it at all. Nothing about it was good. All of the ingredients seemed very low quality. S E R V I C E Service was fine. Your order at the counter and then you sit down. Nothing very memorable about it. A M B I E N C E Definitely has a 50s diner vibe. I thought it was cute on the inside. P R I C E 6$ Bacon cheeseburger. 2.25$ fries R A T I N G 4 stars off because not only did I not like the taste of the food it also made me sick.

Lorie M.

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner here last night. "Chris" working the cash register was so nice and went out of his way to make sure that our order was correct. The food was fantastic ! I ordered a turkey burger with tater tots and jalapeños. A little bit of a picky eater and they completely accommodated my request. My husband loved it. The atmosphere was vivacious and fun. Definitely recommend it!!!!

LaRhonda R.

Yelp
I ordered a small chili cheese fries and it was really small for the size. The chili was bland. Not sure if they were being health conscious or what but it needed some flavor. We also ordered a chipotle burger. It was a regular hamburger with chipotle mayo. Nothing to different in taste. Very simple. The atmosphere was calm, decor was cute. Service was awesome! Very kind associates who brought out your food. I would come back and order something different.
