Local Filipino Pop-Up Competing on ‘The Great Food Truck Race’ | Eater San Diego

"Operated by Spencer Hunter, Hunter’s Home Kitchen is a full-service catering company; the Great Food Truck Race experience has inspired plans to add a mobile division (truck or trailer) in early 2020 as the next stage of the business, with the longer-term goal of moving into a brick-and-mortar storefront by 2021." - Candice Woo

An absolutely outstanding experience! Hunter’s Home exceeded every expectation. From the warm, personable staff who go above and beyond to welcome guests, to the incredible care and detail poured into preserving it as the iconic historical site it is—this is the place to visit in Tahlequah if you want to truly know the area by stepping back in time. The staff’s passion for history, love for the site, and deep reverence for all they steward made my visit completely unforgettable. Their knowledge was so thorough that I felt I could ask anything and leave with a richer, more vivid understanding of the past. Five stars doesn't even express how good this experience was!

Great experience, tour was great and informative without rushing or slowing through the house. Many original furniture and features still remain and interesting to see they’re bringing heritage breeds of farming animals. Staff are very friendly and passionate about the place that’s a big plus.

This wasn't the first time time ive visited this place. It's a guided tour of the house and you can stroll the grounds to check out the spring house and the gardens. The guide was very knowledgeable on the history of the house and the former owners. It's a great place to visit or to take the kiddos to see an actual historic place and learn a little history. Very informative and interesting to see how the people lived in the 1800's. Plus there is a little cabin out back where a guide explains even more about how life was lived back then. If you're in the Tahlequah Oklahoma area It's a must see.!

Wow, we expected to be an hour, and it was 2. The employees here are amazing 👏. The living history explores in and out of the home. Information is interesting and entertaining. As you're being told, you can hear passion and love.

I've been fortunate enough to go through a lot of old homes, This place was unique. You could walk around the room without barriers. You could open cabinets and look at the things on the nightstands. The 2 young lady's that were working at the house when we visited were wonderful. Both were full of local history and knowledge and willing to share

I did a history project at NSU over Hunter's Home and have had the pleasure of talking (through email) with the Historical Interpreter II. She was amazing - sending sources, offering a personal in-person tour, giving an interview, and just all together a fount of information. The fact that she went out of her way to help me when she didn't have to spoke volumes, she is clearly passionate about her work. I also recently visited the site with my sister and nephew and even though the inside was closed, it was still a unique and fun experience. My nephew (who was 4) was actually pointing at the signs and talking about the pictures on them, exploring, and asking questions! The home itself is beautiful, as is the surrounding buildings and land. Not to mention the history of the place! I would definitely recommend seeing it at least once, if not more.

A great place to visit. The grounds are beautiful, and you can tour the old plantation home, and experience 'living history' with people who demonstrate 19th century skills. A nice walking trail, and also areas to picnic with a play area for the kids.

A day well spent learning and admiring this historical gem. We definitely enjoyed the tour around the Cherokee plantation. 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
A special, unique piece of history in Cherokee Nation. My family and I love going, especially during the holidays, when the house is historically decorated to custom. Events on the farm are wonderful too.

Yelp
Another must see of Tahlequah's historical places. There's a museum in the plantation house, a park on the grounds, and an excellent nature trail with a small outdoor theatre in the middle of it. Great for events, but closes at dusk.
