I can't believe this shop was next door the entire time! Best wine shop in the area. They host frequents tastings with a great selection. The staff seem happy, friendly, and knowledgeable. My go to wine shop in the area.

Greg Welsh

Google
This place is all hits no misses. The only miss is not taking advantage of the great staff. They will always lead you to a great bottle for your taste and budget.

Google
I just walked into this very nonchalant liquor store today. I pass by this place all the time and never paid much attention to it. Lo and behold, found a relatively hard to find whiskey and my bottle of Mr. Black (great coffee liquor btw). Eli was so friendly and helpful. This place is just shockingly inconspicuous outside. It's awesome in the inside!! prices are very good (in my opinion) and saves me a trip to astor place for my wine and liquor. I'm just stunned. So happy I have a good local place down the block for wine and spirits instead of manhattan....It's like I'm super mario going into a warp pipe to something I least expected....

Google
Can't believe -- in the 7yrs I've been living in the neighbourhood -- I just discovered hunters point wine & spirits. It looks so tiny from outside, but once you step in.. it's like stepping into Strands but for wine. Private tasting notes accompany a well organized (by region and by price), which made things so easy to navigate. We spent minutes just reading through the notes and being immersed in the space. Prices were right (and some bottles were even better priced than other places around the neighborhood) And what a kind soul Tony is at the desk, offering to help and give any advice. Looking forward to things reopening fully so we can come here often to partake in tasting events!

Google
One of the most welcoming and knowledgeable experiences you can have in a wine shop. Fantastic selection across many price points, plenty of hidden gems to be found. Great staff, I've gotten to enjoy some really fantastic wines with their guidance.

Arjun

Google
Great wine tastings on Thursdays and Fridays. Very knowledgeable and friendly team. Beautifully designed shop with a fantastic collection of spirits.

Google
I finally find perfect wine store. If you live in LIC area don’t lose time on other stores, you will find here wide range of different types of wine(not expensive nice everyday wines , high end wines, and nice liquor as well). Also shoutout to Marko !

Jonathan Morales

Google
Friendly place, a broad variety. When you enter this place, you can feel confident to ask any question. They love what they do, and they have the knowledge to explain to you what is a good wine or what can change.

Yelp
Hunter's Point Wines is my favorite wine shop in NYC. They have a very large selection of quality wines from all over the world at great prices. The staff is kind & knowledgeable, they are readily available to assist with any questions and they have recommended delicious wines based on my preferences on multiple occasions. They are also pet friendly which is a major plus! They deliver within LIC and I love that they have spirit and wine tastings throughout the month. They are definitely my go-to shop for wine, I highly recommend them!

Kenny C.

Yelp
Very very good wine shop! Anything you want, they've got. At great prices too! If you get a white, sparking, or orange wine, chances are they'll have it available chilled as well. Perfect for bringing to the park or to a party. It may look small when you walk in, but there's a whole other room in the back with shelves of wine. I ended up with an Austrian Grüner and a pet-nat orange. Both were fan favorites! Staff is super cool. They also have a respectable liquor selection behind the bar.

Yelp
Easily the best spirits shop in Long Island City and frankly the only one you need to know (I've shopped at all of them). What sets HPWS apart is their careful attention to customer need and the personalized experience that maintains continuity across visits. I've often found myself shopping for an occasion and the team here knows the questions in a shopper's consideration set (taste, occasion i.e. friend's birthday/colleague's birthday, relationship to the individual if it's a gift, how the beverage will be consumed, price point - everything that matters for buying something). You will leave the store with not only a great deal financially but also with a sense of context of what you bringing home with you / gifting which embodies the whole idea of each distillery/winery sharing it's heritage & brand. Marko, Tony and Dakim run a 'tight ship' bringing in old-world favorites but also experimental beverages such as aged whiskies from India (which is actually a thing). Their end-of-week wine tastings are free and always a treat to look forward to - along with their customer service this shop is something every reader of this review should experience in person. Another point noting, this business supports other local businesses and is often found collaborating / promoting local CSAs and other neighbourhood small-business partnerships - this is a big deal that one would only know upon coming into their store. Moreover, it is evident that the team here wants to make sure folks leave feeling happy, something that is becoming increasingly rare across all businesses.

Yelp
I love this spot so much. The staff is incredible knowledgeable and really takes the time to help you find what you're looking for. They've guided me through the right bourbon purchase for a bourbon novice, the best orange liquor for my margaritas, and the perfect red wine for my mood that evening. The selection is great, but that's honestly secondary. The staff is what makes this spot a must-stop.

Paul B.

Yelp
Amazing wine shop! That staff is incredibly helpful and the selection is fantastic. This is everything I'm looking for in a great neighborhood wine shop!

Ricky Z.

Yelp
Clearly the best wine and liquor store in LIC. The staff is super friendly and happy to help with any questions. The prices are good and the space is surprisingly nice inside for a liquor store. This is the place to go for all your boozy needs

Terri T.

Yelp
Wow! Just lucked into this wine and spirits shop after a lovely brunch in LIC at Gantry Bar. We were knocked out by their selections of wines (everyday wines plus "date night" wines). Also their spirits included lots of bourbons and ryes that are unique. So happy to have found this special spot. Will make this our regular go to spot!

Taylor H.

Yelp
I really love this shop and the employees. They are so personable, the store isn't too overwhelming, and their suggestions are spot on. I went in just now and the gentleman behind the counter greeted me immediately and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. I mentioned that I just got a new book, and was looking for a nice white wine in the $20 range to enjoy while reading outside. I gave truly one of the least useful descriptions of what I was looking for (hi can you pair my book with some wine??), but he managed to find the perfect bottle for me! I always get a little self conscious looking for new wines, but I felt so welcome and he spoke to me in language I could easily grasp. Thank you!

Joe S.

Yelp
This is my favorite liquor store in NYC, and I'm lucky it's right in my neighborhood. Top notch selections, always enthusiastic staff with perfect wine suggestions in every budget, and rare bottles to supplement any wine or liquor interest. It's our place to buy both our daily drinkers and our splurge bottles. Speaking of splurge bottles, as a bourbon drinker, this place is always a great spot to find both rarities and sleeper hit bottles. I also get great everyday bottles of bourbon at a great price, and regulars get access to great allocated when it comes in. Lots of surprises every shipment. This store is a true labor of love with a passionate crew that I'm happy to support.

Eric K.

Yelp
Good selection of wines, and a knowledgeable staff. Daki was able to recommend some great wine even with very vague preferences and I look forward to coming back to get more recs in the future!

Louise D.

Yelp
They are too pricey for my taste. We really need a place with more sprits than wine. Not every one is a wine drinker. The location is rather large we are pretty happy. A $20 bottle of Goose was way overpriced. The customer service gets 5 stars because they were really nice to use. BTW don't be fooled they have a huge selection of wine in the back of the store.

Ju L.

Yelp
One of the more beautiful wine shops in the city, all light woods and towering walls lined with bottles. It felt like cavernous archives of libations waiting to be explored (in contrast to many luxe wine shops, which are more like museums of untouchable wines). We picked up a bottle of sherry I'd never seen before from a sherry producer I know well. Reasonably priced at $15. The staffmember who helped us was friendly and apologized humorously for some incorrect info he gave. There are only a few wine/liquor stores in the neighborhood, but I'd choose to return to this one.

Cara R.

Yelp
I always walk out with a great bottle (or bottles). The staff is lovely and always on point with their recommendations. Great wines in every price range.

Ref R.

Yelp
Had not been here in at least 8-10 years... Same nice place Same good selection of everything Same CRAPPY customer service and attitude from the staff At least they are consistent...hence the two stars Keep using the home delivery or the other stores in lic

Andrew B.

Yelp
I love this wine shop and I love it's proximity to the 7 train. The staff here is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. As someone who enjoys wine but does not know a lot about wine, this store is the best. The staff takes time to listen to what it is you enjoy and proceeds to make recommendations they think you would enjoy. They have very budget friendly options and never push expensive bottles their recommendations are truly what they believe you would enjoy. Great spot, good prices I highly recommend.

Jen W.

Yelp
This wine shop is an absolute gem!! The owners are friendly and knowledgeable. Hunter's Point offers a wide variety of wine from great deals to Dom Perignon. They are also extremely dog friendly offering treats and water for your four legged friend. They even have an Instagram that features dogs in the shop. Hunter's Point also delivers in the area. I've had champagne at my door with in fifteen minutes of placing an order on the phone. This is by far the best wine shop in the area!

Ron P.

Yelp
Love this spot knowledgeable, professional, friendly great selection. This is my new GO-TO. Give them a shot, you won't be disappointed #thesetupnewyork

Haley H.

Yelp
My favorite wine shop! Everybody here is extremely helpful and friendly . They always make great suggestions . They also have a great selection ! Would definitely recommend stopping by if in the area .

Diana A.

Yelp
Huge selection of wines and the BEST customer service! I've come by several times and each time they've given me amazing recommendations. They never try to push the most expensive bottles at you, on the contrary, when I told them I needed a white wine to cook with and then just drink the one glass that would be left they recommended a $10 bottle and said it was perfect for cooking. I went in after work today (after having a pretty crappy day at work) and asked for a recommendation for a Cabernet...Marco pointed out two options and similar price points, I asked him which he would drink and he was honest. He said both were good but he preferred the one over the other overall. I trusted him, spent the $30 on the bottle and it is hands down one of the BEST bottles of Cabernet I've ever had the pleasure of drinking. Thank you thank you!!!!

Vivian H.

Yelp
A nice curated and attentive wine shop. I must say, not all wine shops are made equal in quality and customer service. I hate walking into a wine shop already knowing that the person behind the counter couldn't give two hoots if you enjoyed the bottle of wine you bought from their store. That definitely was not the case here. I had a very friendly salesman greet me and asked if he could help me. Since I already spied the bottle of white wine (2006 Domaine Salvard Cheverny) I liked, I just asked if they had it chilled. Lo and behold, they did! Now that is awesome! Some times you can't always get the white wine you like chilled, so this place gets brownie points for that. The sales guy was chatty and also told me about Friday night tastings. Very cool, since I don't work too far from the area. Would be a great bridge into Friday night debauchery LOL. But a great wine shop on the busy strip of Vernon Blvd, where all the hot new places are popping up. Great stop before going to a BYOB dinner down the street!

Steven S.

Yelp
Really nice wine store. One of those places where everything you pick out tends to be really good value for the money. Also always seems to have the wines you had somewhere else and remember being quite good. Also a pretty deep selection and definitely the best in this area. Descriptions on most of the wines are super helpful so you know what you are buying and aren't forced to ask for help (though they are happy to give it). Big refrigerator if you need a white/bubbles for tonight. My only negative (maybe its not a negative) really is at least by memory don't expect to find every brand name Moet owned champagne.

Eric D.

Yelp
Well-curated selection and a lovely space (if the entrance is now obscured by scaffolding), but prices are around 20% higher than MSRP for most wines and also are higher than the other wine shop on Vernon Ave. and Center Blvd.

Jenn S.

Yelp
I LOVE this shop. When I build my dream house one of these days, this is the wine cellar I'm having in my house dammit! The owner as well as his staff are super nice and so knowledgeable that it's a pleasure to actually interact with the them. Any time I'm in need of something special for an occasion I come here first because I can describe the gift receiver and what they like and immediately they can point out exactly what I need. And they give you options in a few price points as well instead of just trying to sell the more high end stuff. Once I needed a celebratory champagne for a friend who tends to stick to beer and they recommended one that had similar taste qualities of a pilsner...come on I don't know many shops who can do that nor stock something like that! And the bottle was HUGE hit! They also do some fantastic tastings in-store as well.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
I walk a bit more every time to buy wine at this place. They offer a wide variety of wines and excellent expertise. We tell them what we will be eating l, and they match our meals with perfection. The owners are extremely knowledgeable, and I leave each time having learned about different flavors and regions. Plus, they will keep track of the wines you buy so that you can look them up next time.

Bryan M.

Yelp
Exceeds Expectations. We have waited a year to submit a review so not to review on first impressions. After stopping by at least once a week, and also placing orders for parties and special occasions, I'm confident to finally make a recommendation. When you come in person, you'll consistantly find the people working here very willing and able to help you find what you need, and also informed to help when making a wine choice for dinner and your guests taste. A typical experience... I stopped by one afternoon before the 4th of July and realized that I needed more than I could carry, they simply offered to deliver everything we needed wether chilled or not, delivering it at a time that was perfect for US. All done with a warm friendly approach. Their Delivery as spot on Time and offered to bring more of whatever we needed and all we needed to do was call. Several times we placed special orders as gifts to friends and family. The Deliveries were made so fast they beat my local food delivery! We received calls from friends and family telling us how wonderful the people were who made the deliveries. There are closer Wine and Liquor stores to our home, but we will continue to order from here because the service and the prices are the best! Thanks Anthony and everyone here for choosing to be better than the rest!

Jacqulyn L.

Yelp
This wine store is the best! It's selection is extensive while still being affordable. The owners are very knowledgeable, helpful, and all around great. I highly recommend asking their advice and grappling a bottle from them!

Meghan K.

Yelp
Really disappointed in the customer service here. The man acted annoyed and didn't want our business. There are better liquor stores that will appreciate your business!

Ariel C.

Yelp
Quite surprised by the poor customer service experience I received here. The gentleman was not socially approachable, due to his negative attitude. When I asked questions, I was given sarcastic tones and condescending responses. Im ashamed to admit that I am disappointed by the business.

Carl B.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot. Never been steered wrong with a recommendation. Reasonable prices. Expert, friendly staff. Frequent, thoughtful, free tastings. And they introduced me to the joys of Macedonian wine. A real LIC treasure.

Edith G.

Yelp
I'm new to the area and was looking for a wine shop that would be on my way home. At first I went to the wine store on Center Blvd but after discovering this place there's no reason to go anywhere else. The staff is always friendly and recommends great bottles within your price range. I usually get a few bottles at a time ranging from $8 to $35. They don't carry many mainstream labels which I love. Their Friday night wine tasting is also the best I have ever had. If you're not in the mood for wine they have a large selection of bourbon. We will definitely be checking those out once it gets cold again. Love this place and I'm so glad I found it!

Jessica G.

Yelp
This little shop is truly a hidden gem. I stumbled upon it while exploring L.I.C, I live right over the bridge in Greenpoint and have always wanted to know more about what's in this little area of Queens. When you walk in the owner, Paul, is quick to greet and make sure you have a little conversation with him. He's so knowledgeable and he can pick out the perfect bottle of wine. Even if you don't quite know what you're looking for, as I usually am! I'm no wine connoisseur but every bottle of wine that Paul has suggested has turned out to be excellent and I feel I learn a little bit more with each taste. He hosts free tastings every Thursday and Friday night. I'm going for the first time tonight so I'll update but I'm sure it will be excellent. And not only does he have an excellent collection of wines but he also carries great spirits, most that you won't find at your corner no-name liquor store. If you find yourself in L.I.C make sure you stop by.

Evan R.

Yelp
This store is a bit quirky. The owner is super knowledgeable but also lurks behind the desk like a super-villain. There is often an employee working as well, who will follow you around through the store answering questions. Quirks aside, the service is definitely on point. These guys know their stuff, and there is a great selection of wines from all the important regions of the world. Several times I have had bottles recommended that I loved, and they have a lot of niche bottles for a relatively small store. I have never been to a wine tasting there, but they have a nice little table/bar set up in the back and it looks like it would be a great time. They also have a large wall behind the register with a decent liquor selection, and a good amount of bourbon, in particular. This is the only wine store I've been to in the neighborhood but I would imagine it's the best.

Sandra L.

Yelp
When I was in the neighborhood visiting a friend and stumbled upon this great wine shop. After that, whenever I'm in the area, I usually pick up a bottle or three while I'm there. A great selection and clean and airy decor. There're many hard to find wines as well. The owner, Paul is really friendly and helpful and his dog, Nutmeg is just adorable. Nice addition to the store. Something to look for while you're there is a stone-walled tunnel, resembling a cellar that leads to the back, where most wines are displayed. But, what sets this passage apart is the art collection of pottery. You get to buy a bottle of wine and see art while you're there. If you're passing by this area and getting thirsty, be sure to stop by and pick up a bottle or two.

Veronica W.

Yelp
5 star service and recommendations every time I come to this place. They have a large room in the back I never knew was there until today. They let me have a taste of a bottle they had opened and I walked out with two great recommendations. I've been here once before and always have great service. Highly recommend great selections!

Jon S.

Yelp
Super friendly service and great selection. Also they gift wrapped my nice bottle of Rye!

Peter K.

Yelp
I was happy to come into here after my brunch at Blend across the street. It is definitely proportioned to red lovers from Europe. Someone mentioned curated below me and I would say it is similar to a gallery but for wine. Everything nicely displayed. A little hard to find something specific for the size of the store, but the owner was very helpful. Decently priced wine. Some hard to finds stored in the shelves which I was happy to see. Liquor was anywhere $5-20 more a bottle here then elsewhere. Overall- Nice store, good product, nice staff.

Heather B.

Yelp
Love this shop! Staff is incredibly knowledgable and always eager to help. They also keep your name on file (if you'd like) and can offer recommendations based on what you've ordered and liked in the past. Prices, for wine at least, are always fair.

Jonathan F.

Yelp
Paul's shop is a real winner. When looking for a low priced wine for Tuesday dinner or something special for clients, Paul always comes through. His picks are pretty fantastic. The man his knows food, wine and spirits. We have actually gone over menus together so he can pick the proper wine. Doesn't get better than that. Oh yes it does. I am a bourbon fan and Paul has introduced me to some incredible stuff. I am a chef, a bourbon drinker and wine pig. I approve this message.

Yelp
We have been living in LIC now for over 8 years. Right across the fire department, so it was pretty clear that Paul's shop has always been our home base for wine. So we know the store as nearly as long as he opened. Paul was a personality on Vernon Boulevard based on you love him or you hate him. I never had problem with him because as little Frenchy in LIC I do think I know just a little bit about wine my American wife had indeed more difficulties to adjust to his incredible knowledge. however it needs to be said that he was one of the first who took the risk to open in a location that nobody, have thought at that time that it will ever turn to an upper east side extension. Only for that reason and the fact that he went through hard times, he always tried to make the best out of everything. He found the strength to build up an incredible team at his store to achieve the dream he had to ad something special to the community. The selection is great and even if surely not the Best bargain in LIC for wine and liquor he only deserves to be successful for himself and the people that works for him now because they are all lovely and great. Was this review ...?

Rebecca K.

Yelp
First time buyer - I called for a last minute delivery order on Monday and Marko was so wonderful and helpful! Not only was he patient enough to describe a few wines for me, he was honest about the quality of what he was or was not recommending. Bonus: the gentleman who delivered the case of wine was also super pleasant and gracious. I will definitely try to find ways to order from here again.

Ryan S.

Yelp
I love this little wine store in my neighborhood. The owner, Paul, and his staff choose their wines carefully and I've never been disappointed - even with bottles under $10. The staff is pretty real without nonsense. The lack of BS, might rub some people the wrong way, but it's right up my alley. In an increasingly globalized world, I feel very comfortable giving my business to a mom and pops store. Especially a good one.

Jon D.

Yelp
Great selection for collectors and discerning drinkers. Everyone there is helpful and friendly.

Karen K.

Yelp
This place has a huge selection of wines in every price range, but the best thing about it are the three new owners. (The old owner retired.) They're warm, wonderful people who do their best to help customers figure out what wines to purchase and who make everyone who comes into the shop feel comfortable. Their Thursday and Friday evening tastings are terrific because I learn about wines from almost every place in the world and get to taste wines ranging in prices from $13 to $35.

Lindsey R.

Yelp
Great wine store. Paul, the owner is friendly and helpful. Sign up for their emails, get invited to all sorts of wine seminars and tastings. Finally a beautiful little wine store in Queens.

Ben S.

Yelp
Paul's taste and erudition have never steered me wrong. He's a fountain of knowledge about wine and spirits, and this warm, beautifully set-up little store is always my first stop when I need a bottle. This shop is a true asset to Long Island City.

Kurtis P.

Yelp
Perfect for LIC. Great little spot if you're looking for something but don't really know what it is. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and gladly answers all your questions and makes recommendations if you need them. Not a bad choice made here. Very reasonably priced, which is more than can be said for other stores in the area who think because they're in NY they can charge astronomically. This place has the full package and worth a stop in when you're looking for a bottle of something that you need some help finding.

Michelle Z.

Yelp
Love this place!! It's a recent discovery for me, just walked in after dinner around the corner one night and I am so happy I did! They do tastings on Thursday and Friday nights so be sure to stop by for that. I don't really know too much about wine but have really liked their suggestions so far. Much more helpful than Blue Streak. Even gave my dog a treat when I brought him in today.

Ian T.

Yelp
Paul is amazing, and his presence is what makes this store so great. His passion for wine exudes into a wonderful customer experience. Hunter's Point sells an unusual collection of wines you're unlikely to see elsewhere, at prices which cannot be described as "discount". But for the price you get acces to an unbelievable store of knowledge. Go in and ask Paul about any bottle in the place, and odds are he can talk about it for half an hour. He may even have pictures of the vines! Ask for a wine to match a particular meal you have planned, and again, he will perform. As other reviewers have noted. Hunter's Point Wines and Spirits is a huge credit to Long Island City and an invaluable resource. Thanks Paul!

Chad P.

Yelp
LIC is a better place for the simple fact that Paul and this shop are in town. A great selection of New and Old World Wines (including my favorite Pinot's from Oregon). Also, if you're ever in doubt just ask Paul for a rec. He is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and has never pointed me to a bad wine. Just a great shop that I will be visiting for years to come.
