"Hid away in an indiscreet location in a strip mall, this no-frills bar is more than meets the eye. Grab a few buckets of beers and watch the games, play shuffleboard, and hang out on the patio out back where you can score pork chops and ribeyes on Thursdays. With more low-key house party energy than your average watering hole, this dive is a great spot to mellow out and grab some cheap drinks." - Sean Hekmat

Small cozy bar with welcoming bartender/staff and nice customers. Clean with a pretty good outdoor deck in the back. I can imagine the place packed on weekends and during sporting events. Probably go back on a Thursday to try their rib eyes during steak night! Regular shuffleboard & pool tournaments as well!

I've been coming here for years. I love this place and their sister bar. Enjoy the neighborhood atmosphere and always a good time here.

I've been coming here for years, spent more money at the owner's other locations than most average patrons, and the quality of service had fallen drastically. Waited an hour tonight for a rare steak that never came, and the waitress never came back to check on us after we first ordered. Received only an argument from the staff with no apology. Won't be back.

One of my favorite low key places to go. Nice people and the drinks are good.

ANGELA is GREAT the VIBES are immaculate. Met the owner on my first visit she was very hands on with her staff I over heard her talking. It's a great place thus far, I'm new the community and everyone has been so welcoming .. Oh Angela also told me the ins and out of the establishment including where patio is located... Also. . She told me about the steak night plate featuring Ribeye as well as Pork Chop. I'm so glad I found a neighborhood bar. Thank you Hunters Pub.

Google
Thursday night is the best here. We happened to find this place my mistake but the staff made us feel right at home. Thursday bbq serving rib eye steaks or pork chop dinner for $14 was amazing. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Can't wait until we come back to Houston.

Steak night on Thursdays. Great customers and wonderful staff!

Josh Y.

Yelp
This place puts the "dive" in dive bar. But the steaks on Thursday night steak night are excellent and affordable. The service is affable. Drinks are reasonable. And the outdoor patio is actually ok despite the busy street nearby and strip mall location. I wouldn't go here for drinks, not my scene. But the thursday night steak night is incredibly popular for a reason. 5 stars for that.

Yelp
I can't say I'm a regular here. This dive bar has been a neighborhood institution for decades. I think I snuck in a couple times in high school in the early 90's. All the Bellaire kids were doing it. Since then I've only been maybe twice . My friend's daughter plays in a band and they often play on the back patio. They bring in a huge crowd and it's a great time! They have steak night and if karaoke is your thing, well they have that too. Just visit their FB page for more details. Like I mentioned, totally a dive neighborhood bar. No frills, just good people .

Yelp
Very nice neighborhood bar in Myerland/Westbury area great service nice people. I spent St Patrick's Day there had a blast

Yelp
Decent place. A hole in the wall. Not bad. The smell can be gross sometimes. Also, watch out for the thugs they keep allowing back in. But the music, out door patio, and parking isn't bad. Keep an eye on your drink and purse or wallet at all times (like any other place). Bartenders aren't bad unless the really big girl with long hair is there. I wasn't even drunk and she cut me off and was super rude saying she didn't have to explain herself. But I was a bartender at the time and I know the rules and criteria and I fit none of them. I had only had a couple of drinks. Watch out for the sleazy men who typically take over the pool table. One is named Daniel and the other is Brandon. If you hear of them being there, stay away from those wannabe thugs. They're gross and I've seen them get handsy with people or get violent. Just watch your back, enjoy your drinks, and enjoy the back porch

Tamatha R.

Yelp
Great people great place to wind down! Very friendly staff and customers and patio for smoking and chilling!

Veronica A.

Yelp
Enter the red door. You know you want to! Drinks are great. Skye, Theresa, and Beverly are my ladies! Karaoke nights, bingo on Monday, and steak on Thursday. If you're sensitive and don't like being around people who treat you like an old war buddy then this place isn't for you. Plenty of young people attend as well. Also, if you get "assaulted" by regulars then you probably deserved it.

James G.

Yelp
Fantastic. Beautiful ladies. Well run establishment. I would definitely recommend this bar before and after church.

Steven G.

Yelp
I've been coming here on and off for the last 10 years, and never got noticed or acknowledged until last year. I recently went to Cozy's Corner Monday, bad experience. Bartender and vibe could of been a lot better. One of the customers were talking about the rock music I was playing, and I'm thinking why is this person that's drinking Taka vodka and cranberry, that probably can't even take care of the bartender complaining? So I didn't say anything, I tipped the bartender 100% like usual and left. Fast forward to today. Today I went to Hunters got a bad experience from the cocktail waiter. Caucasian, skinny, dark hair, very Big glasses. Teresa and Anna ALWAYS give me amazing service!!! FYI everybody else not so much when it comes to me. I've spent a lot of money over the years here, and tipped even more. So this will be my last time here.

Yelp
Ask for Esme's panani and you won't be disappointed! Esme is the best ever ! Come alone or with a party Esme will make sure you will have fun !

Yelp
This was my first time to visit Hunter's. I moved into the area just before the end of the world and did not have the opportunity to stop in. Passing by the location nearly everyday when searching for my next career move, I would see this solid door in the back corner of a small strip center, wondering just how small of a place this was. The big day was Friday night, my friend and I stopped in for one drink about 7 pm or so. When walking up to this very intimidating solid door I was expecting a hired greeter, but no none of the first words I have accepted as normal no "ID!" No "WAIT OUTSIDE IN THE HEAT"BECAUSE THERE ARE 2 people a head of you (and the capacity was well over 100, there was no "WE DO NOT HAVE A PUBLIC BATHROOM" Instead I heard from one employee, "Gentleman you must be new, How you ever been here before?" Then the soul bartender came to a complete stop and said " welcome to OUR bar!!!" In less than 60 seconds on a Friday at prime time not one but TWO staff members made sure that we knew that they knew we were there and they were happy about it! They gave a brief history and a guided tour! Within a few minutes the other server came and did the same. These three staff members were talking to us As if we were old friends and very very respectfully but also very down to earth. First Thank you to OUR servers Josel & Kayla awesome service! And thank you to OUR Bartender Theresa! PLEASE NOTE the pronouns used, there was no mistake these were not employees, not a few waitresses and a bartender, it was clear we were their GUESTS and they were OUR servers & Bartender. This level of hospitality I mean genuine hospitality, not the memorized quotes from a training manual that probably originated with Dale Carnage ("seek first t understand, then to be understood") these are excellent words of wisdom but when you have them taught to you by a drill Sargent trainer, it was great to hear, feel, and see sincerity and made to feel welcome, and that they were thankful for our presence, for the first time in a very very long time as guest I felt that I was important enough to the business to make sure they made a first impression my friend and I would not soon forget, if at all! Let's review.. how long had my friend and planned to stay? The time of one drink (about an hour having arrive around 7 we are planning on being hone by 8:30 or 9 at the latest) well these ladies, true professionals made us feel so welcome and comfortable it was 4 am before Don Julio got us home. GO TO HUNTER'S PUB, IT ROCKS! Don't call just go you will not regret it!!! Thank you guys!

Rose C.

Yelp
Really nice staff. Reasonable prices on drinks and a very nice patio. Not too crowded so covid friendly. Some of the singers on karaoke night are not too bad.

Ilene M.

Yelp
Fav Houston hideaway! Thursday steak night is super fun with a great steak for almost nothing! Love the bartenders and staff. I definitely recommend visitors to stop by. You will be welcome by us all. Many, many regular Bellaire HS alums hang out here! Not sure how that happened, but it has.

Clint M.

Yelp
Decent neighborhood bar off South Post Oak. It's tucked away in the corner of a small shopping center with a ton of pot holes and has a bit of a divey feel to it. The majority of the crowd skews older. I'm not certain, but I wouldn't be surprised if the only people-- besides my girlfriend and I-- who were under 40 were the staff. The under-40 crowd besides us were all female and moving around quite a bit, much like cocktail waitresses do. I've been here twice and it's been a good experience both times. The first time the place was a bit dead and dark, but the second visit was a lot more lively. The music just really doesn't seem to fit the place-- a lot of rap and R&B-- and the drinks came out a lot lighter than I'm used to. That said, service is friendly, prices are reasonable, and they have something going on every weekday.

Lauri L.

Yelp
Are you looking for a place to get an outstanding steak??? Look no further!!! Ivan Moreno, the Pit Master at Hunter's Pub on Thursday nights, makes the best damn steak I've ever tasted!! (It makes my mouth water just writing about it!!) The meat is cooked to perfection every time! Chargrilled on the outside and juicy and pink on the inside. The flavor is out of this world!! I'd put this steak up against any of the high dollar steakhouses any day!! You also get a salad and a potato. Hunter's offers a great neighborhood bar atmosphere. There is a pool table and shuffleboard. The staff is fast and friendly. There is a large patio out back with televisions and plenty of tables!! Plus, there is karaoke every Thursday night. I highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for a fantastic steak, at a reasonable price in a fun and casual atmosphere.

Yelp
Great place to get assaulted!! I was here celebrating being with my best friends as we don't get together to often. My best friends are my brothers. It was the anniversary of my friends fathers passing, as we were crying and hugging and as I head to the bathroom a woman who has been harassing me all night about not being of age asked me again for my id. when I am 22 years of age... (she doesn't work there just a customer) after the 6th time of her harassing me I dismissed her off and waved as I walked away and she followed me to my table and her and her husband assaulted us and kicked us out. The bouncers also hurt us while we were simply trying to walk out they always side with regulars over first timers no matter what happens. They hurt my disabled friend punching him in the gut and face even after I explained he was disabled. Great place to get assaulted. Dangerous low life customers, and dangerous area. My dad has seen 3 fights in the parking lot out front where we were assaulted. This is a horrible bar never coming back.

David L.

Yelp
I went back tonight for the Thursday Night Steak Night. They had a new bbq cook at grill. Tonight was his first night. He did a great job. My steak was tender, juicy, and well marinated. I hope to go again soon. I took my wife. She enjoyed her steak too.

Mack M.

Yelp
Was in town for a conference and wanted a divey bar for a couple drinks. But they apparently don't like 'people like me' there. No ramp to even get in.

Martha D.

Yelp
Hunters Pub is a awesome friendly place to hang out meeting nice people enjoying everybody company

Kenneth Z.

Yelp
I saw this highly rated bar on yelp and decided to check it out with a couple friends. Upon entering, I felt this would be a decent watering hole, however the service here was sub-par. I asked the bartender what specials were on for the night, and they mentioned 6 beers for 5. However, once I decided upon a beer, they told me "No." with no other explanation, which was confusing and a little frustrating. After a little back and forth I finally figured that the beer I wanted was not available for the special and decided on a mediocre beer and sat out at the back patio. Near the end of our stay, another altercation occurred between my friend and the bartender. Apparently, our very docile yorkie was too much of a disturbance while on the patio in the arms of the dog owner, and we were asked to leave very impolitely. This is an alright watering hole, but the bar tenders are not very friendly. I won't be returning as I know there are much better bars around the area.

Lucretia C.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood (Willowbend area) bar. Visited Thurs. night , Steak Night)! Great deal, comfortable for us girlfriends. Great grilled steak & baked potato, green beans, southern good cooking! Will be going more!

Trish E.

Yelp
Was running early for a party in that neighborhood and decided to drop in here for a quick drink. My sister was terrified because of the appearance from the outside and almost would not go in with me. Me being a veteran of the seediest, diviest bars I can find was ready to roll up in and have a drink. Turns out, even princess sister pants felt at home. The place was immaculate, the drinks were cheap and the back patio area was as cute as could be. I do not live in Houston, but this will be one of my new go to spots when I am in town. Looks like a perfect place to catch an Astros game on the TV. Also, the shuffleboard table looked awesome- an unfortunate rarity now days as most places use cornmeal and not the actual wax " sand" that a good solid shuffleboard deserves.

Mike F.

Yelp
Wax sand shuffle board, friendly staff, cool as sheet locals and an awesome Thursday night Steak Night for cheap. Good drink prices and an awesome rustic outdoor patio. All within spitting distance of the Med Center, Meyerland and Bellaire. It is Cheers meets South East Texas white and blue collar southern hospitality.

BR B.

Yelp
Sweet dive bar. I have lived 1 light away from this place for 15yrs and walked in for the first time last week. Nice people and super LOW prices Will definitely be making a regular stops into this place

Megadeath P.

Yelp
Home away from home! This is definitely my "Cheers." Staff has been there for quite some time and they all know you personally. During the day, the atmosphere is very laid back consisting of the older regulars who are all really nice. The evenings pick up more and the younger crowd comes in to play pool, etc. Again they are more regulars too and they always make you feel at home. It's easy to make "bar friends" but I can genuinely say I have made good friends from out of here. Everyone looks out for everyone. Very happy to have found this place when I first moved here.

Arturo P.

Yelp
Thursday Night is Steak Night. a whole in the wall with the best service in town..... thursday night is the night. make sure you arrive by 7 p.m. if you get there later you will not have the pleasure of enjoying a 10 oz steak with a Baked potato and a salad. a perfectly grill steak while you sit in the Patio Deck enjoying a Bucket of beers.

Houston S.

Yelp
Great owner, she is very respectful and understanding. The customers that are in there are very nice hard working people that like to enjoy life as they live. Most of the employees are very down to earth and nice people as well. The place is just like those bars that you see in movies where it is hidden but great people and fun exist. The drink are cheap and at a reasonable price. Their steaks, i have to say, are very delicious and better than a lot of restaurants. It's a nice cozy place especially during the winter to hang out and not have idiots wanting to start a fight. Love it

Michael W.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite neighborhood bars- the woman who owns Hunter's Pub also owns the Cozy Corner. The waitresses and bartenders always try to remember your name and the internet jukebox isn't half ass bad. Drinks are always very reasonably priced. Monday you get a free burger with purchase and Thursday is steak night, which might I add is thebomb.com!

Catherine Y.

Yelp
I love their Thursday night steak night. Worth the trip and if you stay for karaoke at 8:30 pm its entertaining. The area is scary but i go with friends and have enjoyed it every time.

Sprinkle 4.

Yelp
I've lived around the corner from Hunter's Pub since 2011. Finally my wife and I decided to stop in and try this neighborhood bar. Boy were we disappointed. Although the beer was cold the staff and patrons were extremely rude. Not welcoming to new people. I do not recommend this place.

John K.

Yelp
One of the best local community bars in Houston, and I've been to many.

Carla A.

Yelp
Great place for Thursday night date night. It's steak night. The food is really good the bar is clean and the people are friendly! Best of all the drink price's are reasonable!

Griff G.

Yelp
Imagine visiting a small town and going to the only bar in town. Now imagine that bar is in Houston, TX. That is Hunter's Pub. Retro sports memorabilia, pool table, karaoke, shuffle board, steak night, and loads of everything. If you wear a shirt with sleeves, consider yourself overdressed. Good place to get hammered and make bad decisions for dirt cheap. Grinder mouth.

David B.

Yelp
Another Jewel of a dive bar in our beloved city. Expect the most eclectic crowd you've ever seen. Featuring an amazing shuffleboard table, mediocre pool table, and decorations from someones birthday party two years ago, this is you spot for a low key night and buckets of Bud light. Hungry?? Hit up the free Nacho Bar. That's right salty chips and fake cheese for free. Sign your buddy up to sing "The Ballad of Chasey Lane", the quaint crowd will not be disappointed. Step out back to find a surprisingly nice patio and have a smoke. Nestled between a rim shop and a crappy furniture store, brave your way inside and you wont be disappointed.

Kittie G.

Yelp
Went for the "awesome " steak. Lol just expect well done, then ya have to get up and go inside for your utensils and microwaved potato fixins. And my waitress never came back. It's a good drunk place but that's it.

Roxy R.

Yelp
i live a few minutes away from hunter's pub and have been there a handful of times so far. the atmosphere is really chill, and i guess it'd be considered a dive. the crowd is very eclectic and fun :) i like the back porch - it's the best place to relax with your friends and your favorite drink. the staff is great :) we always have the same waitress helping us out, and she is super sweet. the drinks are extremely well priced...and i haven't tried the food yet, but they have a free "nacho bar" that comes in handy when you've got the drunk munchies!

Chad W.

Yelp
If you like neighborhood dive bars like me, then Hunter's Pub is fabulous. You have to also like weird people coming and talking to you. If you go there enough like I do, you will eventually meet crazy, sincere vets, loony wannabe martial artists, very drunk old women, interesting married women, and sobbing women who don't want to go back to their boyfriend's house. It's a microcosm, to be sure. Just don't expect something that the Hunter's Pub is not. It is not a cocktail bar.: they can pour a highball, but they don't know what a Manhattan is. It is not a restaurant: they will give you free, homemade chili with jalapenos, but there's no menu to order from. It is not a sports bar: there are plenty of TVs, but they are all quiet. In other words, I love the place and go there all the time. Bucket of beer for $15? Make it two.

Theresa B.

Yelp
I not only work here, but I started out as the Karaoke person 12 yrs. ago..........Everyone is so friendly we are all like family because we have all known each other for all these yrs. Something is always going on... Tues. free chili dogs all day Wed. open mic night, Thurs. steak night and Karaoke, Fri. night free food and pool tourny @ 5:30 ( anyone welcome to join in ) Fri. also karaoke night. Sat. live bands.....................Book a function here we decorate for the occasion and cater to your party......

Daniele V.

Yelp
Thursday night steaks make a perfect laid back date night :) the drinks are pretty cheap and the service is friendly!

Ali D.

Yelp
Me and my friends had no idea this was an old people bar. We were between the ages of 21 and 24, and everyone stared at us when we came in. We were looking for a cheap small bar for after work drinks. We got a rum punch for $9 and it was really good. The waitress is really nice, the only reason we wouldn't come back is because it's not a place for adults in their 20s lol

Beau B.

Yelp
Great Shuffleboard, Friendly staff and cheap drinks. Better bring your A-Game if you are going to play pool though......Locals Bar

Nikki R.

Yelp
Hunter's Pub really surprised me. It has the small town feel I grew up with, yet its right sown the street from my home in Meyerland. I had a wonderful time at the bar chatting with a friend, and snacking on free nuts and cheddar bunnies! The bartender was super awesome too.

Steven V.

Yelp
This is my local neighborhood dive bar and it is awesome. The staff is friendly, they have a great shuffleboard table, and the juke box has pretty good tunes. Oh yeah, and the drinks are very inexpensive. On top of all that, the place has a nice deck in the back when the weather is nice. It's not your typical bar, but it's worth checking out .
