This hometown gem had been hiding right before my eyes. I became an amateur painter in retirement a few years ago. For over 40 years, I had NO IDEA what was inside until 2020 when I discovered it, immediately joined the Huntington Beach Art Center Artist Council, and as soon as I could, began to exhibit my paintings there . . . with great success! I urge folks to visit this dreary old Edison Company building that's been made into a 3,000 square foot, 4-gallery exhibit space. Upon entering one may feel they've been plucked out of their life and dropped into another environment! The interior is exquisitely clean and beautiful! The range of art is always very broad and deep, from 2-dimensional art of all kinds to installation art that hangs spectacularly from the high ceilings to sculpture and more imaginative and creative things than I can describe. I seriously encourage you to visit their website, check their hours and find the time to take it in. The staff are friendly. The art is terrific. Whether you're a casual looker or a collector, it's always a pleasant, sometimes exciting experience, depending on your zest for art. New exhibits start every few months, so there's always something new going on. The current showing runs until Dec. 16, 2023. A new exhibit opens in January. A little "art shop" is just off the lobby. It usually shows smaller, less expensive art pieces that might make wonderful holiday gifts. Always worth a look - at least a few times a year! It's free! Go look!!
