"Used as the city’s downtown mass vaccination site, this convention-center location is where eligible Detroit residents and employees can receive COVID-19 shots. Eligibility includes adults 18+ whose jobs require regular in-person work within the city and Detroit residents working in the city or suburbs — specifically Detroit office workers, members of the media, and hair and nail salon staff — with food service workers having been prioritized earlier; Michigan has also expanded eligibility for people 16+ with certain high-risk medical conditions and, as of April 5, to additional Michigan residents age 16 and older. The Detroit Health Department plans to offer on-site vaccinations to companies with at least 100 employees working together in person as part of efforts to protect returning office workers and restaurant staff amid rising local positivity and recent COVID-19 deaths.
