As Professor Julie Ponesse's students from her philosophy 2074 class, I feel sad that she left. She taught us critical thinking rather than being influenced by media. We need to consider whether the university's decision can save students' life. (This is similar to philosopher Philippa Foot's Trolley problem.)
Also, the university's decision doesn't affect its quality of education. Therefore, we can not judge whether we should choose this university simply because of the firing of its professor. In fact, the university makes this decision because it wants to protect it students, faculty member, and staff. I have some friends who died due to COVID-19 (one of them is a Huron student), and so far, getting vaccinated is the most effective way to protect us.
