Google
Super cute little ice cream food cart. My kiddo has the chocolate chip and I had the pumpkin. They were both delicious. The pumpkin really puts the spice in pumpkin spice. The staff are incredibly friendly and the ice cream was delicious. Definitely check them out next time you’re in Sellwood!

Google
What a great stop after dinner (at nearby Jade) and what an amazing treat! Can recommend the Orange Blossom and Madagascar Vanilla! Waffle cones were a delicious option, they also had bowls and pints on request! We will definitely hurry back and try more flavors!

Dana C.

Google
The service was friendly and we didn’t have to wait long, but that was about all this place had going for it. Unfortunately, the ice cream itself just didn’t do it for us and I was very surprised by the 4.8 rating. We tried four different flavors, and while none were bad, they were all lacking in both flavor and texture that sets truly great homemade ice cream apart. If you have an egg allergy, this might be a solid option. Otherwise, it felt like something was missing. Needless to say, we won't be "hurrying back."

Kristi

Google
Owner was extremely rude. Terrible customer service. We showed up an hour before closing and asked if he was still open (window was closed but he was still there working). He said "Well, the window is closed, the awning is down and I'm emptying the garbage. Do I look open to you?" I told him his website says he's open until 8 and we thought he might want some more business, so it was a fair question to ask. He told me I should have called ahead to ask how late they'd be open and then had the nerve to give me a magnet with their phone number for "next time". There will be no next time. I was not at all upset that he was closing early, but his sarcastic and rude attitude towards customers trying to support his business is the reason I will not be back. We went to Luna's instead and it was amazing!! Yummy ice cream, lots of gluten free flavors and great customer service!

Trevor

Google
Great Customer Service, Friendly Staff, Best Home Made Ice Cream. Wonderful flavors. Great affordable prices.

Google
Rude staff ruined our experience. Went to get ice cream with our 1 year old son, and my wife wanted to share a scoop with my son and so asked for an extra cup. Owner came out and argued saying “prices aren’t negotiable” in front of a line of people as though we were haggling for their $6 dollar scoop of ice cream. Uncalled for and embarrassing level of poor customer service.

Stacey F.

Google
Yummy ice cream and great service! Loved the guy who served us he was hilarious. Lots of dairy free ice cream too

Nicole

Google
I genuinely liked this spot and the sellers were so friendly! I love that you can get a split small scoop. Ghirardelli chocolate ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ French roast ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Yelp
My family moved to Portland two months ago and Hurry Back is the first place where we've become regulars, going nearly every weekend. The ice cream is great, with interesting flavors that rotate, so there's always something new to try. And the nicest people and best service you'll find. When my 8 year old daughter dropped her cone in front of the cart, they didn't miss a beat. Made her a brand new cone on the spot and refused to let us pay for the extra one. 10 out of 5 stars. We will continue to hurry back.

Yelp
oh my goodness - this is run by SUCH a sweet family! I have celiac and had all kinds of gluten questions and they were so kind to answer - my spouse can't have dairy and they answered all those questions as well. It was hot and I enjoyed a strawberry pineapple scoop - I even stopped back (talk about hurry back!) to get another scoop of it after my lunch. So good and refreshing! I wish I lived closer - I'll visit next time I'm in town.

Yelp
We live in Sellwood and have been going to Hurry back for many many years, its been so promising. From rewards to random celebrations, the people working there are so kind and understanding, the ice-cream is incredible. And it never disappoints, the seating is fantastic and well cleaned. I love this place!
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Service with a smile. Loads of tasty options for everyone. My son loved his 50/50 of Chocolate and Vanilla. We will definitely hurry back for more!

Steve K.

Yelp
Was driving by and noticed no line so stopped to get some scoops Hmm hmm hmm Ordered the chocolate peanut butter and peach and both were delicious I'll be back

Yelp
Hurry Back Ice Cream is an adorable cart in Sellwood. Their ice cream is made from scratch in the cart. After every order, they encourage you to "hurry back" for more! I enjoyed the ice cream. A couple of the flavors I tried were a little sweet and artificial tasting for me so next time I'd order a little different or do more taste-testing. Their flavors rotate all the time. The texture, serving size, price, and service was all good. And there are a handful of vegan options!
google avatar

Benjamin C.

Yelp
We waited in line for an hour with 15 people in front of us. They are soooooo slow. The prices are ok and the service is very friendly. The ice cream is about average, but they have some unique flavors that are fun.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Love that it's a small business and the staff was very nice. Nice selection of both diary and non-diary ice creams. Nothing too out-there but a good variety of some classic and less common flavors (orange creamsicle, maple...) I really liked the texture of the ice cream, perfect creamy and thick. The flavors were alright - I may have chosen wrong - and a little too sweet for my taste. Pretty generous portion sizes too! Would definitely come back to try other flavors though. Plus it's in a little food cart area so there others things around.

Yelp
After a visit to nearby Cloud Cap and Spoons, I couldn't help but notice the long line outside of Hurry Back. After viewing their website, I came to find that they're raved about by many critics and reviewers as one of the best ice cream places in Portland so I had to stop by. As an ice cream lover, I was intrigued by what flavors they had and was surprised to find lots of options with some unique kinds. I ordered the Watermelon and Grasshopper half and half. They were both great, each one creamy, full of flavor, and were some of the best tasting of their individual flavors... no joke. The watermelon was incredible, I recommend anyone to try it. An amazing place with great, helpful people, decent prices, and a very good location!

Yelp
Great Customer Service, The Best Homemade Ice Cream in Oregon, Great Environment, Friendly People. They Make Every Batch of Ice Cream made by Scratch in a small cart. They have dairy and non dairy options. My favorites are: Banana Cream Pie, Speculoos cookie, Oh-ree-oh and Butterscotch.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
This guy is amazing!!! tons of great flavors toppings! They use high quality dairy in all their ice cream and prices are decent as well! Customer service is top notch - sample all that you want! i'll definitely be hurrying back!
google avatar

Binh N.

Yelp
I've been coming to Hurry Back since 2015. Probably one of their first customers. Whenever I'm in the Sellwood area it's a must go. My favorite flavors is usually their strawberry or orange blossom. They're not open Mondays and Tuesdays FYI
google avatar

Liza S.

Yelp
Not a single bad thing to say. DELICIOUS ice cream! And if you have allergies, they've got you covered.. with ice cream that still manages to be soooo yummy!

Meghan S.

Yelp
We love this place. The best ice cream around, great flavors, and worth the wait! The owner is so, so kind as well. A favorite spot of ours.
google avatar

Scot N.

Yelp
Ice cream. Something which so many places try to make overly complicated and then just end up making something which should be solid joy into a mess of flavors. Hurry Back Ice Cream keep things pretty straightforward and accomplishes what all good ice cream shops should, providing you a scoop of bliss in the cone or a cup of your choice. I had the espresso ice cream which was a fairly solid coffee flavored ice cream. My wife had the Ghirardelli chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup and that hit the spot! The only downside is that this food truck is a couple of blocks from our house. I have a feeling we are going to need to walk around the neighborhood quite a bit in order to burn off all of the calories we will be putting on from this wonderful ice cream.
google avatar

B M.

Yelp
Parents of kids with egg allergies--rejoice! Their ice cream is delicious AND egg-free.
google avatar

FoodSnot S.

Yelp
Double scoop in a waffle cone. Every freakin' time. Some weeks we go big and we send in a text beforehand and order a couple of pints because ice cream is life and some days all you want for brekkie, lunch and a mid day snack is ice cream. This ice cream is made in the food truck, and it's freakin' top notch. "Hurry back!" is their catch phrase and I'm like, "yeah, duh. See you next week. We're on a first name basis... ". Orange blossom is like the nostalgic, grown up version of a dream-scicle. And, sweet cream chocolate chip makes you wish everything was as heavenly as each bite. Some people count sheep, I salivate counting the all flavors I live for. Hurry back!
google avatar

Yelp
When we think of sapphires, rubies and emeralds we thing of beautiful bursts of color, in a small size. Well, this place is like that, if gemstones were ice cream flavors - bursts of beautiful flavors, all in a small package. (and as a bonus, the 'packaging' is crunchy and delicious) Vegan and dairy flavors available and they rotate almost daily. My current favorites are blueberry, mandarin chocolate (orangy chocolate), hazelnut chocolate, butterrum, and blackberry. And as a service to my Yelpy friends I'll keep going back to try different flavors so I'll update as more flavors show up.
google avatar

Liza M.

Yelp
Can you say ice cream while eating it in 50 degree weather outside?? I was so freezing as I devour my ice cream. But it is worth it. There are plenty of choices of flavors including chocolate. The worker let me try chocolate rum. He mentioned that it will blow my mind away. It did. So my decision was chocolate rum. It was so rich in flavor with the overpowering rum. It's so delicious. I forgot what my bf had but he shifted his ice cream. The business is a food truck so no indoor seating. However there are tables and chairs right next to the food truck. Parking is street only. Try to come during the non lunch and dinner time. Usually the street parking is full during those times. Mid afternoon is the best time. Try their ice cream and go when it's warm and sunny weather or you'll get brain freeze.
google avatar

Marissa R.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream (creamy, not too sweet flavors) and awesome customer service! We went on a rainy day and it still hit the spot! Would go again!
google avatar

Cassandra C.

Yelp
What the french, toast?! Never been here before, strolled on down after we finished at Grand Central to maybe share a scoop or try an unusual flavor. We got lemon poppyseed in a waffle cone and honey in a cup. The honey was rich and creamy, not too ridgey just a really nice soft serve-y feel. The lemon poppyseed was more dense, more iced, still creamy but not that soft-serve gelato feel. Def hard packed cream. Flavors were rich and powerful in both flavors. Prices were pretty fair, I think $4.50ish for the waflle cone (huge scoop, packed halfway or more down the cone), and like $3.50ish for a scoop in a cup. Really satisfying, really nice people, good quality product.
google avatar

Darren O.

Yelp
My wife wanted to hit the antique shops in Sellwood when we walked past. I had heard of Hurry Back Ice cream and had wanted to go for quite sometime, so this was a great opportunity on a warm day. Ordered the Orange Blossom and Lemon Poppyseed in a bowl. (Had eaten a big lunch and didn't want to feel sick. ) They were both light and flavorful with a creamy & bright citrus flavor. Definitely different than salt and straw, but texture and flavor are equal in quality. Exceptional ice cream.
google avatar

Malisa T.

Yelp
The lemon poppy seed ice cream is the best!!! They make all their ice cream in their food cart and the pricing is great. Half n half for $4.50
google avatar

Steve K.

Yelp
Great ice cream and the nicest people! The pomegranate is AMAZING!

Manpreet B.

Yelp
Excellent, great, earth shattering and mouth watering flavors. A must visit location!
google avatar

Lane R.

Yelp
Friendly service with good recommendations! I got the 1/2 & 1/2 honey & orange blossom. It was hard to choose between the offered flavors. I really enjoyed what I ordered, and I hope to come back sometime.
google avatar

Naz K.

Yelp
5 star all the way , they make there only ice cream out of scratch, I love there vanilla and chocolate flavor, so rich and smooth. Employees are very polite and professional, parking only on the street sometimes hard to find. This was probably the best ice cream I had absolutely delicious.
google avatar

Paul L.

Yelp
Portland seriously ruins me. Any good eating habits that I have are left at the airport when I'm here. I had already eaten plenty this day when, sure, let me order three scoops of delicious ice cream. It was rich and worth it but I have to admit I couldn't eat it all.
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
I like coming here for a dessert once I finish a meal in the area. The owners here are super friendly and nice. They will let you try any flavors you want. They usually have some interesting seasonal flavors and also items that are dairy free. During this visit, I chose the French roast flavor. I'm normally not a coffee drinker, but the coffee flavor ice cream is my weakness. Its definitely worth a try if you are in the area!
google avatar

Sandy P.

Yelp
I finally got to try this ice cream, and it was delicious! I had the grasshopper, which is mint without the chips. It had a really nice texture and perfect mint flavor that was not too sweet. My husband had the dairy free coffee flavor and he loved his too. I knocked a star off because we've been trying to get ice cream for a couple of months and it's never been open when we get there.
google avatar

Matteus H.

Yelp
A++ delicious handmade ice cream and excellent service. This is the type of place we should be supporting. Get the cheesecake flavor!!
google avatar

Bubba Y.

Yelp
Grasshopper and Pomegranate Chocolate. YUM! Perfect treat for a cold sunny January afternoon. Thanks for being open!
google avatar

Frank R.

Yelp
OMG, the very best non-dairy ice cream in Portland. If you are vegan or diary-intolerant then this is the place to be. Absolutely no dairy ice cream grieving taking place here!!! They of course have plenty of dairy-based ice cream flavors which my friends tell me are excellent. Definitely worth the stop!!

L M.

Yelp
Best ice cream in the area! Good sized servings and variety of flavors. We hurray back all summer!
google avatar

Wayne G.

Yelp
Local, local, local. A nice food truck run by a family that serves ice cream that they made. It's a worthy stop, just for the service and the enthusiasm. I've had vegan and nokvegan options. It's not salt and straw but it's from a local family that takes pride in their product and has worked hard to build a reputation. It's worth the stop.
google avatar

Noelle L.

Yelp
A food truck with handmade ice cream. Has both unique and traditional flavors. Everything was completely delicious. About $4 for a good sized scoop in a waffle cone. There are non dairy options too. Closed Mondays to make the ice cream. 3 tables right alongside the truck to sit and enjoy your scoop(s).
google avatar

Grace W.

Yelp
Wow, we had a wonderful experience here. We strolled along the streets to walk here. I was pleasantly surprised by how cute the set up of the entire little food collective was. They are located in a. trailer (?) and they have a good list of all the variety of ice creams they offer. We got their vegan ice cream made out of coconut and it was absolutely delicious. I wish I remembered what flavor it was but the ice cream was rich and flavorful. My daughter loved the ice cream. I had this about 4 months ago but all I. can remember is that it was pretty darn delicious. I had a lovely time eating ice cream here. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Kristi P.

Yelp
The cardamom chocolate chip had a nice cardamom flavor, and the rum chocolate had a perfect balance of rum and chocolate. They have interesting flavors without being gimmicky--it just tastes good! Both were nice and creamy and the chocolate had a nice subtle gooier consistency. The scoop size is very generous, and the owner is really nice! They make the ice cream daily in the cart. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Rose B.

Yelp
It was our first time here, and the vegan ice cream is amazing! The owner is so friendly! We will absolutely return. I highly, highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Ya'll come back now! Ya hear? I reckon, as Jed Clampett would say, if you're too busy to get ice cream, well, you're too busy. Cause even if it took ya three years to "grad-ge-ate" the sixth grade, there's always time for ice cream ... and in sunny Sellwood, the time for ice cream is Noonish to 8:00 pm or so 'ceptin' Mondays at Hurry Back Ice Cream. And, this ain't Granny's ice cream neither. Uh-uh. Oh sure, they gots classic creamy eggless Philadelphia-style ice cream made with fresh Alpenrose Dairy Cream & Milk, but it's Hurry Back's non-dairy Coconut Milk & Cream and Cane Sugar Ice Cream that put the giddyup in my get-up. What in tarnation? Yep, Coconut-based, non-dairy ice cream ... White Chocolate Macadamia Strawberry Swirl to be exact. It was creamy. It was dreamy. It was ice cream worth hurryin' back. Don't mind if I do, don't mine t'all.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
I'm picky about my ice cream and hurry back was amazing! The staff are so incredibly friendly and the flavors are delicious. Everything is handmade inside the truck. The mandarin chocolate was fantastic!
google avatar

Laura Z.

Yelp
It's just so good. I've been here several times and it's incredibly creamy, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweetness. Not only that, but the owner is also super friendly and the help is always great! The one time that I brought my Corgi, he also enjoyed a dog scoop of vanilla on the house. Do yourself a favor and Hurry Back!
google avatar

Rosa K.

Yelp
I really wanted to try the white chocolate macadamia with raspberry swirl but it wasn't available. The owner said he will add it to his list of to make. He makes all the ice cream! Tried regular raspberry ice cream instead and it was so fresh and not overly sweet. The chocolate drizzle was a good complement.
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
The non-dairy coconut ice cream was sooooo good!!!! I highly recommend it. Great vegan option.
google avatar

Danni D.

Yelp
Have you ever had one of those Saturday nights when you couldn't get a dinner table until after 9:00 p.m.? You're wandering around, hangry and dejected. Well last night The Bud and I were lucky enough to come across this ice cream cart in our pre-dinner wanderings. We went through the following brief checklist: Are we adults? Yes. Are we hungry? Yes. Does anyone get to tell us what will "ruin our dinner" or what constitutes dinner? No. So yep, we ate ice cream. Before dinner. And it was glorious. No, really. It was not just the idea of ice cream before dinner that was glorious. This was sinfully creamy stuff. I had the Oreo ice cream, and we are not talking vanilla ice cream with some crushed up Oreos. They pulverized a portion of the Oreos so the entire ice cream base tasted of them. They also left some obligatory chunks so you had the occasional satisfying cookie crunch. This was an elevated and sophisticated creation meant to be savored and reflected upon. Bud had the Cinnamon ice cream, and it was perfection. Sweet and spicy, but not at all gritty, which can happen so easily with this flavor and an untrained ice cream artisan. The cart is run by a delightful couple who have photo blogged their journey to opening their ice cream cart. They said they plan to be in this location all winter long, and I, for one, will support them. Growing up in New England, you quickly learn there is no such thing as "too cold outside for ice cream." I hold fast to that truth, and I am glad these good folks agree.
google avatar

Savannah Tom S.

Yelp
I can never explain in words how absolutely delicious their dairy free lingonberry ice cream is! It taste creamy and just like full dairy! This ice cream is spectacular! We bought a pint, and went for an additional 3 days! It was the BEST thing I ate ! Plus the family who owns it are sooo wonderful!! I wish I could have it flown to California weekly!!
google avatar

Alyssa C.

Yelp
No. Literally. I never rave about desserts. I'm like...not the biggest sweet fan. Or ever really have a solid opinion on desserts other than "good" or "bad". But this is hands down the best I e cream I have ever had. It is so flavorful and you can really taste the quality and time they put into it. They are kidding when they call it "hurry back" because you will absolutely be hurrying back for this joint!

Kari M.

Yelp
Very good ice cream! Not too sweet, decent sizes and delicious cones! The service was amazing too.
google avatar

Cera O.

Yelp
It was a cold day. Do I really want an ice cream? I wasn't sure at the time but boy am I glad I got some from Hurry Back Ice Cream. Their ice cream is very creamy, which I liked, and they have really interesting flavors. I got the mandarin chocolate and it was delicious. Will definitely come back for more as the weather warms up!
