Eat Barbecue and Tacos in Dallas With a Chef From a Michelin-Starred Spot | Eater Dallas

"At the Uptown Farmers Market location we ordered the El Jefe—one third of a pound each of brisket, pulled pork, spare ribs, turkey, burnt ends, and sausage—plus sides of Mexican street corn and a creamy red slaw after the chef insisted on “a vegetable with actual fiber in it.” From appearance he expected the smoked turkey, but the pulled pork won him over: “I love all braised meats, shredded meats. In restaurants or for myself I like to cook beef cheeks and oxtail, and it reminds me of that,” he says. He found the pork rub and sauce so flavorful they dominated the tray and suggested the pork “would be good on a Cubano sandwich,” even entertaining the idea of a collaboration between the barbecue crew and his own kitchen. The chile-dusted Mexican corn prompted a moment of education about taco seasoning—cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder—and he singled out cumin’s role: “I get the cumin a lot, which is good because it brings a freshness to all the cheese and fat, almost cutting it.” He also emphasized attention to accompaniment: “For me, it is the small details. I judge the sides, because you can see the attention to detail. At most of the places you go, people don’t know how to cook green beans and serve them undercooked, which I think is disgusting. Small details show how much care is taken every step of the way.”" - Courtney E. Smith

The food and experience here was top notch! Arrived and didn't have much of a wait before I got to the counter and met Sarah. She was a wealth of knowledge about the menu, had some great recommendations and was very friendly too! With her guidance I chose my meal and a couple of sides to taste. Appetizer: Mexican Cornbread Entree: 3 Meat BBQ Plate with Brisket, Turkey, and 1/4 Chicken Sides: Hatch Chile Mac N Cheese, Mexican Street Corn, Brisket Beans Dessert: Tres Leches Banana Pudding In summary... EVERYTHING I ate from Hurtado Barbecue was full of flavor, savory, tasteful, mouthwatering, and oh so delicious!!! 🤤 10/10 - Would Absolutely Recommend!!! PS. I can't wait to be in town for a weekend (Friday-Sunday) so I can try their "Prime Beef Ribs"!!!

We were a large group and tried different dishes. The new Dallas location of Hurtado Barbecue is gorgeous - spacious, clean, and with a great patio perfect for outdoor dining or watching a game. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is incredibly friendly. They always check in multiple times to make sure everything was just right. The food? The brisket melts in your mouth, the rub on the ribs is spot-on. I tried the Big Papa - baked potato with brisket and it was good. Our table tried the pork belly burnt ends, jalapeño mac n cheese and tacos and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The tres leches banana pudding is a must-try! Everyone was raving about it. Pricing : Prices are on the higher side. Still, the overall experience and quality of food land this place firmly in my top 10 for Texas BBQ. Will I return? : For sure!

Birria tacos were delicious! Audibly crispy corn tortillas held delectable, succulent brisket, and the flavorful consomme dip was a lovely accompaniment. The Mexican street corn was well-dressed with just the right hit of spiciness. Staff were friendly and attentive and kept spaces tidy. An open, airy dining room, ample bar selection, and delicious Tex Mex BBQ. What more could you want? Can't wait to enjoy the patio when the weather cools down a bit.

My husband and I tried Hurtados for the first time today! We love barbecue and have been to so many barbecue restaurants across Texas and Hurtados by far is the best barbecue we have had! Hurtados is now our new go to for barbecue. We had the huge sampler plate and everything on it was amazing! Chips, salsa, and queso…best ever! I just can’t find adequate words to describe how good their food is, it’s so incredibly good! And all the staff is so friendly and came by several times to make sure we were doing ok or if we needed anything. The manager, Bianca, was the sweetest and went above and beyond to make our dining experience the very best. We will be back…again and again!

Google
Delicious BBQ, but the wait time just to place an order was over 30 minutes. The staff were very friendly and checked on us at least seven times to make sure everything was okay. The atmosphere is very pleasant and clean. However, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you have celiac disease—especially if you're sensitive. For example, I asked if the banana dessert was gluten-free and was told it was, but when I opened it, there was cake inside. It seems the staff may not be fully familiar with gluten-related concerns.

First time here, and we ordered the El Jefe. Really good food here. The brisket and ribs were on point and even the sides were good. Creamy Red Coleslaw and the Hatch Chili Mac & Cheese were really tasty. Def coming back to sample some of their drinks at the bar. BTW Serice is outstanding!!!

Google
Visited from UK had 1 3 meat plate brisket, burnt ends, turkey with red coleslaw and fries and 1 trinity meal inc brisket ribs sausage and mac and cheese. Very clean place, friendly staff excellent food and drink, very tender meats, falling apart and very tasty. Will return tomorrow night to try something different as lots of yummy dishes on the menu. Love the new Dallas location of Hurtado! The finish-out of the restaurant is gorgeous and spacious, it has a fantastic courtyard/patio area, staff was incredibly friendly, service was quick, and the food was outstanding. Will definitely be in the regular rotation this spring and summer for baseball game watching and lunch with friends! The burger was cooked to perfection, and the tacos were delicious!

Yelp
A Must-Visit BBQ Experience in Dallas! Hurtado BBQ at the Dallas Farmers Market completely blew me away. The food? Unforgettable -- hands down the best BBQ I've ever had in a restaurant setting. From the house-made sausage to the perfectly smoked meats and flavorful sides, every bite was next-level. But what truly sets Hurtado apart is the experience. I was welcomed with incredible hospitality, given a behind-the-scenes tour of the smokers, and learned so much about the thoughtful techniques and pride that go into every dish. The space is beautiful and elevated, offering a dining experience that goes far beyond traditional BBQ. Hurtado BBQ has earned a permanent spot on my personal list of favorites -- it now tops my BBQ recommendations and is featured under my "FAVs" and "Mondays & Sundays" go-to categories. Whether you're a local or visiting Dallas, this is a stop you won't want to miss. I'll be sending many guests their way!

Yelp
Awesome food. Even better people. My son and I were lucky enough to "meat" (haha) the owner, Brandon, when we went in. Very nice guy who makes great food. My son has been talking about how he loved the BBQ and loved meeting the people who helped us well.

Yelp
GET THE CHIPS & QUESO! Comes with crispy seasoned chips & salsa too. Soo dang good. I got the brisket tostada & it was piled HIGH w/brisket cooked perfectly, fresh chopped onions, cilantro & some japs. The tostada shell was crispy & fresh. I ordered a side of flour tortillas & made a taco w/some of it- delicious!!! The employees were super friendly & the restaurant is decorated beautifully masculine. We'll be back!

Yelp
We stopped in on a weeknight, so it wasn't too busy. There's a typical BBQ line setup for ordering, but the line was moving slowly, so we went ahead and ordered at the bar instead--easy enough, and they've got a full bar, which is always a plus. The restaurant is open and bright, with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu features classic Texas BBQ with a delicious Tex-Mex twist. Some special items are only available on weekends, so keep that in mind if you're hoping to try something unique. Service was super friendly, and once we ordered, the food came out quickly. We shared the El Jefe platter, and the portions were very generous--definitely great for sharing with several friends. Everything we tried was tasty: the charro beans were stellar, the turkey was surprisingly juicy, the hatch mac was creamy and flavorful, and the pulled pork with mustard BBQ sauce had a perfect tang and was nice and moist. The only letdown was the burnt ends, which didn't quite hit the mark. Overall, highly recommend if you're looking for solid Texas 'que with a twist. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
...was very excited to try this place because of their Tex-Mex twist on BBQ; and was not disappointed at all. Had their brisket which was very tender and juicy with the perfect seasoning. Now, the sides. These are not your regular sides. The mac and cheese had a jalapeño kick and their green beans had garlic and chorizo. I don't think I have to tell you anything else. The sides were flavorful enough to complement the brisket without shadowing it. Loved the space, right at the Farmers Market. They have a bar right there so you can enjoy a summer beer with your BBQ. For me it was perfect, to beat down the heat in Dallas on a typical summer Saturday. I ordered their tres leches banana pudding to go and I do not regret it. It was like homemade. I was a little nervous about the mix but I did not find it as sweet as I thought it would be. Perfect combination!

Yelp
Hurtado Barbecue is a regional BBQ joint in North Texas that fused Texas Barbecue and Tex-Mex. I've followed their smoky trail from the original Arlington location to the ballpark vibes at Globe Life Field. But this review is all about their newest gem nestled in the heart of the Dallas Farmers Market. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Hurtado Barbecue's newest location in the Dallas Farmers Market is a win for Dallasites. It's the perfect location with plentiful seating, both indoors and out, making it a great spot whether you're catching up with friends or just soaking in the downtown Marketplace feels. The outdoor area is especially inviting and with comfortable seating and corn hole. 1 Star. Service - The staff here are excellent, helpful, and always smiling. You place your order at the counter, get a number, and then sit back while the magic happens. The staff brings your food right to your table, checks in to make sure everything's perfect, and even clears your plates when you're done. It's a thoughtful, full-service experience that elevates the casual BBQ joint experience. 1 Star. Food - Hurtado Barbecue was the first to combine Texas BBQ with Tex-Mex, and IT WORKS. I started with the Brisket: Melt-in-your-mouth perfection. It's got that deep smoky bark, a juicy pink smoke ring, and just the right amount of fat to make each bite a savory dream. Then I then moved to the Brisket Tostada: Crispy tostada shell piled high with chopped brisket, creamy avocado, tangy slaw, and a drizzle of house sauce. It's a flavor bomb with crunch, spice, and soul. Due to the heat from my tostada, I finished with the Tres Leches Banana Pudding: It's rich, creamy, and layered with just the right amount of banana and vanilla wafer goodness. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. With its excellent location, Hurtado has earned a spot in my BBQ rotation. Whether you're a BBQ purist or just hungry for smoked meat with a Tex-Mex twist, Hurtado's Dallas Farmers Market location delivers on every level. It's a fantastic addition to the city's food scene and a new favorite for me. P.S. The parking stinks. 1 Star.

Yelp
Great bbq place to visit if you're in the farmers market area. You have the option of waiting in line to place your order or getting your order taken by one of the bartenders (which is what I did). The food comes out quick. The burnt ends are huge chunks of pork belly, and not burnt or drowning in sauce. The jalapeño sausage was my favorite. Along with the brisket beans. The cornbread was okay, kinda dry. The Mac and cheese was a liquidy kinda sauce, similar to terry blacks. But overall, it was a good experience and great tasting bbq. 3 people sharing the 3 meat/2 sides platter plus another 1/2lb of ribs and 2 extra sides, plus 1 banana pudding was about $80. GET THE BANANA PUDDING. Fresh bananas, and a different kind of cookie that's not a vanilla wafer or chessman. That is all.

Yelp
Super fantastic! I'm a bbq snob being originally from Kansas City. I've been in DFW for 20 years and have been underwhelmed with the BBQ---until yesterday! I was at the Farmers Market and have been wanting to check this place out. I'd also been wanting to try beef rib because I'd never had them. Boy was I in for a pleasant surprise! A treat. I tried multiple things to be able to fully assess. The location and service were spectacular. The beef ribs were really good ($50 for one rib but really good and enough for more than one meal), the pork ribs and turkey were 10/10. The Mexican rice and bacon ranch potato salad were 10/10 as well. Highly recommend and I'm looking forward to visiting regularly

Yelp
Okay Okay... I want to first say that I come from a city that is known for BBQ so it is really hard to impress me. Food & Price Point (3/5): We got the Big Papa , 2 Meats plate, and a Twinkie ( $60) . Now first issue, the 2 piece meat plate literally came with one rib LOL. I understand that they measure out the meat to be 1/4 of a lb each, but when you see that translate to ONE rib .... that is literally laughable. The meat itself on the plate was good, but not outstanding. My stuffed potato was good, but my potato itself could have been been cooked a little longer, and the amount of meat was less than I would have expected. I think the best part of the meals were the Green Beans and the Twinkie (Stuffed Pepper) . Service/Location (5/5): This Hurtado location is very nice, clean, and spacious. Located right next to the Dallas Farmers Market! I swear everyone working there spoke to us, made sure we were comfortable, and they were very attentive!

Yelp
Finally had a chance to try Hurtado Barbecue at their newest location in the heart of Dallas Farmer's Market. The space looks fantastic and the service is definitely very welcoming. I had the Texas Trinity ( brisket, pork ribs, jalapeño cheddar sausage) along with an order of Texas Twinkie. While the brisket had a nice bark and decent smoke, the ribs were tender and meaty, and sausage packed a good snap. I wish it had just a bit more depth in flavor. I think the burger, birria tacos and brisket tostada is where the money is at which I am really excited to try on my future visit and a second heaping of their Tres Leches Banana Pudding on the next is a total must.

Yelp
What a way to celebrate June UYE, BBQ @ Hurtado's new location at the Dallas Farmers Market. The selection today for the fam: (1) Prime Rib Bone, 1 lb FOUR SIXES Prime Brisket, 1 lb Spare Ribs and 1/2 lb Pulled Pork. Sides included: French Fries, Green Beans w/Chorizo, Hatch Mac & Cheese. ALL. OUTSTANDING! The service and attention to detail (asking preference on beef... marbled, lean, juicy, extra sauce, etc) was friendly and great. The vibe is, "If you leave here hungry and grumpy, it's your own damn fault!"

Yelp
Decided to swing by on father's day weekend. The line was right at the door but you can tell they're well practiced in their craft that even the line flowed smoothly. The food comes out after you order but you can see it being prepared by the staff through these windows behind the cash register. The place was packed but there is enough indoor and out door seating that you don't feel crammed and overwhelmed. I ordered one combo that came with 1/3 pound of 3 meats. I went with the brisket, jalapeño sausage and chopped pork. Also added the pork belly. For the 2 sides I got the chorizo green beans and the loaded mashed potatoes. Dessert was the banana pudding with the nice crispy Gamesa cookies. My wife went with the pork belly banh mi. Daughter had the burger. The burger was MASSIVE. Wife's sandwich was nice and crunchy and full of flavor. I ordered the texas twinkies but they were out of stock. Ill definitely be back. Next time I'll probably just go with a pound of brisket, pound of pork belly and some sides. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Little bit of a wait during busy hours 5:30-7:30. Really great BBQ!! It came out fast. They were out of brisket but everything else was top notch. El jefe for two people is perfect. Cheaper and better than terry blacks
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
I was simply amazed at the quality of the BBQ and how amazing every bite of meat and the sides was. The place can get packed, but the food is worth it. It's not cheap bbq, but also you have to pay to get great food. There's also free street parking nearby, so don't pay for parking right outside of the restaurant. There's also a ton of staff walking around the restaurant at all times to clean up and check if you need anything. I definitely will be coming back and you should give this a place a try.

Yelp
Hurtado We went to their location near the farmers market and they portrayed the epitome of southern hospitality. Service was quick and prices were fair. The brisket was on the drier end so we were disappointed. The bologna didn't have much flavor either. The star of the show was definitely the ribs, Birria taco and banana pudding!! Probably one of the best banana puddings we've ever had!! What we ordered and ratings: Brisket ‍ 4/10 ‍6/10 Pork ribs ‍ 7.5/10 ‍ 8/10 Bologna ‍4/10 ‍ 6/10 Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage ‍9/10 ‍ 7.5/10 Texas Twinkie ‍2/10 ‍ 5.5/10 Hatch Chile Mac ‍6/10 ‍ 7.5/10 Potato Casserole ‍5/10 ‍ 6/10 Elotes ‍5/10 ‍ 6/10 Tres Leches Banana Pudding ‍10/10 ‍ 9/10 Mexican Hot Chocolate Pot De Crème ‍7/10 ‍ 6/10

Yelp
Good food, friendly service. We came close to opening and didn't have to wait in line, just walked right up to the counter. The location is pretty big, lots of inside and outside space and a bar! Food was tasty, we ordered the lean brisket, pulled pork, a side of the mac and cheese and a side of street corn. Everything was delicious! I would definitely eat here again.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
I would 100% come back to this place again and again! The food was mouth wateringly delicious, tender with every single bite. The brisket was definitely my favorite but not one thing we tried was bad. The drinks were delicious and Jenna (I think) was so attentive and friendly. The locals we talked with were so nice & raved about the staff and food of this place we couldn't not stop! Once we were there I understood why everyone loved the place.

Yelp
What a great place for some good ol' Texas BBQ! Walked into a n extremely cleans and organized restaurant! I say this because if you've gone to as many bbq joints as I have, it can be a task to figure out where to line up, order ford, pick up food etc. Not here. Everything was laid out and signs were prevalent. Wife and I ordered the weekend special, chilequilles and a small order of meat (brisket, sausage, turkey) and a few sides. We had the elotes, bacon wrapped jalapeno, and tater tot casserole. All I have to say is OMG to all of it! They hit it out of the park on everything!! Meats tender and not over-seasoned, sides were also perfectly good and seasoned. Y'all, the service was EXCELLENT!! We always had an employee asking if we needed anything or asking how our meal was to the point it was almost annoying. Nah, these people killed it in all aspects of their restaurant!

Yelp
Love the area, food was okay we were recommended 'El Patron' bundle by a staff member and it was more than we expected as a family of 4. I would say this feeds 6-8 people. Overall taste of the food was average but will satisfy a bbq craving. The location is beautiful and if you go out into the patio it's really homey and a great spot to relax.
google avatar

Tonya W.

Yelp
Food was excellent, meat was so tender. Not too pricey, it wasn't over crowded Clean place, quiet enough to have a good conversation with others. Staff were nice and helpful It was my first experience here in Dallas at this location. I'd recommend going

Yelp
Friendly service and great bbq! Love everything that has brisket on it! Great spot in dallas - with a spacious open patio for the pups (or kids)! Arlington locations is still my favorite.

Yelp
We took a trip into Dallas and went to a couple touristy spots. We passed a farmer's market during lunch time and wow, there is a Hurtado's here. This location is much fancier than the Arlington location. Food was amazing as expected. A little dry on the turkey but still better than anywhere else I've been. I tried the burger and it was SO GOOD! The staff was nice but not as friendly as the Arlington location. Perhaps Megan from Arlington can come inspire the team here. I must say I've been to quite a few BBQ spot all over Texas over the past few weeks. Hurtado's I could be my favorite. Since this is my third time in Four weeks! Keep up the great work.
google avatar

Yelp
They quickly becoming my fav BBQ place. It was better than the last time I went. And they put real cheese in the Mac n cheese. Loved it.

Yelp
Second Hurtado I've been to. I love how new the restaurant is, especially with the plentiful amt of outside seating. Order at the front counter, they give you a number and they will bring your order to you. The service was very attentive and always asking how things are which was great! I love how personable it was. Food wise, I had to knock a star b/c it wasn't as tender as the other Hurtado location! The flavor was there, but it wasn't as fall off the bone as it could've been.
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
I was in the Farmers Market District and decided to try Hurtado Barbecue for lunch. I went ahead and ordered a Brisket Sandwich Combo which includes a side and drink. I also like to get my meat chopped but this time they ended up slicing it. I got the Hatch Corn and also tried the Mac and Cheese. The Sandwich was actually really good. The meat had a nice smoky flavor and at first it looked pretty dry but I was surprised as it was very tender. The sides that I got with my sandwich were just average. But now bad. At least now I can say I scratched Hurtado BBQ out of my list.
google avatar

Marie F.

Yelp
Thank you for our Texas BBQ experience! There were many establishments we could have gone to, but we're glad we chose Hurtado's . First time for having burnt ends!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
I visited the downtown location for takeout. Service was friendly and quick. The presentation was impressive and clearly showed that they care about their food. I ordered 1/2 lb of pork ribs, 1/2 lb of brisket and a single mac & cheese. The portion sizes were good. The brisket was not as tender or flavorful as I would like. The ribs were pretty good and very tender. The flavor was still lacking a bit. Definitely would recommend visiting Terry Black's instead.

Yelp
First off, let me say.. I work in the food industry and have for many years here in Dallas. So to say, I know BBQ well, is an understatement. The Good- we found close up parking, which is always nice. We were greeted be a super friendly door host that walked us through the experience. We ordered from a cashier that knew her food well and had some good recommendations. The restauarant is clean, well lit and tidy. Good looking space and can tell a lot of money was spent on the remodel from the last restaurant that was there. The not so Good- The Food... I ordered a two meat combo with the jalapeno Sausage and a Pork Spare Rib. The 2 sides recommened to me were the Tator Tot Casserole and the Corn Elote. I was asked if I had more room.. so she also sold me the Texas Twinkie and I ordered the TresLeche Banana Pudding. I brought a close friend, who was a chef here in Dallas, and I guess we had our hopes set on being wow'd by the food. Sadly, it felt as if it was all very pretty and photographed well, and displayed nicely, but the real problem is it was suprisingly Lacking in the flavor department. We had asked a table next to us how was it?? and they said.. umm,, it's Okay. The restaurant may have somewhat ran it's course. We were there on a Saturday night at prime time and it was not busy.. no wait at all. The BBQ sauce was watery and had the weirdest flavor. Not smokey, or even BBQ like, as you'd know it from a grocery store, much less a good restaurant. This was a red flag!! The Rib and the sausage was missing any real Smoked flavor. The green beans were nice. The Corn Elote was almost like a runny soup and lacked flavor. That Tator Tott casserole was a mess. No real flavor. Just there. I don't salt my food, but this needed something in the worst way. The 2 meats were truly a let down. Again, just there. Warmed protein's with no flavor. No smoke, no seasoning. Just plain. The Texas Twinkie was tasty, but how could it not be! It was a bacon wrapped, stuffed jalapeno with pimento cheese. All in all, it kind of felt like were eating Food from the State Fair of Texas. Just less tasty. I really wanted to like this place, and my chef friend would (but won't) be writing an even more critical review of the food. Mind you, this set me back $60 for just me. I can forgive the price if it tasted as least as good as a local BBQ restaurant, but the flavors were highly lacking.

Yelp
A Tex-Mex BBQ that is worth your money :) P.s ask for fatty for the brisket, it will melt in your mouth. Highly recommend. The mac and cheese had the right combination of cheesy and seasoning. The bacon potato salad was creamy with a bit of texture and crunchy bacon that mixed really nicely together. The banana bread pudding is good but I got my a bit room temperature. Would had loved it a bit cooler. Overalll a good meal :)))

Pat G.

Yelp
The Brisket was really good! I wasn't thrilled about the overall setup. It feels way to Chipotle and nothing like a bbq place. The ordering process was very rigid, and the customer service was as well. It is very clean and well maintained, but doesn't feel like a bbq place. The kids Mac n cheese was very spicy, not good for kids. One of the patrons requested more slices of bread and it became a back n forth between him and customer which I thought was really embarrassing on behalf of the establishment. This place I was excited to go to since I've heard a lot about it in the Radio sponsors, but I will probably never intentionally go here again. Atmosphere wasn't what I look for in a bbq place. But really good Brisket.

Yelp
Y'all need to try this place!! Beautiful location with space to spread out or eat outside. The line was to the front door but went quickly, Merch and sauce was for sale. We ordered variety of meats and sides and it was all delicious! We had enough to take some home. Thank you for your creative menu and lovely location!

Yelp
Hurtado BBQ never disappoints! Food is great, patio is dog-friendly, and there's a couple of corn hole sets for entertainment! The staff was super kind and welcoming, too, and loved on my pup when we walked in! Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
My new FAVORITE bbq spot!!! The meats are perfectly smoked. Incredible refresh on your favorite sides!!! Must try the Mac n Cheese and the Potato Salad... WOW! A flavor explosion!!! I've been back every week since I found this spot a month ago... And it's still as great as the first time I was here!! Plus the service is incredibly nice and helpful... all around a great experience!!! Happy Hours specials... They have it ALL!!!

Yelp
We tried this place on a recent trip to the Farmer's Market area. They were doing a soft opening at the time. The place is massive. They have a different set up than the location we have been to in Arlington, but the BBQ is still consistent. When we entered the building we were directed to a line that curved around some gift shop items. That allowed us to look at a menu and then put our order in with a staff member that had a hand-held kiosk. From there, you walk to the registers to pay. Unsure what the point of the ordering system is if you go to a register to pay anyway? It's literally 10 feet and 10 seconds different between kiosk and register employees. The Texas trinity platter was fantastic. The turkey sandwich was tasty. They have a large bar area with a great bourbon selection and a massive patio. We will definitely be back when the weather is better for patio time.

Yelp
The food is delicious and on point. If you've been to the Arlington location before, it's what you would expect food wise. Before I get into all that though. What really wins me over with them is the amazing customer service. Everyone was great and very helpful and the location of the restaurant is ideal with it right by the farmers market. The food is great, but great food mixed with great service is what keeps me coming back. I got the el jefe plate and you get a lot of food. The brisket is amazing and the turkey is underrated but tastes great. I enjoyed the burnt ends, sausage and pulled pork as well. And the sides were on point. It's a good meal and honestly is enough to feed two people. I didn't get them today, but their birria tacos are some of the best tacos I've had anywhere. I'm glad I don't have to go to Arlington anymore to get my fix.

Yelp
I was excited to try great Texas barbecue. Unfortunately this wasn't it. Brisket was dry, burnt ends were hard and greasy, ribs were dry. Nothing was juicy. Maybe I just caught them at the end of everything but I was disappointed. Just very meh, including the beans. Street corn was great - kudos on those.

Yelp
Our group of 14 came in for lunch. We were warmly greeted and given menus to look over while we waited for the rest of our party. Another employee setup tables to seat us all together and was so hospitable and friendly the entire time we were there. We ordered the El Capo. It says it serves 6-10, but it was more than enough for our group. The meats and sides were delicious, especially the beef brisket. The banana pudding was AMAZING. We had a great meal and the staff were great - I will definitely return the next time in the area!

Yelp
Came here for the first time as they were opening Father's Day weekend, and all I can say is WOW! We were greeted immediately by friendly staff and were checked on multiple times throughout our meal. The restaurant itself was nicely organized and very clean. The food? Fantastic. We got the three meat plate with turkey, jalapeño sausage, and brisket with sides of elotes, mac and cheese, and bacon potato salad. We also ordered some tortillas to try. The sausage was so flavorful and not greasy at all. The turkey was very good when paired with the bbq sauce and the brisket was tender and had a nice smoke ring. IMO, the sides were the stars of the show. The elotes were the best I've ever had. Spicy, creamy, but not mushy whatsoever. The Mac and cheese was soooooooooo good. A lil spice from the hatch chile and the shape of the noodles gave a 5/5 rating for me. The bacon ranch potato salad was also fire!! The taste was unique and the texture was perfect. If you haven't figured it out yet, we will definitely be back for this yummy spot!!

Yelp
Was pleased to find this spot walkable from the conference center. Great food and comfortable indoor and outdoor dining options. The bar is a nice option which many bbq spots don't have. The staff were friendly and helpful. I'm going back next time I'm in Dallas.

Yelp
On a trip to Dallas Farmers Market I happen to see the BBQ spot while I have never been to the one in Fort Worth, this place in Dallas stood out to me. It's beautiful and the smell of smoked wood drew to me so I had to have barbecue and it was A++ .. Their customer service is beyond impeccable. I noticed that the host and manager went around every single table, asking everyone how their food was. The brisket was deliciously tender, the ribs were amazing. The mac & cheese was just OK to me, but they're cheesy potatoes were very flavorful. I also purchased a Texas Twinkie and oh my gosh oh my gosh, it was not a disappointment. I am hooked. Finished off with banana pudding and I think that that was my most disappointment not enough cookie wafer but I'm OK with that. It's definitely a place to go to while you're on that side of Dallas. Hurtado BBQ congratulations on your new location. May you be blessed with amazing business and great reviews

Yelp
Mac and cheese was my favorite! Brisket was soft and the turkey was soft and moist. Overall really liked it! 8/10. Outdoor seating in the shade was perfect

Yelp
This is it. This is Texas bbq. This is the birria taco that all other birria tacos will be compared to. The brisket melted in my mouth. The consomé could have been spicier but with a drizzle of their bbq sauce the flavor was perfection. The street corn was tasty and had good texture. To top it off the staff was incredibly sweet and fun. I will have to come back with the crew sometime to split a bigger plate.

Yelp
Food was good, brisket was fork tender, pulled pork was nice almost no fat at all portions for our meal , sandwich and one meat plate was nice, part of group diced to get EL JEFE, meat portion was enough for 3 but the amount of side dish was the same amount as one meat plate. I guess they think EL JEFE is one person meal . Overall all is not bad place, place as clean and service is fine

Yelp
Wow! It's our first time trying Hurtado's. I've heard so much about it, and we finally had the chance to try it today. First, the service was excellent. I like ordering in line and then paying after you order. It is a well-organized way to keep the line moving. We ordered the Jefe platter and Birria Tacos. The burnt ends were my least favorite from the platter, but my SO enjoyed them. The brisket, cheddar jalapeño sausage, and ribs were my favorite from the platter. Wow! Packed with flavor, these meats are tender, savory, and melt in your mouth. I was too full to taste the turkey meat. My husband and I shared this platter, which was undoubtedly more than enough for us. The pulled pork was also delicious! We ordered birria tacos, which came with a cilantro-onion dipping sauce. I found the tacos to pair better with the barbecue sauce, and I could do without the dipping sauce in the future. The birria tacos also paired well with a side of corn. The flavor of the corn complements the birria tacos exceptionally well. The bacon ranch potato salad fell short. I was disappointed by the flat flavor. I expected a robust flavor, especially since it is a bacon ranch potato salad. It was like eating a spoonful of mashed potatoes with too much salt. Maybe that was the ranch flavor? Not sure. Either way, I hope Hurtado considers this and works to improve their recipe. I'm happy to volunteer as a taste taster! Ha-Ha! For dessert, we chose banana pudding, and WOW! The flavor was perfection! It's the best banana pudding I've had from a barbecue place recently! Yum! Yum! Yum! The ambiance was casual and inviting. It is a nice-sized space for all group sizes. Lastly, (I wish I had gotten the gentleman's name who helped us, but I forgot), I appreciated someone reviewing my meal before I took my order to go. Talk about quality assurance! More restaurants should do this. So, thank you to the young man who helped us ensure our order was correct. He was friendly, which I greatly appreciated! We look forward to coming back to Hurtado's in the future and recommend it!
