Eat Barbecue and Tacos in Dallas With a Chef From a Michelin-Starred Spot | Eater Dallas

"At the Uptown Farmers Market location we ordered the El Jefe—one third of a pound each of brisket, pulled pork, spare ribs, turkey, burnt ends, and sausage—plus sides of Mexican street corn and a creamy red slaw after the chef insisted on “a vegetable with actual fiber in it.” From appearance he expected the smoked turkey, but the pulled pork won him over: “I love all braised meats, shredded meats. In restaurants or for myself I like to cook beef cheeks and oxtail, and it reminds me of that,” he says. He found the pork rub and sauce so flavorful they dominated the tray and suggested the pork “would be good on a Cubano sandwich,” even entertaining the idea of a collaboration between the barbecue crew and his own kitchen. The chile-dusted Mexican corn prompted a moment of education about taco seasoning—cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder—and he singled out cumin’s role: “I get the cumin a lot, which is good because it brings a freshness to all the cheese and fat, almost cutting it.” He also emphasized attention to accompaniment: “For me, it is the small details. I judge the sides, because you can see the attention to detail. At most of the places you go, people don’t know how to cook green beans and serve them undercooked, which I think is disgusting. Small details show how much care is taken every step of the way.”" - Courtney E. Smith

We are visiting Dallas from Corpus Christi and we went here for the first time and got there when it opened. There was no wait, and a young lady came out and helped us with the menu, providing recommendations. She was extremely helpful. We got the El Jefe, which had a little bit of everything, with two sides. We also tried the queso, texas twinkie, and cornbread. It was all amazing. We will definitely be visiting this BBQ place again!

Google
It was amazing. Very clean and inviting plenty of space. The lady that took our order was helpful and kind. Ordering was simple. We had El Jefe to get a sample of everything had a Daria taco and the corn bread Mexican street con and bacon braised cabbage. It was so amazing the pork belly burnt end melted in your mouth. The pulled pork wow ribs mmm hatch pepper jack sausage amazing. Brisket soft tend and full of flavor. Not to forget the turkey was amazing.

Google
The food over all was good. The chicken was dry and the burnt ends were tough. The ribs and brisket were really good. I liked all the sides. I also got the beans but I assumed they would be BBQ baked beans but it was more like a charro beans. Thats my fault I should asked more questions. The bacon ranch potato salad was and the hatch chili Mac and cheese was absolutely awesome. The Mexican corn was good as well. I felt the price point was high for the amount of meat that you get.

Google
Great place for BBQ especially if you're looking for place open past 4pm. The food was pretty good. The brisket tostada was insane! Some of the slices brisket didn't have much flavor even thought it was cooked perfectly. The sides were decent, too. I dk if I would go back often when I'm craving barbeque, but I think it's a solid spot all around. Also, Yessenia and the other front staff were so sweet and helpful. I enjoyed the service even as just a more fast-casual spot.

Google
Wow! What a great unexpected find! We really loved the ribs, sliced brisket, pulled pork and smoked sausage. Now let's talk about the birria taco! Oh baby, the crunch, the cheese, the consumme, all delightful. Best birria taco that I've ever had, and priced at $6, I would order one every time. The macaroni and cheese and potato salad were both really good, We didn't really care for the corn, as it had a very overwhelming lime flavor, but everything else was top notch. Sarah took great care of us, as did another friendly female worker, but we didn't catch her name. This place is great, and the only thing that would keep me from coming back, is the parking situation. It took us 15 minutes to find a spot.

Google
The baked potato at Hurtado BBQ was next-level — truly massive, perfectly loaded, and enough to feed three of us without even trying. Tender, smoky meat, incredible sauces, and portions that feel downright generous… what more could you ask for? We grabbed a spot on the patio on a gorgeous Saturday, and I honestly haven’t felt that relaxed in weeks. If I had one (very minor) complaint, it’s that only one person was working the register, so ordering took a bit longer than expected — and the line wasn’t even that long. But once the food hit the table? Totally worth the wait.

Back at home TEXAS from Dubai and needed some BBQ suited for a southern bell like me. Right here in our Wonderfully walkable Farmers Market, wonderful business casual to casual warm Texas attitude , awesome hospitality AND GREAT FOOD! I ordered take out and visited the bar while waiting . Jacob , bartender was really great , taking care of a full bare and engaging with everyone. Great atmosphere gGREAT STAFF EXCELLENT BBBQ!

Google
If you’re looking for terry black level quality meats but on a lighter, cleaner side, this is the spot. Barbecue smoked right and extremely tender and fulfilling yet fresh won’t leave you feeling greased up and in a food coma. Plus, they have quality quail. The watermelon cucumber salad was the perfect size and side for my sliced turkey. Drinks also refreshing and light. The atmosphere followed suit with and well lit interior and spaced out tables so you don’t feel crowded. We’ve eaten out every Sunday and this is our new favorite spot after church.

Yelp
The entire staff was beyond friendly and attentive. All meats were beyond fresh. Flavors were great. Mac and cheese excellent. Highly, highly recommended. Eat a lot of barbecue and this is legit.

Yelp
Mouthwatering Tex-Mex BBQ! So flavorful were Hurtado's "Texas Trinity"of brisket, spareribs, and, jalapeño sausage. Just as dynamite were their sides of elote, coleslaw, brisket beans, and even their bread. Amazing also was their service. Loving the western contemporary feel to this location. THE newest BBQ spot for me, my family, and friends - pull up a chair y'all! CHEERS!

Yelp
For the longest time, this place, famous for their tex mex barbecue mash up, has been on our radar. So we finally gave in to curiosity and paid them a visit to celebrate a birthday. My first thought was to go to the original Arlington location, but thanks to Yelpers providing lot of photos and reviews, we decided that it might not be ideal for a large group since we would probably have to sit outside. That's how we ended up choosing the Dallas location, which has plenty of indoor, air conditioned seating. We had a lot of mouths to feed and wanted to try as many things as possible, so we ordered the El Jefe and the El Patron plus Texas twinkies. Together the meals came with sausage (jalapeno & cheddar and poblano jack), pulled pork, brisket, ribs, turkey, burnt ends, and birria tacos. For our sides we chose mexican corn, mexican rice, mac & cheese, tater tot casserole, potato salad and charro beans. Just about everything was exceptional, although for me the brisket really stood out. I can't remember when or even if I have ever had a better brisket. The smoky flavor and tenderness of the meat made it absolutely perfect. My favorite side was the tater tot casserole. It was about as scrumptious as a potato dish can possibly get. The tacos deserve an honorable mention because they were outstanding as well. Of course that's not surprising since they're filled with that delicious brisket. As great as the meal was, I wouldn't consider it to be 5 stars for several reasons. First of all, the sausages, which I almost always like the most, turned out to be my least favorite. The casings were so thick that it was difficult to cut through and to chew. The only barbecue sauce available was a bit too sweet, and I'm usually a fan of sweet sauces. Finally, the sides were kind of small, not only in relation to the amount of meat that's included, but also for the price. As other Yelpers have pointed out, the parking lot surrounding the place will cost you, and that rate per hour is higher on the weekend than on weekdays. I wanted to mention this because I had read in another review that parking was free on Sundays but that is definitely NOT the case.

Yelp
The line to eat is kind of long but the food comes out pretty fast. The food is delicious. The inside is really good for families and small amor large get togethers. There was a nice bar inside I couldn't drink because I'm pregnant but I did. Appreciate the presentation of the dried fruit for garnishment definitely gives the drink an elevated feel. The best Texas twinkies I've ever had the brisket was Juicy's the Elote sausage was something I didn't. Know I needed. The brisket babies potato was amazing I do like mine with extra everything that's my personal disclaimer. I did have the option to add it or request extra from my table but it's ok. The ribs fell off the bone. So tender. The macaroni was just ok to me because the noodles were over cooked the flavor was there for sure tho. I do it all over again. I cnt wait to go back .

Yelp
Went back today. Tried the Texas Twinkie for the first time and I was so good, I can't stop thinking about it. This place is a winner and consistently delicious. The customer service is amazing as well. Love the location, the food and the energy. Texas Twinkie is a must try.

Yelp
...was very excited to try this place because of their Tex-Mex twist on BBQ; and was not disappointed at all. Had their brisket which was very tender and juicy with the perfect seasoning. Now, the sides. These are not your regular sides. The mac and cheese had a jalapeño kick and their green beans had garlic and chorizo. I don't think I have to tell you anything else. The sides were flavorful enough to complement the brisket without shadowing it. Loved the space, right at the Farmers Market. They have a bar right there so you can enjoy a summer beer with your BBQ. For me it was perfect, to beat down the heat in Dallas on a typical summer Saturday. I ordered their tres leches banana pudding to go and I do not regret it. It was like homemade. I was a little nervous about the mix but I did not find it as sweet as I thought it would be. Perfect combination!

Yelp
We were a large group and tried different dishes. The new Dallas location of Hurtado Barbecue is gorgeous - spacious, clean, and with a great patio perfect for outdoor dining or watching a game. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is incredibly friendly. They always check in multiple times to make sure everything was just right. The food? The brisket melts in your mouth, the rub on the ribs is spot-on. I tried the Big Papa - baked potato with brisket and it was good. Our table tried the pork belly burnt ends, jalapeño mac n cheese and tacos and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The tres leches banana pudding is a must-try! Everyone was raving about it. Pricing : Prices are on the higher side. Still, the overall experience and quality of food land this place firmly in my top 10 for Texas BBQ. Will I return? : For sure!

Yelp
We stopped in on a weeknight, so it wasn't too busy. There's a typical BBQ line setup for ordering, but the line was moving slowly, so we went ahead and ordered at the bar instead--easy enough, and they've got a full bar, which is always a plus. The restaurant is open and bright, with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu features classic Texas BBQ with a delicious Tex-Mex twist. Some special items are only available on weekends, so keep that in mind if you're hoping to try something unique. Service was super friendly, and once we ordered, the food came out quickly. We shared the El Jefe platter, and the portions were very generous--definitely great for sharing with several friends. Everything we tried was tasty: the charro beans were stellar, the turkey was surprisingly juicy, the hatch mac was creamy and flavorful, and the pulled pork with mustard BBQ sauce had a perfect tang and was nice and moist. The only letdown was the burnt ends, which didn't quite hit the mark. Overall, highly recommend if you're looking for solid Texas 'que with a twist. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Hurtado Barbecue is a regional BBQ joint in North Texas that fused Texas Barbecue and Tex-Mex. I've followed their smoky trail from the original Arlington location to the ballpark vibes at Globe Life Field. But this review is all about their newest gem nestled in the heart of the Dallas Farmers Market. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Hurtado Barbecue's newest location in the Dallas Farmers Market is a win for Dallasites. It's the perfect location with plentiful seating, both indoors and out, making it a great spot whether you're catching up with friends or just soaking in the downtown Marketplace feels. The outdoor area is especially inviting and with comfortable seating and corn hole. 1 Star. Service - The staff here are excellent, helpful, and always smiling. You place your order at the counter, get a number, and then sit back while the magic happens. The staff brings your food right to your table, checks in to make sure everything's perfect, and even clears your plates when you're done. It's a thoughtful, full-service experience that elevates the casual BBQ joint experience. 1 Star. Food - Hurtado Barbecue was the first to combine Texas BBQ with Tex-Mex, and IT WORKS. I started with the Brisket: Melt-in-your-mouth perfection. It's got that deep smoky bark, a juicy pink smoke ring, and just the right amount of fat to make each bite a savory dream. Then I then moved to the Brisket Tostada: Crispy tostada shell piled high with chopped brisket, creamy avocado, tangy slaw, and a drizzle of house sauce. It's a flavor bomb with crunch, spice, and soul. Due to the heat from my tostada, I finished with the Tres Leches Banana Pudding: It's rich, creamy, and layered with just the right amount of banana and vanilla wafer goodness. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. With its excellent location, Hurtado has earned a spot in my BBQ rotation. Whether you're a BBQ purist or just hungry for smoked meat with a Tex-Mex twist, Hurtado's Dallas Farmers Market location delivers on every level. It's a fantastic addition to the city's food scene and a new favorite for me. P.S. The parking stinks. 1 Star.

Yelp
Stopped in for a relaxed Saturday with my partner and had an excellent experience. Our bartender, Jacob, delivered truly top-tier customer service from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and clearly knowledgeable about what he was serving. The drinks were well-balanced, smooth, and honestly much better than expected for the price. What stood out most was Jacob's professionalism and the calm, welcoming energy he brought to the bar. You can tell he takes pride in making sure his guests feel comfortable and cared for. If you're looking for great drinks and genuinely exceptional service, Jacob is the one to look for. We'll definitely be back. -- Malcolm

Yelp
Great bbq place to visit if you're in the farmers market area. You have the option of waiting in line to place your order or getting your order taken by one of the bartenders (which is what I did). The food comes out quick. The burnt ends are huge chunks of pork belly, and not burnt or drowning in sauce. The jalapeño sausage was my favorite. Along with the brisket beans. The cornbread was okay, kinda dry. The Mac and cheese was a liquidy kinda sauce, similar to terry blacks. But overall, it was a good experience and great tasting bbq. 3 people sharing the 3 meat/2 sides platter plus another 1/2lb of ribs and 2 extra sides, plus 1 banana pudding was about $80. GET THE BANANA PUDDING. Fresh bananas, and a different kind of cookie that's not a vanilla wafer or chessman. That is all.

Yelp
Amazing experience start to finish here at Hurtado. Mischa (hopefully spelled correct) was great and very thorough. Her smile was very welcoming . The brisket is the best we have tried in Texas. We tried a little of everything and it was all great. I personally enjoy banana pudding and I'll say the tres leches banana pudding is the only banana pudding I'd say that is as good or better than my grandmas recipe of banana pudding. Met Andrew the owner and he introduced us to his new sauce the peach habanero and it has a smooth flavor with a mild kick at the end.

Yelp
The food at Hurtado Barbecue is oh so good. From the Texas Twinkie, the Mac n cheese, the turkey, the Mexican cornbread, the birria taco and so much more. Everything I have tried from here has been good. The birria taco is spicy and very tasty. The Texas Twinkie is like that, you will not be disappointed. The service is so good. It's best to come before 7 because they don't want to cook more food and risk it being wasted as they get closer to closing. The ambiance is great. Souther hospitality at its finest !! Thanks for take great food while visiting Dallas!

Yelp
Okay Okay... I want to first say that I come from a city that is known for BBQ so it is really hard to impress me. Food & Price Point (3/5): We got the Big Papa , 2 Meats plate, and a Twinkie ( $60) . Now first issue, the 2 piece meat plate literally came with one rib LOL. I understand that they measure out the meat to be 1/4 of a lb each, but when you see that translate to ONE rib .... that is literally laughable. The meat itself on the plate was good, but not outstanding. My stuffed potato was good, but my potato itself could have been been cooked a little longer, and the amount of meat was less than I would have expected. I think the best part of the meals were the Green Beans and the Twinkie (Stuffed Pepper) . Service/Location (5/5): This Hurtado location is very nice, clean, and spacious. Located right next to the Dallas Farmers Market! I swear everyone working there spoke to us, made sure we were comfortable, and they were very attentive!

Yelp
The first Texas BBQ I had when my husband and I stopped in Dallas during a cross country road trip. It blew me away. The brisket melts, ribs on the meat fell off the bone, and the pulled pork was easy to chew. The bar was amazing- there's TVs and premier spirits displayed with the amazing decor. I had a Michelada and it was really good. I would definitely come back and highly recommend.
google avatar

Sunny K.

Yelp
Great service, great location, great bbq, but not great price. This location is conveniently located across from the Dallas farmer's market and you can tell by the prices but I'm not too mad about it. It's nice to know that there is reputable restaurant in the area. If your favorite food truck/stand at the farmer's market sells out, Hurtado's is a great alternative. PS: try the tres leches banana pudding... you're welcome :)
google avatar

Yelp
GET THE CHIPS & QUESO! Comes with crispy seasoned chips & salsa too. Soo dang good. I got the brisket tostada & it was piled HIGH w/brisket cooked perfectly, fresh chopped onions, cilantro & some japs. The tostada shell was crispy & fresh. I ordered a side of flour tortillas & made a taco w/some of it- delicious!!! The employees were super friendly & the restaurant is decorated beautifully masculine. We'll be back!

Yelp
Hurtado We went to their location near the farmers market and they portrayed the epitome of southern hospitality. Service was quick and prices were fair. The brisket was on the drier end so we were disappointed. The bologna didn't have much flavor either. The star of the show was definitely the ribs, Birria taco and banana pudding!! Probably one of the best banana puddings we've ever had!! What we ordered and ratings: Brisket ‍ 4/10 ‍6/10 Pork ribs ‍ 7.5/10 ‍ 8/10 Bologna ‍4/10 ‍ 6/10 Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage ‍9/10 ‍ 7.5/10 Texas Twinkie ‍2/10 ‍ 5.5/10 Hatch Chile Mac ‍6/10 ‍ 7.5/10 Potato Casserole ‍5/10 ‍ 6/10 Elotes ‍5/10 ‍ 6/10 Tres Leches Banana Pudding ‍10/10 ‍ 9/10 Mexican Hot Chocolate Pot De Crème ‍7/10 ‍ 6/10

Yelp
The food was good but it wasn't unique and had that wow factor compared to other barbecue places. The prices are average and the place is large for big groups of which was nice.
google avatar

Yelp
I took my east coast family of 14 to Hurtado at Farmers Market a couple of weeks ago and we were extremely impressed with the quality of the BBQ. I also heard many comments saying how delicious everything was. Love the space with its clean feel and spacious seating. Also, the service was outstanding!!!! We were well taken care of for a very large party and thoroughly enjoyed their outdoor corn hole section-and especially the swings!
google avatar

Yelp
Finally had a chance to try Hurtado Barbecue at their newest location in the heart of Dallas Farmer's Market. The space looks fantastic and the service is definitely very welcoming. I had the Texas Trinity ( brisket, pork ribs, jalapeño cheddar sausage) along with an order of Texas Twinkie. While the brisket had a nice bark and decent smoke, the ribs were tender and meaty, and sausage packed a good snap. I wish it had just a bit more depth in flavor. I think the burger, birria tacos and brisket tostada is where the money is at which I am really excited to try on my future visit and a second heaping of their Tres Leches Banana Pudding on the next is a total must.

Yelp
What a way to celebrate June UYE, BBQ @ Hurtado's new location at the Dallas Farmers Market. The selection today for the fam: (1) Prime Rib Bone, 1 lb FOUR SIXES Prime Brisket, 1 lb Spare Ribs and 1/2 lb Pulled Pork. Sides included: French Fries, Green Beans w/Chorizo, Hatch Mac & Cheese. ALL. OUTSTANDING! The service and attention to detail (asking preference on beef... marbled, lean, juicy, extra sauce, etc) was friendly and great. The vibe is, "If you leave here hungry and grumpy, it's your own damn fault!"

Yelp
Little bit of a wait during busy hours 5:30-7:30. Really great BBQ!! It came out fast. They were out of brisket but everything else was top notch. El jefe for two people is perfect. Cheaper and better than terry blacks

Yelp
Decided to swing by on father's day weekend. The line was right at the door but you can tell they're well practiced in their craft that even the line flowed smoothly. The food comes out after you order but you can see it being prepared by the staff through these windows behind the cash register. The place was packed but there is enough indoor and out door seating that you don't feel crammed and overwhelmed. I ordered one combo that came with 1/3 pound of 3 meats. I went with the brisket, jalapeño sausage and chopped pork. Also added the pork belly. For the 2 sides I got the chorizo green beans and the loaded mashed potatoes. Dessert was the banana pudding with the nice crispy Gamesa cookies. My wife went with the pork belly banh mi. Daughter had the burger. The burger was MASSIVE. Wife's sandwich was nice and crunchy and full of flavor. I ordered the texas twinkies but they were out of stock. Ill definitely be back. Next time I'll probably just go with a pound of brisket, pound of pork belly and some sides. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Myk P.

Yelp
Just OK. Brisket was too fatty for my taste and sides were not memorable. On the positive side the staff was very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
I was simply amazed at the quality of the BBQ and how amazing every bite of meat and the sides was. The place can get packed, but the food is worth it. It's not cheap bbq, but also you have to pay to get great food. There's also free street parking nearby, so don't pay for parking right outside of the restaurant. There's also a ton of staff walking around the restaurant at all times to clean up and check if you need anything. I definitely will be coming back and you should give this a place a try.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, friendly service. We came close to opening and didn't have to wait in line, just walked right up to the counter. The location is pretty big, lots of inside and outside space and a bar! Food was tasty, we ordered the lean brisket, pulled pork, a side of the mac and cheese and a side of street corn. Everything was delicious! I would definitely eat here again.

Yelp
A Must-Visit BBQ Experience in Dallas! Hurtado BBQ at the Dallas Farmers Market completely blew me away. The food? Unforgettable -- hands down the best BBQ I've ever had in a restaurant setting. From the house-made sausage to the perfectly smoked meats and flavorful sides, every bite was next-level. But what truly sets Hurtado apart is the experience. I was welcomed with incredible hospitality, given a behind-the-scenes tour of the smokers, and learned so much about the thoughtful techniques and pride that go into every dish. The space is beautiful and elevated, offering a dining experience that goes far beyond traditional BBQ. Hurtado BBQ has earned a permanent spot on my personal list of favorites -- it now tops my BBQ recommendations and is featured under my "FAVs" and "Mondays & Sundays" go-to categories. Whether you're a local or visiting Dallas, this is a stop you won't want to miss. I'll be sending many guests their way!

Yelp
I would 100% come back to this place again and again! The food was mouth wateringly delicious, tender with every single bite. The brisket was definitely my favorite but not one thing we tried was bad. The drinks were delicious and Jenna (I think) was so attentive and friendly. The locals we talked with were so nice & raved about the staff and food of this place we couldn't not stop! Once we were there I understood why everyone loved the place.

Yelp
What a great place for some good ol' Texas BBQ! Walked into a n extremely cleans and organized restaurant! I say this because if you've gone to as many bbq joints as I have, it can be a task to figure out where to line up, order ford, pick up food etc. Not here. Everything was laid out and signs were prevalent. Wife and I ordered the weekend special, chilequilles and a small order of meat (brisket, sausage, turkey) and a few sides. We had the elotes, bacon wrapped jalapeno, and tater tot casserole. All I have to say is OMG to all of it! They hit it out of the park on everything!! Meats tender and not over-seasoned, sides were also perfectly good and seasoned. Y'all, the service was EXCELLENT!! We always had an employee asking if we needed anything or asking how our meal was to the point it was almost annoying. Nah, these people killed it in all aspects of their restaurant!
google avatar

Ngoc P.

Yelp
I visted with my bestie and she really wanted to try Texas BBQ. Hurtado was absolutely amazing. Clean space, good vibes, nice people and awesome food! We shared the 3 meat with 2 sides meal. The brisket, Ribs, and pulled pork tasted delicious. My friend loved the brisket especially! We would definitely recommend you make a stop if you're in downtown Dallas!
google avatar

Yelp
Second Hurtado I've been to. I love how new the restaurant is, especially with the plentiful amt of outside seating. Order at the front counter, they give you a number and they will bring your order to you. The service was very attentive and always asking how things are which was great! I love how personable it was. Food wise, I had to knock a star b/c it wasn't as tender as the other Hurtado location! The flavor was there, but it wasn't as fall off the bone as it could've been.
google avatar

Yelp
They quickly becoming my fav BBQ place. It was better than the last time I went. And they put real cheese in the Mac n cheese. Loved it.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was excellent, meat was so tender. Not too pricey, it wasn't over crowded Clean place, quiet enough to have a good conversation with others. Staff were nice and helpful It was my first experience here in Dallas at this location. I'd recommend going

Yelp
Friendly service and great bbq! Love everything that has brisket on it! Great spot in dallas - with a spacious open patio for the pups (or kids)! Arlington locations is still my favorite.
google avatar

Yelp
We took a trip into Dallas and went to a couple touristy spots. We passed a farmer's market during lunch time and wow, there is a Hurtado's here. This location is much fancier than the Arlington location. Food was amazing as expected. A little dry on the turkey but still better than anywhere else I've been. I tried the burger and it was SO GOOD! The staff was nice but not as friendly as the Arlington location. Perhaps Megan from Arlington can come inspire the team here. I must say I've been to quite a few BBQ spot all over Texas over the past few weeks. Hurtado's I could be my favorite. Since this is my third time in Four weeks! Keep up the great work.

Yelp
I visited the downtown location for takeout. Service was friendly and quick. The presentation was impressive and clearly showed that they care about their food. I ordered 1/2 lb of pork ribs, 1/2 lb of brisket and a single mac & cheese. The portion sizes were good. The brisket was not as tender or flavorful as I would like. The ribs were pretty good and very tender. The flavor was still lacking a bit. Definitely would recommend visiting Terry Black's instead.

Yelp
Love the area, food was okay we were recommended 'El Patron' bundle by a staff member and it was more than we expected as a family of 4. I would say this feeds 6-8 people. Overall taste of the food was average but will satisfy a bbq craving. The location is beautiful and if you go out into the patio it's really homey and a great spot to relax.

Yelp
I was in the Farmers Market District and decided to try Hurtado Barbecue for lunch. I went ahead and ordered a Brisket Sandwich Combo which includes a side and drink. I also like to get my meat chopped but this time they ended up slicing it. I got the Hatch Corn and also tried the Mac and Cheese. The Sandwich was actually really good. The meat had a nice smoky flavor and at first it looked pretty dry but I was surprised as it was very tender. The sides that I got with my sandwich were just average. But now bad. At least now I can say I scratched Hurtado BBQ out of my list.

Yelp
We tried this place on a recent trip to the Farmer's Market area. They were doing a soft opening at the time. The place is massive. They have a different set up than the location we have been to in Arlington, but the BBQ is still consistent. When we entered the building we were directed to a line that curved around some gift shop items. That allowed us to look at a menu and then put our order in with a staff member that had a hand-held kiosk. From there, you walk to the registers to pay. Unsure what the point of the ordering system is if you go to a register to pay anyway? It's literally 10 feet and 10 seconds different between kiosk and register employees. The Texas trinity platter was fantastic. The turkey sandwich was tasty. They have a large bar area with a great bourbon selection and a massive patio. We will definitely be back when the weather is better for patio time.

Yelp
Thank you for our Texas BBQ experience! There were many establishments we could have gone to, but we're glad we chose Hurtado's . First time for having burnt ends!

Yelp
We were in town for a work conference and stopped at Hurtado Barbecue for lunch. The food itself was fantastic--delicious, flavorful, and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and helpful, making the dining part of the experience a real win. Unfortunately, everything was overshadowed by the parking nightmare. The lot is a pay-to-park system run by a third-party company (not the restaurant), and it requires scanning a QR code. Simple enough in theory, but the system wouldn't process payments. I had to call the service number, sat on hold for two minutes, then was told I'd be transferred. After being stuck on the phone for over 20 minutes while trying to eat, I never actually spoke to anyone who could help. Instead, I was directed to "resolve it via email." To be clear, the restaurant has no control over the parking lot--it's managed by another company--but the stress and wasted time completely ruined the experience. No matter how good the food is, the headache of worrying about fines and wasting time on the phone isn't worth it. My tip: If you're here on vacation or business, only come if you can walk or Uber. Otherwise, skip it--the parking lot fiasco will ruin your visit.

Yelp
We visited the downtown location which is huge compared to the other locations. It was 5 adults so we ordered the El Patron platter and we had so much leftovers. Always a great choice when in Dallas.

Yelp
Awesome food. Even better people. My son and I were lucky enough to "meat" (haha) the owner, Brandon, when we went in. Very nice guy who makes great food. My son has been talking about how he loved the BBQ and loved meeting the people who helped us well.

Yelp
A Tex-Mex BBQ that is worth your money :) P.s ask for fatty for the brisket, it will melt in your mouth. Highly recommend. The mac and cheese had the right combination of cheesy and seasoning. The bacon potato salad was creamy with a bit of texture and crunchy bacon that mixed really nicely together. The banana bread pudding is good but I got my a bit room temperature. Would had loved it a bit cooler. Overalll a good meal :)))

Yelp

Yelp
The brisket is to die for! We ordered a platter that included 1/3 lbs. each of brisket, ribs, and sausage. We were worried that it would be too much food for the 2 of us - nope! We ate it all with no regrets. Well, one regret... that we didn't bring the cooler with us to Dallas so we could take more home for dinner. This will definitely be a go to destination for us in the future!

Yelp
The food is delicious and on point. If you've been to the Arlington location before, it's what you would expect food wise. Before I get into all that though. What really wins me over with them is the amazing customer service. Everyone was great and very helpful and the location of the restaurant is ideal with it right by the farmers market. The food is great, but great food mixed with great service is what keeps me coming back. I got the el jefe plate and you get a lot of food. The brisket is amazing and the turkey is underrated but tastes great. I enjoyed the burnt ends, sausage and pulled pork as well. And the sides were on point. It's a good meal and honestly is enough to feed two people. I didn't get them today, but their birria tacos are some of the best tacos I've had anywhere. I'm glad I don't have to go to Arlington anymore to get my fix.

Yelp
Visited from UK had 1 3 meat plate brisket, burnt ends, turkey with red coleslaw and fries and 1 trinity meal inc brisket ribs sausage and mac and cheese. Very clean place, friendly staff excellent food and drink, very tender meats, falling apart and very tasty. Will return tomorrow night to try something different as lots of yummy dishes on the menu.
