Hutch’s continues to deliver—this was my third visit in three months. We started with the ceviche and soft shell crab appetizers—both fresh and full of flavor. For our mains, the Portuguese fish stew was rich and comforting, while the jambalaya pasta packed just the right amount of heat and depth. We finished with the crème brûlée and blueberry crisp, both beautifully executed and satisfying. Service began strong—attentive and friendly—but noticeably tapered off after our entrees were served. (It felt like the four-top next to us took priority for the rest of the evening.) Still, the overall experience was excellent, and I’m looking forward to my next visit. TL, DR: It’s delicious! Just go!

I had dinner with some colleagues at Hutch’s on May 14. The service was slow and the server never communicated a backup or delay from the kitchen. I am completing an expense report and noticed the charge on my card was for more than I left on the receipt. I transcribed the amount left for a tip on my customer receipt as $365. The amount I was charged on my card was $365.96. I wasn’t going to leave a poor review for the bad service, but after noticing the incorrect charge, I feel the need.

We got a low table in the bar area for an early dinner. Service was top notch from the moment we walked in. Everyone is friendly, attentive and helpful. Food was VERY good. Steaks (tenderloins) were tender and well seasoned, mashed potatoes were honestly amazing. Vegetables were a just a bit dry and my husband thought his steak was a hair undercooked but overall a very good meal and great dining experience.

The service was surprisingly terrible on a recent visit. We arrived on time for our reservation. Seated. Water poured. Noticed other parties seated after us getting service. We waited a long time - still nothing. After 45 minutes, I went to the host desk to let them know we still hadn’t received service, that no one came by to start our drink orders. He told me that someone would be right out. It took another 10 minutes after that before someone finally came to our table. The host/manager apologized, comped our drinks and apps. But for an institution like Hutch’s, there shouldn’t be an off night or breakdown in staff communication. Excellence in service is achieved through consistency and high standards. To go almost an hour is unreasonably too long to wait for dining service to begin at any restaurant, let alone Hutch’s. The inside is usually too noisy for conversation, so I’d recommend the patio if the weather is fine and if there’s no construction on Delaware. In our case, we ended up with a view of construction equipment. The food was okay. This was not our first time there, so I think we’re probably over this place after this experience. I wouldn’t say I’d not recommend this restaurant, but be prepared for service inconsistencies if you’re thinking of going here.

.Absolutely Awful Experience - Ruined Family Celebration Where do I even begin? We made a reservation three weeks in advance for a special family celebration, hoping for a memorable night. Instead, we got a masterclass in how to run a restaurant poorly. Despite booking so far ahead, we waited for over an hour past our reservation time. We were eventually told our table was still unavailable and were shunted into the bar area to eat, completely ruining the celebratory atmosphere we’d planned for. The service was shockingly bad from the moment we arrived. We were met by wait staff who were not just unfriendly, but genuinely impersonal, and this unpleasant attitude persisted throughout the entire meal. It felt like an imposition just being there. The food, when it finally arrived, added to the misery. Three of the four expensive filets we ordered were cooked incorrectly. We desperately tried to get our waitress’s attention to fix this, but she repeatedly ignored us, just walking by. After waiting for well over two hours in total and being absolutely starving (the three tiny pieces of bread for six people were laughable), we gave up and just ate the improperly cooked steaks. Honestly, if you want a good steak delivered with even a shred of friendly service, go literally anywhere else. We are profoundly disappointed and feel like our time and money were completely wasted on what should have been a happy family occasion. This restaurant got far more of our time than they deserved for such a terrible experience.

Stopped here on our honey moon as we traveled, and wow! The shrimp & grits were good! My HUSBANDS fried chicken and potatoe salad were tasty too! We will definitely be back! Cat (with a C) gave awesome service! We were pleased with our whole experience.

I was told this place was better than. Prescott's Provisions. I was told wrong. I had the bone in tenderloin for $90 and it wasn't really seasoned. The butter scotch tart was good however. Like a lot of buffalo, this place is here still only because it been here for a long time.

Google
It had been awhile since we had dinner at Hutch's - I was a little hesitant because of the reviews. But I have to say everything was excellent. I had the Beef Tenderloin 'Au Poivre' - My guests had the Rib Eye, Pork Chop, and Grouper - We did try each others dish and I had to say they were all very good. We then all asked if this was worth the cost of each dish. In my opinion, yes I do believe my dish was worth every penny. I don't normally order 'Au Poivre ' because it usually taste like chewing raw peppercorns - but it was done perfect and that sauce was amazing- I do suggest with any steak that doesn't come with a sauce to add the brandy cream sauce, it will bring it to the next level. Also my guest had curry sauce that was again one of the best I've had. The service was on point, friendly, helpful as he recommended the dish for me. The only thing that was disappointing was I had ordered the Poblano appetizer and only had 1/2 of it, I asked to have it wrapped and It never made it in my to-go bag. That was super sad cause I was really looking forward to that - it was so good. But the take away is everything is expensive - especially a good cut of meat and to have it prepared perfectly, add an amazing sauce, with crisp tender vegetables and fluffy mash potatoes. Then YES it's worth every penny.. I think this Hutch's has one of the best steaks I have had in Buffalo and I've been to all the restaurants here.

Yelp
Insanely good. I'm always on the hunt for the next best cooked steak, and found it here. It lived up to the hype. We went on a date night here (reservations recommended because it was packed). I got the ribeye, and it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We had the tuna tar tar and the pork belly appetizer and both were also phenomenal. It's upscale and pricey but worth every penny.

Yelp
We were seated at a two person table which I think is really too small for two people, but I soon discovered that the tables with 4 place settings would fill up quickly. We had an earl(5:30) reservation; the restaurant was quite full when we left(at least the room we were in. There are more rooms, but they seemed to be closed off last night.) I ordered the Faroe Island Salmon. It was perfectly cooked, served on a bed of garlic spinach. The salmon was grilled and Cajun seasoned. There were 3 oven roasted red potatoes and nice grilled slices of red bell pepper and yellow squash. The bread is not a basket on the table but rather a "bread lady" offering slices of tomato focaccia, a rosemary cheesy bread or a slice of baguette. She return a second time while we were waiting for our dinners. The bread slices were delicious; this serving method also prevents waste. It's not inexpensive to eat here, but worth every bite.

Yelp
I drove by this restaurant many, many times, but never visited. It was time to change that. We were seated in the original part of the restaurant (before they expanded into the former flower shop). That part looks small, but I noticed there were more rooms and a bar area somewhat hidden in the back. The tables are a bit close together. I was in a steak mood and they have several options. I went for the. beef tenderloin "au poivre", an 8oz. peppercorn crusted steak, , pan-seared with a brandy cream sauce. It was served with some pieces of squash on a bed of spinach and a generous serving of mashed potatoes. I requested medium rare and the chef delivered. The sauce was great. It's not inexpensive ($64.95) but it was excellent.

Yelp
Hutch's for the win as always! Went there on a Tuesday evening to celebrate a birthday. The service is exceptional, lot of attention to detail. We sat in the bar room, which was a nice cozy experience, but maybe a bit loud. The food was excellent, from the bread basket or our entrees and appetizers. I've never had a bad time at hutch's so I am glad to have gone back and will most definitely be returning.

Yelp
I came here for the first time for my 1 year anniversary with my husband & it was a great choice since we both love meat and seafood. Menu is very straightforward & I love how it includes the origin of where the food came from. Our server was amazing, enthusiastic & helpful as he gave us wonderful recommendations for us first timers. We decided on calamari, bison steak & the steak and frites. We both agreed that hutches was the best steak we ever had ever! Everything was cooked to perfection & left your mouth with an explosion of flavors. Trying the bison meat for the first time was a great choice as the meat was so tender and lean. We truly had an amazing time & we would most definitely come back again!

Yelp
We sat right next to the ramp to outside. I'm right handed and the glass was to my right, so I kept hitting it with my elbow. We tried to move the table a bit away but then it was wobbly. I don't remember the servers name, but she was good, I think I would have liked her to be slightly more attentive though. Tomato & Fresh Mozzarella Salad 10/10 Super fresh and delicious. All ingredients paired well with each other. Traditional Steak Tartare 10/10 Very flavorful and good seasoning. Steak was tender. I thought the bread was too hard and crunchy. Bison strip (daily special) 9/10 Medium. Cooked perfectly. Seasoned with salt and pepper. It was very good, I just wish it had more flavor like finished in butter and rosemary or something. Steak frites 8/10 Medium rare. Was slightly over cooked. A little closer to medium. Seasoned with salt and pepper, flavor on the steak was good. Truffle butter was delicious and the truffle flavor was great. Fries were overcooked, garlic aioli tasted good though. Double chocolate brownie sundae 10/10 Brownie was delicious, melty and gooey inside. Ice cream was vanilla bean. Tasted homemade. Delicious flavor.

Yelp
Hutch's is a solid spot and has become a staple visit whenever I'm in town. I focused mostly on the specials during my visit, and while some dishes were excellent, others were just okay. The escargot was great, served in a delicious buttery garlic sauce with bread for dipping. Their ribs (not pictured) are also good--great sauce and a nice char. The special monkfish, served osso buco style with shrimp and rice, was solid but didn't quite wow me. The real star was the seasonal sautéed soft shell crab. It came with rice, veggies, and an incredible white wine/buttery sauce. I returned specifically to have it again, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the first experience--the crabs were a bit anemic, the sauce lacked the bright citrus notes, and they served a smaller portion of it this time around. Service was attentive, especially by the bussers, but the wait staff service can be inconsistent. Some waiters were on point, while others seemed either too busy or less engaged to deliver the same level of service. In terms of ambiance, the move is to come here early to enjoy a nice romantic evening out. It can get quite busy and frankly loud, especially in the bar area, when you come during peak hours. Hutch's has the potential to be an exceptional dining destination, but the inconsistent food and service, along with the loud ambiance during my visits knocks it down to 4 stars IMO. I'd still recommend it, especially for those signature dishes, but there's room for improvement to make it a truly standout experience.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible service. So stingy with the bread. Our food was undercooked and when we asked for it to be taken back, we were scoffed at. They microwaved our lamb chop and steak, brought it back to the table. We then again complained just to get offered a free $10 dessert. Awful service. I would never recommend.

Yelp
We had dinner reservations, upon arrival we were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant is a lot bigger since last time mi was here was years ago! Really nice tho. Overall ambiance was okay. A little loud as the restaurant got crowded. Our server came over, provided us the specials of the day. Gave her recommendations. Spaced out apps to entrees. Everything was delicious including our Oregon Pinot Noir. We started with oysters, had the sliced bacon which has a caramlized flavor, really good. The tomato and mozzarella salad with prosciutto was delicious. For dinner we had the strip steak and jambalaya pasta. Both were excellent. Was a little nervous coming to visit with the most recent unfavorable reviews but we had a great visit. S

Yelp
Went here for my birthday dinner on a coworker's recommendation. The space is very nice, the space between the tables are a little tight though. The place filled up quick on a Thursday night so definitely make a reservation ahead of time! Our server was very nice, attentive and informative about the specials for the night. We actually ended up going with his recommendations for the appetizers. The drinks and the food were all delicious and I would definitely order everything again! The portions were all really big. My one critique would be that the shishito peppers needed more salt or it needed to be salted a bit more evenly. My husband was getting full but I convinced him to split a dessert and he was glad he did. The sticky toffee pudding with the vanilla gelato was a great way to end our dinner.

Yelp
A must-go when in Buffalo. Great service, tenderloin cooked perfectly, fresh oysters, and one of the best cocktails I've had in WNY. Definitely make reservations.

Yelp
We had a delicious, relaxing date night here. Service was great, the apps, salad and meal were served in a very non rushed manner. Food was very good. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The atmosphere is nice, the one thing that we didn't like was that there didn't seem to be many bathrooms for the size of the restaurant.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience at Hutch's last night. The Swordfish was beautifully cooked as my fork cut through it like a hot knife would butter. The Stuffed Poblano Pepper was a vibe all by itself. Delicious. Richard was a great server and I'd definitely want to sit in his section again... even though he promised me a hug and threatened to squeeze the $#!+ outta him. He smiled, joked, and seemed to really enjoy being there which always makes for a better experience for people dining in. The restaurant was busy, loud, and pumping out some great food. It's been expanded and has taken over the space which used to be a floral shoppe right next door. An amazing experience all around! I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Buffalo staple! Husband and I really indulged starting with a dozen oysters. Excellent. Both entrees were on the special menu and were out of this world. Then for dessert we had the chocolate brownie with homemade gelato. Service is always on point. The Bussers are very attentive with the bread and water service . Our waitress was excellent. They don't rush you and you can truly enjoy the experience.

Yelp
Phenomenal! I had heard amazing things about Hutch's for years and finally made it in for a surprise birthday dinner from my friends. Each and every one of us absolutely loved and raved over our meals and drinks. Some of the freshest oysters and a delicious meatball to start our night, with espresso martini's and wine. I had the pork chop special with pear chutney and WOW, the biggest and moist cut of pork I've had with an amazing flavor profile. I had the fruit cookie for dessert and it was absolutely divine. Our server, Amanda, was so friendly and helpful, suggesting apps, working with my friend to find the perfect red wine for her, and even humoring my other friend to pick a meal and surprise her- and she picked well! Good service makes all the difference and we can't say enough about her and the atmosphere here. I have friends who routinely come to Hutch's and all I can say is I've been influenced and hope to return much more frequently! Thanks for an amazing dinner experience to celebrate my 30th!

Yelp
Hutch's is the model class steak house of Buffalo!!! I surprised my wife with a reservation on a Friday at 5 and we were thoroughly impressed with the food, service and ambiance! We were sat in the elegant and beautiful front dining room. We ordered wine and the caramelized bacon appetizer which was five stars! My wife ordered the bison steak which was cooked to medium rare perfection! I ordered the steak Au Poivre and was blown away at how tasty this was! I would recommend 5 out 5 and will definitely be coming back for those special occasions to celebrate!

Yelp
Very cool spot in Buffalo that I have visited several times now. Great back bar with old school brick ambience. Delicious menu that mixes classics with some Buffalo culture and wonderful staff. I took a group there but going back and sitting at the back bar enjoying a cocktail and having the meatballs.

Yelp
The Scarlet Vetter says......it had been almost a decade since I had been to this restaurant, but the hubby and I were at odds in Buffalo for a place to go and a client had given me a $50 gift certificate as a thank you, so we decided to try it out. We booked for Friday at 5 pm online and arrived in a timely fashion. The restaurant needed a few more minutes to set up, and we were directed to the bar. I really like the light and decor and space in the bar and we ordered a drink each. My husband ordered a mixed drink from the drink menu, a "Dangerously Delicious" and I ordered club soda with splashes of creole bitters and a cucumber garnish. Both were delicious. After a few minutes, we were ready to go to our table, and we were escorted to a table on the raised level by the kitchen. We decided to order oysters and the stuffed poblano pepper as appetizers. They were great! The chef placed two different types of oysters on the plate for me to try with two sauces, cocktail sauce with fresh grated horseradish and a tart mignonette sauce. The Poblano pepper was truly delicious. The green sauce on it was so very flavorful, too! We both ordered the Bison 13 oz steak for our entree and a side of crisp tobacco onions. I ordered mine medium rare, and the hubby ordered his medium. They arrived true to ordered temperature. It was one of the best steaks I have had in years! Both of us took half of our steaks home as they were very large. The cippolini onions on the steak were excellent, as were the tobacco onions. I ordered double veg rather than creamed potatoes and veg. Thin, crisp green beans, and a charred sweet red pepper were the veg that evening. Very good! We hardly ever order dessert, and we did not that evening either as we were very full, so unfortunately, I do not have anything to comment on there. The bill was steep. All in with drinks and tip, it was close to $250. Easy to see how it gets that high with each steak at $69. Excellent food, however. Despute the price, I would go back if I had a special occasion as it was that good. The server was quite extraordinary. Ask for Kevin, and you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
My family and I have been devotees for years, but something happened after the owner replaced Tempo with Angeline; he trusted his fate and reputation with people not as invested or committed to excellence as he was. We ordered several small dishes, bottled water, and drinks, but we were unhappy with the food. The kale salad was overdressed and super tart. The ribs were unpleasant. The Jambalaya pasta was over-reduced, and super salty, and the escargot was pure butter, not worth re-ordering. I remember the food being excellent, although the short ribs were underwhelming. If the owner is going to devote time to a new project, he must ensure he has people inserted in the Hutch's kitchen to execute his vision.

Yelp
Went on Saturday 3/2/24, not going to lie. It was arguably, one of the most disappointing service I have ever had in Buffalo. Service was slow, hostess, waitress, and manager were extremely short and clearly irritated. I had a reservation for 5:30 PM, showed up and it was not busy at all. However, it took me 30 minutes to get a bottle of wine and a cocktail. I ordered an appetizer, two main entrées, and a dessert. I would say maybe one item of the entire order was cooked I desired. Steak, lamb, chicken, all below standard. when we confronted the waiting staff about the quality of food we received, we were met with snide remarks and dirty looks.. and even slower service. After receiving around $350 worth of food, we got $20 off for our troubles and further snide remarks and slow service. Not sure if this was an off night or if this is the expectation for Buffalo restaurants moving forward, but I would say this is not worth the money or trouble at all. Lamb chops were ordered medium well.. not a bbq expert but this is far from such.

Yelp
Had a great dinner. I was originally going to get a steak but they had swordfish au poivre as a special so I got that. It was delicious. Fish was perfectly cooked and the cream sauce was amazing with a nice amount of various peppercorns. Service was great, someone was checking on us or topping off the water frequently to make sure we were never waiting if we needed something.

Yelp
Delightful meal. I was a guest at Hutch's this week. It's really hard to do business when eating, but Hutch's talented waitstaff were so aware of their diners, we had a great dinner and a great conversation. I had the salmon and it was perfect. I really cannot use another word. I honestly ate it all first because it was so elite. The side dishes were also great but the salmon was the star of the show. I know nothing of Buffalo's food scene but clearly there is one. I'll be back soon and I will NOT miss an opportunity it's to dine at Hutch's again. What a great dining room too, very cool use of the space. Thanks for having me!!!!! I can't wait to come back. Chef's kiss!

Yelp
Amazing steaks, ambiance, wine and cocktails. It's a classic bar & grill where the Alleybar was back in the 70's and 80's. Servers and hosts are excellent too. Definitely $$$, but you gotta live it up once in a while.
google avatar

Devin W.

Yelp
Top notch and high class is what I call dining at Hutch's. A lot of guest are regulars there but for me it's a treat. Enjoyed dining on their patio which is in the front. Our server Shannon and her helper were Excellent. Our meals were flavorful and cooked as we requested. Definitely try the Bison Strip steak, you will not be disappointed!!! Also if you love lamb , their chops are tops!! Lavender cocktail was unique and tasty as well.

Yelp
Came to celebrate my husband's birthday. Cocktails were perfect, and small plates were so flavorful. Specials menu had lots of choices and we both enjoyed our mains. Would highly recommend for a date night.

Yelp
Hutch's is one of the best restaurants in Buffalo. We celebrated a birthday here recently and started with the oysters. We had the wedge salad and steak and frites and the strip steak. Everything was cooked exceptionally and was extremely flavorful. Our waiter was great. He was very pleasant and attentive. The dining room is super cozy and decorated in a welcoming manner. This is the perfect place for a week night dinner or a celebration.
google avatar

Yelp
Hutch's was quite the experience staff were friendly and helpful on what deciding to choose for an entree. I have 0 complaints about the food and I would actually come back to revisit. Beware a bit steep on the money side but very enjoyable.

Yelp
My husband and I have this tradition where on birthdays and our anniversary we go to a new restaurant. We were recommended Hutch's by friends and family and decided to make a reservation. We went for my birthday and we're greeted by Tom the Host (he's actually a good friend of mine). We were waited on quickly, read the specials, and were given some food recommendation's since it was our first time. We got bread IT WAS AMAZING! I had a martini also amazing my husband had a German beer and he loved that. Our appetizers I had the beet salad and it was my first time having beets and it was delicious. I loved the cheese and nuts and the arugula was so fresh. My husband had the lobster and shrimp bisque and he said it the best he's ever had. Dinner I had the salmon and my husband had the steak honestly both were so so good we definitely want to go back again! Dessert I had the carrot cake and the host was so kind to buy that for my birthday gift and bc he wanted to make sure we were taken care of. THANK YOU TOM!! You rock!! The carrot cake was the best I've ever had honestly so delicious and decadent! We truly can't wait to go back again!

Yelp
Came here for a group dinner and had a wonderful experience. This is a place to go to celebrate a special occasion, or to impress a date. Our group split a few appetizers with the table including calamari, stuffed poblano and stuffed jalapeños - all great. The bread basket had a variety of bread and came with a spicy oil. Awesome wine menu, including a few New York State wines. For my first course I had the lobster bisque which was delicious, followed by the Nova Scotia Halibut which came with 2 scallops and veggies. For dessert, I had their cookie/toffee bowl dessert which was out of this world amazing. I'd love to come back here again sometime.
google avatar

Yelp
Outstanding restaurant in Buffalo for special occasions. We started with Thai calamari which was delicious. I had Filet Au Poivre, medium rare cooked to perfection and my wife had none in tenderloin. Everything was excellent. Must dine restaurant in Buffalo.

Yelp
I can't believe this was my first time here! It is now one of my top restaurants in Buffalo. If you are celebrating anything and want to have a nice dinner- you should go here! The service, food and ambience were great!

Yelp
Haven't been there since before the pandemic and the remodel. I've been going there for over 30 years. It fell far below expectations and memories past. Took my son for his birthday. Had calamari appetizer that I've had dozens of times and it wasn't like I remembered, with the corn salsa on top. And the bottom of each piece of calamari was actually cold. Ordered the barbecue spare rib appetizer. The sauce was slapped on the end. The ribs were not fresh at all. It was warm. I ordered. I believe the black grouper in a Malaysian curry with scallops. My fish was completely raw. I couldn't even cut it with a fork or a knife. Server was phenomenal. She took it right away. The maître'd came over, apologized and asked what we could do to make it better, and they made me another one which was very good. My son had steak frites. It was OK but not worth $72 or whatever I paid. I would expect a cut of meat in a restaurant to be at least an inch and a half thick, to retain some flavor. Ordered desserts because it was his birthday. I had a sorbet which was fine. My son had a Chocolate something which he thought was good. They took $10 off each dessert to make up for the bad appetizers and raw entrée. I'm heartbroken because I used to love this place. We were there on a Wednesday night and the place was packed. I want to go back to see if that was an aberration. But I may never go back. It's changed so much and for the prices they charge every dish should be perfect. They had four hosts. Somebody should look at each plate before it leaves the kitchen because three out of four dishes should not have been put on the table. It was a $250 bill with one beer. Service and atmosphere was great, but we used to go there just for the food, and I was very disappointed.

Howard F.

Yelp
Best meal all four of us have had in months. Lamb, sole, ribs and eggplant dishes were each delicious. Drinks were excellent. Appetizers were varied and superior. All three desserts were great. Service was attentive and responsive. Could not have been a better evening. Perhaps a little too loud at times but generally it did not interfere with conversation. Parking in front and back sufficient.

Yelp
Such a great restaurant! From the service to the food, it was a great experience. For starters we had the Shashito peppers and prime grind meatballs. The Shashito peppers could have been seared a bit more but were still good. The meatballs were absolutely delicious; very moist and the sauce was very flavorful. I noticed they had mezcal on their cocktail menu so I ordered a Spicy Mezcal margarita and it was AMAZING. I noticed during my trip that not many bars in Buffalo carry Mezcal so I was over the top excited for my drink and they delivered. For the entree we split the NY Strip. They brought it out on two separate plates already which was great and speaks to the attentiveness of our server because we mentioned we were going to share but didn't ask for it to be split. (Kudos!) For dessert we got the peanut butter chocolate cake and it was good. The cake portion was a bit dry but still, a good choice. Overall, loved the experience and will def. be back!

Yelp
Very busy local favorite. Has normal restaurant seating areas as well as two bar areas at which you can also eat. Service was very good on an extremely busy Saturday evening. Food was excellent!

Yelp
So disappointed. I grew up in Buffalo and have loved Hutches for 30 years. I have lived away in NYC for a long time, but recently took my nieces and nephews there (all in their late 20s). They've been wanting to go, but now it's too expensive for them, so I was excited to take them! we spent more than $700 on dinner--and it was an awful customer experience. I was so surprised. one of our steaks came out the wrong temperature (server confirmed it was very overcooked); replacement came but was wrong steak. so by the time we got the right steak, we were all basically finished with dinner. the food was great, and the restaurant vibe is nice. but the flow of our dinner was completely ruined--AND our server, while professional, clearly did not care at all; too much time passed until anyone came over and apologized... our server kept saying "we took the steak off your bill" --but to me, that's a given? why are you taking credit for that--you kind of ruined what was a big night out for us (we don't have this kind of money to spend on dinner). our wine person/somm , Chris, and busboy (Wolf!) were awesome. very nice. but the server and I guess the manager? (he came by for 2 mins but really did nothing and was clearly in a rush to other more important tables--he made us feel like a nuisance.) we went out of our way to be polite and so appreciative. as a woman who's grown up in Buffalo, I felt slighted and disrespected. if this were a table of 4 old white men with grey hair, they would have been falling all over themselves to make it up to us. these are first world problems so we all felt bad complaining...but c'mon! we all made the best of it and had a nice time and tipped 20% (which really bothered me) despite the awful customer service. but I'll never go back--and never recommend this place to anyone I work with. do not go here--there are so many other great places in Buffalo. I hate to give this review, but I felt really bad about the night after spending all that money.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this restaurant. It was busy which is usually a good sign. The drinks were excellent. The food was great. Definitely a great place for date night or special occasions as it has a very nice vibe.

Yelp
One of the best meals I had in a while. A close friend gave us a gift card and we made a great date night from the gift. I had the veal chop , and it was a hearty portion. The flavor and preparation was amazing! My partner had a steak and it was cooked to perfect. The service was top tier and my espresso martini made my heart smile. Can't wait to return again soon!

Yelp
Copying this from my google review: Girlfriend made a reservation for me here for my birthday. We got a notification our phones to remind us of the reservation 30 minutes before the time, we arrived 10 minutes early, and was told by the hostess that she forgot she had another (us) reservation, and gave our table away to someone who showed up early. We were told we will be seated in 20 minutes if we want a table, then asked if we wanted to sit near the bar. We answered her yes, but her eyes went right back to her screen. This was our first experience here, and the bar was nowhere in sight. So we stood at the entrance awkwardly for a minute or two before we asked her if she could direct us to the bar, which was in another room. Bar area was crowded, with no seating available. So we stood next to it between the restrooms, and waitress station. Almost 30 minutes later we were seated in the same room directly in front of the bar. Food, and drinks were brought out in a timely manner, but nothing really wowed us other than the crème brulee. Steak was cooked perfectly, but lacked flavor compared to other restaurants at this price point. Our server was very nice, and attentive. We didn't feel rushed at all. Really wanted to like this place, but overall experience was mediocre especially for the price point. Will not be back.

Yelp
Took my girlfriend out for her birthday. She picked Hutch's as her meal. Hello wallet. We made reservations and were seated right away. Our waiter came over, started conversation, took our drinks and apps. The night from here was up and down. We get our first app and drinks we ordered, steak tartare. Delicious, the nibbles on the sides brought out that rich flavor. Delicious. We also ordered the plate of bacon. It never came. A person came over to change our silverware, we said we have another app coming thinking it was separate. Finally we call over the waiter and someone messed up. We get the bacon, amazing. Maybe top bite of 2023. Get it. They bring our mains out then before we're done with the bacon. Whatever. Change everything get it over with. Steak Frites, delicious. Short Rib, delicious. Great food. Waiter comes back, we order round 2 of drinks. Tables get seated around us. They get all their drinks, we wait 30 minutes. Not cool. Finally our waiter comes back, and gets our dessert. Grand Mariner Cheesecake, amazing. Our food, so good, old school steakhouse delicious. The service, sub par. Our waiter had like 8 tables, and was struggling with an on call bus boy. Average service at best sadly sucks when I get a +200+ bill. I've tipped 25-30% at places like this when it matters. I struggled giving ours 18%. The food is great, just make the meal special.

Yelp
Always go with close friends for dinner to celebrate a birthday. Food is outstanding, delicious, and beautiful. Last evening we enjoyed the following menu items, Portuguese Fish Stew, Beef Wellington, Sword Fish and Scallops. All entries were wonderful. Wait staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Beautiful dinning rooms, and welcoming bars. The appetizers included oysters and calamari. Fresh, tender and delightful. And then desserts and a little Port for sipping, or a double expresso! Wow! What a finish. Yes it's pricey, but I know I'll always have a great meal, no surprises.

Yelp
My mom has the best taste in restaurants to celebrate her birthday at! I had never been here before and was curious based on all the rave reviews. I will say they are definitely well-deserved! Our server was very attentive and everyone who helped us was really great. Definitely top-notch there! We didn't start with any appetizers but the bread service was great. There were three different types and the ones I tried were great. My brother and mom each got a salad which they both loved. I opted for the yellow fin tuna special for my dinner, totally out of left field for me. I am so happy I chose it! The tuna was so tender and dipped in the soy sauce, it was so flavorful. It came with sides of roasted potatoes and green beans and they were both great too. I stole a bite of my boyfriend's dinner (Cajun pasta) and my dad's dessert (the almond lace cookie cup) and both of those were fantastic too. If you're looking for an upscale restaurant with fabulous service and a consistently delicious menu, I'd say go to Hutch's!

Yelp
The appetizer selection was nigh and I believe the best thing about the evening besides the incredible lack luster service, was the cocktails, it doesn't seem like any of the "chefs" in Buffalo do not know how to cook the ONE OBLIGATORY STEAK that they have on the menu. On top of it, I couldn't see anything in front of me, It was extremely dark and very crowded. All I have to say is location, location, location. Definitely won't be coming back on my dime.

Yelp
Had an amazing birthday dinner for Dad (with a total group of 8). Service was the best- patient, accommodating and spot on with answering questions. Have loved this restaurant for years and this was my first visit since it expanded. Still love the coziness of of the original bar but the new space is so cool. Food is always top quality and portions very generous. We definitely over- ordered and enjoyed leftovers.

Yelp
Went to celebrate a birthday! Started with the oysters, they were fresh, sweet and delicious. I had the grilled romaine wedge salad, crisp and very tasty. The sesame encrusted tuna is something everyone must experience. You will crave it! A friend had the bison steak, tender and perfectly seasoned, delicious! And save room for the cookie cup for dessert, almond lace cookie filled with cream and fresh fruit, amazing.

Yelp
Another wonderful night at Hutch's - the service and the dessert are the best in the city. We always get a few salads to start; the swordfish; and gelato to finish. Would highly recommend the eggplant napoleon - perfect mix of battered eggplant, sweet balsamic, and salty tomatoes.

Yelp
Food is absolutely phenomenal! Everything is cooked as ordered. Cocktails are primo! The Staff know the specials along with the whole menu and can recommend and dish be customized. The cocktails and wine bar, not a thing missing here. The ambiance is intimate, romantic and private, MUST DO
