Run. Don’t walk away. If sent by insurance, decline. Terrible customer service. Poor industry knowledge. Unprofessional staff.
Tl;dr Poor Customer service and scheduling. Technician was unprofessional and inexperienced. Company failed to identify actual problem with AC after 4 visits (and 4 false repairs) and quit the job without explanation or follow up because unrelated service car was present at home.
AC went out in late July during heat wave on Sunday. Took company two days to show up for initial appointment on Tuesday. All they did was refill Freon, which depleted within four hours. Tech couldn’t come back for three days, Friday. Meanwhile house was unlivable. Had to decamp for hotel.
On Friday, tech does a “leak” test and “finds” a leak in the internal evaporative coil. Company fails to submit report before COB, so part can’t be ordered until following Monday (as opposed to weekend pickup/install). During weekend fridge compressor dies because it’s too hot inside house (95+). Other electronics start to fry as well. We are still in hotel.
Monday, Company failed to submit report over weekend, so process further delayed. Couldn’t purchase/pickup/install until Tuesday (now a week later). Tuesday set for evap coil install. We also fight with company who reluctantly agrees to preemptively schedule a “follow up” for Wednesday to be safe given their schedule problems.
Tuesday, Tech arrives mid-morning to do install. Goes off without issue. Freon depletes within 5 hours. Temp never drops below 88. Thankfully we have Wednesday appointment. Still at hotel.
Meanwhile, we had separately scheduled repair techs for fridge and AC duct to cover all bases. Both scheduled for Weds AM.
Weds AM. Unrelated tech shows up at 6am. Starts work ASAP. Finds no issues with ducts and speculates issue is probably hole in line between external unit and internal compressor.
Around 9am AC tech shows up. Doesn’t get out of Van. Sees other tech. Swears at family. Quits job. Never hear from HVAC Heros AZ again. No explanation. No apology. No rescheduled nothing.
We freak out. Broken AC. Unlivable house. No tech. Thankfully because this company threw a tantrum and quit the job, HOI released us to use any company to finish repair. Surprise surprise, duct company decided to stay on sight and did a pressure test right there. Identifies hole in connector line (which was likely the problem all along). Schedules fix next day (Thursday).
Thursday, second company, duct company, shows up at 5:30am and gets to work. Done by 9:30am. All systems go. No issues. Livable home.
HVAC Heros is a terrible company. They don’t care about customers. Don’t have available techs. The techs are focused on making money, not fixing problems. And the company doesn’t care how much collateral damage they cause. We spent 1.5 weeks in a hotel. Fridge broke. Other property loss, because they didn’t run a simple leak/pressure test at initial or second appointment. Instead they ran up the bill and recommended incorrect part repair/replacement. Sergio the Tech was rude, disrespectful( and unprofessional. Rob the owner scheduler was indifferent and unhelpful.
