How to Spend a 24-Hour Staycation in Cambridge, Maryland | Eater DC

"I considered purchasing a day pool pass at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina to wade in the outdoor infinity pool and soak up views of the Choptank River; the hotel also has a hot tub and indoor pool, a blue heron nesting rookery, a spa, a golf course, two pools total, first-class rooms facing the river, and even its own wildlife refuge." - Claudia Rosenbaum

This resort is gorgeous—the views, the pools (especially the adults-only pool & hot tub), and the suites are all fantastic. Staff are warm and professional across the board, from housekeeping to the cabana team. They have a variety of activities in the indoor pool to keep the children entertained. (I know this sounds picky but burgers , pizza, and chicken fingers are what I usually consider safe bets when ordering at a hotel.)||||We expected some staffing issues since we went the week before school started, but the problem was clear right from check-in—we had to wait an hour for our room to be ready. They did compensate us for the delay, and we passed the time at the bar, but it could have been an issue if we had needed to be somewhere else.||||The downside is food and dining service. Michener’s Library Bar was the highlight—great bartenders, smooth service, and my shrimp salad was excellent.||||Cabana service was hit-or-miss. The cabana itself was great and well-stocked. One day it took 30+ minutes to get a server, which was frustrating. Pizza was good, my husband liked his hot dog, but the chicken fingers were way too over-breaded.||||Blue Point Provision Company was the most disappointing. We arrived about 8–10 minutes past our reservation time, and even though the restaurant wasn’t busy inside, we waited 45 minutes to be seated because there weren’t enough servers. Our server, Marisol, was wonderful—friendly and attentive—and the food itself was good. The problem was the dining experience: entrees came out while we were still on appetizers, and the whole meal felt rushed and unbalanced.||The food market had hour on the website listed until 7pm but was close about 6:05. ||||Overall: Beautiful resort, amazing staff, (but shortage of staff), and great amenities—but the restaurant staffing and food service really need improvement.

We loved our stay. Pools are clean and huge with plenty of lounge seating. Towels were readily available. Outdoor bar with frozen drinks + wait staff walking around to those lounging by the pool. We had two kids with us (7 and 10). They LOVED the water slide, mini golf, and game room. Rooms were clean and had an amazing water view. Most importantly to me were all the gluten free options at the restaurants for all the meals.

My husband and I were anxiously awaiting our weekend at the Hyatt in Cambridge. Sadly, we were very disappointed. We had a lovely room on the lower level overlooking the grounds where they hold weddings. The entire field was covered in litter. Not a very nice view. We decided to make the best of it and got room service, which was delicious. Although the meal was good, it was very pricey and was delivered to the room in cardboard containers with plastic utensils. A breakfast for two with coffee one omelette and one fruit bowl was $70 and I had to eat it with a plastic fork. Not what I was expecting for over $500 a night. I can say with confidence that we will not be returning.

Google
Cost not worth it: mediocre rooms. We were missing a fitted sheet, empty glass and wrappers left on balcony, floss left in bedside stand. One bar was operating when we were there in July. Do not leave belongings by lounge chairs at pools. Gone for 20-30 minutes, everything of ours was cleaned up. Upon retrieval from a lifeguard $150 cash was gone. Made report to hotel security, nothing discovered from their “investigation.” At check out spoke to manager, discount on the room worth the amount stolen was given but was hoping for a higher level of customer service especially considering the level of hotel. The event impacted our ability to enjoy ourselves the rest of the time. Won’t be going back.

Resort is a wonderful family getaway option. Beautiful setting and the amenities are great to keep kiddos of all ages busy. Property and rooms are very clean and well manicured. Some features of our room seemed to be worn and in need of repair. Food options were pricey but overall decent. I would not recommend the breakfast buffet that came with our room. Service was very slow just to get coffee and juices. Then had to ask for cream for my coffee twice before it was brought. The restaurant was not super busy. Some warm buffet options were over heated, hard and tasteless. They were completely out of bagels and waited 20 minutes for them to bring more out. Appeared to be somewhat understaffed. Overall a very nice stay at the hotel and will return.

We had an incredible stay! We were here for a wedding and got to enjoy all of the amenities that were offered. The pools, the bars, the restaurants, the coffee shop…. I mean truly you do not have to leave the property everything you want for relaxing is right there. We loved our stay and loved relaxing by the pool everyday!

Labor Day weekend...we loved every minute! We had perfect weather and overall the kids (15, 14, 13, 12, 9) were so happy and content. We barely saw the older 4 kids - they were having too much fun in the arcade, mini golf, etc. We will definitely be back! Also, it was not overly crowded considering it was a holiday weekend and we had PERFECT weather.

Nice resort with great amenities, but we were very disappointed that the waterslide was broken for the duration of our stay. I asked when it would be open and the front office responded: "Our engineering team is currently working on the slide, but they do not have a time frame of when they will be completed. They are working as fast as they can to ensure we get it up and running for our guests!" I understand that things happen and break, but I never saw anyone working on or even near the slide and we checked very often since my daughter was very anxious to go on it. We booked this resort especially for the waterslide (even cancelled a reservation at Boar's Head Charlottesville after finding out you have to be 4' to go on that slide).

Yelp
Stayed here for three nights during a work conference. The hotel itself is well-appointed -- not overly modern, but not dated either. The location is lovely, with outdoor, water-facing spaces that are definitely a highlight. The lobby bar feels a bit cramped, and the layout is somewhat awkward. I didn't have the best experience with the front desk, as interactions came across as brusque and not very welcoming. Conference banquet food was average at best and seemed a little recycled. Overall, it served its purpose for the trip, but I'd likely try another option next time.

Yelp
I wouldn't suggest staying here. On my last stay i observed such a toxic work environment that it carried over onto the guests. Free parking isn't everything. I attended a banquet and the food was phenomenal! Chef Nick came out and personally met with us at our request. The food he prepared was chef's kiss and this establishments ONLY saving grace. Top Tier Management: Start giving a care about your employees well being more and less about your dollar. Being toxic is so cringe.

Yelp
This hotel has first-class service and a great environment. I hope to come here often in the future.

Yelp
I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort for two nights last week for a work retreat. Obviously, my experience could be different than others' who stayed at the resort for fun or vacation, but over three days and two nights, I was able to explore a bit and experience the resort. First of all, my room was very beautiful - comfortable, large, with a view of the bay. The room also had everything I needed: comfy bed, large bathroom, coffeemaker... The service at the resort was excellent throughout - from the front desk at check in to the service at the bar to the staff who assisted with our work retreat activities and meals. I'll be honest - I'm not a resort person. I love coming back from a vacation more tired than when I left - after action-packed days of exploring a place I've never been before. So I'm not the resort's target traveler. I'm just not a relaxing vacay, lounge in a pool all day with a drink and a chair in the sun kind of girl. But I can see this place's appeal if that is your thing! The pool faces the bay, so it has an incredible view. You can golf, swim, and spa here. I saw groups of adult friends, plenty of groups in or near retirement age, and families with children. If you're looking for a resort with activities (you can also rent paddle boards and kayaks and there are plenty of other activities, too), this might be the perfect spot. It certainly was beautiful. My only qualm with the resort was the food and service at the restaurants at the resort. Maybe because it was newly off-season, but one restaurant we ate at seemed empty and yet we were crammed into a small private dining room (tree people at the end of the table). The food that night was good. The next night we ate at another restaurant on the property, where we were very comfortable but where the food wasn't nearly as good. Overall, the resort has a lot to offer to folks who like a relaxing resort vacation. That's just not me and, while I can't see myself returning (this stay didn't change me fundamentally into a resort person), I did enjoy my stay.

Yelp
Loved this hotel! It was like being away somewhere far without the air travel...the only thing missing is palm trees lol. We had a nice balcony room with a king bed and a sleeper sofa. There was a huge TV which my husband was very happy about. The room and hotel was very clean. They have 2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool. The one outdoor pool was an infinity pool overlooking the river and the other pool had a slide. The indoor pool was cool because they open up the doors to make it open air when weather was good and at night they showed a dive-in movie. There were also other things to do on premises like a huge chess game, yard games, and mini-golf. They also have regular golf as well but the course was under repair. There were a few restaurants on site. We enjoyed the s'mores every night too! The only problem we encountered was wasps on our balcony. The hotel response was quick to eradicate them. This is a hidden gem and we will be back.

Yelp
I have absolutely nothing to complain about the Hyatt in Cambridge, Maryland. This is one of the most posh hotels that I have stayed at in Maryland and I just love it. Why? First, the rooms are beautiful. I had a view of the resort and a king bed which I would have been okay dying in because it was so comfie-- pillows too. I loved the little balcony which I could open to check out the scenery of the resort that sits on the Choptank River. There are many little places to eat here and the food and beer is great! I really recommend the Off the Rook beer by Rar Brewery. This beer is brewed just for the resort and it is delightful and citrusy. Bring your walking shoes because there are lovely trails to walk and secret hideouts to explore on this huge property on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Unfortunately, this is the final year our conference will meet here and I have some sadness about this but I will get over it.

Yelp
Dates of visit: July 22-25, 2024 Needed a little R&R for a few days on our way back home. This resort is tucked away in little Cambridge, MD. What a wonderful place! We truly felt like we were on vacation somewhere tropical (minus the palm trees). The room and resort were very clean. Plenty of lounge chairs and beach towels by the pool and overlooking the Rappahannock River. We loved walking down the pier to the large gazebo and swimming in the infinity pool. There are lots of restaurants on site, however they are quite pricey, so we found ourselves off site to eat. We love to eat where the locals eat anyway. I'm glad we did not base our stay on the check in process. The girl that checked us in barely said two words to us, then handed us two bracelets, told us our room number and that was it! We had no idea the bracelets were our key to the room (we asked someone in the hallway when we realized we didn't have "a key"). Also, when we procured a cart for our luggage we were overtaken by a young man saying he HAD to stay with the the cart and he would get our luggage. We don't like that. We needed time to go thru our car and take what was necessary (not all was coming in) while he stood there and watched us. It was awkward and not necessary. I pointed out to him, many in the hotel that were doing this on their own with the cart. They also charge a $75 convenience fee per day (refunded if not used or needed). This was not told to us at the desk, either (I read it on my receipt). So check in can be improved but the resort is wonderful.

Yelp
Came here for a work conference and it was truly one of the best experiences I had at a work event. There was so much to do here, especially for families. They had tons of options for food, games and activities. I'd love to come back here on vacation and enjoy more of their amenities.

Yelp
Beautiful grounds. Picturesque views. Perfect staycation style getaway. I made use of the spa on the premises and my husband and I had a lovely time in the indoor pool. This hotel has been around for quite some time. They have maintained the facilities well. My only concern is better insect control. The flies coming in from the patio doors to the dining area were a nuisance.

Yelp
I have been to this hotel twice. Last year and this year-both around the same time. Last year it was great. It was relaxing and enjoyable. Just what we needed. So this year decided to go again, this time with my family as I just went with my sister last year. This year was not the same. It was disappointing. The beds are nice. The rooms are nice. The view of the water is nice. Even though it was cloudy/foggy/rainy one day, it was still nice. But that's it. Last year we had rooms higher up and this year we had a room on the first floor as we had a dog with us. There was so much noise that could be heard in our room. Not just loud from the bar, people singing, but the kids running around, playing games, RUNNING AROUND. We get woken up around 8:30/9am on Saturday for cleaning and we tell the cleaning lady we just woke up, it's not a good time. She asks if we don't need her and we say we do because we're going to need clean towels, etc. She then goes "No English." Which fine. So we tell her in Spanish we just woke up, can you please come back later as we will need a few things. She confirms to come back later-middle of the day-and then she NEVER COMES. It's not some broken Spanish we were using either. My sister is the one who spoke to her and she uses her Spanish at work frequently. The food... last year we had the food and it was good. We had both the breakfast buffet and ordered off the menu and it was good. I know buffet food isn't always the best but this was pretty good. Some wasn't what I liked but there was plenty that was good. This year, totally different story. Food was not that good. It was cold, tasted old like it sat out for a while, and was just not that good or worth the price. Example, the "shrimp Alfredo" they had was plain noodles and shrimp with the tail still on it. No sauce unless it was so dried up it disappeared. And who eats any kind of shrimp pasta with the tail still on? That's not something I want to do when I'm eating pasta-worry about a shrimp tail. Then the part that makes me wonder if this is actually a nice resort or not. The amount of people walking around in pajamas and/or no shoes was shocking. I almost thought I was in Walmart. I understand wanting to get away and be comfy (that was the whole point of my trip) but you are still in public when you're running around. The highlight of the afternoon was on Saturday when we were sitting on a couch by the fireplace and a family comes and sits right on the fireplace-clearly just from the pool-and the mother then proceeds to change her clothes by the fireplace. Instead of any of the at least three bathrooms they pass getting to where we were. And why didn't they go to their room? Because they didn't have one. They went into the pool with someone who was staying at the hotel. So yeah, it was nice last year. There weren't as many people as it was this year, sure. But this experience was certainly not worth the price. If it was going to be like that, I would have gone somewhere else. Somewhere cheaper. I could have stayed in a hotel where I expected all of that for much longer.

Yelp
We came here for a 2-day work incentive trip. Check-in was easy but our room was ready so we had to wait a while and still, we gave in to 2 queen beds room instead of 1 king bed room. Our room faced the bay/outdoor event space. It was loud the second night when they had an event that started at 5 p.m. The rooms were clean and spacious. No special perks or personalities in the rooms. The spa was very calming. The massage/treatment rooms were great. They have a steam room, and dry sauna room, and a quiet room. Food was disappointing at the evening/dinner. Parking available on site but not near front entrance.

Samantha L.

Yelp
We bought the day pass and had a great time. We utilized the 3 pools. Grounds were clean and attractive. It is a resort and was a great choice for a day trip. There were plenty of lounge chairs. They have a restaurant on the grounds where we enjoyed lunch. My only critique was that the trash can by the pool bar smelled pretty bad . Enough for me to be conscious of it and hold my breath when I walked past. With that said, good chance it was a fluke. We plan on going back next summer.

Yelp
My 9 year old and I had the pleasure of staying at the resort during Mother's Day weekend. I was pleasantly surprised at how kid friendly the resort is! They had many activities for kids for the holiday in addition to a fun movie night at the pool and s'mores kits to roast by the fire. Our room was very clean, comfortable and easy to get to. We enjoyed eating at the on-site restaurants and getting ice cream at the convenience store. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because they do not offer valet parking and the self parking is quite far from the lobby.

Yelp
My wife and I booked an off season night from Travel Zoo. First time to the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MD. What a great place ! Beautiful resort right on the Choptank River. Spectacular views !! The resort itself offers tons to do. Indoor/outdoor pools, hot tubs, fitness center, restaurants and bars. The rooms were comfortable and ours had a view of the river. The service was also great. We're booking another stay in April.

Marilyn W.

Yelp
This is a beautiful resort and very family friendly. However , I was told at check-in that breakfast came with our room. Unfortunately, I was then charged $127.00 for our breakfast which we would not have purchased there if we knew we were going to be charged. There was an additional charge of $47.00 that has not been explained. i have now contacted them twice with only an email stating they received my query. They have done nothing to reverse the charges which I find very disappointing. I thought we might want to return for another visit as we have always like the Hyatt, but this extra charge and slow or no resolution is very discouraging. I cannot rate or recommend this hotel at the tim.

Yelp
We stayed here for a retreat and it is a beautiful resort. The activities and amenities are great - for everyone from parents to the babies. The catered meals were all delicious. The staff throughout were amazing, helpful, and friendly. We attended a cocktail class offered on the last night and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The only hang up would be the limited spa hours. We visited during the holidays so the weather was a little too cold to enjoy the outdoors. We will definitely come back during warmer weather.

Yelp
AC was broken in our room, while outside temperature at night was in the 60s our room still could not get below 72. Management, concierge and staff were extremely rude, inconsiderate, and not welcoming. Over priced for outdated rooms and amenities. One of the worst hotel experiences I've had, let alone a "resort".

Yelp
11/4/22 This review is for Michener's (inside on the ground level) Cream of crab soup was excellent-- wonderful taste with lots of crab. The Chesapeake burger was great too-- the crab dip complemented it better than expected. I thought it might be a little much, but figured when would I try something like this again. The only flaw was that it was over cooked. I don't know why they asked me how I want my burger cooked if they're just going to cook it well done anyway (I asked for medium)

Cindy K.

Yelp
Beautiful resort. Great golfing and spa. However, hotel could use some updating. Ripped curtains and dingy shower curtains should be replaced. Bathrooms could use a deep cleaning. Despite this, it is a fun place for the family.

Yelp
Stay here if you want: 1) poor customer service; 2) loud children; 3) pet friendly; 4) noisy hallways; 5) overpriced rooms for what you get; 6) overpriced food with very limited menus and inexplicable waits... I made a mistake thinking that Labor Day weekend here would meet my need for a peaceful end to the summer. And while I knew to expect children, I did not expect a mini-romper room with children running and screaming in the hallways; crying and doing what children do in restaurants; and very few (read: nothing) things that are adult-only. The room rate was over $500 and although the room was clean, simple things were missing like bottled water. Instead, you can get your bottles from the front desk - learned that from the bartender because the check-in didn't mention that nugget at all. Nor did check-in (or any documentation I read) indicate that a water bottle refill station is in the ice room (as well as access to hot water for tea). The room does have a refrigerator but no microwave. Instead, 2 microwaves are avail for use on the lobby level near the little store. My room, waterfront king, was on the 2nd floor, off the lobby. Fail! Any live entertainment in the Michelin Library is heard down the hallways. Insane. It seems that at least one wing on the 6th floor is "quiet" (think: quiet car on a train) but I was never offered or read on the booking site about such options. I honestly hate it here. Never again. And too bad I didn't read the reviews on this site prior to booking.

Yelp
I was disappointed with my recent stay at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, Maryland. While the property has potential, several issues made for an unpleasant visit. It is not located on the Chesapeake as the name implies. It overlooks the Choptank River. There were an overwhelming number of flies throughout the resort, making it hard to enjoy both the indoor and the outdoor spaces. You are swatting flies while trying to eat in the restaurant and lounge. The drinks at Michener's Library Bar were poorly made, and the bartenders were noticeably unfriendly and inattentive. Housekeeping was inconsistent--some days my room was cleaned thoroughly, other days it was overlooked entirely. Lastly, my room was advertised as having a king-size bed, but what was in my was noticeably smaller. I measured it and it was significantly smaller than a standard king- size bed. On a positive note, the outdoor recreation area was very nice and the views of the river were pretty. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet the standards I expect from the Hyatt brand.

Yelp
The view was by far the best thing about the resort besides that, I won't be spending anymore of my money here. We initially arrived with our group to a room that wasn't set up as requested so we had to do some rearranging of our own. Not that big a deal. We checked into our room, but our thermostat wasn't working. So, we couldn't adjust the temperature (didn't need to) if we needed to. I am an extremely light sleeper so noises (TV, music, talking) keep me up so when we got to our room for the evening, the room next to ours (shared door) decided they wanted to watch their tv so we could hear it too. I try to be understanding and patient but once it hit midnight, I had enough. I knocked on their door, but no one answered so, I called the front desk, and they said they'd send security up. 15 minutes later (still loud) I called again, and they said they sent them up but that they would send them up again. Eventually, I just went to my vehicle to try and sleep but that didn't last long so I eventually went back to my room and fell asleep from pure exhaustion around 2am. I woke up to the TV still on and loud as it was during the evening. When we checked out just before 11am it was still on. RIDICULOUS!!!!! I think it's crazy that for the amount of money you spend to stay here, they do not have breakfast. I mean, they do have breakfast, but you have to buy it and if it's anything like the store on the lobby floor, it's probably overpriced. I paid $3 for a 12oz can of Dr Pepper. Don't waste your money, go to Royal farm or WaWa just down the light from the resort and get your snacks there.

Johnny B.

Yelp
Very nice mini-resort on the river with a beautiful view, especially at night. Room was beyond question and so comfortable, it was impossible to leave. Service was stellar and friendly. The night hot tub was very relaxing as were the outdoor fireplaces. However, the scones tasted stale, ice cream was almost melted, buffet very overpriced for what was offered (Golden Corral is not only cheaper, but has a larger selection) and housekeeping did not change the sheets.

Yelp
We had a nice break and got to do some fun things together like game room, pool, hot tub, walking the area, family sip and paint, bingo... fun! The rooms are a nice size for family of 3-4 when booking the 2 queen beds. If you coming to a resort you want a water view so just upgrade. There was a wedding over weekend and we enjoyed seeing the set up and the celebrations. The only downside for us as we are picky and from the industry is the food. Lots of items that are ready made and easy to put out are used and likely because of size of property and number of guests but I would have expected more from a Hyatt resort. We even tried the Water Grill hoping for a better food experience and choosing a la carte option but still not good. Great stay and had fun and if we come again we will likely boost the local economy by eating out. Plus my teen broke out in rash from the bedding. Lots of chemicals and housekeeping rewashed them to try get some chemicals out so hoping she doesn't wake up with more of a rash.

Yelp
Checked in and came to room to find our deck littered with cigarette butts. Notified staff through their check in process. Asked to be contacted through text and not room phone due to having a baby who would be sleeping. Nothing came of it until 930pm that night and by, you guessed it, the room phone. On site restaurant prices where it's $12 for a plate of soggy fries. Service that was rude. Elevators that close on you while trying to exit. Gets a three only for location, which I'm sure is nicer when it's warm.

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! I didn't get a chance to stay over night but I purchased a day pass at this resort for a mommy and me day for my daughter and myself. We were able to utilize all the amenities as the overnight guests had access too. We literally spent the whole day here. We enjoyed the outdoor pool overlooking the bay and the indoor pool. The indoor pool had a hot tub as well that you can also access it by swimming under the wall from the outside. The kids loved doing that lol. During the evening they were playing movies in the indoor pool while we enjoyed swimming. We also was able to enjoy canoeing on the bay. We rented a boat and spent an hour on the bay. Which was relaxing and made bonding more special. It felt like we were the only ones out there since the bay is so big in the area we were allowed to boat. They also had motorized boats that you can rent but since it was just us two we didn't do that. For dinner, we were able to eat in the restaurant after showering and changing our clothes. The food was so good! After dinner, we played mini golf before heading home. Everything about this place we enjoyed! We had such a good time here. The staff was friendly and helpful. There's plenty of parking on the property that's free. There are no lockers here so be prepared to carry around your things. We kept our things at the chairs by the pool and they were fine the whole time. However, I left my valuables in the car.

April B.

Yelp
As soon as you come into the property there is no sign showing which way to go to the Hotel Lobby. The bridge leading in is old and needs to be replaced. The service was horrible, we had to ask and wait for seating and to be served several times. We had a conference there and didn't receive ample time to set up before guest arrived. Wait staff not trained, I had to remove my finished plate myself. Will never return. Don't waste your money, it's very expensive and totally not worth it.

Yelp
A wonderful waterfront resort for relaxation and rejuvenation. I spent a weekend there with sorority sisters and did not have an opportunity to enjoy many of the amenities like the spa and pools due to pre-planned activities. However, I think the resort is ideal for a weekend getaway. The resort is just minutes away from the Harriet Tubman Museum which is a plus for the historian in me. Also, there is a winery about 20 minutes away. My only complaint was that, even if you are told you will be able to check in early, you will still likely end up waiting quite some time for your room to be ready. Otherwise, no complaints. The hotel food is pretty good - particularly the chicken wings and fries (my kids kept ordering fries! LOL) Also, the service for my sorority's private event in the Windjammer was fine. My favorite thing about the resort was my room's view of the bay as well as the various pools (one completely adult pool). My daughter liked the idea of roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. The beds were super comfy and our room was quiet, so I got some much needed rest. A friend was able to walk out on the pier and get in some good writing time in solitude in spite of the number of people at the resort. Also, many guests brought along their pets because the hotel is pet-friendly.

Yelp
This was my first time staying at this resort. I must say it was quite relaxing. This is post covid after Maryland lifted the mask mandates. It's a truly a resort feel but it's really catered for families. I wouldn't stay here if I didn't have any kids. There are so many, including mine as well. For adults though, they do have a separate pool and a new large outdoor hot tub. We just loved the pools (indoor and kids/activities pool) are heated. I didn't go into the adult, infinity edge pool. The water slide was a hit for my little girl. The small hot tub that is part inside and outside are filled with kids. No wonder they created a new adult only hot tub. They have an indoor area to order food and drinks. Your average food options. On weekends, they have a barbq food offering, which was the best food option I've eaten at this resort. Awesome ribs and pork! Offering movies in the indoor pool area was cool. Fireplace wasn't on the two nights I was there so we couldn't do s'mores by the fireplace. The little arcade/ game room is just too small. Mini golf was included in resort fee and was fun. Their gym looked like a decent size. The Library lounge drinks were very reasonable priced but also offered the same limited food options (pizza, wings, burger, Caesar salad, garden salad, etc). We stayed in a 2 queen petite suite, which was nice, but the way the seating was arranged, you can even see the tv. Speaking of, they really need to upgrade their tv's. I've stayed at other Hyatt's, and this by far was the smallest tv's. Premium wifi was quite fast, but sometimes it drops. Beds were comfy if you like more softer mattress. The self park is a bit of a hike. They didn't offer valet attendant, but you can park in the valet parking (so much more convenient) at same $10 valet parking a day. I did this and glad I did. For rainy days, we found a cabin fever play center in Cambridge. Man, my girl loved this place. Great place to take r kids during rainy days! For dinner nearby, I highly recommend Jimmie and Sooks. The best highlight dinner of my trip. It just reopened June 11th from being on hiatus from Covid. Awesome seafood and best genuine friendly service. These are both a 5-8 minute drive from hotel. RAR brewing, Avas pizzeria are all in the same block or two. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is due to their food options in their menu is so limited and nothing to write home about (except for that barbq!). They don't even offer eggs Benedict as an entree option for breakfast at Waters Edge. Their breakfast buffet reopened ($24 per person), giving an option. Their golf course restaurant was just okay from a previous visit. If their food can be just slightly improved, I would give it 5 stars.

Yelp
Another go to place when I'm in town working on design projects . Great place to meet people, quick casual meal, the outdoor fireplace is bonus , great place ro watch the playoff NBA games , My fav to host lunch meetings, We love the server "Pushpak" he always is polite and accommodating . We love the amenities . We enjoy sunset and the ability to access the water sports and golf , when not staying at hotel . While in trappe for winter the Hyatt saved us many weekends . Only suggestion is healthier choices in the coffee shop . We had lucnch on 4th July and was shocked that the outside grille had nothing fresh , no fruits, no healthy drinks , and was promoting a hot dog contest .We travel all over the country Hyatt's or Marriott's and there are always healthy clean options . Thebulk candy is a nightmare for parents trying to feed their kids healthy food. Most of that candy is laden with banned red food dyes , corn syrup and sugar, carmine and preservatives . In California these food items would have a sign " prop 64 " foods have been linked to cancer . The summer heat and toxic food offerings was a little disheartening , in this case Hyatt cares more about cheap food cost than being a Mecca for vibrant food choices that promote health and fitness .

Yelp
Nice resort with amenities for the whole family, fun pools, a water slide, mini golf, pickle ball, etc. Unfortunately, when we stayed here our group encountered racist verbal harassment from other guests staying on the property. Rather than remove the guests, management hid behind bureaucracy and legal jumbo jumbo. They chose inaction and delay rather than take responsibility for keeping their hotel safe from racist acts. I hope they learn from this and do better in the future.

Yelp
Huge disappointment this year! We have been visiting this place every labor day for over 10 years. We always come on our boat. My father in law was told to book by staff on one site for the slip and was charged over $4 a foot. When we arrived we found out that we would also be charged a $25 per adult resort fee! We have a very large boat and had 10 people on the boat 6 were adults. After talking to other boaters about this my father in law then found out that all of the other boaters booked on a another boater site for $2 something per foot he was not happy. This was addressed and I believe resolved but this started off very negatively. On top of the fact it is already expensive to dock and fuel and now a resort fee that was not addressed at all when booking. Guys come on you charge $15 plus per drink that you cannot even use fresh ingredients. Second issue! What happened to your staff they are mostly rude and when you ask about activities that used to be way better they honestly were a joke this year they state look online. The Hyatt used to be so fun for the kids with tie dye making shirts, ice cream Sundays, and many other fun things. Now it pretty much a cannon ball contest and hot dog eating.... You all can do waaaayyyyy better. It is very unlikely we will be back next year. That is why your docks are not very full. The dock is filled with bird poop and you cannot walk barefoot or you are guaranteed a splinter.

Yelp
Would give zero stars if I could. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE. I MEAN HORRIBLE. The worst I have ever been treated. Moreover, there is no adult pool, just a roped off section in the family pool so kids and tweens are there among drinking adults. The lifeguards who are supposed to make sure the adult section remains adult, did nothing to prevent kids coming into the area. Last of all, service in the main dining room is HORRIBLE. it took almost an hour to get our supper. The only brute spot was Dawn the concierge and the bartenders at the Tiki bar. Never coming back. Horrible experience.

Yelp
Needed a getaway over the summer and found this hotel on the bay. Since it's COVID, we didn't really plan to be out and about much. But I was really surprised at how crowded the pools and lounge chairs were. It really did not feel safe. Our room had a cute little balcony, which was nice. However there were bottle caps on the balcony left over from the previous guests. It makes you think about how much cleaning and sanitizing the hotel actually does. I did like how organized the breakfast buffet was. There was plexiglass between the person at the station serving the food. And there was pretty good food. They had all your typical breakfast buffet items: omelets, sausages, waffles, fruit, etc. Besides having multiple pools, there are plenty of recreational activities: kayaking, mini golf, s'mores making. I would love to come back after the pandemic to give it another shot.

Yelp
This is an old hotel that needs some attention. Pros- pools, beautiful views, rooms are nice, large tv, , kid activities. Coffee market. Fire pits, pool tables. Cons- air quality was bad in gym, Dust on vents. Restaurant quality lacking and can't get in for breakfast. Crowded and buffet was messy. Buffet expensive not great. Bathroom at pool wasn't clean or attended to for supplies. Free Thursday happy hour was ' at capacity' at Blue Point-(( For $400 a night, the mini golf turf looks awful with tears. They need upgrades to make this place look better. Pool food- subpar.Boiled hot dog was inedible. Will consider other places in the future Portside restaurant nearby was great.

Yelp
This resort is perfect weekend get away in DMV. It's only an hour away outside of DC. The resort has a lot to offer: indoor poor and hot tubs. Even an adult one facing the Chesapeake bay. Mini golf, arcade rooms and two restaurants and bar within the hotel. It's also good to check out the events they have going on once you checked in. We went to their mixology class and it was well organized and fun!

Yelp
Our family visited the Hyatt Chesapeake resort Memorial Day weekend. We are Elite members who have stayed at a variety of Hyatt properties and have visited this particular resort at least 10 times over the past 15 years. We love the resort as a whole. There is so much to keep families busy- with three pools, hut tubs, a beach area, resort activities, etc. We stayed in the Chesapeake Suite and it was extremely roomy and clean. However, one of the things I have noticed decline over the years, is not the condition of the hotel, but rather the level of customer service. Throughout the weekend trying to get a drink at either bar was a complete nightmare. They had three people working the register at the indoor pool, yet I waited in a three person line for at least 30 minutes. The outdoor bar would have been better if the registers computer didn't break down. But the issue that really upset me was our experience at breakfast this morning. I arrived at 10:10am for my 10:15am reservation. I gave the hostess my name but she said she couldn't locate our reservation. I then pulled out my email confirmation and she suddenly said "oh ok I see your profile". She then said they would squeeze us (our party of 8) in their private room. Our waitress then asked us what we wanted to drink, but never brought us menu's. We waited sitting at the table for about 10 minutes before I finally said "can we see some menus"? That's when she said "oh we aren't doing menus for Memorial Day weekend it is buffet only. I was disappointed but ok-no big deal. I wasn't really looking to pay for/eat a buffet style breakfast but we were already settled so I went ahead and did the buffet. At the end of the meal she asked if we wanted seperate checks. I said "sure- 2 is great". She ended up bringing us one check. Again, I said "oh ok...that's fine, I will put it on our room and our friends could Venmo". I filled out the entire bill, signed it and put it back. About 5 minutes later our waitress came back and grabbed the receipt/signed bill and said "oops, not that one, this one". I looked to see that the total had gone up due to a $30 large party charge. So now in addition to not being told about the buffet only situation, I now find out about a large party charge we were never made aware of. I wouldn't have minded paying the $30, IF I was made aware of that from the beginning. Then we could have decided if that was in our budget. But instead, we were given no choice. These may seem like small things, but this just isn't the level of customer service I have typically received from Hyatt, especially not at this particular resort. I'm hopeful the resort manager will address some of these issues so others don't have the same experience this summer.

Yelp
We spent 4 days at this resort for our friends wedding and ended up extending our stay to explore the resort and marina. The Hyatt in general is gorgeous and a perfect venue. Our friend had a beautiful outdoor wedding and the photos looked stunning. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married on the water! Over all, this place was more enjoyable than expected. We stayed at the marina and were able to ride around on our scooters to get to and from. The pool was really nice especially with the tiki bar and adults only hot tub. The room and facilities were clean. The staff is friendly, efficient and professional. There's plenty to do if you don't want to leave the grounds. The To-go food was affordable and pretty decent. Definitely a nice place to go and just relax!

Yelp
Nice Resort nestled on the Chesapeake Bay. My Husband picked this place, we wanted to get away for our Wedding Anniversary for a couple of days. It has a lot of Amenities. Private Golf Course, small private Beach, water sports, indoor and outdoor pool, Restaurants, volleyball area, sitting area, spa and more. The room is nice, clean and spacious, with a nice view of the Bay. The only thing I wish they had was a microwave in the room, but other than that a nice getaway if you want to relax.

Yelp
The Hyatt in Cambridge is a prime example of paying for the name. Huge resort with overpriced rooms for an outdated hotel. We didn't get a waterfront view but I can say the landscape is well maintained and the walk along the water was tranquil. Nevertheless the overlapping events during the weekend suggest they are in a financial crisis. Republican (MAGA) event, Technology conference, Secret Service, Black Women's conference and 4 weddings all in one. Very overcrowded, unprofessional and uncoordinated. Pure chaos at its finest. Let me not forget to mention the staff running the beautifully dressed local high school kids away from taking their Prom pictures, I mean come on it's their Prom and it's the only appealing place for pictures in the entire town.. Unfortunately the prom kids and the Black Women's conference seemed to have gotten the worst treatment they both were pretty much tossed out by staff. Now I can say the groundskeepers were super polite, offering help upon arrival and very helpful with our bags and luggage offering rides on their carts and holding doors. The evert coordinators definitely could have done a better job.

Yelp
I found the staff (with the exception of the bellhops and the woman who helped us to unpack our vehicles) to be not only unpleasant, but downright disrespectful. We were celebrating our wedding and the family had gathered downstairs to celebrate. Unbeknownst to us, this hotel literally closes the lobby and forces you to go back to your room at a certain time. We were not only NOT given a warning or spoken to, but we had the police called on us. If I were reading this review on Yelp I would say there is no way this could've happened, because it is just that ABSURD, but I assure you it did. The security guard came outside to where our family was sitting and simply said "music is too loud, cops are on their way." And that our "warning" was them "turning the firepit off." They berated my mother in law and said the "policies are posted at every elevator" but when my bridesmaids went to go look there was only advertisements, no policies whatsoever. This is absolutely abhorrent for the amount of money we brought to your property. You have embarrassed us and your staff needs SERIOUS training. They should be ashamed of themselves. Not only will I NEVER stay at a Hyatt Property again, I will strongly encourage everyone I know to stay FAR away. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and coffee prior to checkout the next morning and for some reason my 12 dollar bill came out to be almost 18 dollars. Make this make sense to me? Your security guard had 7 police officers come for a "riot" and they walked in to a group of happy people celebrating and eating chicken wings, most definitely not a riot. Thank you for putting a serious damper on my wedding evening.

Yelp
I'd give it less if I could. This is supposed to be the resort hotel for Ironman so I'm trying to understand what genius thought it'd be smart to book an event on the lawn blaring loud music the night before athletes needed to get up before dawn to race. Coupled with the failure of housekeeping to fully clean the bathroom for 3 days and the outrageous rates, and I'm trying to understand how this can call itself a AAA four diamond. Very disappointing, should have VRBO'd instead.

Yelp
Newbie visit: 2-night (2 room) stay over the second wknd in June '21 ROOMS: - Suite #1 (Globalist upgrade to Petite Suite, Choptank River-facing, 5th flr) - Suite #2 (Globalist "Guest of Honor" upgrade to Petite Suite, Resort(pool)-facing, 3rd flr) - Petite suite (w Juliette balcony) is pretty dated and could definitely use a refresh - River-facing view was quite relaxing but couldn't fully enjoy it due to Juliette balcony. A regular, step-out balcony with a couple chairs would have been nice. - Linens & pillows felt really cheap and weren't comfy at all... - Small TV (appears to turn on upon entering the room which IMO is more annoying than useful) - Mini-fridge worked fine; however, door operation was pretty wonky as it opens from the L-side w very minimal fridge-to-cabinet spacing, making opening the door a lot more challenging than it needs to be. - No safe in Suite #1 (didn't bother requesting after a couple of failed attempts requesting other items via front desk) - Super old, dirty coffee machine (tried boiling water once but it came out nasty, didn't bother requesting a new one) - AC was blasting in my hall compared to other halls, making it somewhat of a dreadful experience leaving/returning to the room... GLOBALIST: - Got the crappiest standard suite upgrade when there were clearly better rooms available (according to Hyatt app cash availability) - Comp parking in (closer, valet) parking lot with in/out privileges (programmed to key card) - Comp breakfast (buffet or À la carte) each morning @water's edge grill (charged to the room, credited). Food = Mehhh. (À la carte quality is much better than the buffet, but that's still not saying much...) - Unfortunately, this HR doesn't have a Regency Lounge anymore... - No waters were included in our rooms or brought to our rooms after requesting 2x. The Petite suite, however, was equipped with a mini-fridge, so we just hit up Walmart and got our own. ACTIVITIES: - Game room (air hockey, foosball, table tennis, arcades, claw machine) - 2 pool (billiard) tables, 9-hole mini golf, 18-hole golf course, driving range, beach volleyball, disc golf, pickleball - Indoor pool, outdoor pools (Infiniti), jacuzzis, water slide, dive-in movie night (indoor pool) SUMMER (PEAK) SEASON: - 3 weddings over the wknd, +1 triathlon (limited our room upgrade potential, was really hoping for a river-facing Chesapeake suite) - Jr's Famous Jerk BBQ (on-site every wknd over the summer) hit the spot! NEARBY: - Walmart (across the street, super convenient) - Ava's Pizzeria & Wine Bar (average) - Ocean Odyssey Crab House (great) - Rise Up Coffee (very good) - Chikfila (standard) FYI: - It's more convenient/accurate to request toiletries via Hyatt app vs calling - There's a microwave outside of the Bay Country Market - If it's raining and you need coverage, hit up the Concierge to borrow an umbrella Overall, a decent (cat 4) stay -- mainly due to the amenities, not the sub-par room. Due to proximity, I would recommend this property to DMV families to check out at least once. However, do yourself a favor and try to confirm a renovated room. Ty for the experience!

Yelp
Nice mini summer vacation! We stayed 3 nights (6/30-7/3) with several family units following an anniversary celebration. It was really nice. The resort is beautiful. View from our room was great, although I wish we had a real balcony; you could open the door and walk out (about a foot), but no chairs. Beach is narrow, but cute. 3 pools are great (2 outside, 1 indoor, plus hot tubs). We loved the activities, which they had at the top of the hour, most hours. My kids participated in a hula hoop contest, tug o war, pool handstand contest and family whiffle ball. They gave out icees to participants. There are so many things to do. We swam a lot, played pool (2 tables), ping pong (2 tables), and beach volleyball (a caged court, which was great). We hit balls at driving range (fee, but very reasonable) and made s'mores on the fire (you can bring your own and WalMart is across the street). There were other activities we ran out of time for - mini golf, tennis (4 courts), console games, dive-in movies each night, and water sport rentals (~$20-30 for kayak, paddle board, paddle boat). It is pretty expensive with resort fee and taxes. Even with a deal, it was almost $300/night. Food and drink are also expensive, as you expect at a resort. We ate breakfast at Water's Edge (nice buffet), dinner at Michener's (really slow service) and food&drink from pool bar (okay). We ate out the other nights and there are lots of close options. If you live within a drive and save on airfare, this is still a cost effective resort vacation. I would definitely go back!

Yelp
We had the BEST time at this resort. The rooms were impeccably clean, service was great, and everyone loved the amenities. The Pool is Lava was my favorite drink... maybe ever.

Yelp
Impromptu get away landed us here to this sprawling property on the Choptank River. The resort offers Golf, Marina, Conference Rooms & a Spa/Salon with breathtaking waterfront views of the Chesapeake Bay. NOTE: Children & young teens (pet friendly too) are in full effect on this property. We stayed in the Petite Suite replicating a small studio apartment. & for someone who does not take midday naps, thanks to the plush & comfy King sized mattress, I took two. When we weren't lounging in the sitting area, we sat out on the balcony overlooking the pool & partial views of the golf course. Amenities included a single serve Coffee Maker, see through mini Refrigerator, 37" Flat Screen TV, KenetMD bathing products, ceiling fan resembling a boat paddle(perhaps), terry cloth robes & complimentary Aquafina Bottled Water. The River Marsh Marina is certified as a clean marina with 150 Slips & for Boaters who dock overnight has access to the resort. There are many onsite restaurants to try out: *Blue Point Provision Company - Seasonal Operation. *Water's Edge Grill - Full service (Buffet options) with fireplaces & balconies, menu reflecting American fare with a view of the crescent pool. *Bay Country Market - Snacks, Starbucks Coffee, Ice Cream, Candy & Souvenirs. *Dock's Poolside - Light Lunch fare, snacks & beverages servicing all three pools - The Off the Rook Bar provides chairside service. *Eagle's Nest Bar & Grille - Bar food by the River Marsh Golf Club. *Michener's Library - (Visited twice) Named after the Author of "Chesapeake", is the resort's lobby lounge with glass walls & fireplaces. You can see the 18th green of the River Marsh Golf Course & panoramic views of the water. The two-story lounge is spacious with teak benches & water fountains. For a quieter place there are cozy nooks named after Cambridge's heritage like Harriet Tubman & King Ababaco with even more fireplaces. One can also play billiards on the dual pool tables. Opens weekly in the afternoon closing at 2A on Fridays/Saturdays & Midnight on Sunday. Other Activities includes a high occupied indoor pool with a movie projector showing family-oriented movies, a Volleyball Court, Miniature Golf, Captain's Parlor Arcade Game Room, Walking Trails & an On-Site Shuttle Service. Every staff member we encountered was effortlessly engaging & helpful. Room Service was quick on their feet from taking our orders, delivering & correcting an issue without hesitation or additional charges. Tanita, our Housekeeping Agent took exceptionally great care of us during our stay. Her attention for cleaning the bathroom, changing of the bedding down to mopping was well appreciated. Plus, her engagement was pretty cool as we chatted for a few before heading out. Upon check out, we needed our portfolio adjusted due to an accidental on-demand order & Kristin accommodated us without question. Absolutely a wonderful in-state getaway on the Chesapeake Bay.

Yelp
We used to come here occasionally for getaways. This is the first time we've been back in several years. I would say that this place has lost one or two stars over the years. The main loss has been in the quality of service, both in the restaurants (of which there's really only one and a half, unusual for a high-end resort) and store. Perhaps because we were here on a holiday weekend, spills were not cleaned up in hallways, some of the chairs and tables in common areas were dirty and the serving staff were pleasant but most were remarkably inattentive and seemed untrained - not commensurate with a high-end resort. That's not to say there aren't occasional staff members who are. A beautiful place, the highlight of which is the waterview, golf course, and the large indoor pool atrium. However, unlike many high-end resorts, no real quiet places to relax indoors. . The few nooks that they have are in very public areas , at the edge of uncarpeted hallways, or right around the corner from open space restaurants and bars; so can be very noisy. Also, this resort caters to families, and that means many many young noisy children , or parents calling out to their young children. Blackwater Nature Preserve is about 20 minutes away which had nice hiking and walking. There are some paths for walking the resort grounds, which are right on the water and lovely, but the paths are very limited. The town is not exactly a "destination" spot and the pandemic has not been kind to it. So, a nice place that has lost its former burnish. Good for 3 nights at the most.
