Having lucked out with tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras tour, I decided to treat myself to a stay-cation and try out the Hyatt Regency on Howell. I've stayed at their neighboring location, Grand Hyatt, but have heard great things from co-workers about Hyatt Regency. I could be wrong, but I believe it's also one of their newer (or remodeled) locations.
Wow, even with a short weekend stay the hotel was fantastic. Adam, one of the front desk agents who helped check me in, was very informative but quick with getting my checked in (I was the only one in line but the 5 agents at the desk already had guests, Adam had been standing nearby and walked me over to a desk to check me in himself).
The hotel offers texting for short/quick questions you may have during your stay. I found the staff to be quick to reply (during business hours within 5-15 minutes and responding to an after hours text first thing the next day).
In room dining is available but a limited menu, but the fees are reasonable in my opinion. Delivery is $5 with extra gratuity up to the customer, but no additional % for delivery that you might find at other hotels or tourist hubs (here's looking at you, Vegas). You can always save yourself the $5 and go to the 2nd floor to pick up the order from their Market area. In room dining has limited options to edit any orders as most of the food is pre-made to ensure a timely delivery/availability. I ordered the roast chicken and dumpling soup, which was really hearty but packed with chicken and gnocchi. I will caution, the broth itself is really salty so wouldn't recommend finishing that. The chocolate opera cake was decadent, beautiful, and tasty.
The A/C in the room was fantastic, and the shower pressure is top notch. Can't find the hair dryer or extra roll of toilet paper? The hair dryer is kept in a faux leather box under the sink, and the extra roll is in a black cloth bag (also under the sink). Be careful though, the water glasses in the bathroom are actual glass.
Have status with Hyatt? Check your perks! With Explorist, I was able to get waters for free and refilled (staff confirmed no extra cost). Very helpful with how humid Lumen Field was.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to check out the gym, but I'm already planning to book for Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC) next year!
Tips:
-Download and use the app! Hotel offers a digital key, and you can also check in and check out there
-Did you snag physical keys but still want to digitally check out? You can! There's a key drop box in the lobby on the desk closest to the doors
-Drop off / pick up area in front of the hotel can be a bit chaotic, be ready to hop out or hop in quickly
-Need to park? Call in advance to confirm if this is available, especially with any big concerts/conventions/etc as it may not be guaranteed (even if you have status)
-Hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to Pike Place, 5mins from the convention center, and 10min walk to Pacific Place (Din Tai Fung, AMC, Regal Meridian, etc.)
-Going to Lumen or T Mobile park? Uber or Lyft would be your easiest bet, but you can always walk to one of the link rail stations (I believe Westlake is closest)
