The Best New Bars Around D.C. Right Now

"Clarendon’s Hyde Social debuted this fall with classic American food and fun cocktails like a pistachio martini, lavender gin-based Hyde and Jekyll, and a smoked butter pecan bourbon drink. With leather booths and couches, the sports bar has a more relaxed and upscale atmosphere, while still boasting plenty of televisions for football and baseball watching." - Tierney Plumb, Emily Venezky

I time was had!!!! We made a reservation and the vibe was "vibing" the moment we stepped foot in the door! So much we sat outside on the patio. The patio is large, comfortable, music throughout the spot! The drinks were cold and strong! You gotta try the Smoked Pecan old fashioned..i had a few( no judgement zone lol) The waitresses were laughing, smiling and made us feel at home! The food is good too! Everything came out quickly! The manager Dre is cool, he was very present and thats sign of great management. To sum it up...GET HERE!

Went for a birthday brunch. Staff was attentive and polite. Brunch food was delicious but my friend got a steak ordered med rare but it came out over well done so asked for another and the 2nd came out blue rare. She just got a to go box to cook it at home. Besides that it was good experience and nice atmosphere. Maybe just don’t order a steak 😅would recommend: chicken and waffles, avocado toast, and mimosas bucket.

The manager, Dre, was able to accommodate my birthday party last minute (like literally the night before) when my original plan got cancelled. He was incredibly gracious and helpful and made sure we had a great night! The staff were very attentive to my guests and everyone agreed that the food was great!! I highly recommend hosting your next event at Hyde!!

I love this place to hang out with friends! It’s also a great spot to watch football on Sundays :) They have really comfortable couches, and many tvs, so you can enjoy the game of your choosing. The staff is phenomenal! Super friendly and attentive. The menu has lots of great options for high-end bar food, such as bang bang shrimp, grilled artichokes, cheesesteak egg rolls, and delicious waffle fries! Their ranch dressing is also amazing (if you’re a ranch freak like me, I highly recommend asking for some)! It’s such a comfortable set up whether you’re trying to hang with friends, have a date night, or get some brunch on a weekend. Friday and Saturday nights pop off with a DJ, dancing, and great energy all-around. They have a fun Photo Booth set up, so you can capture the memories with your crew. Definitely a great hang spot in Clarendon/Arlington, VA!

New bar and lounge in the area, really like the cozy and intimate feel. A group of 8 friends came here on a Friday night, were able to get a reservation. There are tvs at every angle which is nice if you’re a sports fan. We came for happy hour which had great deals, i ordered a pint of beer and 8 wings for $15. I really liked the flavor of the mango habanero wings. They brought out biscuits to our table too which were also tasty. The bartender was super nice and attentive. Prices for beer and food were pretty reasonable, cocktails were a little high in my opinion. Throughout the night, we noticed the vibe change into more of a bar scene. Overall, I would come back. It’s a nice place to hang with friends and watch sports.

I got a pretzel and chicken sandwich. Both were decent, nothing special. The beer cheese and queso with the pretzel were both solid. Chicken sandwich was light, which I appreciated, but it had an odd combination of mustard and banana peppers on it. Gave it a unique taste, but not my favorite. What really shocked me is that there was absolutely nobody here. I came during happy hour and it was a ghost town. Even without happy hour I thought that prices were more than reasonable for Arlington. Cool vibe inside too. Maybe it was just the wrong day of the week.

Iman was an incredible server. She was attentive without being overbearing and always checked in at the right time. Our drinks were never empty, and she made us have a fantastic night. What really stood out was her friendly personality, genuine smile, and great recommendations. Her service alone will make me come back!

This was my husband’s and my first time patronizing Hyde Social. We selected it specifically for the french toast as it looked very appealing in photos and he loves French toast. We were thoroughly disappointed - it was not good at all. It had no favor, even the presentation was a turn off. However, I did enjoy the Bang Bang shrimp, perhaps one of the best I’ve tasted. Our server was friendly and the hostess was nice as well. The atmosphere was inviting, comfy seating, several mounted televisions, a bar and DJ section. It’s definitely an establishment for socializing. We won’t return for brunch; however, if we’re ever in that area may drop by for a take-out order of Bang Bang Shrimp.

Yelp
Hyde Social is the amazing new spot that replaced Pamplona and it is an elevated experience. I held our studio happy hour here and everyone had a wonderful time. Good drinks, excellent food, and great service. There are tons of TVs so great for watching games and plenty of seats for sitting with friends. They've got a fun Photo Booth and I've had a blast everyone I go. Sherm is an excellent bartender ( espresso martini) so ask him for one! Love Hyde and will be back lots this year!

Yelp
Came to watch a football game, food and drinks were good. Ordered old bay wings and waffle fries. They could have cleaned the wings better there were a lot of hair & feathers though.

Yelp
Hyde Social looks better online than in person. The interior is slick but small, and the food menu definitely needs an upgrade. Drinks were decent, but we were disappointed watching the NBA playoffs on smaller screens while the big screens stayed on hockey. Meanwhile, the spot next door had NBA game on every screen and was packed. That said, once the game ended and the DJ started spinning, the crowd shifted over, and the vibe picked up fast. Great atmosphere on the patio for a cigar--just wish there were TVs out there too.

Yelp
Hyde Social has a great ambiance, the service is awesome, and music is always on point. It's our favorite place in Arlington to visit on the weekends!

Yelp
This review semi pains me to make, even though the bartender's service was decent, the owner pulled me aside from my group of friends to in essence hate crime me for my identity. Saddening to see trans hate be perpetuated when most bars in the area never have that issue.

Yelp
Old space, completely new design. Hyde is a new sports bar in the Clarendon Arlington area. I can't recall what it was before but I visited Halloween Weekend and had a great time! Clarendon night bars aren't known for great service but our waitress kept checking in, bringing water, drinks and good energy all night! I was impressed with that. The DJ was great and there's enough space to dance when the lights get low or get seated at a booth. I was still able to conversatie with my table so the music level was just right. I believe the center furniture is 1st come, 1st serve. Maybe I'll be back to try food but my experience of it at night was great!

Yelp
This is the former Pamplona space reimagined. Think upscale sports lounge. Mini-arena style scoreboards, with comfortable lounge and traditional seating. Two indoors bars and one serving outdoor guests. Drinks and food are far above what you'd expect from "Clarendon Sports Bar". Bang bang shrimp, mango habanero wings, and the ahi tuna app are some standouts. Great beer selection and cocktails are well thought out and well-balanced. I've never had a bad experience here, shoutout to the staff. A home run for Clarendon.

Yelp
This is a newer location that replaced my beloved Pamplona restaurant in the Clarendon area. I decided to pop in to grab some food and check out some of the NFL playoff games taking place that day. I'd consider this more of an upscale sports bar by comparison to the traditional hole in the wall spots, it has bars on both ends of the restaurant as well as several tables with comfy couch seating great for large or small parties. I got there early enough to grab a seat at the bar, there was plenty of friendly and welcoming staff on hand seemingly well-prepared to accommodate what became a growing crowd before the game which is always appreciated. Their menu features starters like bang bang shrimp, chicken tenders, and calamari (starter prices ranging from $11-$17), in addition to heartier entrees like New York Steak, mushroom ravioli, and pan-roasted salmon (entree prices ranging from $15-$30). They also offer a variety of cocktails options from their frozen painkiller to their espresso rye beverage (ranging from $14-$22). I decided to try out a few different items: the waffle fries, beef sliders, old-bay flavored jumbo wings, and the philly cheesesteak eggrolls. The food took awhile to come out given the large amount of customers at that time but the server was intentional about providing periodic updates on the items. As for the food: the fries were good, hot and not overdone, the beef sliders were probably my favorite item simple but really flavorful, the eggrolls were a bit underwhelming since that was the item I was most enthusiastic about trying but something about the composition and flavor profile didn't agree with me, and the old bay wings were excellent, well-seasoned but not overbearing with the seasoning which is a common issue with a lot of the old bay wings I've tried at sports bars. All in all a really positive experience and I'll definitely be returning to try some more of the entree items.

Yelp
Top notch service and great food, great drinks as well. The spot is family friendly as our kids enjoyed the brunch selections.

Yelp
It's probably best for afternoon sports. The place is big with many TVs. The seating is all over the place but it's available. At night it gets packed with the socially awkward age 20-30 somethings. Food and drinks were mid. You can easily rack up a $100 tab with the prices.

Yelp
Hyde social is a new restaurant right in Clarendon. Great food and great speciality cocktails awesome place to watch ca caps game or golf. The music on the weekends is always top 40 or throwbacks and service is always friendly.

Yelp
Came with a large group of friends for a birthday, atmosphere was okay, floor plan makes it a little awkward when there is a dj, who unfortunately was painfully average. the reason for the 1 star review, apart from the less than stellar drinks and poor service, is that the owner thought it was great to pull my friend aside, most likely to not have a scene happen with the large group we were in, and deny their identity. If you want to make a stance on trans people put up a sign instead of hide your disdain for them from the public. Just go to bar bao, better food, drinks, and service.

Yelp
Mel was our server and she was awesome Celebrated a friend's birthday and ambiance is great, steak was yummy, had the ube spice and titos strawberry cooler both good drinks!

Yelp
Love it here! First time checking the place out. Brunch mimosa deal is awesome and my omelette was good. Server was great, I believe his name was Jimmy. All in all a great place to go and great atmosphere to watch sports.

Christopher P.

Yelp
this establishment had made an unauthorized charge to my card. i called Hyde and was giving 2 responses either the manager wasn't in or his on the phone but you can email him your complaint. the fact that after I left a message for him directly to who of his workers and emailed him, he never return my call. this place seems very shady and making unauthorized transactions is very concerning but the manager doesn't seem care to follow up with a recent guest says it all about it. not returning to this establishment again.

Yelp
Bartenders are quick and efficient, management is more than accommodating, and the drinks are always flowing. Saturdays are packed. Definitely come here looking for a good time!

Gavin J.

Yelp
The most rude staff I have ever experienced. Drinks are way over priced. Avoid at all costs.
