"When Hydraulic Hearth burst on the scene in 2014, in the recently revitalized Larkin District, it was met with a litany of praise for its wood-fired pizzas and expert cocktails. Since then, it’s maintained rave reviews by keeping things simple, with a concise menu of just a dozen pies and a bar program that focuses on fresh ingredients. Go for unique pizzas like the Spring Onion with herb-oil crust, smoked Polish sausage, and mozzarella, and stay for drinks like the perfectly balanced Why Am I Mr. Pink, made with Scotch, blueberry, lemon, cinnamon, and eucalyptus. Should you be more of a beer person, know that, in addition to three rotating guest taps, the restaurant partners with local brewery Community Beer Works to brew eight different beers in-house."

Google
lovely little gem, a little pricey but the quality matches the cost and the portions are generous. We could’ve split a pizza but leftovers are always appreciated 😋the fries were top notch and excellent beer selections. Food came incredibly quickly.

Google
We had two delicious craft cocktails, split a Caesar salad (delicious, creamy. Incredible homemade croutons) a burrata pizza (the marinated tomatoes and crisped prosciutto were incredible) and the fries! (Perfectly done, salted enough, hot, and the malt vinegar aioli is incredible). Lots of seating at 7 on a Friday night. We sat down. Decided what we wanted, then ordered at the bar. We got our food incredibly quickly and it was delicious. The playlist was great and we sang along as we happy ate. Portions were large so we took home leftovers. We'll be back!

The hot honey and short ribs pizzas were delicious! We had bourbon BBQ wings for an appetizer - very tasty! Great atmosphere, friendly bartenders, and we loved the architecture of the brick building. We will be back! Cheers!

Google
This is my favorite place ever. The patio is amazing. I love going here in the summer to sit outside. There’s so many tables that even on a weekend night you won’t have to worry about finding a spot to sit or having to wait. On top of that the food is just incredible. My favorite pizza, and the absolute best mozzarella sticks. I always look forward to coming here and I’m never let down. Highly recommend!!!

Google
Food and drink were ok, a little pricey but my overall review reflects something that left me feeling super disappointed and uneasy. Don't pay cash if you want your change back! I ordered a drink and appetizer at the outside bar and paid with cash. When the bartender didn't give me my change, I asked her about it, and she said "we don't have coins outside so we round up". There is absolutely no signage warning of this practice. Your lack of signage is problematic. If a business does not have coins and intends to round up or down, there should be clear signage informing customers of this policy. Without it, I was NOT properly informed of this, which violates consumer rights under New York State’s General Business Law. “We Don’t Have Coins” isn’t an excuse. A business is still responsible for giving the correct change. I work in the service industry myself and have NEVER rounded up or down in favor of the business, always in favor of the customer. Rounding to the business’s favor without my consent is considered an unauthorized overcharge. This violates Section 349 of the NY General Business Law, which protects against deceptive business practices. It's not a matter of a few pennies, this is shady business practice. Do better and don't steal money from your customers.

Google
Great food and good drinks. The crispy cauliflower is amazing. The banana pepper dip cannot be described fairly, you really have to try it. Pizzas are fabulous! They have a wide selection of top shelf liquor and what I was told, were some pretty good beers.

Google
We visit this place almost every Saturday night for some pizza. Pizza is absolutely the best. Sat along the pizza oven area and these guys are like artists making the food. You order everything at the bar and they bring it to the table. Pizza will hit the table in about 10 minutes every time. The bartenders are top notch. Always the same crew in Saturdays. Highly recommend this place.

Google
It was great here! I liked the counter service and the pizza/fries were amazing. The only complaint is lack of metal silverware. I hate eating with plastic.

Yelp
A mainstay location in the heart of Buffalo. They have a brick exterior that boasts a street facing view with both indoor and outdoor seating (when the weather allows). It's dog friendly on the patio area. They have a small but plentiful food menu, and the pizza is a staple option. Check out their fun drink list and their seasonal offerings as they rotate. On the inside they have eclectic decor, exposed brick and mixed seating styles. We had regular work events at this location and staff was really easy to work with and provided excellent service. Overall: A Solid mainstay that consistently showcases why people love it.

Yelp
Came as part of my 5,800 mile 30 city food road trip. A triggering thing for me is spots that only offer full pours of drafts. I view it as a safety concern when driving is a factor and enjoy tasting multiple small pours when possible. Venues tend to make more money per ounce when that's offered anyways. I just got water as a result and bartenders seemed a bit agitated when doing so. Ordered a burrata pizza advertised with garlic oil, mozzarella, marinated tomato, basil, balsamic, and crispy prosciutto. It was fine. There was so little prosciutto though that it was a bit soft on soft. The few pieces on ther were a little soggy.

Yelp
Cozy, open atmosphere with good music playing. We came here while visiting Buffalo because their wood fired pizzas were evidently pretty good. When you arrive, you can take menus and seat yourself and then order at the bar when you're ready. The bartenders were super nice and understanding when I mentioned a peanut allergy in our group. We got the banana pepper dip with pita, a Caesar salad, and burrata pizza. The dip was fantastic and the salad good, but the pizza a bit disappointing. The flavor was there but the bottom crust was soggy. We expected a little bit of a crisp for a wood fired pizza. The drinks were delicious!

Yelp
Despite being a mainstay of the Larkinville area for years, I had never had a chance to try Hydraulic Hearth. Until this past week! Came here for a work happy hour where we had a little section of the bar/restaurant to ourselves. I didn't indulge in any cocktails or beer, the but the aperol spritzes some of my coworkers ordered looked delicious. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and a few of their pizzas. I had some of the Spicy Peps pizza and I thought it was delicious! I'm always a little leery of hot peppers on my food, but I didn't think the slice had too much heat. And the crust was chewy! A truly top-notch pie. The weather wasn't great when we went, so we didn't get to enjoy the patio, but I'd love to come here once summertime really gets into gear just for that. Pizza on the patio just can't be beat!

Yelp
Phenomenal in every way. I had reserved a section of the patio for a Saturday night and it turned out to be a rainy day so the manager, Jeffrey, called me and said he had reserved a space for our group of 15 inside. It was perfect. We were up toward the front of the restaurant in an area with couches and we were given a section of the bar as well. My one friend who came is in a wheelchair and the space was a perfect layout for her thankfully. Pizzas, drinks and service were all so great. We brought out own desserts as it was a continuation of a bday party and Jeffrey happily stored the cake I. The fridge til we needed it. Favorite pizzas include the salami & fig and the hot honey. Highly recommend this place for their food and hospitality.

Yelp
Great place for a delicious pizza and drinks! I got to enjoy their outdoor patio, which made the experience even better. You order food and drinks at the bar and the food came out quickly. The hot honey pizza was perfection. The pepperoni with the hot honey gave it a savory and sweet taste.

Yelp
everytime i come here it's a pretty good time. especially when they do $10 pizzas on tuesdays when it's cold. SUCH A STEAL and i love that they don't skimp on ingredients or size when it's happy hour. we love an honest business. only critique is that the pizzas with sweet elements tend to be VERY sweet...they go heavy handed on the sweet toppings. be aware if you're not lookin for a dessert pizza lol! otherwise everything else i've had here is pretty good. idk about the drinks, though, they're okay! nothing special just ok :)

Yelp
Just got into town and this was down the block from our accommodations! We loved the vibe, very relaxed environment. Tons of outdoor seating! Reinforced by the "order at the bar" service, which is fine by me. The bar service and food service were both very fast. We both had cocktails which were fine! I got the special and it wasn't my fave, but that's more on me. We got the medium Buffalo wings, the hot honey pizza, and the burrata pizza. The food was good! Not sure if the pizzas are worth $18/ea though. The burrata was my fave. Overall good experience!

Yelp
The service was great, the setting was very nice and the food was good. The bartender who took our order was very friendly and good at explaining things. We ordered a specialty rum cocktail and got a brick oven pizza. I wish I remembered the names of each, but I waited too long to leave the review for those particulars. But, I do remember the important part, the drink was yummy and so was the pizza. The only complaint I have is that they must have needed to clean their oven or something because the pizza had a lot of black char stuck on the bottom (see pics). It was nice there were water stations to help yourself to hydration. They didn't have waiters, you just got a number when ordering at the bar and they had food runners. Also, I found the pricing to be quite reasonable for Buffalo. I would visit again.

Yelp
Love Hydraulic Hearth! It's one of my favorite spots in Larkinville. They have the best outdoor patio area with a lot of tables and lawn games. Their menu is limited with just a couple appetizers and several types of pizza, but everything is so delicious. Their weekly specials for food and drinks are always great too. On Thursdays, they have themed tiki nights with fun special drinks and food menus. For example, this last Thursday they had a Harry Potter themed tiki night. The drinks menu was super creative and I really wish I could've tried them all! I ordered butter beer and a Felix Felicis drink. They even had Harry Potter decorations up all over. You do have to order food and drinks at the bar and sometimes the line can get pretty long. But to me it's still worth it!

Yelp
Great atmosphere inside and out. The patio was lively with the outdoor bar and plenty of tables. Drinks were great, I love that they make a lot of ingredients in house. I had the inside bar make me a hugo spritz which was delicious! The fries were AMAZING!! They were definitely a sharable. The hot honey pizza was flavorful although I did wish it was a little bit spicier. Despite the place being packed the food came out timely. Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
Ambiance here could not be better. So much outdoor seating, really nice porch, would return just to sit out there! Service was really friendly and fast, can't believe how fast they got the pizzas out. The spicy pep is an amazing pizza, ORDER THE SPICY PEP, they have the perfect amount of honey and the ricotta is so delish! I'd give that pizza an A+. That being said, the margherita and the vodka special was very underwhelming. The basil on the margherita had no flavor, sauce wasn't very tasty, I would definitely not order it again. And the vodka was a little better but not our favorite.

Yelp
Looking for a good place to hang out and wet your whistle? Than Hydraulic Hearth is the place. The Bartenders are very friendly, and are up to creating new drinks for your enjoyment. Since Covid, you come and choose wherever you want to sit at. Upon entering the hostess gives you a menu, and gives you the what's what about the restaurant. To your left they sell specialty drinks, some condiments, and merchandise. Chicken wings- good sized wings.. I would like them more crispier though Fried cauliflower- first few bites were good. But then you get tired of the greasy taste of fried food. Salad- very very good and refreshing Pepperoni pizza (not shown)- very good pizza, especially the crust Mozzarella sticks- nice and cheesy Beer- draft beer from KCBC (stout) and it was extremely tasty

Yelp
Located in Larkinville, with cool casual vibe aesthetic. We came on Tuesday where their pizzas are $10 which is a nice deal. The bar is huge and has so many liquor options with the drinks always changing. We sat at the bar and I ordered a Paloma with their homemade grapefruit juice. I ordered the burrata pizza but there were so many delicious pizzas it was hard for me to pick. The combo is always a classic with crispy prosciutto with the acidity of the balsamic. The crust was crispy and the pizza was a good size that left a piece or two for leftovers. Will be back to try a different pizza.

Yelp
We got it to go and it was ready in 15 min. We started eating it right away! So good hot and fresh!

Yelp
The patio was busy and the inside bar was easy to order at. We ordered some beautiful drinks at the inside bar. We also ordered some food from the inside bar which was delivered to our outdoor table. Great atmosphere. Laid back. Water available to grab as needed as well as napkins and silverware. They make it easy. Nice summer hang out.

Yelp
I stopped here last night with my boyfriend. It was weird to not see it super packed. I hadn't been here since 2018 or 2019. At that time, they always were super busy on Friday nights. They also used to have wait staff. The employees who took our plates are more or less food runners. Upon entering you need to seat yourself. (Why have a hostess stand/area then?) If you're not seated at the bar, you have to go up to a special section at the bar and order food and drinks there. That was a bit weird and off putting. My boyfriend put in an order for an Irish coffee for myself, a baby kittens IPA for himself, and meatballs for an appetizer. My Irish coffee was good, he enjoyed his beer and we both enjoyed the meatballs. For our food, we split two pizzas. I wanted the potato bacon pizza and he wanted the pizza from their specials menu, which was salami fig. Both were so very amazing, especially the potato bacon pizza. The place was low key and quiet. It had a chill vibe. If you wanted water, cutlery, or a box to take the rest of your pizza home, you had to get it yourself from a table near the patio. I wasn't used to that at this place. If you want great drinks and amazing pizza, this place is worth the price, just be ready to order your own food up front and get your own table settings and to-go boxes.

Yelp
In early August, my boyfriend and I were in Chicago and got reservations to one of the top tiki bars in the country, Three Dots and a Dash. I was not impressed at all and didn't appreciate the sweet concoctions. My boyfriend loved it. Fast forward to stopping by for a few cocktails at Hydraulic and Danny made THE best tiki drinks in all the land. They were not overly sweet, the sweetness was subtle and he made me the signature three dots and a dash drink and it was a completely different experience at Hydraulic than the one I had in Chicago. Hydraulic does a lot of things well, like everything, but their tiki drinks are outstanding. Run when they do the tiki Thursdays.

Yelp
Back again! The pizza is excellent. I love it here. This pizza had chicken sausage, rosemary, and fig jelly. So good!

Yelp
I can't say enough about how good their mushroom, leek and pesto pizza is! A wonderful balance of flavors! And the crust is perfectly thin.

Yelp
We were in the area and stopped by for a casual mid week dinner. A change since we have last been here is that the service model has changed to more fast casual. The menu is the same but now you order your food and drinks at the bar and someone brings your food to your table when it's ready. It wasn't busy when we came and this was fine for us. The food here is always good, today was no exception. We both ordered pizza. The chicken pesto for him, he said it was good, and had plenty of fresh ingredients. I tried the gluten free crust on the mushroom truffle pizza. The gluten free crust was not bad, good flavor and decent texture. I'd describe it more like a flat bread. There was a wonderful amount of truffle oil/ flavor and a generous helping of arugula, mushroom and cheese. It was a nice and light pizza, kind of like a salad. I liked it and would recommend and order it again. If you are in the mood for gourmet pizza and cocktails check this place out!

Yelp
This came strongly recommended from my roommates who love trying pizza everywhere. They were raving about the Burrata pizza so when I was in the neighborhood on a Saturday afternoon, I decided to finally give it a shot. The place was well decorated and it was order at the counter and go sit at a table kind of a place. As I looked at the menu, something else caught my eye - a ratatouille pizza! I've always liked ratatouille so I was really curious to see what this would taste like in the pizza form. I decided on going half and half on my pizza with it. I'm a vegetarian so they removed the meat from the Burrata pizza. I was also happy to see that there were quite a few veggie options in the pizza section. My friend ordered medium chicken wings because he was not in the mood for pizza. As we waited, we grabbed water from the water cooler and our silverware. After about 20 minutes wait, our food was ready. My pizza was pretty delectable. I definitely liked the Burrata more than ratatouille. That's not to say ratatouille was bad, but Burrata was better. Ratatouille is more like the veggies just roasted on top of the pizza so it didn't feel anything more special. However, my friend said the wings were probably some of the worst he's had in Buffalo so I would suggest sticking to the pizza if you visit here. He was also disappointed that they don't do 'hot wings'. It's not a place I would probably die to come back to but I think I would come back to this place if someone else planned it.

Yelp
cheesy garlic bread is actually just thin a garlic pizza. Passsssss. No servers, you have to order and pay at the bar. Bartender told me I had to go inside to get garnish for my non-alcoholic drink. Pizza was underwhelming and garlic bread disappointing. Their fried cauliflower is surprisingly good but overall not impressed.

Yelp
My best friend had her WEDDING at Hydraulic Hearth. I was blown away by the whole experience! The building/atmosphere was super cute and trendy. The ceremony was held outside and was perfect... a bit cold in late October but lovely nonetheless. The staff here were friendly, especially the bartender who kept my water glass full during the open bar. The food was excellent. A variety of pizzas, homemade mozzarella sticks and battered cauliflower were served. Unfortunately, the pizzas were going so fast that there weren't many options when we got up to the buffet line. Usually only we'd only be able to take one slice at a time. The staff were churning out the pizzas as fast as possible. P.S. The mozz sticks were AMAZING. All in all, this place is awesome. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Love their pizzas and wine selection. Used to work across the street and loved to stop in for a post drink glass of wine. I don't think they do table service any more, which is a shame. Last time I stopped in I had to wait in a long line to order a drink since everyone has to go to the bar to order.

Mitch D.

Yelp
Service was outstanding, bartenders are super friendly and cooI, highly recommend stopping by and trying it out!! But I gotta say the banana pepper dip being taken off the menu is honestly just sad, that was the best thing on the menu, ordered it everytime!!! Im not sure who takes care of menu and stuff but like they don't know what they're doing!! Bring it back Asap Rocky

Yelp
The family and I were in Buffalo over the weekend for the Bills-Packers game and came here on a Friday night for dinner and drinks. We experienced some excellent food/drinks over the weekend stay but this was by far our favorite. My girlfriend and I ordered the burrata pizza and it was perfect after a few days of heavy Buffalo styled pizza and wings. Light, bold in flavor and very reminiscent of artisan slices back home in Portland. My son ordered the waffles fries with sausage gravy & chives and devoured it before we finished our first set of cocktails. Speaking of those cocktails, hands down the best we had in the city - creative, complex, including bold seasonal flavors. My girlfriend ordered a few Jack-O-Lits and it rivaled some of the best drinks we've had over the years. I made the mistake of not taking note of the name of my first drink; but it was an excellent seasonal with mezcal that didn't disappoint. Bartenders were friendly, attentive and damn good. We'll be back here each time we visit Buffalo again. Go Bills!

Yelp
Space inside is cozy. It can get a bit tight on nights that have specials. It's typically dim lighting which is great for a date night. They will occasionally have live music which is nice. Since covid you seat yourself and order at the bar. The indoor bar is open for all orders. It's also nice that you get a glimpse of the pizza as it's being made. This was my first time enjoying the outdoor seating which is very spacious! The outside bar had bottled drinks and you could place orders for the food specials. It is dog friendly. I love a good cocktail and they do not disappoint. I think Tiki Thursday's are my favorite! They have good drink deals that come in the cutest mugs. I've noticed they add new drinks to the menu all the time. The pizza is always freshly made and I have no complaints. I always appreciate the fact that there are vegetarian options and there was a vegan pizza on the menu recently. They also are adding/switching out pizzas all the time so you can't get bored. If you're not a fan of thin pizza, there are different starters and sandwiches as well.
google avatar

Valeria A.

Yelp
Everything is good. The staff, Food tasty easy menu, delivered in a very timely fashion. Looks wonderful and the location you can be inside or you can be outside or on the patio when they have live music. It's great!

Yelp
I've been here before and loved it... but tonight was a bad experience. My boyfriend and I went for a late dinner and drinks around 8:45pm. We are both strict vegetarians and he is allergic to eggs and can't have anything with eggs in it. We thought this place sounded like it had some great options for him since they say "vegan" friendly. We walked in and ordered drinks and then asked the bartender if he could help us with some dietary restriction questions or if we should ask the guys making pizzas. He said he could help because either way they would have to check on things. So we asked about two different apps- the banana pepper dip or cauliflower and if it was eggless and/or any if the items were fried in the frier with meat. He said the chips were fried, so he offered to do veggies with the banana pepper dip. We said that sounded good and we would do that. We also said we wanted to order pizza as well but would come back in a bit to order that and more drinks. We opened our tab for the dip and 2 drinks and went back to the table. 30 - 40 minutes went by and we were still waiting on the dip. We thought maybe it would take longer than usual due to the swap from chips to veggies. They don't have servers after a certain time and it was getting late so no one was checking on us. I figured I would at least go close the tab while we waited. I went to pay and the dip was never even entered into the computer... so we sat there waiting for 30 - 40 minutes for nothing. By the time I had closed the tab it was 9:45... they close at 10. So no dinner for us. Such a bummer, honestly. It is cute inside and they played great music, but we confirmed we wanted the dip and never got any food...

Yelp
I think this place has really come into its own in the past few years . The patio is fantastic . It is spacious and full of character. You also get a good view of the events at Larkin without dealing directly with the hustle and bustle. I got the opportunity to have a date there this past Tuesday and enjoyed a couple tasty Pineapple Kolshes and shared a cheese and pepperoni pizza . You just walk up to the outdoor bar to place your order . The staff as a whole was working together to deliver food , serving containers , remove dishes , etc. The pizza was actually a decent one that was a wood fire oven style . Lots of cheese and pepperoni and a sauce with a kick ! I really enjoyed the whole evening and think it was the perfect place for a first date .

Yelp
I've visited a couple of times but this last visit definitely kicked it up a notch for me. When we walked in, there was a sign saying to grab a menu and seat ourselves. We picked a table in the middle of the restaurant which was conveniently placed right in front of the bar. We were there for their "$10 Pizza Tuesday" and they had a great variety of pizzas! We ended up ordering the Margherita pizza and the Artichoke pizza. There isn't much to rave about for the margherita pizza because, hey, it's a margherita pizza. I will say they're crust is SO YUMMY. The artichoke pizza was TO DIE FOR! I couldn't help but laugh because it looks like a "Grinch" pizza LOL. It was delicious and I wish we had ordered two of those! The drinks were and always have been OUTSTANDING. It's obvious they have some of the best bartender's in Buffalo. I ordered a simple margarita on the rocks with salt on the rim to start. Delicious and well made. The second (and third) drink I ordered was made with mezcal, but unfortunately I cannot remember the name. Something along the lines of "Visions of...plum?" Now this is the drink that nearly knocked me off my chair at the first sip! Y'all. Please make an effort to go check out this restaurant on either Tuesdays for their pizza deal or Thursdays for the tiki drinks! 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
This place is known for Woodfired pizzas. We ordered two pizzas to take out. We got a buffalo fried chicken pizza, and a white pie. We enjoyed both. Both were rather artfully presented. I thought the buffalo chicken pizza could have used more chicken, but the Pickled celery was a nice touch. The white pie had garlic cream, mozzarella, ricotta, and spinach. Sometimes the Woodfired pizzas get a little overdone, but these were cooked properly. They have some other interesting selections as well. We might try some other varieties in the future.

Yelp
Way over-priced. Positives: Great hang-out spot on Food Truck Tuesdays. Outdoor seating available to all. You can even bring food from the food trucks there. They have an outdoor bar where you can place food orders. There's cornhole to play as well. Oh and the pizzas can be made gluten-free. (But of course with all restaurants that are not fully GF, there is always the risk for cross-contamination). Negatives: It came to $38 for 2 pizzas. 38 bucks! I was really looking forward to trying the arugula pesto pizza that has Brussels sprouts and pistachios on it. To my disappoint there were no Brussels. They had substituted asparagus, which tasted alright. I just wish I would have been notified, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it and saved it for a time when Brussels were available. The second pizza was the special of the day - Breakfast. It had diced ham, caramelized onions, scrambled eggs. It was yummy, but by no means worth the $18 it cost. Overall Review: The atmosphere is cool and it might be a nice spot to have a drink and people watch. I just wouldn't recommend it for pizza. There are other wood-fired pizza places around Buffalo that offer a better pie for the price.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place for happy hours! The pigs in the blanket, the greek fries and the roasted cauliflower are to die for. The drinks are a little over priced but I'd definitely still pay for the vibes and ambiance here!

Yelp
This was our first time here. We reserved a table, which I highly recommend, as this is a popular restaurant. The setting is open with high ceilings and exposed brick. The atmosphere is a comfortable chic casual. There is a large bar with excellent mixologist preparing drinks. The second bar area overlooks the brick oven for you to watch the chef prepare pizzas while eating your meal. The staff was extremely friendly and very welcoming. We did our usual ordering of several appetizers and one main plate. We like to get a nice variety and have found this to be the best way to test out our first visit to a restaurant. First out on the table were the Loaded Tots, Korean Cut Short Ribs and the Bourbon Chicken Wings. The wings and ribs were our favorite. Not your usual of either and both bold in flavors, so a nice change. The tots were good, with the pulled pork being the highlight of those. Next out was the chicken and waffles pizza. It sounded like an interesting twist, especially because I love those ingredients off of a pizza, but because our other dishes were so bold in flavors, this came off as too bland, so we probably would choose something different next time. I will say that the crust had great chew and they know how to use their brick oven! I have written off ordering them from many places because they don't know how to prepare them correctly! From the bar, I enjoyed the Spiced El Presidente so much, that I had 2! These are strong, but sooo delicious!!! My husband had the seasonal Hot Buttered Rum, which was not only delicious, but so much fun to watch them prepare! Don't miss going here. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Exquisite vegan pizza and other dishes! Their outdoor space is such a wonderful vibe especially when music is playing across the street and sometimes right on the patio! The owner is clearly passionate about his restaurant and the service is always spectacular. Highly recommend

Yelp
This restaurant has been on our list for awhile and we finally managed to schedule a date. We had heard many good things about this place and were looking forward to our evening. We made reservations for our party of six and were happy when we arrived as they sat our party at the front of the restaurant by the window. We were grateful that our table was there as the restaurant was pretty loud and we knew we would have had a hard time hearing each other. As there were six of us, we enjoyed roaming through the drink and dinner menus, and had fun choosing many different things to try for appetizers and pizzas. We ordered appetizers of: sweet bourbon BBQ wings, oysters, Swedish meatballs, and tater tots that came with dipping choices of applesauce & sour cream. When they arrived, all the choices were perfect for sharing and we were each able to sample everything; oysters were only for a select few - ha! Everything was so delicious; the tots were crisp potato cubes which just fell apart in your mouth. The wings were perfectly crisp, but not overly done and the sauce had a sweet tanginess. The meatballs were juicy and very flavorful, and those who ate the oysters raved about their freshness. As this place is known for their craft beers and brick oven pizzas, we were enjoying our drinks and couldn't wait to try their pizzas. We ordered the sausage pomodoro, a regular pepperoni, the Larkin herbs & cheese, and the burrata pizza that had crisped prosciutto. We thought that these would be a good sampling of Hydraulic's offerings. When the pizzas arrived about 20 minutes later, their visual appeal was tantalizing! Everyone eagerly began taking pieces of each and moaning in delight. The pepperoni 'za had nicely curled up and crispy 'ronis. The herbs & cheese pizza had a perfect blend of parsley, sage, rosemary & thyme (cue Simon & Garfunkel). The burrata pizza was a huge hit and I only managed to have one piece as it quickly flew off the platter; loved the prosciutto!!! The sausage pomodoro was so flavorful with the pork sausage and cheeses. All the pizzas had a thin crust and the slices were sized well for sampling. All the food paired well with our craft beers and cocktails. We wound up walking out with only three pieces of pizza and we all agreed we would be back to eat our way through the rest of the menu!

Yelp
Place is fantastic. Food is delicious. I highly recommend one of their pizzas. Doesn't matter which one, they're all delicious. Great patio with things to do in the summer, and they added a tiki bar with delicious summer cocktails. You definitely get what you pay for here, though the prices aren't that bad considering the area and the place as a whole. Drinks are strong, so keep that in mind, as you may want to Uber! Plenty of seating inside and outside. This place is not open until 4pm, and I believe it is closed Monday and Tuesday. I wish they were open for lunch, that's the only con. There's street parking, and a small lot behind the Swan Street Diner, which is right next door. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is the first place we tried while visiting Buffalo for the weekend. Food and decor are amazing. Drinks take a bit to make as the bartenders are true mixologists but every cocktail was fantastic.

Yelp
Not cheap, but the ambience is great and the quality of the food very good. The bartenders are nice too. Definitely a comfort spot for me after work.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times and am NEVER disappointed in my experience. Last night I went for drinks with a friend now that they are reopened inside. We sat at the bar and our bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable about their liquors and cocktails. I had the Pimm's cup cocktail and the flavors were exquisite. We got the banana pepper dip and all I can say is WOW. Previous times I have ordered their pizzas, all of which are fantastic. There hasn't been a menu item that I didn't like. In the warmer seasons, there is a huge courtyard with outdoor games available. They hold events regularly. The bar is nestled right across form Larkin Square downtown and is a must visit spot.

Yelp
Cool vibe but food was meh.... Have to order at the bar so no real service. Would not go back when there are so many other cool places

Yelp
This place always has a great atmosphere! Two bars, one inside and one simple patio bar - service is always top notch. Can't recommend their food enough. As someone who has celiac disease, having a gluten free wood-fired pizza section on the menu is super exciting!

Yelp
I've previously frequented Larkinville but had yet to stop by Hydraulic Hearth. I finally got the chance to stop by after the Larkinville Block Party. My date and I requested a table for two - there were only seats left at the chefs counter which was fine. It was kind of cool to see the chefs freshly making the pizzas. They also have an outdoor patio area but that was crowded as well. The inside decor is thoughtful and very nicely done. Our server was very friendly and helpful in going over the menu. The menu however, is mostly pizza withe some appetizers. They had a lot of interesting cocktails and I went with one of the seasonal ones. I ended up ordering the vegan pizza and sharing a soup with my date. I was very impressed with the vegan pizza! It was loaded with toppings and tasted just fine even though there was no cheese. They also have complimentary Public coffee which was a nice after-dinner treat. Overall I enjoyed my experience at Hydraulic Health. The one thing I wish they did have was more variety for entrees, however they do their pizza really well since this is what they are concentrating on!

Yelp
Good drink selection, local beers a number of wines and some specialty cocktails on the menu. Nice variety of pizzas and a few sandwiches. Had the cubano tonight and it was good. I'm a huge Cuban sandwich fan and order them whenever I see one on a menu.

Yelp
My husband and I are new to the area and drove through Larkin Square to find some dinner. We stumbled across this place and couldn't be more pleased! The banana pepper dip was suggested by someone that worked there and it was amazing. The toasted bread it's served with is good, but the real treat was getting to eat the bread bowl. This place does dough RIGHT. We enjoyed the seasonal farmers market pizza and y'all, hands down it's one of the best pizzas we've had. All the flavors blended well together and the pickled onions was definitely a treat. Everyone was wearing masks, menus get tossed, partitions are set up, and tables are well spaced. They do a great job of social distancing. Downside is that they don't take reservations, and this place gets BUSY. We arrived at 4:30pm and could already see the crowd going. Get there early and hang out, or arrive and expect a bit of a wait. I will let you know, it's 100% worth it.

Yelp
Visited hydraulic this time for alpaca happy hour but stayed for the food and drinks! Every visit here I've had great service and great food. This time we tried (almost) every pizza!! The mushroom pizza has an amazing vodka sauce as the base which was great. The new herb and cheese pizza tasted like an amped up cheese pizza. The meatball had giant meatballs on it! And the sausage pizza had the right amount of sausage on it! Delicious pizzas that came out super quick (even for a busy happy hour) The mozzarella sticks were GIANT but our friends said they didn't taste as great as they looked though. The tots I would highly recommend though! Don't pass up a chance to come to hydraulic!
