This restaurant has been on our list for awhile and we finally managed to schedule a date. We had heard many good things about this place and were looking forward to our evening.
We made reservations for our party of six and were happy when we arrived as they sat our party at the front of the restaurant by the window. We were grateful that our table was there as the restaurant was pretty loud and we knew we would have had a hard time hearing each other.
As there were six of us, we enjoyed roaming through the drink and dinner menus, and had fun choosing many different things to try for appetizers and pizzas. We ordered appetizers of: sweet bourbon BBQ wings, oysters, Swedish meatballs, and tater tots that came with dipping choices of applesauce & sour cream.
When they arrived, all the choices were perfect for sharing and we were each able to sample everything; oysters were only for a select few - ha!
Everything was so delicious; the tots were crisp potato cubes which just fell apart in your mouth. The wings were perfectly crisp, but not overly done and the sauce had a sweet tanginess. The meatballs were juicy and very flavorful, and those who ate the oysters raved about their freshness.
As this place is known for their craft beers and brick oven pizzas, we were enjoying our drinks and couldn't wait to try their pizzas. We ordered the sausage pomodoro, a regular pepperoni, the Larkin herbs & cheese, and the burrata pizza that had crisped prosciutto. We thought that these would be a good sampling of Hydraulic's offerings.
When the pizzas arrived about 20 minutes later, their visual appeal was tantalizing! Everyone eagerly began taking pieces of each and moaning in delight. The pepperoni 'za had nicely curled up and crispy 'ronis. The herbs & cheese pizza had a perfect blend of parsley, sage, rosemary & thyme (cue Simon & Garfunkel).
The burrata pizza was a huge hit and I only managed to have one piece as it quickly flew off the platter; loved the prosciutto!!! The sausage pomodoro was so flavorful with the pork sausage and cheeses. All the pizzas had a thin crust and the slices were sized well for sampling. All the food paired well with our craft beers and cocktails.
We wound up walking out with only three pieces of pizza and we all agreed we would be back to eat our way through the rest of the menu!
