Ate here today. The beef stew was absolutely delicious and so was the lava cake for dessert. The waitresses were very pleasant. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely eat here again if I'm back in the U.S.

This is a must try restaurant. Incredibly friendly waitresses who know the menu like the back of their hand. Their salmon is so soft and delicious, I could eat it all day

Good place for dinner, staffs are very friendly and caring. Live music available in the evening.

We enjoyed drinks and a late lunch outside on a Sunday. Good food, efficient service, and a nice, central location. Our truffle fries, pastas, and pizzas were nice. The mussels were a little small and the portion was somewhat skimpy.

The food was horrible! The decor was all over the place. The interior actually didn't look well kept and clean. The exposed wooden planks overhead had visible buildup. Would never go there again. Our waitress tried but, her attempts wasn't enough to help the overall experience.

My girlfriend and I spent several hours leisurely eating. The food was great. The service was warm, friendly and wonderful. We will definitely be back!

Amazing family friendly ambiance and great menu including vegetarian friendly items. Cocktails are great especially happy hour 3-6 pm. Food was well cooked. Servers Tony and Alexandra are attentive and quick! Go for a quick bite or lazy evening out. You cant go wrong here.

Relatively large space, your typical type of bar & grill set up. I came for lunch during the week, but it seems like a fun place for a Friday or Saturday night. Service wasn't anything spectacular, but they were friendly and attentive. The food was pretty decent, but I gave it 4 stars because although that best burger contest burger is twice the price of the regular burger, it is 100% worth it! It was slightly undercooked (I ordered it medium) but the flavor was delicious.

Three stars--I really wanted to give four, but I just can't. The server who welcomed us was great--friendly, patient, and professional. They were a bit busy, so it took a while for our server to get to us, which was fine. In a good restaurant, you expect to wait. Honestly, if the food comes too fast, I don't trust it. Now, the waitress... it felt like we were bothering her. The customer service didn't feel welcoming. I asked if I could add an egg to my burger, and her response was, "I'm not sure because the kitchen is busy." I would have preferred a simple "No, we can't do that." But the kitchen is too busy to add an egg? That made no sense. She also said she'd check and never got back to me. The burger was fine, but for $80 for two people, I think we could have had better food and service elsewhere. Wouldn't return.

Was in town recently and looking for lunch. Hydro has been here for a while and still providing a good meal and solid service. The interior is rustic, brick and beams with and open ceiling, booths with a bar. My friends and I were looking for something light before going for mud baths, and you might think bar and grill? They have added a few new salad items to their menu and these are spot on. I went for the Asian Salad with shrimp. A large salad of an assortment of fresh vibrant greens, and half a dozen succulent shrimp, peanuts and sesame oil dressing, with lime wedge. It was quite tasty and served the need. Along with a Sprite and friendly service. A good choice for a meal. 3.5 Stars rounded up for our server 00969

Jan 13, 2025 - My wife and I were just out for a ride in our beautiful Napa Valley. We were looking for a place to eat, a casual place. We were directed to Hydro Bar and Grill in Calistoga. When we entered the sign said take a menu and seat yourself. The place had about 15 customers and there were plenty of tables available. After about a 15 minute wait, the waitress (Mariisol) got to us. Seems she was by herself doing serving and bar tender jobs by herself - no other help . She was obviously harried. My wife ordered the Garlic fries and I ordered a French Dip. After a short time the food arrived. The Garlic Fries ($7.00) arrived and they were pretty good. Kind of thin and the garlic was not spread out evenly. My French Dip was a disappointment. It was small, very little dip (did have some horseradish). The meat was very dry but had a fair amount stuffed in too small of a bun. The dip was bland, not much flavor. It cost $16.00 ! Not worth even $8.00. The poor waitress was running all over doing her best to get patrons served. We also noticed the dust on the over head fans, hanging over the edge of the blades. I was sort of kidding with the waitress but she was too busy to be jovial. So, all in all, not overly impressed with the place. Not likely to go back.

In between wine tastings in the Calistoga area, we stopped in the center of town to grab some lunch. After discovering cafe Sarafonia had closed for the day, we quickly pivoted and found Hydro Bar back towards the center of town that had gluten-free options for my wife as well as options for myself. The French dip and the cocktails such as the Paper Plane were lovely. It was a nice and quick stop to fill up our stomachs before we embarked on our next tasting. If you are looking for bottles to enjoy, the bar has a nice selection of wines that I think you can take home or back to where you are staying in addition to enjoying on-site. Considering we had been going to vineyards all day, we took the respite and had cocktails instead to break up the pace. Service was good at the bar where the vibes were that of a local hangout to watch the news or sports game while enjoying a drink and some pub grub, which they do well.

I was looking for a place downtown to have brunch. I saw two places close together and noticed one had a waitlist. I looked at the menu to see if it was worth the wait. I then went to look at the Menu at Hydro and noticed that they had some of the same prices and dishes. Decided on Hydro. Cute place inside. They have a wonderful Cocktail menu, not only on each table but artfully done on a chalkboard on the wall. I was seated promptly and was served a fresh cup of coffee that was recently made. As I scanned the menu, the chilaquiles called my name. So glad I chose it too! It comes with eggs which I chose scrambled since I am not a fried egg person. The chilaquiles was some of the BEST I have ever had. In a red sauce with lots of cheese.. not dry either which I have had at other places. Came with very flavorful black beans too. My cup was refilled 3 times and water twice without having to ask. The food servers are attentive and friendly. YES! I highly suggest Hydro!!

This is a place to check out as the Fall weather changes, temperatures are mild and summer crowds have left back to the city. Old School vibe and nice bar food. Did not stop in for dinner just Happy Hour. Staff was polite and professional. prices of drinks and food was reasonable as compared to other Napa Valley pricing. stop in give it a try. it is on the Top end of the Napa Valley. so you can your day starting in Napa make your way north end day with a drink and some more reasonably priced hotels and spas with hot springs, massages or a mud bath. Give it a whirl you might be surprised with the small town more relaxed vibe. Follow Up and let me know your thoughts

Came here today since the other local breakfast joint was closed and wow! I have been working in Calistoga for 7 months and how have I not tried this place yet? Food was phenomenal, service was top notch and the vibe was awesome! This will definitely be added to the stops I make in town for lunch.

This is a nice casual place for a good meal. The service was good and friendly. Just could have been a bit better in refiling drinks. The food was great. The burger was another level and excellent. Definitely recommend lunch or dinner. Especially on Tuesdays when no one else is open.

A great place for a quick bite after wine tasting. The food was pretty good for bar food. Loved the drinks we got and the decorations in the restaurant. The bartender was super sweet and helpful. Quick service.

The food hit the spot! We came on a very very busy night and got sat within minutes. The servers personalities were very bland and we had multiple people helping which makes it harder to get anyone's attention when needed. Most of the cocktails are more expensive than the food it's self! We felt like the salad was really expensive for the portion. We had a discrepancy on our bill but the waiter took care of it with no issue.

Came here for lunch while in Calistoga. I had fish tacos ($13) which were good. Came with lettuce and tasted healthy. Boyfriend had a burger. Now, let me break down the burger for you: Burger ($13) comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo. Cheese ($2) Bacon ($2) Fries ($5) - we were asked if we wanted garlic fries and said yes, so that was an additional $2 = $24 Bacon cheeseburger with fries Granted they do have an award winning burger that comes with fries for $22, so in hindsight we should've just ordered that. But it still would've been $24 with the garlic fries upcharge (be careful because they offer them but nowhere on the menu does it mention them or that it costs extra). I would say overall it was good food, however the prices seemed somewhat steep.

Amazing service, the food was actually amazing, the drink i ordered was excellent, i stopped by as i was visiting in town and it was the best decision.

Rustic and delicious this local hangout is a fun place to go in the heart of Calistoga. The beef stew is a must we also got the roasted artichoke which was tasty. Other dishes that we tried are the fish sandwich and the French dip both good but average. The ambiance is like stepping back in time which is refreshing in the Napa Valley and the prices are reasonable.

We stopped into the Hydro Bar & Grill to have a break from the day. We were greeted immediately and sat outside with our dog. The staff was excellent and provided our dog with water while we waited. The food was literally off the charts - the PIZZA - AMAZING! Salads were a refreshing taste to the 80+ degree weather. The streets were so peaceful, the ambiance was refreshing. Definitely coming back here next time we are in town, highly recommend!

Continuing to be one of the best places to hang out in town. You can always watch a game on TV and have a great beer and burger. Best in town easy.

Service was good. Had a hamburger and appreciated they did a lettuce wrap since I can't eat gluten. Good was just okay.

We been coming here at least every year for out birthday's. We love the bartender that was day shift but recently transferred to nights. We 1st met her and we instantly clicked by talking about senior cat and her story is so interesting and beautiful..."the mayor" neighborhood cat . We also love Katie! she's so FUN and just great service from the bartenders Truffle fries: It's perfect... Flavored cosmos : passion fruit! Delicious food in a casual, friendly atmosphere. Prices were quite reasonable for wine country too.

We decided to give this place a try. Sorry we did. 1. Service was horrible. First the food deliverer brought the wrong food to our table, came back, picked it up and took to someone else. Not acceptable. 2. We got the charcutier tray, dropped off with no plates to use. Food slipped off he platter multiple times. 3. When we got our food, I had fries, so I asked the same food deliverer for salt (none on table) and ketchup. I never got it the entire time we were there. The apparent owner of the place walked around talking to select customers, but not all. Very poor ambiance. for $75+, it was a horrid waste of money. Look elsewhere to eat, this place stinks.

Service was great. Ambiance was good for a bar type scene. Food in my experience was really awful! My bad honestly, if I had "read the room" better could have see that it was more of a bar setting.

Came here by mistake I thought it was an other place I had been to before. I do not know what was going on with our server but miss personality she was not! she barely answered our question really seemed like she did not want to be there took for ever to return with anything we asked her for like water! The place was very empty she was not busy hanging around the bar area chatting anyway my dish was good chicken breast over mashed potato's the green been were excellent and I did very much enjoy the cream Beulah. The calamari was just ok 2 people in our party of 4 had the ribs they where good but the portions were very small. We will not be back!

This place is awesome for a nice lunch and a beer outside on the patio! The workers are nice and attentive. They are busy so they forgot one of my friend's entree but they made up for it! What I ordered: -Avocado Toast with Olive Oil and Cheese: This was definitely an experience because I've never had my avocado toast with olive oil before. Bread was nicely toasted and the avocado was creamy and perfect! -Pesto Cream Pasta with Shrimp, Broccoli, and Mushrooms. This was super creamy and the pesto was not overwhelming. The shrimp was well cooked and pasta was just al dente. -Hydro Burger: Their special, award winning burger with fries! To be honest, the burger was average but I loved the fries. Overall great experience, good food, and the outside seating is beautiful!

Great location, cute bar and grill, however we ordered our burger med rare - but it was served well. Our fries were cold, but our bartender was very nice. We understand that she can't control what the kitchen does. Ordered pepper jack and received regular jack and was charged. The cheese was cold, not even a little melted. This place could be better, hopefully they can figure it out. Side note, the burger did have great flavor.

Absolutely recommend Hydros! The food is always fresh and delicious, service is always excellent and prices are extremely reasonable!

My Mom and I came here after a spa day. We had the best burgers EVER!!!!! This was about 10yrs plus ago and we still talk about this place and the burgers

The best burger is not the best burger. I'm so sad to report that the quality of food and service of this place has gone down hill. I use to love to come here for their burgers and shoe string fries. There are no more shoe string fries and the burger are no longer as flavorful as I was use to. The coke did not taste good and so we ask for a sprit, we got a coke. How to you mess on that or even a burger? Again customer service gone down hill.

My girlfriend & I stopped in Hydro on Monday on the way home from Sebastopol. We sat the bar & were completely taken care of by Joshua. Chorizo Quesadillas were excellent & 6 tasty Oysters were very fresh. I was drinking Napa Smith beer & K had 2 Awesome Prickly Pear Margaritas. Talked to several other folks while there & everyone was having a good time. When passing thru Calistoga : Stop by & let Joshua put a smile on your Face. We will be coming by again soon.

Two breakfasts here over the week. I had the hash twice and I can't say enough about how fresh and delicious it was. The staffing on day two was off, but I think the restaurant was busier because the other breakfast place was being painted that day... I would highly recommend !!!

Spending a couple nights in Calistoga celebrating our anniversary... After almost 8 hours of wine tasting it was time to figure out our food plan. Based on recent reviews my husband and I decided to give Hydro a try for dinner tonight. Not sure why we have never eaten here before because they truly exceeded our expectations! I ordered the pork shoulder special and my husband ordered the beef stew special with pasta. We shared the lava cake for dessert. The food was delicious!! We ate every last bite! There were a few tables outside but it was getting cool and we felt safe dining inside. There was hand sanitizer in several areas and the layout is well designed to create space between the tables and bar. Everyone that worked there was wearing a mask. The staff provided great service too! From filling waters to bringing the check before I had to ask. They were "Dialed In" and I love that. Highly recommend Hydro if you're looking for a yummy dinner with a comfortable vibe at a reasonable price.

I love the menu and the Mac and cheese is tangy and delicious with a nice selection of beers. Very good service (always ) and a beautiful atmosphere.

So after I wrote this review Someone at the hydro bar and grill decided to tip themselves $70 . I went down there to speak to the owner they said he will call me apparently the owner don't care now I have to dispute this with my bank

One of the best restaurants in Calistoga. I had the reuben and my husband had the sausage plate with sauerkraut and roasted potatoes.......absolutely delicious! Warm friendly waitstaff especially Marisol who really takes care of you!

Wow ,what a nice surprise after coming back from Harbin hot spring , we were hoping for a warm meal, Andrea b came over and was nice , happy , smiling and super immediately make us feel belong and important. It's looks like she run the place, Lind short story , the Cesar salad had a wonderful flavor, the Chicken wings had perfect moist and the steak was fresh and well cooked.Andrea Recomand Ed the lava cake that was to die for , so so good. We were full and happy.

Good burger. Good sweet potato fries. The servers were nice with our spunky dog. We would eat here again.

For our second dinner we decided to promenade down Calistoga's Main Street until we found inspiration. We landed here. Almost empty on this Tuesday after Thanksgiving, everything went very quick. I had a Wedge Salad with Shrimp... which was great. Hubby had the Roast Pork Special... with potatoes and Brussels sprouts. He was very happy. They have a full bar, but we took a break from alcohol, as we just came from Happy Hour at the Inn. Fast, friendly service. Seemed like a spot locals frequented.

I'd love to give this place more than a 3 star review for its food and cocktails, however the lack of attention to ambiance is a big detraction. Cocktails are consistently good, food keeps me coming back. I cannot understand why, with the high influx of tourists from the Bay Area coming to visit the high end resorts, some effort to update seating, lighting to highlight windows at the entrance and cleaning of cobwebs hanging from beams isn't made. Driving by it is sometimes hard to tell if the establishment is actually open! Redo the booths, light up those beautiful windows with some string lighting and do some dusting on those beams. I'd love to give the Hydro a 5 star!

I was in the Calistoga area today, being Saturday afternoon, 10/24/20 - decided to stop back in to the Hydro bar and grill, sat outside, Joshua, greeted me, using Covid precautions, etc. etc. ordered a nice cold beer, and the bruschetta, which both were awesome, once again! If you're in the Calistoga area, check this unique, awesome place out!

This isn't a very comprehensive review as we only got take-out and I wasn't the one who picked it so I never actually set foot in the place. So I'm reviewing food only! My husband and daughter both got pizzas and I tasted both of them and they were excellent. I, on the other hand, got macaroni and cheese. While there was nothing wrong with it, it wasn't exceptional either. I felt it needed something. I'm giving 5 stars because I think 2 out of 3 is good, and also the prices seemed way more reasonable than other restaurants in the area.

My partner and I came here for Valentine's Day 2020, and he has been craving this burger ever since. This past week we took the hour and a half drive to Calistoga from Oakland, and let me tell you it was definitely worth the drive. My partner had the Calistoga's "best burger", and he agrees with that title. I tried it and I have to also agree! It is filled with fresh mozzarella, grilled onions, and thick slices of prosciutto. I was hoping to have the muscles in coconut curry as I had last year but I didn't see that on the menu. I took this as a sign to try something new. had the cornmeal crusted Chile relleno with some puréed beans and chips on the side. I always like to see other peoples interpretation of this traditional dish, and I was impressed. There were three different types of cheeses and some green rice as stuffing. I paired this with a glass of rosè and my partner had a local beer. The service is great the food is delicious and made to order. There is a large outdoor dining space for such a small location I highly recommend coming here on a quick getaway to see some beautiful nature and have some amazing food. Only downside: as the outdoor dining is built above the gutters every now and then you would get a strong wiff of, well gutter LOL. I think it would be great to plant some fresh flowers in that area or at least have some kind of fresh aromatic's.

This is my first, and last, time here. The feel of Hydro Bar and Grill is that of a dive. Our waitress was very inexperienced which made service less than average. Even though the restaurant says "bar" in the name, you won't be able to order cocktails as common as a Jack and Coke. They don't have it. It took our waitress over 10 minutes to tell us they didn't have Jack Daniels. She didn't know what it was. However, an experienced waitress would have told us what bourbons they do have so that I could choose, our waitress did not know this intuitively and I was not in the mood to train her. This place had more of a wine bar look, so we ordered water. I ordered the pasta (see photo) with a mushroom broccoli cream sauce. My fiancé ordered the chicken with some type of cream sauce. She can't do the cream sauce, so we ordered it without the cream sauce. My pasta was absolutely awesome! Very unique flavor and there was plenty to eat. My fiancé's chicken came drenched in cream sauce. We sent it back and it took 30 minutes before her dish came back out. I had completed my meal and I had to wait for her to finish hers. We had to ask for our check when we saw our server (she had disappeared). Total time for dinner, 1 1/2 hours. Way too long. There was only us and 3 more tables. Even though the food was great, I won't be going back due to the inexperienced servers. That and it takes to long to eat there.

This is a cute place located in Calistoga. I was starving after a mud bath and massage. The ambiance was mellow but I didn't get a true restaurant feel due to Covid. Dining out just feels unusual during these times. Not the restaurants fault, just life right now. Customer service was great. They refilled my water several times. They took our food order quickly enough for a starving gal. Food: Calamari-delicious, aioli paired with it and lemon made it perfect. Chicken wings: fried just enough for the crisp and just enough for the juiciness. The flavors were rich and sweet. Salad: the citrus dressing was a bit to sour, not enough walnuts or goat cheese and too much dressing

Stopped here for appetizers and rinks. Great wine and beer selection. We sat outside, but the restaurant offered many indoor and outdoor options. We had the truffle fries at the recommendation of our server... delicious! Server was prompt and friendly.

Not your ordinary bar food. We both had the Niçoise salad, with perfectly prepared fresh tuna, warm potatoes, green beans and even the hard boiled eggs were freshly cooked. We've been coming to Calistoga for years, but tonight we realized just how good this old understated stand by of ours really is. The man at the table next to us had a great looking plate of ribs. We had the molten chocolate cake for dessert. It looks like a bar, but eats way better.
