This is one of the local coffee places I always recommend to out of town guests. The coffee and specialty beverages are consistently good quality. We purchase their locally roasted beans a lot to brew our own great coffee at home. With the purchase of a bag of beans Hyperion gives a token for a free cup of coffee in the cafe.

Google
As an out-ot-towner: This place is excellent! They seem to have something for everyone, a balance of crazy and cozy coffee options. I was browsing their roasts before ordering and noticed the Ethiopian LAAYYOO was on drip. OH MY WORD! Best drip I've ever had. Only 2.50, as well. We tried Vertex while in town, which was pretty good, but they wanted 4.00 for a cup of drip that was just okay.

I was visiting from California and needed a place to get some work done so I stopped by to sit for a while and grab a coffee, and I must say that their coffee was exceptional. It was so good I went for three days in a row! The atmosphere is very cozy and felt perfect for a small town coffee spot. Service was also very fast and the employees were all very kind.

Google
Hyperion is my favorite place to get coffee, hands down. Whether you get one of the coffees of the day, or enjoy a nice Cortado, you will experience some of the best coffee you have ever tasted. Also, without the higher prices of some other places. Technically the first time I had Hyperion was in a stout brewed with their coffee, but the first time I had just their coffee was in the Downtown Ann Arbor location. I rate them both equally, each with their own charm. Enjoy! 😊

Went to the first annual Chocolate festival here. The vibe was what I hoped for in an Ypsilanti setting. Quality coffee as always and the chocolate vendors matched with excellent samples of chocolate. Got the mixed bag that had something from each vendor. Delicious, all!

Google
Very chill vibe. Indoor and now extended outdoor seating. Great place to get coffee supplies and beans. Always fun flavored lattes, current favorite is the pumpkin tahini with oatmilk. Great cold brew. They also have delightful treats like cardamom blondies. Baristas are always welcoming and willing to give recommendations.

Good coffee and yummy handpies :) plenty of indoor and outdoor seating

Great drinks, service, and ambiance. Cumfy chairs to do work. Get the pistachio latte.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't visited such an iconic place when I drive by almost every day! Finally got the opportunity to visit when meeting with a new friend and WOW I had such a good time. The staff was very knowledgeable about their products and recommended a holiday flavored coffee for me that I absolutely loved! Very collaborative atmosphere and I am excited to meet more humans here and take advantage of their cool outdoor space!

Yelp
Stopped by Hyperion as I've heard the hype & good things! I've been to Cultivate but I've never noticed it; the entrance is around the corner from the street though, so maybe that's why! I tried their seasonal beverages, on recommendation from the barista, as well as some of the locally made baked goods! *Honey Lavender Latte - Lavender in a latte is hard to get right. I've had too many lattes that tasted like drinking a soap/candle. This was the perfect balance and still let the coffee shine. I guess that's what happens when its housemade Lavender simple syrup! The other seasonal that looked BOMB (and something I've only had on the West Coast) is the Cardi Boi (brown sugar, cardamom and cinnamon). So Kudos to Hyperion for being up with the trends! *Everything Bialy - Oh this was perfection. I loved the sweet caramelized onions with the cream cheese center and just bits of savory from the everything bagel seasoning. I demolished this. Thanks again to the barista for recs. *Lavender Lemon Bar - A little bit more cooked than I expected from a lemon bar but the taste was good! I was also really impressed with all the coffee equipment available! Good to know for next time!

Yelp
This is our favorite coffee shop in the Ypsi, Ann Arbor and Belleville area. They have rotating latte and bean flavors. The drinks are smooth and strong. Staff is friendly and attentive. Inside seating area is small, but the outside area is a hidden gem! Lots of space in the sun or not. And they are open a little later, so you can stop by after work to pick up your weekly beans. If you buy a bag of coffee they give you a free drip coffee or drink token. Two tokens is a specialty drink, for free!
google avatar

Yelp
Although a relatively unassuming location, the iced americano is pretty good and has the classic hipster coffee shop aesthetic
google avatar

Grace M.

Yelp
got an iced vanilla oatmilk latte I mean it was good but not great for the price of $6.36 for it to be mid and super small amount and it was the biggest size ! I mean cmon now... I was a lil disappointed to say the least. It's cute in there though and good service.

Yelp
Hip coffee shop in the heart of Depot Town with great selections of espresso drinks, cold brew and pastries. There is some outdoor seating scattered around the property which is fantastic in the summer. The shop also offers great selection of coffee beans and Hyperion branded merch, such as t-shirts, hoodies and hats. Love hanging out at this place, always.
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Brought some colleagues in from out of town to hang out before our lunch reservations. Really cute and cozy space, though easy to miss if you don't know to look for it. Those of us who got coffee loved it. A nice selection of flavors and drinks. Pretty fair prices. The maple bourbon latte was wonderful and I could've had more if I wasn't already nice and hyped from the first two. Would love to go back.

Yelp
Somehow it took me years to get to Hyperion, but it was worth the wait! They have a big, but not overwhelming selection of drinks and often have pastries and/or desserts. Very cute and great hours for a coffee shop.
google avatar

Ailun H.

Yelp
I love the rotating drip coffee here! They have a drip of the week and drip of the day. Today I had the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe drip coffee which was fruity and delightful. I like that they have seasonal beans with really interesting flavors! Definitely come here or go on their website to check out some of their unique roasts at a pretty cheap price. They also have more "permanent" roasts that you can get whenever. Hyperion is definitely known for their lighter and fruity roasts but they also have a couple great dark roasts as well like "Prometheus". Overall, the drinks here are great for a reasonable price. Baristas are friendly and always willing to make great suggestions.

James W.

Yelp
Great coffee and atmosphere! I always get my coffee beans from here and enjoy the great variety of roasts, blends, and single origins they carry. Service is always quick and friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
BEST coffee around! They have their service down to a science. It is the most consistently perfect cup of coffee, every time.

Yelp
Hyperion is a really nice coffee spot in Ypsi. The vibe inside really suits the young crowd in Ypsilanti, and the location in the main stretch of town is great! There are a number of parking spots in the lot near the building, as well as the street parking on the main road if that's your bag as well. Inside, you'll find a small menu, and that really streamlines the ordering process. The coffee is solid, and if you have any questions about any options/ items on the menu, the staff is happy to help! Outside of ordering, you'll notice that seating inside the shop is very limited. There's one large communal table and a few seats along the sides of the building inside. There are some outdoor options as well, but in the winter especially, it can be "packed" (no empty seats) during what would normally be considered non-peak times. It's also common to find that most people are on their own, working inside the shop... certainly not a problem -- unless you're trying to meet someone for coffee & to catch up. I found that it's a nice place to go and spend time, but I probably wouldn't schedule another coffee date there -- it's too much of a possibility that it'll be very quiet inside and that you'll be the only ones talking (I may or many not have be speaking from personal experience). Overall a great coffee shop ! (just don't set up coffee dates there :) )
google avatar

Henrik K.

Yelp
They pretty much raised (and set) the car in SE Michigan for high quality coffee and ethical business model. I used to buy coffee from a different MI business and was very hesitant to change things but eventually had to face the reality - they sell the highest quality beans and roast for relatively lower price than anyone else. And the coffee they serve there - especially drip and just the daily brew - is excellent! Hipster vibe, casual, so this is not a place to impress a first date but definitely a place to come back every singe day for exceptional coffee, fair prices and great service!
google avatar

Jesus E.

Yelp
This is definitely my favorite coffee place in ypsi. Nothing like coming here on a nice day when all their doors are open for a relaxing iced coffee moment in open air! I never leave here disappointed. The atmosphere is very chill and perfect for studying or working. Staff has always been super friendly and welcoming. Their passion for coffee always comes across!
google avatar

Jessyka M.

Yelp
Ones of our fav local coffee spots! Great coffee in house & made at home. The staff is always so wonderful, especially Sam!
google avatar

Amanda P.

Yelp
Love this place! I've been living about 2 miles away for four years and never stopped in but finally did last week. The door is I the back of the building FYI; that took me a minute to figure out. Lol. There's about six small tables in there but they do have wi-fi and spacing to work. I had a chocolate chip vegan cookie which was absolutely delicious. It was fluffy and chocolatey and not at all dry which I don't know why that's what I expected though. I ordered a mocha latte which was hands-down my favorite. I get a mocha latte just about everywhere I go this one tasted like cocoa and not chocolate syrup making it a winner. Price point was good as well and plenty of parking. Also walking distance to downtown Ypsi and depot town for restaurants and shopping. Must stop.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
Stopped in for the first time to get a coffee for #workingfromhome. I usually go to Cultivate, across the street, but decided to give Hyperion a try. I got the mocha with oat milk. Their mocha has more of a milk chocolate flavor that's light on the coffee flavor but you still feel the kick! They only have seating outside right now and you walk up to the register at the entrance to order. I'm looking forward to going back and trying a cappuccino which is also my other go-to drink at Cultivate.

Yelp
This quaint and local coffee shop nestled in the heart of Ypsi creates the perfect backdrop for all your main character / Hallmark Midwest needs. It oozes Stars-Hallow energy from the second you stroll past the oversized double barn doors and into the archway. The menu, although limited, helps to streamline the ordering process and specializes in unique blends from across the globe. I was tempted to try the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe blend. It packed a huge punch in the best way, and ultimately was the perfect pick me up as we drove through to Detroit. The staff was kind and informative on each of the roasts so any questions or concerns can be directed to them! Would definitely recommend this place. -- the only downside is the limited seating and menu options available.
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Stumbled across Hyperion while driving through Depot Town. Glad I did! Great coffee. Their menu is somewhat limited. They had a few teas (I believe), coffees and then the fancier coffee drinks. I believe they also had a few bakery items. I ended up having one of their Cardy Boy drinks. So good! It's a latte with cinnamon, cardamom and other spices. The sweet staff member behind the counter said it was similar to a Cinnamon Toast Crunch and I would agree! They have a small parking lot and there is parking on the street. It is definitely a place where you get your drink and go. Not any indoor seating. It's worth a visit if you are in Depot Town!!!

Maggie K.

Yelp
Hidden, but really good coffee, my friend ordered the red eye which has a shot or two of expresso and I ordered the seasonal which was pumpkin spice. We also ordered an oatmeal chocolate chip and raisin cookie and WOW is was so delicious and fresh. Very busy place coffee shop! Earthy. Very friendly.

Yelp
This is my 4th visit. Since discovering it, I try to stop in every time I'm in town for a latte and pastry. They do a very nice job. Love the unique space and decor. It creates an appealing vibe, bolstered by the employees that took my order. Will keep coming back.
google avatar

Saay F.

Yelp
This was my first time here. The barista recommended thing drink. Loved it. Super refreshing and tasty. There is parking on site which was a great thing. Staff super friendly. I'll be back to try their other menu items
google avatar

Yelp
I have a hard time picking a favorite coffee roaster in Ypsi/A2 but Hyperion is definitely on the top of my list. Their space in Depot Town is great - just off the beaten track enough to make it feel like a little oasis. Great for a quick cup of coffee or getting some to take home.
google avatar

Yelp
my opinion about Hyperion coffee Company there a wonderful place a coffee take everything about them is excellent even though they used to be The ugly mug they still are cranking out really great coffee I would recommend anybody who is in ypsilanti want some good coffee check this place out for sure.

Yelp
Enjoyed great coffee and a homemade pop tart! Cute atmosphere. The service was quick.

Yelp
I recently went to Hyperion on a Thursday afternoon. I got the Nitro cold brew with Lavender. I love that they don't charge you extra for a flavor! Coffee was fantastic and only $3.75 for 16 oz. They have picnic tables outside, outdoor outlets, and about 10 tables inside. Great setting
google avatar

Leanne G.

Yelp
Visited Hyperion Coffee Co. for the first time today. Their team is clearly knowledgeable and passionate about their craft - as evident in the interactions with a few customers ahead of me in line. I picked up an oat milk latte and slice of tea cake, which were both phenomenal. Add some fresh air and you've got a foolproof recipe for the perfect Saturday morning. Can't wait to stop by again soon!

Yelp
Might be my favorite coffee house ever. Amazing welcoming staff , they roadt their own coffee and even gave live events! Go here , cool latte art too

Yelp
After parking on the street and walking back to the shop, I was welcomed inside by the wonderful scent of freshly roasted beans. Though the day was hot, inside was cooler and comfortable. I walked right up to the register and ordered a small latte. The gentleman who was taking my order asked if I'd like a 12 or 8 ounce serving, and I chose the 8oz. It was delicious. The latte itself was brought out to me, as the barista told me he'd bring it out to where I'd be seated. It was presented with some good art, and a high temperature. Always better enjoyed from a ceramic cup instead of a travel cup. The taste of the latte was wonderful, with a rest full body of flavor, smooth to the tongue, and just a little hot to almost burn on the first sip. After a minute or so, it was at what I'd consider the perfect temperature and could go down much easier. Still with every sip, it was great body/flavor combination. Nutty without being over powerful and allowing the other pieces to join in. Small shop, great open layout to see everything happening in front, and behind the scenes. Loved seeing the artwork of where the beans start as seeds, then to cherries, and into harvested fresh beans. Well done Hyperion, well done! Signed, Empty Cup Reviews

Yelp
The shop seems to be set up for take out only/social distancing by setting up a table for to go customers. The rest of the shop behind the table was a mess of chairs and random stuff everywhere. Felt like I was ordering a cup of coffee from a hoarder house garage. That being said, the girl who made my coffee disappeared with her long unhygienic nails, somewhere into that mess to make my coffee, so who knows what kind of clean or dirty was going on back there. Although the actual coffee was really good, the experience here didn't feel clean. It's very unfortunate that the employee working the register table was not wearing a mask or gloves. I thought it was common good health practice during a pandemic (if not locally mandated) that food service workers wear a mask and gloves. It was surprising to see blatant disregard for safety and health at this shop. I really felt like not drinking this coffee, because of all the reasons mentioned above. Sketchy. Will not be back.

Yelp
So good!! this place is my go to in the AA area for strong roasts with vibrant personality. A coffee roaster's and coffee snob's dream- but without the snobbery. I love their espresso drinks and I was surprised how much I love their Eagle Mogiana swiss water process decaf (to mix with Titan Espresso and drink all day). Has its own parking and is in a fun part of Ypsi.

Yelp
We love Hyperion Coffee! For real the GOAT. We serve it to our clients and drink it at home. We are more than thankful they are down the street in Depot Town, a great location with great parking. Not to mention a friendly staff and a strong morals. Thanks for all you do and making great coffee!

Ty T.

Yelp
The coffee is definitely good. The ambiance is so good and fun. The details and being able to sit outdoors and in. Love it!
google avatar

Shannen B.

Yelp
This small roastery-type coffee place is a little bit hard to find. I got their latte and it was really good. You can tell that they use great coffeebean! The interior of the space is quite nice. They have this large table in the center of the space that allows people to sit together. In some pictures on Yelp, I saw that they sometimes open their huge green door to let light in. Unfortunately, that didn't happen when I was there. Guessing it was bcs it was cold that day. Love their logo though! Wanted to get a coffee mug or a tshirt but I had to restrain myself because I knew that I had just gone on a splurge on Thanksgiving day shopping hahah. Definitely come here guys!

Yelp
Great coffee and atmosphere at this tucked away Ypsi location. It's very unusual and interesting to see the roasting and grinding processes inside a cafe. It's also inspiring to see all the photos from the diverse bean sources on the walls of the cafe. It's clear there is enormous emphasis placed on the quality of the entire process from sourcing to serving, and that's evident in the wonderful coffee. This will be a frequent stop for us whenever we're in Ypsi. If you have not been to Hyperion yet, you should check it out - you will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
The expresso machine closes at 4, so you may want to go early if you want hot expresso drinks. I arrived a bit late so I tried 2 of their cold drinks. The cold brew with their house-made lemonade was unique and awesome. It goes so well with the summer vibe and their cute backyard where you can breathe some fresh air and enjoy the sunlight. The gentle acidity pairing with a slight sweetness makes the drink so delightful. IN LOVE. The iced latte, though, was bland. I heard they have some creative seasonal options. Would love to try them out in the future. The baristas are super nice. To me, a good cafe is not just about the coffee but also about the people. Enjoyed chatting with them, and would love to visit from time to time.

Yelp
The coffee is great, and the spiced espresso is powerful. The location is unique, and the staff is friendly. Hip little joint

Yelp
Cute hipster coffee shop in the depot area of Ypsilanti. Great coffee, alt milk, a few wholesome pastries, and cool t-shirts. Service slow but beautiful .

Yelp
What a gorgeous little place - looking forward to being able to hang out inside someday. This is my go-to for beans now and I always enjoy grabbing a little mocha when I'm there to pick up the beans. Everyone is extremely friendly and it's such a good cup of coffee.
google avatar

Gibby L.

Yelp
Hyperion coffee has the best coffee in the entire Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. It's not even a contest. This is by far the chillest coffee shop you will ever visit, due to the awesome atmosphere and staff. They do things so wonderful with Latin American beans you'd never guess what you were drinking. Additionally, Hyperion sets the example with their direct trade model. Everyone else, y'all need to catch up, it's 2019, and you still don't know if the people farming your coffee are treated well!?! Thanks to Hyperion for existing. Keep it up.
google avatar

KookHui R.

Yelp
This place serves good coffees! I love Cardy boy, but others were good, too. A barista drew beautiful latte art on my latte. I love it! They sell good quality coffee beans and cute souvenirs. Outdoor seating is available, so you can enjoy nice weather with your coffee! :)

Yelp
We have been to Hyperion now on two occasions. Knowing that it had recently opened, we thought we ought to check it out. And we were glad we did. We have visited several coffee shops in the southeastern Detroit area - including Ann Arbor. Those shops include Anthology, Red Hook, Comet, Mighty Good, RoosRoast, Cultivate, Elevado, and Red Dot. I will boldly declare: Hyperion is the best of the best. I usually judge a coffeehouse based on three components: coffee (menu, preparation, taste, presentation), culture (what is the shop like), and customer service (friendly or unfriendly). Coffee - My wife had a decaf cappuccino (decaf due to pregnancy) and I had an espresso. The espresso was served with a single animal cracker and a sparking water. There were two choices of espresso: their standard Titan, or the natural processed Ethiopian. I chose the Ethiopian espresso, which I found to be perfectly bitter and fruity and topped with beautiful crema. The latte art on my wife's cappuccino was a gorgeous swan. We could tell that the coffee was fresh and certainly roasted and prepared properly. Culture - Well, you have to see for yourself. Hyperion is the epitome of simplicity/minimalism. This spot is in an historic brick building in Depot Town. The coffee roaster and their green bean supply are in sight, with the beans set on a pallet in the seating section. There are various coffee-related publications placed throughout the shop and a small retail area where Hario, Aeropress, and Chemex products are stocked. There were a couple coffee syphons, too. Also, Hyperion has beans and apparel for sale. Lots of coffee literature lying around. There's also an Etch-a-Sketch. Branding is excellent. Customer Service - Kind folks all around. We were greeted by a friendly fellow who took our order. The gentleman who was roasting also greeted us. He said that we could have a seat, that they would bring our drinks to us, and we could square up before we left. Try Hyperion. You will not regret it.
google avatar

Dee M.

Yelp
They have the best pour overs and cold brews. They also sell coffee beans from all around the world. If you like a good roast, you must check them out!
google avatar

Rebeka M.

Yelp
Really great beans and they make a mean latte. Good little space to come and work while enjoying a coffee. The staff are super nice!!

Wendy C.

Yelp
Great coffee and nice atmosphere. Only thing that would make it better is to add bagels (everything) to the menu. Great way to start the morning.
google avatar

Anne C.

Yelp
Cute little open-air coffee shop (reminds me of California breweries) located behind the building with Original Moxie and shares their parking lot. Very chill ambience. We stopped in on a quiet Sunday afternoon of gift shopping in Depot Town, and enjoyed sniffing coffee beans and ordering pour over coffee. There were only two other people there around 2pm on a Sunday in May. There was a quiet, but friendly, woman working who very diligently made each coffee and brought it to us at the long table where we sat. Lots of reading about local topics and coffee. Bags of their coffee beans are also sold on-site.
google avatar

Cole F.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, I had a latte and it was great. I like the location of it. Cute little town of ypsilanti. I like the store sign also. Great job Danny!
google avatar

Yelp
I had a fun experience studying here! Still starting out, with a small menu but enjoyable to hang out there. WiFi was solid, but there were not a lot of outlets. Not huge but there was plenty of room to do homework!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Easily the best cup of coffee in Ypsi, you'd be hard pressed to find a better coffee in this general area. Don't let yourself leave without getting a shot of espresso, even if you're not into espresso, it will absolutely blow your mind. I come in here a lot for a quick cold brew. It's only $2.50 for a 12oz cold brew. What I like the most is that they keep coffee simple. Hipsters have over complicated coffee to the point that I can't get you a cup of coffee in less than 10 minutes while in Plymouth. This place is great, whenever I stop in I always ask if they have anything I would regret not having. Last time I was there they had a really good Colombian blend that was amazing. Apparently less than 13lbs existed. At the end of the day, they can get you a really good cup of coffee in under 3 minutes. You can't ask for much more. Keep coffee simple.
google avatar

Arleen G.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to come to this place, because the juice place I frequent uses their coffee to make their coffee drinks with. ( which taste amazing because of Hyperion's coffee) I ordered a nitro brew and also bought some natural Brazilian beans. The nitro brew was perfectly smooth, no bitterness at all, like some other companies. The place could use a few more tables to sit at, other than that, I thought this place was very quaint and smelled amazing, because they ROAST the beans in house. I've heard the owner takes great pride in the beans he selects from around the world, and puts a lot of heart and soul into the roasting process. I can't wait to try some of the other coffees. So happy they are in Washtenaw county!
