Yelp
Hypnotic Emporium is located in a random strip mall (next to their sister donut shop, Hypnotic Donuts), and they are like an old school ice cream shoppe. You can get shakes, sundaes, and even a donut ice cream sandwich! They have 18 rotating flavors of ice cream, but there's a limit of 2 flavors/person you can sample. It wasn't busy when I came in on a Friday around 6pm, and I tried:
-Sundae w/Butter Pecan & Peterbuilt ($5, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=eIl_A_8r1UdubZvo06MlIA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): The butter pecan was good but nothing special, but I chose this since I didn't really like the other flavors I tried. The Peterbuilt was my favorite, since it has pieces of Heath bar, and I would get that again. The sundae was just ok overall, and I would rather just get the ice cream on it's own.
-Banana Cream Pie: There was too much banana flavor from the freeze dried banana- skip!
-Salty Dog: There was too much salt in this ice cream- skip!
-Texas Doctor (Dr. Pepper & Pralines): It was too weird for me to have a Dr. Pepper flavored ice cream, and I didn't think these flavors worked- skip!
I had really high expectations for Hypnotic Emporium since I really liked Hypnotic Donuts, but the flavors that I tried didn't really work for me. The Peterbuilt was good, and the consistency of the ice cream was creamy, so I would come back if I were in the area. The staff here is really nice- super friendly and energetic. At least the parking is easy since this strip mall has plenty of parking.
