This was a great experience. We had a cocktail in the bar first - terrific negroni for me. We were able to enjoy our drinks and then move into the dining room. The room is lovely with a stunning roof fresco. We opted to go with the 6 course tasting surprise menu. There were extra little amuse bouche through the meal. The service was excellent. The main older man with the grey hair explained each dish very well and seemed proud of the food. We really liked him. The sommelier was very good too. We started with a local white wine and then went onto a red wine. Both were lovely. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal. It felt like a proper treat. I would recommend if you want a special meal in Bologna.

Lovely atmosphere. Well spaced tables and recently renovated premises. Service was very friendly and waiters provided great suggestions for wines and also informed us of each dish as they were presented. Nice touches reflecting local ingredients. Food overall was interesting and well done, although one or two dishes were somewhat bland in my opinion. There were complementary starters, palate cleansers and post dessert petit fours.

One of the best meals I have ever had, everything from the presentation, the atmosphere, the attentiveness of the staff and of course the flavours and variety was incredible. We picked I Carracci because it was one of the few fine dining restaurants in Bologna that offered a vegetarian tasting menu, which is always hard to come by. We were a party of four, and just myself is vegetarian - so I had a slightly different menu to the rest. The fact that we didn’t take any pictures of the food says a lot, it was eaten too fast! The staff were so friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. We had a wine paring with our menu, with lots of interesting information - we really appreciated that they go above and beyond to ensure you have an excellent meal. I can’t speak highly enough of I Carracci, I would absolutely recommend and would love to visit again in future. Thank you for being so accommodating.

I visited this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and chose the full tasting menu with the wine pairing. The service was excellent and the food was truly well prepared – refined and delicious throughout the eight courses. However, the experience felt unbalanced: there was simply too much food, while the wine servings were disappointingly small for the price. At €80 for the pairing, I expected more generous pours and a smoother flow between wines. The pre-dinner glass of champagne (€20) was also surprisingly small. Overall, a fine restaurant with great service and food, but the value and proportions could be improved.

Exceptional experience through and through. The atmosphere sets the tone with the beautiful ceilings by the Carracci brothers. The service was exceptional, on point, knowledgeable, with excellent pace. Andrea and Gianluca took excellent care of us. The food courses were an exceptional variety of choices with a more contemporary and qualitative approach yet keeping true to the world renowned Bolognese cuisine. It was the birthday of my wife and I appreciated all the wonderful attention and care. So,so happy we are only 1 hour 10 minutes away!

Never to be forgotten…we have spent the past 4 weeks ‘living’ here in Bologna - visiting from Tasmania, Australia. Last night we came to I Carracci to celebrate both our 50th wedding anniversary and our combined 70th birthdays this year. From our first interaction with Simone, where we came in prior to ensure that we would have the correct dress code (as travellers), to the whole experience, we were blown away. The ambience of being seated in an historic room, served magnificent food (there was nothing that was not flavoursome nor so unique) and was topped off by being made to feel so special with a candlelit dessert decorated Buona Anniversario! Great find in Bologna. Ended up booking this during my honeymoon with my wife and they went above and beyond to make the experience special. Went with the tasting menu set by the kitchen and was impressed with the mix of traditional and more experimental modern ones as well. Service was a standout with the servers working more as a team- in particular Andrea took the time to discuss some of the history of the restaurant with us which was super cool.
