Where to Sip Chewy, Fruity, Colorful Bubble Tea in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"Should you find yourself at Garland’s Saigon Mall or Town East in Mesquite, immediately locate I Heart Boba. This hidden gem is a local favorite, featuring a menu of traditional, no-fuss drinks with perfectly-prepared boba. Try the red bean or taro smoothie." - Amy McCarthy

This location was recommended to my husband, so we decided to try it out and we NOT disappointed!! The chai tea and the strawberry tea is really tasty! The boba were pretty tender and flavorful! We had a mess up during our order (which was my fault) and the staff graciously corrected it for us! Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Ok so NORMALLY in the past when my daughter & I go to town east mall her & her girlie's love to get I Boba. Well today, we were up there about 1230-1pm & (KEEP IN MIND TODAY WHEN WE WENT IT WAS MY DAUGHTER'S 9TH bday)so... we walk up to the counter and a girl who has helped us before was just standing there, staring at us. I looked at her and for about a good minute or so, and she was picking something at her face and I said, excuse me, are you open and she continued to stare. After that, I said excuse me, are you open? She said, yeah, i'm just picking this thing on my face. I said, what thing on your face and she traced a finger?Around a huge open sword of her lip. It looked straight up like it was a herpes sore or huge round open sore above her lip, and she continued picking at it, and I said, what is that? And she said I don't know. Finally, we proceeded to order, and I was so disgusted that somebody would be picking at either a herpes sore or a giant sore from a zit( which I highly doubt that's what it is.), and then try to touch and make anything anybody ordered that day, let alone my nine year old daughter. This is absolutely disgusting, completely unsanitary, and should be reported to the CDC, because if she gets herpe juice on somebody's drink and they drink it, they will now have herpes or whatever nasty sore, which definitely was herpes, that is so sick. And if that were to happen to my daughter yeah, the company will be shut down sued in court with an attorney. I am furious, and i'm looking to take this to corporate or h r with a fury

The taro smoothie wasnt bad could have been better but the customer service experience was really saddening for me. They have a policy they decided not to uphold so they lied to me that the sticker machine was malfunctioning all day instead of being honest regarding the situation that the original cup was torn. Immediately after my order, customers were receiving drinks with stickers. I decided to ask my for my free drink like the policy stated in the picture i uploaded once again as i saw the sticker machine was working. After when they were asked to remedy the situation they continued to insult my intelligence and told me if it was that big a deal to call their supervisor and inform him. I asked for the number and they said its online and the supervisor asked not for it to not be given out. I understand that completely and didnt want the employees to get in trouble for this but it should be known they don’t uphold their policy of giving you a free drink if your sticker isnt on your cup. Honestly dont know why the stickers are that big a deal but they must be important if the managers there made sure theres a policy for reimbursing customers who dont get their sticker on their boba.

Google
very slow, more than 20 minute wait. Not clean very disorganized very nasty. If I could give negative stars to this place I most likely would.

Google
Could drink the honeydew milk tea forever. They seemed a little confused when I asked for it, but I still got it and it still tastes good. Originally got this magical concoction at a Bubble Bubble Tea in Oregon and got super excited when I realized that there was a place near my home that could make it for me.

Google
Not for me. Strawberry boba tea is not my drink. I will need to try something else next time. The service was okay.

Google
I got there at 5:45 pm today 8/23/2023 and they told me they were closed 10 minutes later a customer arrived while I was eating Philly steak and they served that customer probably it was a relative because I didn’t see them walk to re register

Google
The customer service in this place in town east is bad. A lady stated she was waiting for a while and nobody came out she eventually gave up and left. An employee finally came out and seem grouchy and not in the mood to provide customer service. In the end she basically just threw my drink at me. I was even polite, probably the worst service I ever received here before. The employee shouldn’t let her anger out on customers and shouldn’t be working there. Definitely not going to be returning anymore.

Yelp
Just wanted to say that Jesse is an awesome employee! Great communication, fast service , overall enjoyed my experience with them. Give him a raise !!

Yelp
The boba tea was amazing it bothered me a little that they kinda never have tapioca pearls but it's in a mall and there's usually a lot of costumers so I don't judge ! I went with my friends and the workers were very sweet and fast with our orders

Alejandra C.

Yelp
dirty. the milk tea is warm, way too sweet and has an unauthentic taste. the boba is way overcooked and not chewy at all. 0/100

Yelp
Still one of my go to spots everything I go to Towneast. Always consistent and friendly staff. One caveat is that I wish there was a way to sample as not to get an overly sweet or too tart drink. We threw away one of our drinks because it was way too sweet even for me and I have a sweet tooth.

Yelp
1/2/2023. Yelp and Google say it opens at 10. So I got there a little before ten and waited. There was a guy working in the back. So I waited by the counter for an hour. REALLY craving boba, and mesquites options are slim! I'm also 8 months pregnant, and this is what I was craving. I even called a few times, and no one answered. I grabbed a chair and put it by the counter so I can sit and wait. Then a lady came out looking surprised. She didn't ask for my order; I asked if I can order. So she said let me ask. Then she said yes, and I ordered a boba tea. Then she said the boba won't be ready for about another hour, and she explained that there was no one else working... but there was someone working. I asked her what time the place opened today, and she said I don't know, like 11? Holy cow! How do we not know when we are open? Anyways. If you want to be served by lackadaisical and confused employees, this is your place.

Yelp
First of all, I always like to try things I haven't tried and give my opinion on them. This place wasn't too good for me. It tasted artificial and not real. I've been to a lot of Boba places and just seemed like that to me. Would I try it again? No I wouldn't. I would try a different place and hope it taste fresh and real!

Yelp
My family is from Mesquite, so we go to Town East Mall every once in a while. When I Heart Boba first came, we were so excited! We'd always order something from there when we were at the mall because it was always decent quality boba. When I came with my friend, I noticed that the staff was different. They all seemed to not know what they were doing, especially when it came to the punching in your number for the free drink deal along with the dollar off a drink Yelp deal. Thankfully my order came out fast and was pretty good (I got the boba cream green tea), even though there were quite a few people in front of me. However, because of the nature of the employees and the look of the place, I was skeptical about the quality and cleanliness of my order. I don't know if I'd come back...maybe if the staff changes?

Yelp
They did away with the rewards- and the response on why was that the manager didn't know how to work it. Not very customer-centric. Overpriced and not that great anyways.$ $0.65 each add-on is a bit steep. Will take my boba cravings elsewhere.

Celina A.

Yelp
This is the worst boba i've ever had, i got the taro milk tea and it tasted like sweetened warm bath water. The Boba jellies were good. Rest of drink was trash 0/10.

The Real K.

Yelp
I had this boba made me chronically have the worst stomach pain ever I was in the restroom clenching my toes with the strongest grip to the carpet I I threw up from the boba it made me feel I'll I had the worst headache, and received the worst moment I had in the restroom. I think I made a discovery of diarrhea type three pain is all I felt for 2 days straight I think there boba is lethal and should be examined with care I don't know what they put in there my wife and child had the same symptoms and problem so my experience I can say it's not good...
google avatar

WaNesha J.

Yelp
On any other day I would give them a 5 star..maybe I am just so upset that this is the only bobba place within 15 miles and I drove all the way here walked through the mall stood in line 20 minutes only to be tomd they are out of bobba (the only reason I came) so to leave empty handed and park all the way across this scorching hot parking lot to my 130 degree car is very disappointing..I can't wait until I move away for this baren place

Juan F.

Yelp
This is the worst boba tea we've ever had. My son got sick and my daughters tasted like coffee when it was passions fruit. There were so many workers behind the counters not doing anything, whatever they were mixing the bobas in were not washed well. A pile of dishes all over the place. If I could give this place a zero rating I would. Please hire an age appropriate shift leader. If my kid would have had a coffee allergy this would be a different message to different people. There was nothing delicious about todays drinks.
google avatar

Jenna N.

Yelp
I got the taro cream tea, the drink was good but the boba was really soft and not chewy at all.
google avatar

Sonia I.

Yelp
Got the passion fruit green tea with boba. It was the most delicious tea ever! Everytime I come to the mall I have to stop for some tea.
google avatar

Christina A.

Yelp
I've been craving boba and this hit the spot! I was very surprised at how good the drink taste! I've been to many tapioca places that used powder or something and it's just gross, so I wasn't expecting anything from a place in the mall BUT I was surprised! It was soooooo gooooooddddd I mean it was delicious ! I will back!
google avatar

Becca T.

Yelp
I would come here every now and again to get a Peach Sweet Black Tea and some black tea Bobas. I've never had an issue before yesterday. I decided to show a friend and we both ordered. I had specifically said Peach sweet Black Tea with Black Tea bobas but somehow it came out as a Peach smoothie?!? How?! And then when they called my "order" i had said that i ordered a Peach sweet tea with boba, the girl very snarky replied that no, that's not what i had ordered. She was very rude and kept arguing that it wasn't what i ordered, etc!!! I am in customer service and you can bet that if i talked to any of my customers like the way she spoke to me, i would be fired... i got a refund and I'm pretty sure while i was, she was in the back snapping pictures of me... i won't be back until people are more customer friendly and learn respect for others...
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
Worst coffee milk tea I've ever had!! And their boba balls are smaller than the other places I've been. They also wouldn't take my $1 off coupon I earned for checking in on Yelp! The mango smoothie however was pretty good.

Gabriela B.

Yelp
I was not satisfied with the customer service and it wasn't clean. They were out of too many things. I left.
google avatar

Nohely C.

Yelp
I always make sure to stop by here whenever I'm at the mall. However, the service here is on and off. Usually the drinks are made differently and they aren't consistent. The boba also isn't the best that there is, but it's the best that you can probably find in the area. They have a customer rewards program that's really convenient so definitely make sure you take advantage of that if you come here because it will eventually add up and you'll get a free drink!
google avatar

Trang L.

Yelp
I love the drinks here. Strongly recommend Honeydew milktea and avocado smoothie!! Will try out more drinks later and will definitely come back.

Filiberto G.

Yelp
If I could give it ZERO stars I would!!!Worst boba I had in the DFW area FOR SURE!!! I asked for a strawberry smoothie and they gave me this disgusting drink. It's basically like strawberry flavored water it's DISGUSTING I used to love this place but after today I'm never going again. Before I got this I had another drink with the same problem and I asked them to make it again and it was still HORRIBLE. And the cashier still had the audacity to ask me for a tip. NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT EVERRR!!!

Yelp
Every time I go to the Town East food court, there is a line in front of I Heart Boba. Today I stopped to figure out what the fuss was about. They had little samples of a honeydew and strawberry/banana smoothie. Yum! I was in the mood to try their bubble tea and my 8 year old was begging for a smoothie. My son got a watermelon smoothie (not on the menu, but they had the fruit) and my chocoholic husband got a chocolate smoothie (they use a lot of Hershey's syrup). I tried some of both and they were delicious! I ended up ordering a pudding green tea. The cashier told me a little about it beforehand, but I thought I was getting a little bit of pudding in addition to the bubbles, not a lot of pudding and no bubbles, so was a little bit disappointed. My fault, not hers. Drinking pudding tea is like sucking chunks of flan through a straw. The experience was interesting, a little disturbing at times, but okay overall. I don't think I'll order it again though. Most items are $3-4 which isn't very pricey if you compare it to smoothies anywhere else. I'll definitely stop back again to try the chai latte tea when I visit (or at Saigon Mall which I live 5 minutes away from). Everyone was very friendly and helpful too!

Yelp
We were in the mall and had a desire for Boba Tea. My friend suggested it and said she'd been before. After scouring the menu and asking for recommendations, we decided on the Taro Coconut Cream smoothie and the Lemon Honey tea add popping lychee and boba. It's not your write home about it type place but worthwhile. Definitely scratched our itch, would go back again.
google avatar

Adrianne L.

Yelp
This place is horrible, customer service is a 1 out of 5 for sure, the lady at the register was rude, kept trying to rush us through our order after I explained it was our first time here, then she asked us if we could go get change since they didn't have any quarters or pennies and she needed 9 cents to finish ringing us up. Also don't bother with the yelp check in, she said they don't do that anymore even though it's listed on here. I got a strawberry banana smoothie for $5 and change it was ok, nothing special and a bit over priced but it is the mall but due to the customer service I definitely won't be back.
google avatar

Alina L.

Yelp
I love going here, tbh my favorite employee is Sandy. She always knows all the best drinks and she never fails to satisfy my cravings.
google avatar

Brittani G.

Yelp
Tried the coconut cream boba tea yesterday with my best friend and we won't be back. Had to ask them to sweeten it after it had been made and then he added wayyyyy too much fructose to it.. neither of us could finish it. Definitely no need to return. Will make the trek to Rockwall and visit Bubble Bubble Tea House the next time I'm craving boba tea.
google avatar

Sandra H.

Yelp
I came to redeem my frequent diner free drink voucher and then said they can't honor it because they got a new machine and I have to start over!! He took my voucher and crumbled it up! Bubble Bubble Tea in rockwall is much better anyway!
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
They don't except the YELP coupon anymore so don't bother & they also don't blend their drinks anymore either. I only came here because I was in the mall & didn't feel like driving 30 mins away to get boba but guess I will now. I'd rather drive further to get better customer service & get the drinks the way I prefer.

John W.

Yelp
Ordered mango green tea with mango popping boba. Tea tasted like city water with a hint of mango and the popping boba left pieces of what felt like plastic in my mouth, that i had to spit out. The boba didn't even have a mango flavor and wasn't juicy. It was so bad I threw it away.
google avatar

Isael R.

Yelp
I came up here and asked what time did they open they looked at me and laughed at me and said nothing to me , is this how y'all treat yalls customers
google avatar

Lita S.

Yelp
Just called to get directions and guy had an attitude and couldn't give a landmark and hung up on me. So thanks but no thanks no business from me.

Angelique R.

Yelp
I would give ZERO stars if I could, Honeydew smoothie had a funny, almost spoiled after taste to it, almost like it was being covered up by sugar !!!! Absolutely disgusting that they cannot seem to use FRESH fruit, but rather fruit that is past its time to be thrown out!!! NEVER GO HERE!!!!
google avatar

Taylor C.

Yelp
I used to come here ALOT and loved the place but recently it seems like they stopped giving a shit about thier customers. The restraint is called I heart boba yet the past 5 times Ive come here there wasn't any bobba. Not only is there not any bobba but the staff is shit I came by and asked how long it would be till the bobba is ready, the cashier told me 30 minutes, came back 30 minutes later for a different girl to tell me "it's not gonna be done for a while" then she went and talked to another employee and they both looked back at me and gave me a snarky grin. I know town east isn't the best quality mall, but damn it takes a lot to make a bobba shop ghetto.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Orange and vanilla smoothie is delish! It tastes like starbursts - who doesn't love that?!
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
I had one of the smoothies at a restaurant with tapioca pearls. It was good and I jumped at the chance to have the drink again. There was a huge selection and the guy behind the counter was funny and willing to make great suggestions. If I am ever at this mall I will stop in for another bubble tea.
google avatar

Collin C.

Yelp
I tried I Heart Boba for the first time the other day, and was pleasantly surprised. I thought for sure it would have been some over-hyped teenybopper place but I was wrong and will be giving them my service yet again. The location I visited was inside Town East Mall at their food court. I got my Cookies and Cream shake almost immediately, and my friend got his Strawberry-Kiwi (if memory serves) just as fast. The flavor was delicious and well blended, it was creamy and you could taste an Oreo like cookie in every sip you took.

Flor L.

Yelp
Lazy staff!!! Drove 20 minutes, during this gas crisis in dallas, because I was craving some boba. Got there 15 minutes before closing time and the employee said she couldn't make a smoothie. You work till 9 pm not 8:45. Could of easily put some mango and boba in the blender, it's not that hard.
google avatar

Fred O.

Yelp
I would rate this place a 5 but I do a 4 do to the fact that when I go there the only person that knows how to make my drink the way I want without having to explain Is SUZI the morning shift girl.
google avatar

Ian M.

Yelp
The service was quick and the lines were not too long despite the fact that the food court itself was claustrophobic. I got the mango smoothie with boba. The boba tasted fine, but the mango smoothie didn't taste as good as other smoothies I've had, such as at Jamba Juice. Overall, I cam away full, but wishing I had gone somewhere else. I probably should have gotten the Viet coffee instead.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
My gf says this place is more expensive than the one in garland ( like $1 more or something) I feel like it was worth it for the price. The watermelon slushie was VERY refreshing after a long day.
google avatar

Rodolfo G.

Yelp
Great place to have Boba drinks! They have a wide selection of teas, shakes, and smoothies. This is nothing much more to say about this places besides that, this place is a great thing to have at Town East Mall!
google avatar

Joey T.

Yelp
Ordered vietnamese coffee and tasted nasty. Please do not call your coffee "vietnamese coffee" and ruin the name. Any pho restaurants can make better vietnamese coffee.

Rosemary P.

Yelp
In recent years, the quality has gone down since alot of the Asian employees left. The drinks are tasty, it's just over sweetened like alot of Boba shops. The quality of the boba/tapioca pearls hasn't been great. I assume they are using old boba because it's yellow and hard. It should be black, soft, and chewy! I haven't been here recently so it might have changed. I will try again when I have boba cravings and don't want to go to Richardson/Garland.
google avatar

Chau N.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get bubble teas. They use fresh fruits and the taste reflects it. It's also one of the few places that makes red bean smoothies. Yum!
google avatar

Meredith H.

Yelp
The few times I've gone my drinks were always pretty good! I just wish they had coupons!

Jayde S.

Yelp
I love Boba tea, I always purchased it at Bethany's in Arlington. I have since moved and was delighted to see a Boba tea store at Town East Mall. I ordered an iced black tea with boba. The boba was very overcooked, so much so, that it had an awful scorched flavor and was just mushy (it should be firm but soft, and lightly sweet). I could not drink the tea, I just threw it away. So dissappointed, haven't had Boba tea since I moved to east TX in 2010. :(

David H.

Yelp
Today, I stopped by this place for some afternoon coffee as I saw the "COFFEE" on the big store sign. This big lettering "COFFEE" meant to me that this places must be serving a quality coffee. As I was paying for a cup of coffee, the price was surprisingly low (less than $1.00) for a small cup. Well, I thought they are running specials and I just paid for it and waited for my coffee in line. I did not bother to look around to see how they were preparing my coffee. A store employee handed me a cup. I took a couple of sips. "IT WAS AN INSTANT COFFEE" . I was sort of angry to have been served an instant coffee. It was an insult to me. I brought this matter to the attention of cash register employee. He did apology for not having made it clear that it was an instant coffee. I was not going to make any scenes and just left the cup on the counter for them to dump the coffee. I sure would not have minded paying $2.00 or $3.00 for quality coffee. But being served an instant coffee from this place was an "INSULT" to me.
