"This restaurant, with a name that pays tribute to the famous Elkano restaurant in Guetaria, is located within the walls of the Iberostar Selection Playa de Palma hotel. In its sophisticated dining room, with its predominant white colour scheme, chef Aitor Arregui creates cuisine similar to that showcased in his award-winning restaurant in the province of Guipúzcoa, with grilled fish and seafood from Mallorcan waters the undoubted starts of the show. The à la carte, featuring standout dishes such as John Dory and the option of half-plates for some choices, is well supported by two enticing tasting menus." - Michelin Inspector

30 of us stayed here for my Sons Wedding in July. From the moment we arrived all the fabulous staff could not do enough to make our trip so wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and nothing was too much for them. Loved the position of the hotel. Rooms perfect and pool area spotless and sun loungers so comfy. Oh yes breakfast fantastic, so so much choice and yummy. Can't wait to return.

Just returned from a week’s family holiday staying at the Playa de Palma and I have to say it was a fantastic stay. Right from the start the staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We had a problem with our reservation (totally not the fault of the hotel), and after a long day traveling the reception staff were super helpful and supportive whilst we resolved the issue with our travel agent.||From then on ALL of the staff from the reception, housekeeping, restaurant staff, bar staff and even the gardeners and maintenance teams were friendly and welcoming. I have to say the team at the Playa De Palme were by far the best we have experienced in terms of service and it makes a real difference. Add to this a superb hotel and facilities, superb food, in a great location and it really does make for a fantastic place to relax with your family, highly recommended.

We stayed for four days and had a great time with zero issues at any moment. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. They were cleaned and replenished daily. The breakfast buffet was delicious with even healthy and fresh options. Each staff member we encountered was friendly and always willing to help with questions or any knowledge and advice they had on the island. The view is spectacular. The pool was nice as well as their sunset bar where the bartenders were extremely amiable and personable. The location in relation to the ocean is great with it being just a minute walk away. The beaches were clean and the water warm in August. The location for partying was okay but it may be worth it to look into night outs nearby at only about 20-30 minutes away. The hotel lies very close as well to the airport, center mall, and Palma city center with tourist attractions.

Breakfast had a lot of cheaper quality of food. Half of fruit was canned. You can have only one towel per person. Beach is public so you have to rent, additional expense. Had a very poor experience at the spa. Did want to add that service was nice. People at front desk, especially Alex were nice and helpful.

On arrival, we were upgraded to 7th floor (which are superior/VIP) - I believe the room we were given was 709. ||PROs: Environmentally conscious and big on sustainability. Friendly staff. Great Cocktails. Organic(?) shower gels. Big TV screen during the England vs Spain UEFA Cup Final. ||CON: Blocked sink on arrival (one of his & her sinks). Noise from 8F, swimming pool area for VIPs. TV had German channels but couldn't get the BBC in some of the rooms including our "superior" room. The hotel engineer showed up, but a little too late for ladies final of the Wimbledon. People trapped in a lift, more than once during our short stay. All of these can be forgiven however.... NOT the giant cockroach..... which I "whacked" with all my courage...... and thought it was dead - it wasn't. It later scuttled away, and got away from a gap behind the bed. I was freaking out all evening and did not sleep that night. ||My verdict: This is a hotel I will NEVER return. (You can reasonably expect that given my experience.) Whilst staff are super friendly and apologetic upon hearing my experience, there was fundamentally something wrong with the command chain of this hotel - staff did little to reassure me that something has been done about the giant cockroach incident. They refused to provide me with an insecticide citing H&S (poor customer service and lack of care). They were unable to explain exactly what was done to rectify this, or mitigate the same situation. I suspected that their cleaners may not be their employees, rather they may be hired in. I unfortunately had to spend one more night at this hotel, so in the end, I decided to visit several supermarkets and b ought an insecticide spray, to have by my bedside just in case, as the hotel management failed to reassure me that it isn't coming back. I was so happy to leave this hotel (!)

The hotel itself is really nice, open spaces / friendly staff / nice rooms especially if you get the sea front big balcony room, we had two rooms, the lager queen side bedroom was excellent, the smaller room was ok. The BIG plus for me was the buffet, I have an allergy to gluten and was quiet worried what was going to be available to me, we had to email the hotel about my allergy before we got there to make kitchen staff aware – this was the BEST ever experience I have ever had - I had so many choices it was truly amazing – I give a big thanks to a server named Ricardo. He was fully aware of sin GLUTEN, he went that extra mile to make me feel comfortable when I was choosing my meals every morning and evening, I will definitely go there again if not for the culinary experience. There should be a Ricardo in every Hotel – I honestly can’t up the experience enough.

This just isn’t a 5 star hotel. It’s marketed and charged as one. This is not a place to go with your family, but rather your friends in your 20s. Our room had no door to the toilet, and there were no comforters on the bed. Just a sheet and smaller blanket. The breakfast was good, and the views great. The spa was unstaffed and in the basement. It is not in most beautiful neighborhood, by any means.

Yelp
I felt like I just had a first class experience. Definitely one of their premier properties compared to the other Iberostars also in the neighborhood! So many windows and great natural lighting even in the gym. I immediately relaxed upon entry as the front desk serves champagne or infused waters. The room is so spacious with an open bath, private rain shower and double vanity. The balcony has a solid door to block out sound as I imagine in high season the parties on the on the beach could be loud. You don't hear any hallway noise or slamming hall doors which is very common in hotels. One hour per day you can book the Spa Sensation room for free. It has steam sauna, jacuzzi, dry sauna, a thermal shower with 13, yes 13 shower heads, and a stall with an oak bucket up high with a chain. Pull the chain for an immediate ice bath! (You need to shower first before entering, look to your back once you enter the dressing rooms as they are easy to miss) The best part is the breakfast buffet which is bigger than even ones I've enjoyed on a cruise ship. Most importantly the quality is top notch. For example, they have a jam bar, natural honeycomb, bread bar, yogurt bar with an assortment of seed toppings, full tea pot service, caviar, small pancake station, cereal station, omelet station, cheese and meats, salad area, fresh squeezed juices, cut fruit selections, whole fruits for take away, and so much more. It really was top class. Rooms come with robes and slippers which you will need for the daily jacuzzi appointment which you need to make ideally one day before. Towels and linens are all high thread count. most staff speak German and English though an attempt at some Spanish also seems to garner a smile.
